SYNOPSIS

Meredith~

I wasted eight years of my life on a marriage that was doomed from the start. My ex-husband only married me for my family name and money. The Full Release

Infected Mushroom released their new album to fantastic ratings on Monday, March 23. Fans are praising the album, called “More Than Just A Name,” for the clean, well produced psy-trance that permeates throughout each song. The heavy hitting bass will rumble your ear drums and shake the headphones that you are listening to it with. Glitchy, robotic vocals from Amit “Duvdev” Duvdevani bring us back to classics from the likes of Notheir old album, Vicious Delicious. There are only eight songs on the album total meaning that it’s a short one, but taking a closer look at the 58-minute length of the album tells you otherwise. The average song length is around 7:45 - 8:00, giving us an ample amount of time to appreciate every detail that’s been included in these artworks. Erez and Duvdev clearly had an incredible time creating this masterpiece of an album and just wanted to share those great moments with us. In Symphonatic, you can hear Duvdev just freely letting his voice fill in areas where it was needed during the song, which I would bet money on that he just did because he felt that it needed to be there. They may have finished everything else and only on the last play through did he think to just start making noise for a filler. To me, that kind of raw feeling and sound makes the song climb to one of my favorites that they have ever released. The first song on the album, More Of Just The Same, has deep, reverberating frequencies that seemingly bounce around on the air waves entering your ears. The sounds feel as natural together as Yin and Yang, furthering the association by saying that the bass can be called Yin while the high notes and elegantly flowing pads can be the Yang. Every instrument they utilize blends seamlessly together in an intricately assorted mix of sounds and silences. One of the later songs, No Line in Midi, is gathering quite a bit of attention as well, having three distinct time signatures throughout the length of the song. The subtle change in tempo gives the listener a change in pace and time to think about what’s happening in the music. Overall, it’s a fantastic addition to their discography and I can’t wait to see it be performed in person, once the COVID-19 starts to let up and quarantine is over, that is. They usually come to Atlanta every year between October and December so hopefully it’ll be possible for them. If not, then I’ll just catch them at some other point.
