Woohoo finally made some art and I'm only... *checks date* 11 days late to mermay!! Im good at this.

Anyways, here is littol mer traffic light trio just nappin' :3

Mei is based off of a seahorse but the others aren't anything in particular. Also fluffy mer MK!!!! Had some trouble with Red Son's hair, it looks stiff. They are underwater in this art, however I decided Red Son deserved a water proof pillow. The other two don't really get it, but he's fun to nap on so they don't mention how odd they find the concept of a pillow. In this one Mei and Red Son passed out while playing, but MK remembered how much Red Son loves his pillow and put it there for him before taking a nap with them:3 they just sat down on that for a brief break and then passed right on out.

Probably gonna draw lore of these little dudes later if I have the time, and if I do I'll fix up Red Son's design more. It was trouble translating his clothes into body parts, but I think I know how to fix it up in the future, just not while he's laying down. I'll reblog this with some lore attached later^^

Adding to what one of the anons said I just wanted to say that when I first saw your countdown to mermey I was so excited because that sirens and merpeople are one of my favourite AUs (and since I assumed you were probably going to draw sth for it I started writing a fic so there would be more content for people to enjoy) and I got really sad that you had to delete your Twitter because of the drama (I understand why honestly I would have done the same thing in your position) but if you’ll still feel up to posting anything during mermay or any time you want actually (I mean like genuinely no pressure or anything just love) I want you to know that I’ll be there cheering you on!! ❤️ (I have your collab merandreil art as my wallpaper it’s so gorgeous 🥹Ever since you posted it I can’t stop admiring it. I plan to keep working on my MerMay content (you are right to assume I have some fun things planned - both a fic of my own and some other surprises as well). I've been working on this fic and crafting this entire merdrew AU for nearly a year, plus I've already spent so much time researching, working with beta readers and even interviewing a professional aquarist from the Georgia Aquarium. It might not be quite as exciting without the countdown on Twitter, but I've put too much love into this fic not to see it through.

Even if I end up stepping away from the fandom after it's done, I want to see this project finished at least.

They also love to style themselves. with shells and flowers, and are one of the few types of mermaids that cover their breasts with make shift bikinis.

Individual: You are unique, mysterious, innocent, and shy. You have very few friends but are extremely close to the ones you do have. You are very reclusive and introverted in result. Would generally think of yourself as a pacifist and will not fight even when attacked.When you do get close to someone you are compassionate and caring, yet reliant.

To sum it up, These are mermaids that are a hybrid of human and a specific kind of aquatic creature, such as a shark, a jellyfish, koi fish, or lion fish, just for an example. Rare Predator ~ Cecaelia

Species:  Cecaeliae are reclusive, territorial, and malicious. They get along with neither man, merpeople, nor even other cecaeliae. They have the bottom half of an octopus or squid rather than a tail and do posses the inking ability. Many caecaeliae Craft weapons out of the remains and belongings of their victims. They are intelligent and set up shelters in caves, trenches, etc. They normally live in murkier waters and have duller skin to blend in. They are normally reasonably muscular and thick, except for the squid cecaeliae which are still muscular, though thin.

Other Mermaids of the deep dare not cross you, let alone other merspecies. Most other deep sea dwellers only hunt when mandatory, But having not much better else to do You hunt for sport. You have an extreme distaste for the ignorant humans who dare sink down to your levels with their machines and lights. You will not hesitate to stand you're ground, which explains why so many submarine units mysteriously never return to the surface, leaving scientists baffled.

Species: While most mermaids live in some sort of a pod, Deep Sea Mermaids are considered the most extreme loners. They communicate only through sonar echo location unlike most other merspecies. They commonly live on a diet of mainly other fish, making them carnivores. They never have to have territory wars with other merspecies due to the depths they dwell in, Though they occasionally clash with other Deep Sea Mermaids. It is slightly more common for them to wrestle with angler fish. Some particularly prideful ones have been known by legend to wear the teeth and remains of slaughtered angler fish. Deep Sea Mermaids have slim but strong tails and webbed fingers for swift and quick swimming. They have dark skin and tails to blend in with their surroundings, and some have glowing marks to attract prey. They have very large eyes meant to see in the pitch dark and long razor sharp claws and teeth for hunting.

Intelligent Grace ~ Fresh Water Mermaid

Individual: You are graceful, Cautious, and Intelligent. You are capable and enjoy grasping tough concepts with poise. You carry yourself in a sophisticated aristocratic way. They commonly have brown, green, or murky shades of blonde for hair coloration to blend in with the plant life, and almost always green tails. The one that reside in swamps are known for being slightly more aggressive due to the more dangerous animals and climate.

Resilient Survivor ~ Arctic Mermaid

Individual: You are hardworking, serious, and calm. You are cool and collected even under pressure. You tend to have a few close pod mates that you would never let anything happen to. Though you are protective, you usually don't come off as motherly or caring because of your stoic personality. You like to get things done efficiently and quickly and are quite the perfectionist. You don't feel comfortable around large groups and they can sometimes make you feel unheard or even a little irritated due to your quiet and short worded nature.

Species: Arctic Mermaids are cunning and though not built with an overload of brute strength one of the strongest species. Out of the few they have ever had contact with, if they are seen they will not attack or shy away. Though they might leave if you get to close, they will only attack if provoked.
