A few of my screenshots from Sands of Faith, a Kingdom of Heaven-inspired total conversion mod for Mount&Blade: Warband. Currently playing as King Baldwin IV in the Kingdom of Jerusalem faction and totally ignoring the fact there's no possible way he could have engaged in physical battle in 1185 (when the mod is set), but that's part of what makes it so much fun. You can customize his appearance in chargen, but, due to the game's graphics, even with texture enhancements and my best efforts he kinda looks like a potato. So we're keeping the mask on, lol.
i legit can't even tell who tf i can marry cuz like- they say those who call themselves an admirer of yours are options, but he's also not into women being on the field so like???????
ISTG I JUST WANNA TAKE OVER ANOTHER KINGDOM POLITICALLY W/O HAVIN TO BESIEGE EVERYTHIN LIKE THE OTHER NATION FHGNFHGNFGHNFGHNHFDGN
Ah, so this is the fabled "Touhou Game" that I never bothered to look up after all of these years, because I always thought Touhou was just a franchise about softcore lesbian porn.
What I like about mount and blade is how it inadvertently displays the ills of capitalism, from the perspective of a capitalist, worker, and a vulnerable lower class person.
It is incredibly easy to disregard most of your fighters(workers) even as they funnel large amounts of wealth towards you with their labour. You'll do layoffs just to improve your bottom line, hire cheaper labour (fighters), underpay them, and then dispose and replace them when they've outlived their usefulness. Why invest in a fighter's skills when you can hire two dozen unskilled fighters to beat down your problems with raw, cheap manpower?
When you yourself are working for someone richer than you, you fall into this trap of false achievement, bending over to please someone who is gaining more from you than you are from them.
When you fail and hit rock bottom, you're left to wander aimlessly, completely vulnerable to a world that is not only indifferent, but predatory to your existence.
tfw you wanna befriend praven and king harlaus for the buttery meme of it, but then decide to start a war with the nords, take over wercheg, burn down one of their villages after stealing their cattle, and accidentally collect jarls like pokemon, holding them hostage on the side
not my fault tho if i kept tryna get the jarls to join my side and only one of them showed some interest in taking down his own ruler fhgnfhgnfg
still haven't managed to force my way into some royal family, but we gettin there- just gotta besiege the rest territory of the nords and structure a decent relationship between the other nations first :D
