Approved in Private God wants you to not only recognize that you are marked by Him, but He wants you to surrender to Him and the process that it takes for your purpose to develop and mature. Oftentimes, when we recognize the unique plan God has for our life, we want to skip the process and step into the finished product of what He has declared over us. What God wants to do in and through your life is something that cannot be on display until it is fully developed in Him. God wants to approve of you in private. Being approved in private goes against our culture because we want everyone to recognize and validate what God is doing in our life. God wants to approve you in private because there is something that He is working out of you that wouldn't survive in public. Today, our social media feeds are full of premature declarations shared by people who were marked by God, but were unable to practice the patience to be approved in private. God wants to develop us in private so we can effectively demonstrate our purpose in public. Just because everyone doesn’t know, it doesn't mean you aren’t marked. In the story of King David, before He was king, he was a shepherd. In fact, The day that He was marked by God, he wasn’t even invited to the party, he was serving in the field. He later was invited to the party and was anointed and marked to be king, but was sent back to serve in the field shortly after. We must cancel the idea that elevation must take place immediately. There is a process of preparation in private that God wants all of us to walk through before we demonstrate our purpose publicly. You may be in a place where you know God has called you to greater than what you’re experiencing right now, but God wants to remind you that you’re still marked, even if no one else sees it. Obscurity produces integrity. Your approval is taking place in private by the One who marked you! Reflection: What could God be working out of you in private, before He calls you to demonstrate in public? Prayer: Lord, Help me to not seek approval from others, but from you alone. At times, our agenda is out of line with God's. Other times, it is a Godly agenda but differs from God's agenda, and His is always best and perfect. He will delay our own plans or shut doors to protect us physically, emotionally, mentally, and/or spiritually. "If a man does not repent, God will whet his sword; he has bent and readied his bow; he has prepared for him his deadly weapons, making his arrows fiery shafts." Psalm 7:12-13 . . . In the Psalms we see great joys before us, but we also see great destruction to those who receive the wrath of God. Repentance is when we turn our hearts away from the sin in our lives and pursue God. When we repent, we know that God, who is most gracious, forgives us. This forgiveness does not come from our repentance, however. This forgiveness is Grace, unmerited favor. We receive and are lavished with this Grace because Jesus, the Son, took upon himself the wrath of God in our place. Jesus took upon himself the sword of the Father. He took upon himself the deadly weapons of the Lord. He took the death we deserved. Through this incredible gift we are saved. We are given new life. "Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you, He rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him! [...] He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows." Isaiah 30:23. . . Waiting. Even the pronunciation of that word sounds long, extended, suspended in time. It drags on and on, in the same way time does whenever anyone (even God) asks us to wait. It is simply against our nature, the last thing we would ever consider ourselves "blessed" for, to be forced to wait on something or someone for an extended period of time. And yet...God often pulls the wait card on us. Maybe He tells us to slow down ...maybe He tells us to stop or hold on for a little longer...in any case, He definitely wants us to put everything and everyone else on hold in order to wait on the Lord. . . Recently, I've been swept into yet another waiting season. I'm not exactly sure what I'm waiting on or waiting for yet....but I woke up early yesterday morning to this passage and felt God reminding me that He sees me and LONGS to fulfill His promises to me in His perfect timing. Philippians 4:8-9 (AMP) There will be many temptations to think about things going wrong for your children. Please don’t give in because it can make you lose peace. Philippians 4:9 reveals that practicing Philippians 4:8 will give us peace of mind and keep us in God’s presence. When the enemy comes with lies that evil will befall your children and God cannot protect them, counter lies with God’s Word concerning your children. God’s Word is true, pure, lovely, and everything Philippians 4:8 presents to us. We must center our minds on God’s Word and implant them in our hearts as the guiding force determining our perception and response to life. We cannot know what scripture to engage in countering the enemy’s lies if we do not study and meditate on God’s Word daily. So, I invite you to make time for God’s Word. Signing up for a Bible reading plan is one way to get started. This way, you don’t need to guess what to read daily. Following a Bible reading plan has helped me in my faith walk, and I encourage you to try it. Prayer: Father, you are the source of peace. Your peace calms every storm and gives rest. Give me the grace to think on whatever is true, honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed your word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, and whatever is admirable, of good repute, excellent and worthy of praise. I acknowledge that I cannot do this in my power or might, but by your Spirit, I can center my mind on you and overcome the enemy's lies. Thank you, Father! I ask all these in the name of Jesus.
