leaves dance in the wind, swirling through the air above the inverted pyramid, at first disturbed by a flock of birds whom had taken to the skies and carried upward on a stream of air, up up and away as a young woman watches it's ethereal dance. a crow caws in the distance, leaving a perch high above outside a window of the museum and diving down toward her, drawing her attention as it lands a few feet in front of her. eyes meet and the whole world appears charged in a way she's only felt once before, when she had become more than what she had been. when she had felt power flow through her atoms and charge them with a fraction of the power only the gods held. the gods had still been weak then, on the precipice of reawakening to their full strength yet using some of that power to grant a gift to diana and perhaps also fulfill allison's own wish. this was a world of heroes and she had watched diana even before the world had known of such things. allison had grown up on stories from her grandmother about her great-uncle steve and the war and heard from diana how he had fought and the girl had wanted to be like them both. she wanted to feel powerful and not powerless like she had felt that time diana had had to save her when she was a schoolgirl. and the gods had given her the ability to do that, to fight at diana's side much like dick did bruce.

'it's time young one. the battle foretold is upon you.'

allison hears the words in her mind, thought given a disembodied voice, her footfalls picking up speed as the crow takes off and flies into the sky and disappears over the building. she is not sure what she will find once she enters the building but she shows little patience as she goes through security and nearly breaks the door to the restricted hallway that she enters after flashing her student intern badge without stopping at the desk in a whirl of auburn hair.

meanwhile, diana watches steve with an awed sort of wonder, still overwhelmed by his presence there with her. to have been granted him returned only to have him ripped away before had been almost too much for her to bare. 'i'm already gone.' his words echoing in her dreams often and having only been quieted for a time (yet not completely washed away) by allison and ian having become permanent and constant fixtures within her life. oh she had known them since they were born for diana had remained watchful and involved in the trevor family's life since his death, them opening their arms to her even if they did not fully understand her. but when their mother had died it had been diana who had taken the children in and raised them, for the first time feeling a touch of what her mother must have felt toward her. such had not taken the pain of loss away but it had opened her heart to something else. it had been the first step toward her renewed hope for the world and the children had been an extension of steve in that they were of his family, his sister's descendants. this path had become all the more clear and fated once allison had been gifted by the gods and now those same gods had brought steve back to her once more too.

"yes, yes you are, my love." diana affirms to him as the crow watches them. the gods were at work after all this time. her father… her family ever-present regardless to her distance from them. “i will not pretend to have all the answers. the gods exist, but that is not to say others do not.” she replies, then becomes distracted by the faraway look within his eyes. her hold on him tightens for a moment, as if a sudden fear strikes her that he could be pulled away even if she knows such would not be logical all things considered. she did not believe she had done anything to have caused such ire of the gods to be so cruel. the crow caws outside the window a moment later, steve coming out of his trance too just as the large bird that was so much more than a bird takes off into flight toward the stone below. "steve--" she lifts her hand to meet his cheek, gentle, caring, loving. "--what is it that you've seen? what do they need from us?" though in the back of her mind a part of her already knows, or rather suspects. what could make the gods so active now? what could make them, make hades give steve back to her? could it be the same reason they had blessed allison?

it is then the footfalls of the auburn haired nineteen-year-old skid to a stop upon opening the door to diana's work area and scattering pages of notes of the excavation of the regio v section of the pompeii site across the floor with the sudden gust such speed of opening the door brings into the room. "aunt diana--" allison states, words halting upon the sight of the man she's only seen a few black and white photographs of. allison is the spitting image of her great-grandmother, steve's sister having seemingly gotten most of her genes from the trevor side of her family. "--they brought you back, uncle steve!"

"yes, they did allison. but he's only just come back and we need to--" diana begins though allison's awed excitement over the situation seems to get the better of her.

"i knew something was happening when i saw that crow outside, except it wasn't a crow was it? they said the battle is coming. the one that they changed me for. it's ares. it has to be." allison reveals as she moves further into the room, the door closing behind her and her footfalls halting in front of steve. a part of her wants to hug him in the excitement of the moment though she refrains, unsure such would be welcome from what to him would be a complete stranger. she's heard so many stories about him, she almost feels as if she knew him already.

"steve, this is your great-niece allison. she has a brother too, ian. they came to live with me here in france after... their mother died." she reveals, a brief pause before she speaks again. "they showed your uncle something too." she directs toward allison before turning back to steve. "are you alright? i know this is a lot to take in."

May I please request an info dump about an OC of your choice? Ngl I’m super intrigued by the things I see you posting and I’m the nosy gay who wants to know moooooore 😁

Look what you’ve done, you’ve made me ramble 😂😂 were you aware when you sent this that you’d set off a 1,200 word monster of a post??  The only thing I considered but decided to leave out was gathering the links to the stories involving these characters that I have already posted (though if anyone is interested in that, I will absolutely do it, I don’t have a proper master post for these guys 👀)

But oh my god, I’ve never had someone request an info dump before, I don’t even know where to start! Well, I will fully admit it’s not a super developed world that these characters are in, I haven’t determined any specific overarching story that they all fit together in, I basically just made a little family who have made it good in not completely legal means who occasionally get caught up in fights with their antagonist duo who just won’t leave them alone.

(The rest is going under a read more cause it’s a lot haha)

Tyr is my first character, as in like. He was one of the first characters I wrote with when I was like ten, but he has changed a lot since then, his name, his appearance, even his background, basically everything about him except for his ability has changed. Maybe I should have just made Tyr a new character and kept the original one as is, but he just evolved so gradually and even if he’s nothing like he was almost (god, fml) 20 years ago, I still know it’s the same guy, so it doesn’t feel right to try to have both iterations as two separate characters coexisting in the same world. Maybe I’ll recycle bits of his past that aren’t relevant anymore and tack them onto another character, but I haven’t done any of that yet.

As he is now, Tyr is a black man with his long hair done in box braids that fall past his shoulders, 5’6”, and about 28 years old, with a heavy British accent. He’s protective of his friends and isn’t afraid to fight for any of them, no matter how short of time he’s known them, as long as they’ve given him reason to trust them. His ability is the power to manifest and control flames, which he doesn’t do often but is very adept at controlling it. 

Brennan is another character in the group, I came up with him about five or so years ago and he hasn’t gone through nearly as many changes as Tyr, but his name did change a couple years ago and I pinned down a couple other details around that time. Brennan is a pretty big human being at 6’5”, he towers almost a foot taller than Tyr with broad shoulders. In every way he throws a very intimidating silhouette, built like a rock and hard to knock over, but if one were to somehow pick him off the ground they would find him to be strangely lightweight.

And that is do to his ability, two huge black wings that he’s had since he was very young. Though he is a large person, his bones did not develop the same way an average humans would so that his wings can lift him. They are strong enough to carry him, he is a very skilled flyer with them, but they’re not strong enough to carry another person for very long, though he has managed to catch someone to slow their fall and at least get a little further away from danger. (I think I wrote this incident out but not sure if I ever finished it enough to post, but maybe I shall)

Brennan is white but tanned, short light brown hair and light blue eyes, 30, and uses he/him and they/them pronouns, which I do incorporate both of their pronoun options into my writing, it feels natural to me now when I'm writing and I hope it comes across clearly who is being referred to each time. Another important fact about Brennan is that they are non-verbal, they used to speak as a child but due to circumstances in their childhood that they haven’t divulged to the group just yet, they just eventually stopped speaking. Whether or not he is physically capable of saying anything, even he’s not sure, but he and everyone else in the group have grown comfortable enough with ASL that they can all communicate without speaking as well. 

And then there’s Kaipo! Or Kai for short, she is black/Polynesian, 26, 5’8” with thick curly afro hair. She has a bubbly personality and is really good with computers. She is unfortunately not the most detailed character I’ve ever made, I regret that I haven’t written as much with her, but in the fluffy musings I have about this little family, she is the one that drags everyone out of their bad moods and gets them to laugh through jokes and pranks. She is very much a meme master. Tyr and Brennan can both be heard groaning often at her terrible puns.

Trevor is a relatively new addition (I just went to look at the first thing I posted with him, it was two years ago already what the heck! It doesn’t feel like that long ago) Trevor is lean, 6’1”, white skinned with black hair and brown eyes. On his own, he is a normal human being, nothing unique about him to speak of aside from the fact that he will very much die early. I have not disclosed why, but he is terminal and would die within a matter of weeks. The only thing keeping him from an early demise is the mutual partnership he has forged with Algamoth, a lesser demon that Trevor unwittingly freed from captivity while saving himself. 

Trevor is around 28 years old, while Algamoth is not entirely sure how old he would be considered, but he has been on Earth for upwards of 1,200 years. He is able to exist without Trevor, though not in a very tangible way. Without being in a humans body he is not much more than a cloud or puddle that can fit in the palm of a hand. He is able to heal Trevor’s body, which makes their partnership beneficial to both; Algamoth is protected within Trevor’s body and Trevor gets to keep on living.

I started writing a blurb that would tie them in with the rest of the group, but have not finished it, I need to add it to my to-do list and post it haha

And then finally we have Michael. Everyone seemed to love Michael when I posted the first story that featured him, which that story was the result of a prompt from a Discord server I was on a few years ago. At the time I had no intention to mix him in with everyone else, but I think he would fit in pretty well. As you could probably tell from my ramblings last night, I’m not entirely sure which direction I want to take him, but I do have some thoughts on how to get him from where he is to where I want him to be and it does involve whump, but still pondering if I want that whump to reveal an ability he till now was not aware of. I have a vague idea of what he looks like but it’s not set in stone at all yet.

Other characters that have appeared in my writing are Malichi (Tyr’s boyfriend), Allison (the main antagonist), and Remy (Allison’s right hand). Another character that exists but has only appeared on page once is Promise, who is Kai’s girlfriend. That single story-ish thing with Promise only got one note lmao but tbf it wasn’t a full story, just a song inspired AU.

As of yet I don’t think I have any characters who are definitely straight, they’re all pretty queer in some way. Tyr and Brennan are both ace and panromantic, Kaipo is bisexual, Malichi and Promise are both gay, Algamoth is pansexual. I have not discovered yet what Michael and Trevor’s sexual or romantic orientations are nor pinned down what Allison and Remy are since they in general aren’t super fleshed out, though I have leaned towards them being girlfriends as well, but I’m not 100% convinced on that yet. 

AAHHH Wow, ok I didn’t expect for this to get so long, but I hope this was of interest! Typing this out and regathering info of these characters reminded me of a few WiPs that have never seen the light of day that I would like to finish some day, so hopefully this has given me the spark to do that.

Cameron Mathison on Making Changes and Following Dreams BY STEVE GIDLOW AUGUST 01, 2018 The moment Cameron Mathison received the offer from Hallmark Channel to film A Summer to Remember his answer was a resounding “Yes!” After a slew of projects for both Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, which saw the popular actor working in chilly Vancouver or British Columbia, heading to the tropical location of Fiji was "a no-brainer." Adding Good Witch star Catherine Bell as his co-star sealed the deal. (Mathison is pictured at top and below right with Bell.) “I was given the dates, told we would be shooting in Fiji, and to let them know if I was interested,” Mathison recalled in an exclusive interview with MediaVillage. “I was like, ‘No, I'm not interested,’” he said with a laugh. “I knew Catherine, but we’d never worked together, so having her made it a slam-dunk!" Mathison stars as Will, co-owner of a tranquil Fijian resort, who follows his dream of island life after a failed marriage. Enter Jessica (Bell), an emergency room doctor questioning her career path while vacationing with her daughter Ava (Samantha MacGillvray). Besides a break, Jessica desperately wants to re-experience the serenity of Fiji she once shared with her late husband. Upon arrival Jessica meets Trevor (Paul O’Brien), an Australian thoracic surgeon with whom she has much in common, and following an awkward first encounter with Will, it seems Trevor might get all her attention. “One of the things I really appreciated about Will was his courage,” Mathison said of his character. “He packed up, moved out and really knew what he wanted. He managed to move on from a difficult time in his life and reestablish in Fiji. He followed through on his dream and turned out a happy, positive guy. I really liked the whole vibe about him.” For Mathison, the film's theme of life crossroads and altering your course is something he fully understood. When his long-time portrayal (1998-2011) of nice guy Ryan Lavery on All My Children ended with the cancelation of the series, Mathison found himself in the same position. “We can all relate to certain challenges in life and accept there is a time you need to change,” he admitted. “It’s the theme of the film, but for me, with AMC I don't think I would've taken the risk [to leave]. “I left when the show was canceled, so my hand was kind of forced,” he continued. “I was very comfortable there and maybe even a little afraid to take a chance and close that chapter in my life. But I'm so grateful that it made me go off and try other things. As much as I loved AMC, I feel like this whole second phase of my career has been super-fulfilling. It would never have happened had that chapter not been closed for me. So unlike Catherine's character, [mine] was chosen for me.” While still a part of AMC Mathison discovered his passion for hosting, doing so on I Wanna Be A Soap Star on SoapNet and Instant Beauty Pageant on Style Network. After appearing on Dancing with the Stars in 2007, he began reporting for Good Morning America and now does so for Entertainment Tonight. “I consider myself super fortunate,” he said. “I've worked hard to have a lot of things brewing and a main career objective was to nurture the hosting side of things along with the acting side. It feels really good to be able to see it all come to fruition. There’s a certain amount of fortune and good luck, but I'm so grateful for this phase of my career as it feels all that work is paying off.” Another thing the actor is grateful for is his continued association with Hallmark. A Summer to Remember marks his 14th Hallmark movie, and with another set to begin filming soon, he was taken aback by the number. “It's a lot and it's pretty cool just to hear you say that,” he mused. “I really feel that Hallmark has been so good to me and I hope they keep giving me these opportunities. They know they are very much in line with who I am at this point in life -- my family and my values. It's a very smooth fit and I try to live my life in line with so many of the values that Hallmark Channel emphasizes.” While Mathison finalizes the details of his next Hallmark movie, he shared it won’t be a sixth installment of the successful Movies & Mysteries franchise Murder She Baked with Allison Sweeney. “I believe the deal was to do nine, but it seems we've hit pause after five,” he explained. “I know Allison has another exciting project she's working on, so I wouldn't say never to another one; just not now. “And you can't really blame me for jumping at this one,” he added. “I had some downtime and my wife joined me for the last week of filming. I kept posting to Instagram, but truthfully I stopped because it was getting obnoxious. I’d look at my page and think ‘this is too much, you have to stop.’ We had our own early summer to remember.” Mathison’s summer continues to be memorable. Starting September 4, he will be the permanent co-host of Hallmark Channel’s daily lifestyle show Home & Family alongside Debbie Matenopoulos. “Working with these amazing people … the content, the energy, everything about it … I am so grateful,” he said of the new gig. “ET has been on board making it happen, so I hope to still be doing segments for them. I’m just so lucky it all came together. Hopefully I can do a movie here and there, too. That’s the plan.” A Summer to Remember will be telecast Saturday, August 4 at 9 p.m. on Hallmark Channel.
