For all the people clamoring for a book/movie/prequel about Haymitch's Games, why is there virtually ZERO fanart of the 2nd Quarter Quell? Young Haymitch who was canonically a baddie? Maysilee Donner, the OG owner of the Mockingjay pin whose death Katniss explicitly compares to Rue's? Where y'all at?
Suzanne dedicates 3-4 pages in ch 14 of CF to describing Haymitch's Games. We know what the arena was like, how most of the tributes died (bloodbath killed 18, volcanic eruption killed 12), we know how Haymitch outlasted 47 other tributes, we know how he won and why the Capitol was unhappy with his victory.
PLEASE the fact that the arena was designed to look picturesque and enticing but every temptation, from the flowers and fruit, to the butterflies and even the water itself, was toxic like some kind of twisted Garden of Eden???? Gotta hand it to the Gamemakers, that's so scrumptiously evil!
Also, I'm sorry to bring this back to my girlie Maysilee, but the fact that she wasn't killed by another tribute but by flamingo mutts minutes after she broke off her alliance with Haymitch and just as soon as he figured out the force field... Ohhh the Gamemakers did her so dirty!
Honestly, for a character with connections to many established characters in the trilogy, (she was Madge's aunt, Katniss's mom's best friend, AND Haymitch's ally) and who is the originator of an object which was both a testament to the intergenerational dynamics in the series and whose symbolic significance is central to the entire HG franchise, we know very little about Maysilee.
Maysilee's family ran a sweet shop, she owned a pet canary (a songbird used to detect poisonous gas in coal mines) which was bequeathed to Katniss's mother after her death, and she had a twin sister who eventually married the Mayor but suffers from chronic pain, presumably because she remains devastated by her sister's death.
These details establish Maysilee as someone distinctly of the well-off merchant class of D12, and they evoke notions of frivolity, excess, and indulgence. Arguably so does the pin which is described as a family heirloom made of solid gold in the book. And yet, these details also speak to the simple joys in life that should be luxuriated.
Katniss's mother receiving the songbird foreshadows her falling in love with Katniss's father as well as his eventual death in the coal mines. Similar to the cakes in the Mellarks' bakery that Prim so admired, sweets represent joy, beauty, and pleasure, even if rare and fleeting.
Candy as both a source of temptation and pleasure, the canary as both a melodious songbird and detector of poison, plus the fact that the 2nd QQ arena was a poisonous paradise, I feel like these dualities had to be intentional! Maysilee's weapon of choice was poisonous darts. She was both beautiful and lethal.
I would like to imagine that Maysilee had something of a rebellious streak as the original owner of the Mockingjay pin. I would like to imagine that she probably had some important things to say given that the last thing the Gamemakers did to her was rob her of her voice.
Maysilee stuck her neck out for Haymitch and rescued him from a Career tribute before their alliance was formed. I would also like to imagine that, even though she died in the arena, her legacy lives on in the little and big acts of defiance exhibited by the other characters around her.
Her spirit lives on in Katniss's mom who moved from the merchant sector to the Seam to be with Katniss's father. In Madge who brings Gale her mother's medicine after he's whipped for hunting illegally. In Haymitch who becomes a key figure in the rebellion. And obviously in Katniss who risks her life for Prim, Rue, and Peeta.
We're all familiar with the origin story of the Mockingjay as a crossbreed between the mockingbird and a Capitol muttation—the Jabberjay which was intended to gather rebel intelligence but backfired. The Mockingjay thrived outside of the Capitol's control and thus became a symbol of anti-Capitol resistance.
It's called a MOCKINGjay because it made a mockery of the Capitol's failings. Sometimes mockingbirds are called nightingales but Suzanne intentionally used the former in the portmanteau of her fictional bird species because she literally spells things out with her naming conventions!
Thus, any character who acts in defiance of the Capitol's expectations or designs is akin to a Mockingjay. It's Haymitch avoiding other tributes as much as possible and only winning by exploiting the arena's forcefield—the D1 girl's axe backfires, and she's taken out by her own weapon. It's Katniss holding out the berries and refusing to win on the Gamemakers' terms, forcing their hand to let both her and Peeta live. It's Reaper using the Capitol flag for his makeshift morgue.
It's all the tributes who gave solace, comfort, dignity, and respect to other tributes in their deaths (this happens A LOT but notice that all the D12 Victors do this). It's Thresh sparing Katniss for taking care of Rue. It's Peeta playing with the intent of helping Katniss win. It's Mags volunteering for Annie, it's Finnick resuscitating Peeta, etc. It's anyone risking their life or livelihood for someone else's sake. It's care, compassion, and even love persisting in the most brutal of circumstances.
For me, taking risks to care for others is what flies in the face of the Capitol ideology that people are inherently prone to war, violence, and destruction. This is especially true when it happens in the Games which are premised upon an "every man for himself" and "kill or be killed" mentality.
For me, taking risks to care for other people is the power of the Mockingjay symbol. It's also the meaning of the Hanging Tree song; risking everything for the chance of love and true freedom, even unto death. And that kind of hope is what rebellions are built on.
I just think that the Mockingjay pin means so much!!! I didn't even mention how, when Katniss pins it on her green shirt, she associates it with the freedom of being in the woods. It reminds her of her father whose singing voice was so beautiful that the mockingjays stopped to listen. The pin grounds her and makes her feel like she's taking a piece of home, a piece of her father into the arena.
Also, the pin is what makes Rue want to trust Katniss! For Rue, music is the one thing she can't live without, and back in D11 she sings to mockingjays to communicate that the working day is done. Katniss offers to give the pin to Rue, but Rue says she likes seeing it on Katniss better.
Also, let's not forget that the pin is a parting gift from Madge, Katniss's friend who truly cherishes her. As with the crowd who offers her the three fingered salute which she attributes to D12's respect for her father or Prim's loveableness, Katniss has difficulty recognizing that people like Madge already respect, admire, and care for her in her own right for her tenacity and bravery.
Madge is very insistent about informing Katniss that she's allowed a district token and implores her to wear the pin into the arena. This is likely a way of honoring her aunt who presumably also wore the pin as her district token. If so, then it's likely that Haymitch would have recognized the pin which may have given him an extra push to do his utmost to save Katniss because it reminded him of the girl he couldn't save.
Anyway, I feel like the intricacies of the mockingjay pin, its original owner, and its connection to the 2nd QQ are a little underappreciated. Like, this isn't even getting into the everlark parallels that write themselves... Please, Haymitch and Maysilee paved the way. They were the blueprint.
Personally, although I'm just as intrigued about the 2nd QQ as the rest of y'all, I'm fine with it being left up to the readers' imagination. There have been some great fan interpretations both in the form of fanfiction as well as the fan film by mainstay pro: https://youtu.be/7mUjssn86h4?si=PNH1rblPBp1Us5pg
I just find it kind of strange that, given how much interest there seems to be around Haymitch's Games, there isn't that much fan content, discussion, or analyses about them. Please feel free to contribute any thoughts, corrections, or reactions to this post!

The Gaelic singer Calum Kennedy was born on June 2nd 1928 at Orosay, Isle of Lewis.
Calum spent his early years in a remote community without electricity or running water. But music and dancing were strong features of his upbringing with villagers regularly converging for ceilidhs and informal music sessions.
His father ran a bus service to and from Stornoway and the family became quite a focal point of the local community and not merely for the sound of melodeon and fiddles regularly heard in their home. When Calum was 10 they acquired a radio - "the first in our village" - a novelty that attracted many visitors and opened his ears to the wider musical world around him.
He regularly sang in church, but attributed his unusual range and powers of projection to wandering on the moors near his home and singing to the cows and sheep as a way of calling them home from the hill.
At this time he had no thoughts of a career in entertainment and moved to Glasgow to work on Clydeside as an apprentice plater. He didn't last long there and went through a series of abortive careers, including a brief period training to be a doctor, a spell as an accountant and three and a half years in the Army.
His sister then suggested he try his luck singing at the Glasgow Mod, a competition-based annual festival of Gaelic arts. Victory qualified him to compete in the National Mod held in Dunoon. He didn't win that year but it inspired him to take his singing much more seriously and resurrect the songs of his childhood, which he performed with rare zeal and passion.
In 1953 he met and married Anne Gillies, herself a fine Gaelic singer, and they started performing together. Calum took the gold medal at the National Mod in Aberdeen in 1955. It was a triumph that launched him to stardom.
Concerts followed in London and elsewhere, and his first recordings. He broadened his repertoire from Gaelic ballads and mouth music to incorporate English-language material and, with his mop of curly hair, boyish looks and dramatic sense of delivery, he caught the imagination of the public at large.
In 1957 he travelled by train to Moscow with another would-be singer and actor, Richard Harris, to compete in the World Ballad Championship, during which the two became good friends and Kennedy acquired a taste for drink and a reputation as a party animal. It proved to be a momentous trip as Kennedy beat 500 singers from all over the world, was presented with a gold medal by the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev and got to perform at the Bolshoi Theatre. He returned a hero and his subsequent recording career included many orchestrated populist songs, with material ranging from "The Skye Boat Song", "Bluebells of Scotland", "The Whistling Gypsy", "Ae Fond Kiss" and "Amazing Grace" to "Keep Right on to the End of the Road" and "Donald Where's Yer Troosers"? His most famous and most acclaimed interpretations, though, were the Gaelic love song "Peigi a Ghraidh" and Byron's tribute to his childhood in Aberdeen, "Dark Lochnagar". Later he composed his own material, like "No No Geordie Munro" and "The Skyline of Skye", though the best-loved was probably the sentimental evocation of his own roots on "Lovely Stornoway".
As powerfully emotive a singer as he was, however, it was his engagingly forceful personality that won the hearts of the public and his escalating fame throughout the Sixties was largely built on regular television appearances. He hosted the first live show on Grampian Television and also starred in his own variety show on STV, almost inventing the template for the archetype Scottish performer of the day with his quips, kilt and irrepressible beam presenting long-running series Calum's Celidh and Round at Calum's.
He lived an expansive life, making big money selling out venues all over the country with his own travelling show, while also leading a busy social and family life, with five daughters. Anne and the girls all featured in his television show Meet the Kennedys and for a while performed on stage as a family group, the Singing Kennedys.
However, luck turned against him in the Seventies. His wife died suddenly in 1974 at the age of 40 after being admitted to hospital for a routine operation. AIt him him really hard and about the same time he was afflicted by throat problems, he didn't sing for two years and when he did return he found that his theatrical approach had lost favour with a public that now saw his robust, kilted persona and sentimental singing as representative of a one-dimensional, stereotypical image of Scottishness. He diversified and became an impresario, buying Dundee Palace and Aberdeen's Tivoli Theatre, bringing Shirley Bassey, Frankie Vaughan and the Billy Cotton Band Show to Scotland.
He was never again to recapture his glories of the Fifties and Sixties, but continued to perform. In 1985 he was the subject of an unintentionally funny BBC documentary, Calum Kennedy's Commando Course, which followed him on a disastrous variety tour through the north of Scotland. In 1986 he married his second wife, Christine, and they had a daughter together, but divorced.
Despite persistent health problems that resulted in a heart bypass operation, he made a stage comeback in the 1990s and was still performing at the age of 70. He suffered a stroke in 2005 but there was a continuing awareness of his work through a couple of compilation CDs, The King of the Highlands and Sailing up the Clyde, of tracks recorded in his heyday.
His eldest daughter, Fiona Kennedy, has taken on his mantle as a television presenter and singer of Gaelic songs, she continues to tour and sing, her latest album coming just a month ago.
There are so many songs I could have chosen to post to celebrate Calums birth date but as it's my birthday today I have chosen my favourite song from him, The Skyline of Skye, the lyrics are below.....
The islands are calling me back home again And I long for the skyline of Skye. A lassie is waiting, sweet flow'r of the glen, 'Neath the beautiful skyline of Skye. I left her one springtime; oh, I loved her so! The blue mountains whispered, "You're foolish to go." As I sailed with the tide, something died here inside. How I cried for the skyline of Skye! In mem'ry I'm hearing the ghost of her tune That keeps haunting my heart with a sigh. It tells of her parting that sad afternoon. It's the song of the skyline of Skye. The road to the islands comes down to the sea, And that's where my love will be waiting for me, And together we'll stay till we're both old and grey 'Neath the beautiful skyline of Skye.

ANALOG AUDIO/VISUAL ARTIST AMULETS (RANDALL TAYLOR) ANNOUNCES NEW LP, 'BLOOMING'
Set for release on April 2nd via The Flenser, listen to the album’s atmospheric and ethereal first single, “Heaviest Wait."
Tumblr media
The prolific, Portland-based Randall Taylor is an audio/visual artist best known for his musical project, Amulets. Taylor’s work uses analog tape and its imperfections to explore themes like degradation and nostalgia and their relationship to technology and to the self. By constructing and modifying tape loops and repurposing antiquated cassette players, Taylor creates dense, never-ending, looping soundscapes for both his live performances and sculptural sound art installations.
Taylor's new album, Blooming, was fully written and recorded in quarantine in his home studio in early 2020.  His personal life was in upheaval as was the world around him — the isolation, sadness and change had Taylor missing “… what it felt like to feel alive and the need to feel that again,” he says.  With widespread global pandemic and social distancing protocols in effect, Taylor would go on solo daily walks to clear his head and was struck by all of the blooming flowers surrounding him during springtime in Portland.  Within that beauty came his realization that nothing lasts forever and that everything is cyclical—  ultimately resulting in themes of growth, decay, melancholy and beauty inherent throughout Blooming.  Taylor says that the songs on the record became a part of his processing and journey, blossoming into a new life and outlook. "It was a very moving and cathartic experience to genuinely express and record all of my emotions during such a weird time, while also reflecting the anxiety and isolation the world was also feeling,” he comments.
Listen to Blooming’s first single, “Heaviest Wait,” on YouTube.
Taylor has performed across the country at numerous festivals and opened for such acts as This Will Destroy You, Efrim Manuel Manuck (of Godspeed You Black Emperor), Benoit Pioulard, and Steve Hauschildt to name a few. His solo exhibition work has been on display in Austin, TX at Dimension Gallery and most recently installed in Portland, OR at Variform Gallery. Taylor was also recently published in the latest Kim Bjorn book series “PEDAL CRUSH” as an artist and inspirational creator. His last full-length, Between Distant and Remote, was released on Beacon Sound Records in late 2019, which he toured along the west coast in support of.  Most recently, Amulets collaborated with Flenser family Midwife on the track "Heaven" for her new split cassette.
As Amulets, Taylor pays homage to the paradox of memory and growth, creating a deeply immersive musical landscape in the process.  Amulets brilliant new full length Blooming is a fitting debut for The Flenser — look for the album to be available on April 2nd, 2021.

Chihayafuru #40:  Perfect whiteness laid on Mount Fuji's lofty peak
AKA. So the verse in the episode’s title refers to the Fujisaki t-shirt? Lmao.
[Previously: In which Kana-chan and Tsutomu were totally kick-ass!]
I can’t believe it - it’s already the 40th episode of Chihayafuru!!! Obviously i’m still a long way from the end of season 2 and starting season 3, but still, the 40th episode! This is not the 40th natsumi-watches post for Chihayafuru. yet it kinda felt like it? Probably because I often took forever to get one post out so to even just get to this milestone seemed a little far-fetched. Nonetheless, here I am, miles behind everyone else and against all odds, steadily moving forward.
*crickets*
Well... more than 2 weeks have passed since I wrote the first paragraph, lmao. It’s really silly that I’m taking so much more time to finish up one post and this speed is goddamn slow, considering the lessened work load due to COVID-19 (yes, there is mention of the pandemic right in the middle of an anime watching post). But there are actual worthwhile reasons for my slowpoke-pace of posting! I got hooked by this novel by Kawabata Yasunari - Beauty and Sadness, and spent nearly 2 weeks on writing about chapter 2 in my reading diary, and that is so amazing because a. I was doing some serious literary thinking (it seems wrong to use the word analysis cos the writing itself was still quite messy and done without any research) and b. I initially didn’t enjoy the novel much after the first chapter and skim reading it till the end was not a good idea (but did have its silver lining!) so it is a big deal to revise my opinion so drastically after the 2nd chapter! Besides this lovely return to my more erudite roots, the last few days have been wholly occupied by the 4th season of Boku no Hero Academia (look forward to my upcoming tribute post to this super duper awesome life-saving series!!!). It’s been a much better and funner ride than I expected, in spite of the lessened screen time for my babies Kacchan and Shou-kun (but what a spectacular return though!).
*rant over*
Those reading this (wait, plural those, really?) probably didn’t come for the random rant on what slowed me down for the last few weeks. So, I should get back to the program, huh?
Chihayafuru #40 is an episode that both winds you down (a little too much) and winds you up in a somewhat bizarre manner. The aftermath of Hokuo’s defeat is hilarious and touching to watch (Sudo-san giving the gang a piece of his mind lmao). The episode also slows down a bit as we get a closer look at the dynamics of Fujisaki karuta club, run by the formidable coach Sakurazawa. As soon as the tempo picks up with the match-ups, the brake is hit again with 4 out of 5 Fujisaki players walking out of the room during memorization for some needed relaxation. The following conversation between Arata and Shi-chan raises the stakes a bit, what with Arata actually succeeding in convincing Shi-chan to go watch the final on his stead, but it is the promising face-off between Taichi and “Eromu” aka. the captains that finally kicks up the heat. Will Taichi once again lose to the pressure he built up internally or rise above his (frankly distasteful) opponent? Tough call, this one.
Kana-chan’s decision
Tumblr media
“We should consider ourselves lucky! It wasn’t our ace who got hurt. We have first years to sub in! Mizusawa is set up to win.”
The tension over Kana-chan’s withdrawal and injury from the final match is allayed by the rousing encouragement given to her teammates by the injured person herself. The strength of Kana-chan’s conviction can be felt by all and it speaks volumes to her leadership capacity as the mental backbone of the team.
Tumblr media
It is regrettable to see Kana-chan sitting on the sideline but just like she said, Mizusawa is lucky to have new blood to take over when needed. Tsukuba-kun is certainly not of Kana-chan’s caliber but his enthusiasm, when correctly placed, is invigorating. I’d like to think that for all his desire to hoard attention and show off for his younger brothers, Tsukuba actually has a real caring bone, all the more so considering that he is a big brother. He didn’t notice Kana-chan’s injury but that does not invalidate his concern for her.
Sudo-san’s pep talk
Tumblr media
The poor things lol. I love that Sudo-san’s sadistic tendency is not just played for laugh but is also written as a kind of tough love. He freely admitted that he didn’t watch Hokuo’s last match carefully because of his over-confident assumption in Hokuo’s place at the final and took to remedy the team’s low morale with a good dose of cheer. It’s hilarious and dorky how wearing the Hokuo’s good-riddance bright red shirts is a huge sacrifice on the part of the alumni and should serve as sufficient motivation for their adorkable kouhai.
Tumblr media
“This time i will watch the match. Hokuo must end the tournament with a win.“
The Mount Fuji banner
Tumblr media
under which we are disunited
The dynamics of a large school club with manpower to spare are a world of difference from that of small clubs with barely enough members like Mizusawa and even the veteran Hokuo. This gives Fujisaki the advantage of never having to play till you drop, which does not come without a fair share of drama of hierarchy and pettiness.
Tumblr media
This reminds me so much of a certain Igo club from Hikaru no Go (yup, Touya Akira’s middle school nightmare), what with the upperclassmen giving lowerclassmen grief over taking the position of one of their own and the overall unsupportive attitude. Like seriously, even going so far as to demand Rion to refuse the coach’s assignment of playing in the final? And how about wishing the girl good luck instead of crying in the closet over a decision you can’t overturn anyway?
Tumblr media
She seems like a sharp and observant person back when she was watching Chi-chan’s match against Ousaka. Given her familial connection to the reader, she should make for a challenging and interesting opponent to Chi-chan. She’s definitely got my interest piqued so far.
Tsutomu the prophet
Tumblr media
It’s crazy how accurate Tsutomu’s predictions are, from who would be replaced down to the players’ positions. His notes make me think of Deku’s hero notes and they both have a brain for strategic thinking. Shame that it’s unlikely for him to score a win this time, playing against a Sudo-san level player.
Tumblr media
The anguish of Kana-chan
Tumblr media
“... or do the tears come from the feeling it invokes”
Tumblr media
Lawd, this girl. She’s so after my own heart.
Tumblr media
And how ardent the love we share for great voices.
Tumblr media
To each their own challenge
Tumblr media
Fighting spirit ignited by Chi-chan aside, it’s evident that each of them would be facing a challenge entirely his or her own.
Tumblr media
Lmao, the avengers.
Tumblr media
No surprise that Tsukuba is shaking here.....
Tumblr media
Don’t lose that spirit!!
Tumblr media
As always, Tsutomu is awesome - it’s not gonna be so easy for anyone to walk all over him now.
Tumblr media
Take that, Mr. Curled-lashes.
Tumblr media
I love that there’s a tentative bond between the two Tokyo schools. There are well-wishers like Amakusa in the room.
Tumblr media
And it’s not like Tsutomu the prophet hadn’t warned them of the Fujisaki’s habit to get some extra relaxation during memorization time.
Tumblr media
This is Chi-chan’s last match and looking to be her toughest by the minute. Memorizing takes a toll on her and likely so does forgetting. Most of the cards are 3-syllable and none of them Chi-something cards.
Tumblr media
“If I don’t forget everything, I won’t be able to defeat a fresh player in her first match.”
Tumblr media
The baton of leadership was retaken by Taichi, after passing through Tsutomu-kun and Kana-chan, in the most surprising of moves. It’s a little out of the blue for Taichi to be so fixated with beating this Arata-look-alike guy. I mean, sure, he does have an inferiority complex when it comes to Arata and can be just as preoccupied by Arata as Chi-chan but I still ... don’t quite get why this guy?
Tumblr media
“I chose to play against him. If I beat him, maybe things will change.”
Tumblr media
I’m quite worried for Taichi. From past experience, it’s the internal pressure that he stoked up that often proved his undoing. And his opponent is a crafty and experienced one, poking right where it hurt as he brought up seeing Taichi losing to one of the Fujisaka players in a past tournament (which prevented him from ascending to class A). He was also relaxed enough to indulge in a sexual fantasy involving his coach (after lamenting the withdrawal of Kana-chan and her boobs), which is urgh disgusting, but it goes to show how confident he is.
Tumblr media
Yup, real worried for Taichi.
On a side note, I’m really looking forward to seeing Shi-chan being a spectator to the Mizusawa match. How would Chi-chan react to this much-awaited presence? Will she be more motivated to play to the best of her ability? I sure hope Chi-chan’s passion will reach Shi-chan, who is about showing the proper respect to the cards and the game.
Chihayafuru #40 is frankly not much to write home about but it does its job of promising a good game coming up next. Here’s to Mizusawa’s best game ever!
Tumblr media
Until the next time then, folks! Stay safe and AT HOME!!!!

Anime Spotlight - Yona of the Dawn
I really enjoyed this series it reminded me of Fushigi Yuugi which was one of my fav animes when I was a teen. Its got beautiful boys, an intriguing plot and strong character development of its female lead.
The plot is Set in a fictional nation that draws inspiration from a mixture of Japanese, Korean and Chinese cultures, the story follows the redemption of Yona, the sole princess to the Kingdom of Kouka. Yona lives the carefree life of a princess in Hiryuu Castle, being sheltered by her pacifistic father, King Il, and protected by her bodyguard and childhood friend Hak. During a party celebrating her sixteenth birthday, her other childhood friend and crush of many years, Su-Won, comes to pay tribute to her. Upon revealing her intention to someday marry him to her father, Yona is shocked and dismayed when King Il pointedly forbids her from choosing Su-Won as a husband. That night, Yona visits her father's chambers again, determined to convince him to change his mind. Instead, she walks in on Su-Won driving a sword through King Il's chest, revealing that he'd planned a Coup d'état and would become Kouka's next King. She attempts to run away, only to be chased and nearly killed by Su-Won's guards. Hak intervenes and they escape from the castle to Hak's birthplace, Fuuga, the capital of the Wind Tribe. Under the suggestion of Hak's grandfather Son Mundok, Yona and Hak search for a priest named Ik-Su, who then tells them the legend of the first king of Kouka, Hiryuu, and the Four Dragon Warriors who unified the kingdom. Yona and Hak, joined by Ik-Su's assistant Yun, begin a journey to find the descendants of the legendary Four Dragon Warriors in order to survive and save the Kingdom of Kouka.
It has good fights and the bishounen are gorgeous and interesting. Whats great is that the world isn’t black and white and there are two sides to this story. Yona herself grows and becomes less naive about the world she lives in and their is also political intrigue as well as a story of adventure and blossoming love. There’s also humor and emotion and I really wish they’d make a 2nd season!

H, U and W for the ask game. Love the fact that you write Yoon as the soft boy that he is. Keep up the good work!! 😊
H. How would you describe your style?
Soooo I’m not totally sure what my writing style is. I think since I mainly write in 2nd person, I just want to make sure the reader is able to immerse themselves into the story, which is why I give very vague descriptions of their physical appearance. I want you guys to find (even a little bit) of happiness in what I write so, I try to ensure that the content leaves an overall positive effect on the reader.
 U. Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.
This is so hard as there are literally so many amazing people on this site, like its honestly incredible.
I’ll include three but, I could have included at least a dozen other amazing authors
***All of these authors write mature content. Please be advised when visiting their blogs***
1. Caro or @submissive-bangtan (18+)
As if I don’t gush about her enough on this blog lmao. Caro is such an incredibly kind person, I can honestly say she was one of my first friends on this platform. She is always encouraging to her followers/mutuals and seems to handle everything with an untouchable amount of poise. HER WRITING IS SO BEAUTIFUL???? Like she has such a way with words and, pays tribute to the little things in her fics which in turn makes them that much more incredible.  Her writing style is so unique and, has left an impression on me as a new author. She’s also the first sub! BTS writer I’ve ever discovered and, upon finding her blog, I was compelled to start my own
I highly recommend Snow Drop and her entire reactions masterlist (both links can be found here)
Snow Drop
Masterlist
2. Iris or @dark-muse-iris (18+)
I think it goes without saying that Iris has left her mark on the fanfiction community so, I’m sure I’m not alone in saying this but WOW. Her work is beautiful. The way she articulates the emotions of her characters is so powerful?? Does that even make sense? Probably not but, that’s how she makes me feel. When I read her work, I can tell how much she cares about what she’s writing. It’s so apparent. There is nothing on her masterlist that I haven’t enjoyed reading and, there are many things that I have read over and over again.
With that being said though, I strongly recommend her Working Man Bangtan Series (especially Seaside Sabbatical, which is immaculate) and her Call Me Mistress Series. Oh and Daisies and Dinosaurs!
Working Man Bangtan
Call Me Mistress
Masterlist
 3. Jordan or @floralseokjin  (18+)
Another incredible author. Jordan literally blows me away. Her dialogue is so believable and natural? It always puts me right there in the situation with the characters and, keeps me wondering what’s going to happen next. She was one of the first authors I discovered when I first started reading BTS fanfiction and, she has delivered absolutely incredible content ever since. Also, she’s a fellow lover of The 1975 so, she’s already amazing just for that lol
I would recommend aquiver WHICH MADE ME WANT TO CRY AND MELT ALL AT THE SAME TIME!
And Sleepy, which sparked my love for sleepy boyfriend Jungkook, a love that has yet to fade with time.
Aquiver
Sleepy

8th Comedy Monologue
(note: this monologue has some serious parts in between the joke/reference parts)
“Hey, comrades how are you?”
“Good, Bad a bit of both? understandable”
So a lot has happened, the Brits happened and Numberjacks and Moomins are the memes of the month ”
Now, I’m not that into “modern Pop music” so the Brits wouldn’t really be my thing, Jack Whitehall was hosting and I have to say…...his jokes were staler than breakfast toast
I like Jack’s work but boi he has his cringy moments and this was one of them, I,  I, can’t
But I’m not the one to talk about cringe, as I have had many cringy moments in my life, sometimes I’ve muddled up words saying things like “shut your noses” and sounding so overexcited I sound like a parrot
But that wasn’t all, as part of the photography class I go to me and my classmates had to go to hazel bank, it’s a nice seaside park sort of place, I’ve been there twice so far and I’ve enjoyed my times there, but the day before our first visit I was so tired that when I was trying to tell one of my mates about the visit, I couldn’t word my words right and I ended up saying……
“We’re going to the bank”
“Yup, Why I did that I have no clue, there would be no point to us visiting a bank anyway, there’s a big difference between the place you get money from and the place where you see a lot more dogs than you find places to take photos.”
“Seriously”
“Now a lot of things have changed since we last chatted, I’ve realised a lot of my material references old tv shows and films that some of my audience wouldn’t recognize,Derry Girls ended its 2nd season,I saw the stage version of Rocky Horror,I performed at a MicNight for one of my pals,Umbrella Academy premiered and I started watching Grace and Frankie which is like an American Abfab but with Jane Fonda
Hannah Montana was my childhood as it was for many others, we have Miley, the Jonas Brothers and Not Drake and Josh
now we just have to wait in the horizons for a
*Big Time Rush reunion*
Derry Girls was amazing, Congrats to Lisa McGee, Nicola Coughlan and all the people that bring the show to life
Even some of my American friends have tuned into it, from Dougal McGuire freaking out over the gang trying to flush hash filled scones down the toliet, the Take that episode and the masterpiece that was the formal episode with the Carrie tribute Rocky Horror was a mixed experience, the performances and crowd interactions were class, but I got wine spilt over me and I had to wait for ages for the train to take me and my mum home.
Now, MicNight that was something
It was for the birthday of one of my mates,Susi, I was just sitting around listening to indie bands and catching up with old pals for most of it,but another pal of mine was there, an online friend of mine who is now also an offline friend, my dear comrade Connor, he was such a nice bloke and then..my big break arrived I got to perform one of my poems, my Freddie mercury tribute and it got a round of applause, that was an iconic moment for me, although as I was finishing my reading I did have to remind them I wasn’t finished, it was like 12 pages long, what a good day, ...then times weren’t so good.
I was being a complete moron,I had to think about some things, days past and I’ve learned some things, I shouldn’t act like an expert on topics I barely know anything about...
Now let me tell you just remember to be yourself, honestly, there’s nothing better you can be than your true self.
Now,...back to what I was talking about previously…
Oh yeah
Robert Sheehan
As a former emo kid, I loved My Chemical Romance, even though I had gotten into them after they had already spilt, Danger Days is better than welcome to the black parade and Gerard Way was and is one of my inspirations
Recently, one of his comics got turned into a Netflix series, Umbrella Academy and I know what your thinking
Robert Sheehan is amazing at playing Klaus...and your 100% right
There was also that Motley Crue movie and boi I have some tea about that
the term it's Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll is quite a gross term now
when you consider groupie culture, excess and all the other bad things some  "rock stars" did offstage
Bad things that would sometimes involve those of which who are underage
YES, LIKE JIMMY PAGE WE’RE TALKING ABOUT HIM, THE FILTHY NONCE
The Music industry is a dangerous and very problematic place
*inhale*/*exhale*
Ok let’s get back to some good news
Um Bad News are better than Motley Crue, and the cursed Black hole of the universe has finally been revealed to the world and Pluto has a new sibling
but the space scientists think
it needs a more suitable name than 225088 2007or10,
welcome to the world, I learned that Boy George is part Irish and…
Now I’m on Easter break
A bit of advice
if someone is stressed out about an event and all the planning and transportation takes longer than usual
Don't add another negative thing onto that because you'll make them explode
So I visited someone, a mate of mine, Susi again, I met her when I did the performing Arts course, amazing person but all of my mates are amazing anyway
This event was just a fun hang out day, with some of her mates who I hadn’t met before that day, they ended up being amazing too, I gave Susi the easter egg and we talked about lots of things, Motley Crue drama, the musical Jesus Christ Superstar….and a certain actor.
Oh, what was his name again?
Colin Crigson? No, “Mr Mayo?  Nah that can’t be it
“Mile?,Meal?, Maple?,....*clears throat*
Ah Ha! I know now you know the bloke I’m talking about
Rik Mayall,
Yes, him
Basically, I was giving them a history lesson on “the guy who played Drop Dead Fred” and why he was such a icon”
and it was great, I showed them pictures and we watched his appearances in the rocky horror sequel and I just loved telling them about him,
He was and is an icon for many reasons
He innovated British comedy, He was a very talented actor who worked in Film, Television, Music and Advertising, he was a proud feminist who was for Equal Pay, in the 80s he was in a public information film educating people about how to use condoms as part of the First Aids discussion programme.
he has inspired and performed for the following…Simon Pegg, Charlie Brooker, Mark Hamill, Jack Nicholson, Robin Williams, The writers of It's Always in Philidelphia, James Buckley, Noel Fielding and myself.
The day was a day to be remembered, and then what happened after that?
While I was posting my rik pics on twitter, I ended up posting a photo from Rik’s university days, the photo was of uni Rik with his mates, it was a black and white 1970s photo and he had on his big vampire esque gown with his semi-long blonde hair and a big smile
what did one of my internet mates say?
“You look just like him in this photo it’s weird”
*blinks*
“Why thank you, whether that’s a compliment or fact is up to you”
But honestly, that felt so good
To be compared to a icon like that is just such a nice thing to hear
*snorts a laugh*
I guess I’m the people's poet of the 21st century
I am going to live the best life that I can if you want to lead a full and complete life you have to be free. Freedom is paramount, your future is as bright as you make it...
It’s about the connection, not the destination, Spread Kindness
Some of those mantras are his and a few of those mantras are my own
Maybe...just Maybe times will get better, we can work together, we can make our planet beautiful again, for your all my best friends, the best friends I’ve ever had.

YAO CHEN AT #FEFF21
Tumblr media
80 million dedicated followers on the web. Listed by Time Magazine and Forbes as one of the 100 most influential people on the planet. Compared by journalists to Angelina Jolie both for her extraordinary beauty and for her tireless commitment to social activism. We are, of course, talking about Yao Chen, the wonderful Chinese activist-diva who, on Thursday the 2nd of May, will be collecting her Golden Mulberry Award for Outstanding Achievement at the 21st edition of the Far East Film Festival.
On the stage at Udine to present eagerly-awaited social thriller Lost, Found, directed by Lue Yue - a vivid reflection on civil rights and the condition of women in contemporary China (and, lest we forget, produced by Feng Xiaogang) - Yao Chen began her career as superstar in 2005 on the small screen with TV series My Own Swordsman. Two years later, she was the protagonist of another very popular series, Lurk, where she played a guerrilla. And the rest is, as they say, history, after she burst onto cinema screens in Sophie's Revenge (2009), Color Me Love (2010), Caught in the web (2012), Firestorm (2013) and Monster Hunt (2015).
A strong woman in a world that needs all the strong women it can get.
And, until Saturday the 4th of May, the world will be at the "Giovanni da Udine" Teatro Nuovo for the twenty-first edition of the Far East Film Festival: a line-up of 77 titles (52 of which in competition) from 13 countries and regions, a retrospective, a monograph, a tribute to new independent Korean cinema, the world-premier of a restoration and more than 100 themed events organized around the heart of Udine.

10 Movies You Should Watch This Halloween 2017
October is here, and now is the time to get into the Halloween spirit! Instead of the traditional “best of” Halloween movie list (don’t need to mention yet again how much I love The Shining, the first two Halloween films, and The Exorcist), here are a list of 10 movies (in release date order) that may not be as well known or not usually listed among the upper echelon of scary movies but perfect for this 2017 Halloween season and worth a look.
Eraserhead (1977)
Tumblr media
“In Heaven everything is fine…”
The spectacular new season of Twin Peaks just came to an end last month, so this Halloween would be the perfect time to take a look back at David Lynch’s brilliant feature film debut on its 40th anniversary.  The film create a sense of total dread and darkness in its beautiful black-and-white cinematography, eerie sound design, and well-acted performances. It is pure horror!  The film has inspired a significant number filmmakers over the years, including Stanley Kubrick while he worked on The Shining. It may be one of the most important movies ever made!
Phantasm (1979)
Tumblr media
“Boooy!”
This cult-classic horror film was remastered in HD this past year (with the help of JJ Abrams) so this Halloween would be the first time to experience the film in its full visual glory.  I love the creepy music, eerie sets, and low-fi feel of the film; feels like being in a haunted house. Really high quality for such a low budget and some really good scares, especially Angus Scrimm as the menacing Tall Man. If you like movies such as Stranger Things, Super 8, and the Halloween series you will love Phantasm!
Vincent (1982)
Tumblr media
“Vincent is nice when his aunt comes to see him, but imagines dipping her in wax for his wax museum.”
This early Tim Burton stop-motion short film is a masterpiece! Vincent Price provides the narration with great inflection.  The animation is top-notch and some of the best stop-motion work ever; love the dark visuals and music.  At some points it feels like we are getting a glimpse at Tim Burton’s childhood.  The short celebrates its 35th anniversary this year, and its influence shows in the many stop-motion films that have been released since (i.e. Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, ParaNorman, Frankenweenie). It’s almost as if all stop-motion animated films have to be horror-themed and this one was the first.
Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
Tumblr media
“Happy, happy Halloween, Halloween, Halloween! Happy, happy Halloween, Silver Shamrock!”
Most overlook this film and pass on it as “the one without Michael Myers,” but Season of the Witch is actually a great horror film in its own respect. John Carpenter’s idea of having a different Halloween-themed story with each sequel while maintaining some of the same crew and cast (albeit in different roles) was way ahead of its time and now seems to be commonplace with American Horror Story changing its story and characters every year.  I love the cinematography, special effects, scary soundtrack, especially the dark “Silver Shamrock” commercial song.  The movie also celebrates its 35th anniversary this Halloween.  Definitely worth another look because it is actually a good horror movie, especially if one doesn’t think of it as a Halloween sequel.
Return to Oz (1985)
Tumblr media
“There’s no place like home!”
Many see this movie as the weird Wizard of Oz sequel. However, it stands on its own as a truly unique fantasy adventure film. It is actually quite dark in parts; more in the likes of The Neverending Story or The Dark Crystal than the 1939 original.  This movie is great for Halloween with the fall setting, the Halloween visuals (i.e. Jack Pumpkinhead, the thousand-head wicked witch Mombi), and the spooky interpretation of Oz.
Stephen King’s It (1990)
Tumblr media
“They ALL float down here. When you’re down here with us, you’ll float too!”
If you like the new IT adaptation (or if you don’t), definitely check out the 1990 original. The new film has more impressive special effects and is a better movie overall, but the 1990 miniseries holds a special nostalgic place in my heart and is much scarier thanks mostly to Tim Curry’s terrifying performance as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. This film also would make a great introduction to the horror genre to younger viewers because it scary without the excessive gore or gratuitous sex found in many horror films.
Halloweentown (1998)
Tumblr media
“Being normal is vastly overrated.”
With the passing of star Debbie Reynolds this past December, this Halloween is the perfect time to pay tribute to the late actress by watching one of her best films.  My siblings and I watched this film and its sequels (the 2nd one is good too, 3rd and 4th are not so much) every Halloween at our grandparents’ house. Not really scary as much as it is a fun Halloween movie. I love the decorative set designs of the town (it’s a place I would love to visit if it were real) and the cool costumes used for all the monster characters who live in Halloweentown. It’s a movie all ages can enjoy!
The Sixth Sense (1999)
Tumblr media
“I see dead people.”
With writer-director M. Night Shyamalan making a successful career comeback earlier this year with Split, this Halloween is the perfect time to take a look back at the film that made him a celebrity filmmaker. The atmosphere and performances are incredible!  I used to watch this film for the horror elements as a kid and in my teen year, but now as an adult, I see this more as a film about love and relationships.  There are some scenes that really hit me deeply on an emotional level, especially in the scene where Cole tells his mom how much her mother really loved her and the final scene with Malcolm and his wife.  One watching this movie can see why Shyamalan was at one point thought to be the next Spielberg.
Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007)
Tumblr media
“Behind these eyes one finds only blackness, the absence of light.  These are the eyes of a psychopath.”
This Halloween marks the 10th anniversary of Rob Zombie’s Halloween film (my dad and I saw it theaters on opening day when I was a high school freshman). It is quite possibly the best horror film of the past 15 years! Though not as much of classic or as scary as the 1978 original, the 2007 film stands above other horror remakes (i.e. Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, The Fog, Prom Night, Psycho, Amityville Horror) and succeeds by being its own thing and not trying to be a carbon copy of the original.  I especially like the performances including Malcolm McDowell as Dr. Loomis and Daeg Faerch as young Michael Myers.  Also some really great cinematography and use of colors and overall pacing that gives the story a grand scope.  Plus it has a killer soundtrack featuring awesome songs like “God of Thunder” by KISS, “Baby, I Love Your Way” by Peter Frampton, and “Love Hurts” by Nazareth.
Trick ‘r Treat (2007)
Tumblr media
“Always check your candy.”
Good elements of dark comedy are sprinkled throughout this colorful horror anthology. I like how the film is several Halloween-themed shorts that are all tied together.  It’s the rare horror film that is both fun and scary!  Also check out writer-director Michael Dougherty’s short animated precursor “Season’s Greetings,” really retro and creative!
Happy Halloween!  By the way, as an added treat, here is a picture from my animated Halloween short in post-production called “Halloween Cat.”

"Baba O'Riley" is a song by the English rock band The Who. It is the opening track to the band's studio album Who's Next, and was issued in Europe as a single on 23 October 1971, coupled with "My Wife".
Roger Daltrey sings most of the song, with Pete Townshend singing the middle eight: "Don't cry/don't raise your eye/it's only teenage wasteland". The song's title is a combination of the names of two of Townshend's philosophical and musical influences, Meher Baba and Terry Riley.
"Baba O'Riley" was included in Time magazine's list of the All-Time 100 Songs, Rolling Stone's list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time", and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.

Background and composition[edit]
Townshend originally wrote "Baba O'Riley" for his Lifehouse project, a rock opera that was to be the follow-up to the Who's 1969 opera, Tommy. In Lifehouse, the song would be sung at the beginning by a Scottish farmer named Ray, as he gathers his wife Sally and his two children to begin their exodus to London. When Lifehouse was scrapped, eight of the songs were salvaged and recorded for The Who's 1971 album Who's Next, with "Baba O'Riley" as the lead-off track.
Townshend stated in an interview that "'Baba O'Riley' is about the absolute desolation of teenagers at Woodstock, where audience members were strung out on acid and 20 people had brain damage. The irony was that some listeners took the song to be a teenage celebration: 'Teenage Wasteland, yes! We're all wasted!'"[4]
The "Baba O'Riley" title combines the names of Meher Baba and Terry Riley, two of Townshend's philosophical and musical mentors.[5] The song is often mistakenly called "Teenage Wasteland", after the phrase repeated in the song. "Teenage Wasteland" was in fact a working title for the song in its early incarnations as part of the Lifehouse project, but eventually became the title for a different but related song by Townshend, which is slower and features different lyrics.[6] A demo of "Teenage Wasteland" is featured on Lifehouse Chronicles, a six disc set of music related to the Lifehouse project, and on several Townshend compilations and videos.
The song uses a I-V-IV chord progression and is composed in the key of F major. However, it was recorded using the European "A" which is 446 HZ rather than the standard 440 HZ.[7]
Recording and release[edit]
"Baba O'Riley"'s backing track was derived from the Lifehouse concept, where Townshend wanted to input the vital signs and personality of Meher Baba into a synthesiser, which would then generate music based on that data. When this idea fell through, Townshend instead recorded a Lowrey Berkshire Deluxe TBO-1 organ using its marimba repeat feature as the backing track.[8] This modal approach was inspired by the work of minimalist composer Terry Riley.
The song was derived from a nine-minute demo, which the band reconstructed.[9] "Baba O'Riley" was initially 30 minutes in length, but was edited down to the "high points" of the track for Who's Next.[10] The other parts of the song appeared on the third disc of Townshend's Lifehouse Chronicles as "Baba M1 (O'Riley 1st Movement 1971)" and "Baba M2 (2nd Movement Part 1 1971)".
"Baba O'Riley" was released in November 1971 as a single in several European countries. However, in the United Kingdom and the United States, it was only released as part of the album Who's Next.
Reception and legacy[edit]
The Who
performing Baba O'Riley live at Manchester Arena in 2014.
"Baba O'Riley" appears at No. 349 on Rolling Stone's list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time".[11] The song is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.[12] The band Pearl Jam regularly plays a cover of the song during concerts, and a readers' poll in Rolling Stone awarded this cover as #8 in their Greatest Live Cover Songs.[13]
The Tubes performed the song on 9 September 1978 at the Knebworth Festival in tribute to Keith Moon, who had died two days earlier.[14]
"Baba O'Riley" was used as the theme song for the popular television series CSI: NY (2004–13); each CSI series used a Who song as its theme.[15] The song plays in the opening segment of the Miami Vice episode "Out Where the Buses Don't Run" (season two, 1985).[16] One of the working titles of That '70s Show (1998–2006) was "Teenage Wasteland," a reference to the repeated lyric in the song.[17] The song was also used in trailers for A Bug's Life (1998), American Beauty (1999), Resident Evil: Retribution (2012), and The Peanuts Movie (2015).[18] The song has also been used in episode 14 of season one in the TV series House and in episode 10 of season one in the TV series The Newsroom. A remixed version of this song, re-done by Alan Wilkis, appears in the 2012 remake of Need for Speed: Most Wanted, as well as the Family Guy season 13 episode "Quagmire's Mom" and episode 11 of season one of Superstore.
Since 2003, "Baba O'Riley" is played during player introductions for the Los Angeles Lakers during home games at the Staples Center.[19] The song is played prior to live UFC events during a highlight package showing some of the most famous fights in the mixed martial arts company's history.[20] It is also the official theme song of competitive eater Joey Chestnut.[21]
At both the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics, the track "The Road Goes On Forever" by High Contrast is used during a countdown to the start of the proceedings, this song samples Baba O'Riley with a higher tempo as a 120bpm dance track.[22] Baba O'Riley was then performed by the Who as their first number during the last musical segment at the closing ceremony, with Daltrey singing a changed lyric of "Don't cry/Just raise your eye/There's more than teenage wasteland".[23] The song was also sampled in the song "Best Song Ever" by One Direction. Baba O' Riley is also used as the pregame music at Sanford Stadium and is played approximately 7 minutes before every Georgia home football game.

Jennifer Lopez, Alex Rodriguez's relationship timeline, from secret romance to 'power couple'

Jennifer Lopez, Alex Rodriguez's relationship timeline, from secret romance to 'power couple'
Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez have been together now for more than a year. (Ethan Miller/Getty Images for Caesars Entertainment)
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez were a match made in New York City — literally.
The beloved New Yorkers found love with one another nearly a decade after first meeting at a baseball game in Queens, though A-Rod has hinted in the past the pair may have met even earlier than that. At first, the pair kept it quiet but their silence was short-lived. After just two months of dating, they went public, and they never looked back.
From gracing magazine covers to attending events on behalf of their significant other, the pair have quickly grown to be known as one of Hollywood’s biggest “power couples.”

Here’s a look back at the couple’s flourishing romance.
2nd-anniversary, February 2019
Arod and JLo marked two years together in February.
On Feb. 4, the day after they officially became a couple, Rodriguez posted a romantic tribute to his love.
“I can’t believe it’s been two years. Only 730 days, which have flown by, but it feels like we have been together forever. We are meant to be, and how much you mean to me cannot be put into words,” he wrote, in part. “From baseball games, to traveling across the world to shows in Vegas. We have done it all together and every moment with you is cherished. Where this road will take us next is unknown but there is no one else I would rather have by my side. The journey is just beginning and I am excited for what’s ahead.”
Rodriguez gushed that there’s “no one like you” while posting a slideshow of some of his favorite moments over the past two years.
Likewise, Lopez also humble-bragged about her number one fan in a sweet post.
“Two years of laughter. Two years of fun. Two years of adventures.Of excitement of growing and learning. Of true friendship. And so much love!! You make my world a more beautiful safe and stable place… in the midst of our ever-changing, ever-moving life… you make me feel like a teenager starting out all over again… Every time I think I have you pegged, you surprise me in the most wonderful ways reminding me how blessed I am to have found you now in this moment at this time… our time… Te Amo Macho,” the singer wrote on Instagram.
Wedding bells ringing? November 2018
Lopez shut down engagement rumors on Ellen DeGeneres’ show in November. The television host joked about Rodriguez texting her prior to airing that they were planning on getting hitched.
“He did not say that. He did not say that! Let me see the text,” Lopez joked.
When asked whether she believes they will ever get married, Lopez, who has been dating A-Rod for “a couple years,” said she wasn’t sure.

AMAs, October 2018
The couple attended the American Music Awards together in October 2018.
“There’s nothing this woman can’t do,” Rodriguez wrote on Instagram, tagging Lopez’s upcoming film “Second Act.”
Birthday girl, July 2017
Rodriguez celebrated his girl’s 49th birthday with a series of never-before-seen snapshots of Lopez.
“When we were kids, birthdays were exciting because it was all about the gifts we would be getting,” Rodriguez captioned an Instagram gallery in July 2017. “A new bat, dance shoes, maybe a new CD (yes I’m old!).”
The 42-year-old continued, “I see firsthand how that’s changed for Jennifer, and how she’s found joy in sharing with others. For someone who has been about giving everything she has 365 days a year—to our children, our families, the world—I hope today, we can give you all the happiness you deserve. I love you mucho Macha 13.”
Cover girl, March 2018
Described as being “on top of the world personally and professionally,” Lopez was named one of Harpers Bazaar’s spring cover stars.
“He sports-metaphors me to death, and now I do it to everyone else,” Lopez joked.
A-ROD’S GIRLFRIEND JENNIFER LOPEZ FLAUNTS HUGE DIAMOND WHILE ON DATE NIGHT
“Baseball is just like life,” she added. “All you want to do is hit a home run.”
Happy 1-year, February 2018
Before performing at a pre-Super Bowl LII show, Lopez took a moment to give her boyfriend some praise.
“We’ve been together for one year today. I don’t want to get all mushy or anything, but baby, this song’s for you. I love you,” she said, according to E! News.
She later explained to E! why she felt compelled to give her beau some love.
“It was our little anniversary, so it was a special night. I kept thinking ‘Oh, God—February 3! That’s our day. Oh, my God! It’s been a year.’ It was more spontaneous than anything else. It wasn’t too planned. I thought about it, and I thought, ‘Maybe I’ll do it; maybe I won’t,'” Lopez said. “But it was a great show, in general, and…I don’t know. We felt really good.”
Workout king and queen, August 2017
J-Lo and A-Rod both work hard to stay in shape. The singer-actress posted a candid of the pair after a yoga session in August 2017.
“You push me I push you…” she wrote.
Cover models, December 2017
It’s true. “J-Rod” made their magazine cover debut in December 2017, landing the front page of Vanity Fair.
The couple opened up about their relationship and spilled the tea about how they first got together. Lopez recalled spotting Rodriguez while eating lunch in Beverly Hills. Though nervous, Lopez got the courage to walk over to Rodriguez and say hello.
“I had just come from a promo for my show, ‘Shades of Blue,’ so I’m dressed like my character, like a boy—Timberlands, jeans, curly short hair. He looks at me. I say, ‘It’s Jennifer.’ He says, ‘You look so beautiful,'” Lopez revealed to Vanity Fair.
JENNIFER LOPEZ POSES HALF-NUDE IN A SEQUINED CAPE
The pair later discussed their first date: dinner at Hotel Bel Air. At first, the couple had mixed signals — unsure whether it was a real date or not. But eventually, it was crystal clear. And the rest is, well, history.
“I understand him in a way that I don’t think anyone else could, and he understands me in a way that no one else could ever,” Lopez gushed.
Red carpet debut, May 2017
The couple made their first official red carpet debut together at the 2017 Met Gala in New York City. At that time, J-Lo blasted out a series of photos showing the couple enjoying themselves at the event — from snapping selfies in the car en route to the event to blowing kisses at the dinner table.
“You’re never fully dressed without a smile,” Lopez captioned one of the Instagram posts.
Secret romance, March 2017
Rumors began to swirl around March — about a month after the pair reportedly started dating. At first, they attempted to keep their relationship a secret. Lopez and Drake split around that time after just two months of dating, Us Magazine reports.
“She is his dream girl.”
— Source to People
The news wasn’t completely shocking. Apparently, Rodriguez has always been attracted to Lopez.
JENNIFER LOPEZ FALLS DURING LAS VEGAS ‘ALL I HAVE’ CONCERT, GRACEFULLY RECOVERS
“A-Rod has always been taken with the beauty and personality of Jennifer Lopez,” a source told People in March 2017. “She is his dream girl.”
First sight, May, 2005
The pair first met at Shea Stadium in Queens back in 2005. Lopez stopped to shake Rodriguez’s hand before the first pitch, People reports.
At the time, Lopez was still with her ex-husband Marc Anthony. They even all posed for a picture together.
