Wow, what an ending to this arc. I never expected a mostly episodic comedy to go this far. The two page spread of Nico offering up whatever it takes to save Morihito is such a beautiful piece, and then the despair at the end as we learn what exactly she has given up.

This is still Nemu's estimation rather than knowing the full details, but it sure seems likely. If Nico really has given up her memories of everyone in order to save Morihito that's going to be really rough, and I can imagine the coming chapters being about trying to get those memories back for her, although who knows what that process will look like.

Witch Watch has really cemented its place as one of the best manga in Jump right now, and it seems like Shinohara may even surpass himself and go beyond Sket Dance

Witch Watch Chapter 98

I hereby grant the award for “most forced date plot” to this chapter’s premise.

c’est pathetique.

Anyways, Moi takes Nico on the world’s second most autistic date (Asa Mitaka has the number one spot under control), and it turns out pretty well.

It’s lovely to get an excuse for a date story in such a will they / won’t they heavy central relationship, nice to know that there’s a relationship to build towards.

Nico reflecting on her life with Morihito as she heads towards a confession is such a sweet moment. They've been through so much, but they've never been able to get on the same path. This is what she's been wanting to face head on for so long.

But it's not to be for now. Just as many people has theorized, Komugi is the warlock. This has all been an elaborate trap, and Nico is separated from all of her bodyguards. Shinohara's art is always gorgeous, but this last page is especially chilling, especially with the blood dripping down from the top of the page. Now we have to see if the bodyguards are ready to fight back. Keigo's phonecall to Nemu last week will be key, since she's the variable that Komugi likely hasn't accounted for
