canon aaitl - zhongli
Tumblr media
summary; actual canon to "another adeptus in the line" series
genre; bullet fic??? not really though, literally just me rambling about my aaitl series while i write the next part, child! reader, father! zhongli
[platonic] [gender neutral]
a/n; im finally opening a taglist for my aaitl readers! you will be able to access it through my bio or the end of this post. when the taglist form says it is no longer accepting requests or responses, i will not be taking reponses during that time. but there will be more chances to join whenever i feel opening it up again.
anyways with that aside, please enjoy some crumbs of content
Tumblr media
okay proper canon things about aaitl!!!
zhongli lives in his teapot that madame ping gave him
i thought abt this bc of a tip thing i saw on the genshin loading
bc like hey if “Adepti use Serenitea Pots as media through which they can channel their adeptal power and create realms and abodes.” then that means zhongli probably has one right????? RIGHT???????
anyone can visit it really he doesn’t care and loves having people over
he’s lowkey a hoarder tho but he really likes presents that he’s given :((
probably has a nice bouquet of qingxin, glaze lilies, and silk flowers
either that or he’s got a nice garden for all of the flowers and herbs or veggies :)))
its so lovely and sweet and so homey for him and you
you like to chew on the sweet flowers when he lets you roam the garden
he doesn't stop you
back to the hoarding, bc he’s a dragon in his heart yk???
he like to grab and keep :] he has a lot of nice gifts from the past and from the present
all organized nicely in his office that’s sort of merged with your room so he can watch over you at night :’)
the office/your room is pretty big in size, it’s like one big open room but it is split with like a half wall sort of? there’s like a curtain you can use when you need privacy but you’re still a baby
he does have a room plan for when you’re older
anyways
even if you don’t like childe, he does not give a damn and will smother you in his love and affection
but also he is jealous everytime you take zhongli’s attention which is all the time really-
frienemies the both of you are
you hate him so much- KDHJSHSJDJS
when will the ginger abuse end 😔😔
you only know madame ping, traveler, hutao, and childe
ganyu and xiao will enter soon AND I MEAN REALLY SOON AS IN IT'S VERY NEAR FUTURE I HAVE PLANNED
but for now you only know stories abt them
you think they're really cool mostly ganyu bc of the horns zhongli told u about !!
you haven't gone through growing your horns quite yet, they exist as sort of small pointy guys on your head but they havent grown in yet
dont ask me how your tail developed before your horns, it makes sense to me
your scales are orange amber colored at the ends and skin color closer to your skin ofc
hutao gave you some old baby clothes she had lying around from her childhood
if you ever babble or speak gibberish, you fucking BET that zhongli is the parent that listens and responds naturally, he’s just so sweet :(
you're a slow learner only bc you literally got reborn as a baby and not only that, you just have no prior experience to anything despite watching over the village you once protected and seeing all the families love and learn from each other
zhongli has yet to find the right person to tutor you since it's more of a high class thing in liyue to even hire a tutor
childe is probably gonna pay the funds for said tutor
zhongli is the kind of father to be like, "for you the entire world" and it would happen <333

warnings: none
the child is still 1 year old :)
a/n; slight filler with some more lore on little spirit reader before they became a dragon <3 it took me a while to pick back up on this series, please forgive me and i hope you enjoy
Tumblr media
you never understood the concept of family. you were but a mere spirit who only watched over a whole village once upon a time, so how much did you really know? even zhongli had called you very young for your age as a spirit. he had mentioned that this was expected to be your form since your spirit years translated to human years. you really knew nothing. it was a scary realization as you thought about it for a little too long. you nearly bursted out in tears of fear, upon the revelation, knowing that you knew nothing about the world you were put into because of some selfish wish of yours.
zhongli seemed to pick up on your lack of excitement today as you had been held by him the whole day without complaint or whines from you. heck, you even tolerated childe as you rested in zhongli’s arms. it was very concerning for him, especially when it was hard to communicate to you in your current baby state.
“my dear y/n, what’s wrong?” it only took those words from your parental figure to make you start sobbing. hands smacking against your eyes in a weak attempt to wipe any tears and snot that was dripping down your face as you could only speak in warbled unintelligible words. “oh my poor baby..” before you even knew it, he was holding you ever so gently, speaking so softly and drying your tears the best he could. he finally understood the pain of being a parent to such young children. he couldn’t stand to see you be so sad and have him be unable to fix it. he wished he knew what to do, he could only comfort you until you would settle down. “i’m sorry i cannot help you..” he muttered, pressing his forehead against yours as if your thoughts would move over to his.
your body was fuzzy with warmth, it felt… familiar. where have you felt this warmth?
your formless self floating with the wind and checking every mine in the bustling village. the warmth.. it was so nice.. the chattering of villagers wanting either riches for themselves or family, you remember it all.
you miss it so much. but then you remember the families.. family.. you wanted that so badly. but you had that with zhongli now. right? that’s his warmth. you could feel it. you always have. why did it feel so different yet so familiar now? you can feel yourself settle down with every calm word he speaks. “you are not the spirit you were before. you are not alone.” you can feel his fingers gently tap against your horns and rub your hair. “this world is not just yours alone to experience. i am here with you.” you relax in his arms as he brushes his fingers through your little flecks of growing hair.
“are you feeling better now?” he asked, watching as you look up at him with teary eyes. “my poor dragon, i’m here.” he muttered, “would you like your blanket?” you manage to blubber out something akin to a yes, letting zhongli rest you against his chest. he's gentle with you, scared that you might break like glass, wrapping your soft f/c blanket around your tiny little body. somehow the cocoon-like feeling makes you feel better, you start to settle into the fluff of the blanket as you let out something close to a purr. "would you like to take a nap, dear? or do you want to take a walk with me? oh, but i'm not really sure if you would be okay with going out after so much crying.." you can only blink at him slowly, barely mustering something close to a sound of agreement.
"i think you would be better off with a nap." he decided, walking over to the small library corner his home had and sitting in the large comfy chair. he grabbed a quilt blanket, laying it over his lap before he carefully grabbed a book. "i hope you don't mind me reading to you." and read he did, reading the modern day books he had brought as you rest in his arms. but one particular story rung clear to you.
"this is the story of a spirit living with humans. though maybe not in the way that you would expect." you can feel zhongli's beating heart and the rumbles of his chest while he speaks as you rest on his chest. it nearly lulls you to a deep sleep but something tells you to stay up just a little longer to hear his story. "back in an old village, one that bustled with children and adults, families lived and mined many ores for the sake of mora. however, with the mineshafts came some concerning dangers, whether it be collapsing rocks or lethal injuries. but there was a spirit."
he paused to look at you, your eyes glossy with curiosity and wonder as you wait for his next words. a gentle smile paints his face, his hand moving to rub your cheek just for a moment before he continues to read.
"there was a spirit that protected the village. this spirit would keep the monsters at bay and the dangers of cave mining away from the peaceful village. no one could hear the spirit but everyone could feel the love and care it had put into protecting the village." you can feel the scales on your cheeks puff out, not in frustration this time, but in sheepish pride.
did people really feel your presence protecting them? did they really feel the love you wished to give to the families for giving you a chance to be the spirit you wanted to be?
“while their legacy was not for long, many souls rested happily knowing that even when they left the village, there would be a spirit protecting them in their lives to keep them safe. hm.. sounds familiar, am i correct, my little one?” his eyes glint with mischief and smugness as he watches you squirm in your blanket cocoon, knowing that this was indeed your story he had just told to you.
“i think that’s enough story for you, dear. do rest my child. i will be here for you when you wake up once again.”

slight spoilers to the latest story quest? i think it's called story quest idk- i literally just mention the new boss and some of its story but i don't think it spoils too much but ehhhhhhhhh who am i to judge
Tumblr media
zhongli had never expected to have you. or more like make you. similar to azhdaha, you were granted life by zhongli. you were granted the ability to live just like any other human. but of course a deal had to be made. you would live as a dragon hybrid human but you would grow up to be the next adeptus in line. you were bound to be granted with a vision but there was no rush. you were merely a child after all.
it was always nice walking around liyue with you. everyone in liyue had a fond look whenever you and zhongli would pass by, the male carrying you to tell you endless stories about the liyue you would come to love and protect.
"papa.." you muttered to zhongli, clutching tightly on his pants as you stood behind him. "where are we going?"
"we're going to the inn, little one, you're just gonna meet your older brother and sister. they're very nice i can assure you." he moved to pick you up and hold you against his waist. "i mean by blood they're not your siblings but that doesn't change anything. you are still family."
he enters the homely inn and heads toward the balcony, but before he could leave to the balcony, he was stopped by verr goldet.
"good afternoon zhongli, good to see you too y/n." you clumsily waved at her, too busy being more focused on the cat that laid on the desk. she had noticed where your focus was, laughing softly. "are you here to see xiao?"
"yes, is he busy?" zhongli asked.
"he's right on the rooftop. i'd just wait until he comes down but he seems like he's not coming down anytime soon."
zhongli nodded at her words, thanking her before going to find xiao. he clutched you firmly as he started to climb to the rooftop. your small hands grasped on his clothes as you watch him climb up to the rooftop with ease.
you look to see an unfamiliar male, moving to hide your face into zhongli's neck. "hello xiao." zhongli greets him, sitting next to him. the young adeptus nods at him in acknowledgement. "i would like you to meet y/n." he started to explain your story, xiao watching you with pointed eyes as you shy away from him and stick to zhongli as much as you physically can.
"they are a child."
"that is true, xiao." he patted your back, urging you to look up to meet xiao. he made you let go of him and turned you around on his lap, making you face xiao. the one thing you immediately notice is the necklace he wears. "they're very new to our world. especially if you consider our ages." zhongli was an old soul and god after all.
"shiny.." you mutter, your hands reaching out for the pretty beads that laid strewn together on xiao's neck. zhongli smiled fondly at your lack of attention onto the actual male.
"little brat." xiao mumbled as zhongli moves you to sit on xiao's lap. you look up at him with innocent beady eyes for a moment before looking down and bonking your head on his chest, feeling shy at the sudden attention from a new person. xiao hesitantly places a hand on your head, patting your hair and any stray hairs.
zhongli watches the scene before him with amused eyes. "it's nice to see you try and bond with your little sibling." he chuckled a bit as he watches you grab at xiao's necklace, much to the older adeptus' dismay. xiao tried to get your hands off the necklace, earning a tiny whine from you.
"zhongli, have you spoiled them already?" xiao takes off his necklace to let you play with it, keeping a sharp eye on you as to make sure you don't choke on anything or hurt yourself. your eyes twinkle, grabbing the necklace and looking at the large blunt arrowhead pendant.
"me? i would never." zhongli sends an innocent smile but xiao knew better. he always liked to dote on him and ganyu when given the chance, he wasn't any different with you.
"have you told ganyu about them yet?"
"ganyu has been rather busy with her duties. i haven't been able to contact her yet."
"xiao!" the two males hear a rather familiar voice, soon turning their heads towards the source to see the other adeptus, ganyu. she nearly struggled to climb the rooftop if not for zhongli offering a hand to help. "ah, hello, rex lapis.." she greeted softly.
"call me zhongli." he reminded her, making the female quickly apologize. "what have you come here for?"
"i was just gonna ask if..." she trailed off as she looked over to xiao, seeing you on his lap. you look up to see the pretty female, quickly looking away to bonk your head against xiao's chest once again. the other adeptus sighing at your antics, as zhongli watched everything unfold with a fond smile on his face. "who is this?"
"this is y/n." zhongli answered, starting to explain the contract you and him made when you were in a different form. you still stayed buried in xiao's chest, said adeptus wondering how to deal with such a shy child... or how to deal with a child in general.
ganyu went to sit in front of you and xiao, "hello y/n..." you stopped fiddling with xiao's necklace and turned to look at ganyu again. she had horns on her head like you did.
"horns...pretty" you pointed at ganyu's red horns, making the female flustered at the compliment. kids always had the blunt honesty.
"ah ah ah... don't point, little one. that's not very nice." zhongli chided softly.
"but her horns..like me.." you pressed your free hand against your own smaller horns that grew from your head. ganyu was surprised by your shining enthusiasm in finding someone like you.
"yes, she has horns like you." xiao mutters, taking his necklace back from your small hands while you were distracted. but your grip was stronger than he had thought, "give me my necklace back, little brat."
"but...i wanna play still, big brother.." you told him. unfortunately, xiao couldn't resist your plea and let you hold the necklace in your hands for a little while longer. zhongli noted that, remembering to tease him about it later.
"ah, maybe you should give it back to big brother xiao, hm? he really needs it, y/n." ganyu makes an attempt to let xiao get his necklace back. and who are you to disappoint the pretty sister? you pouted, hesitantly handing it back to xiao. "why don't you say sorry for keeping it from him for so long?"
"sorry big brother.." you fumbled on your words rather adorably. "won't do it again."
"thank you." xiao muttered as he hands you over to ganyu. "take the little demon."
"xiao! that's not very nice." ganyu said as she adjusts you to fit comfortably on her lap.
"xiao...meanie!" you pointed at him. xiao glared at you as you showed no fear to it. was xiao really gonna square up with a child? maybe. before xiao could say anything else, you reached for ganyu's horns, "big sister..."
"hm?" ganyu notices you reaching for her horns. "you want to touch them?" you nodded, moving closer. but you had moved too close and bonked your head against hers. "ah! are you okay?" she immediately asked as you blinked before bonking your forehead against hers softly, giggling happily. who would've thought that bonking was a love language for you?
"this one is gonna be a troublemaker...i just know it.." xiao gives you a pointed look as you reach out for xiao.
"wanna play with big brother! and big sister!" you send out a toothy smile, soon warming up a bit more to the two older adeptus.
zhongli merely looked at the sweet scene before him, seeing his young adeptus kids get along so well with each other despite the differences they all had. you would fit along just fine. there was nothing he would need to worry about.

[gender neutral, i hope]
a/n; i did a fuck up with the hcs post. whoops. i should've had the age of you be unknown only bc im making this story basically start from like newborn- and not 3 yrs old. anyways- also the stuff I've made before is probably not canon to the series.
this isn't really a series ig? it's more like a bunch of scenarios. close enough
this chapter is just zhongli talking to himself and hoping that you give him a coherent answer in any way
the way i could've posted this sooner-
reader's age; literally a baby, probably 5 months? maybe more?
Tumblr media
december 31st, a new addition to the immortals that lived among humans was born. you.
though you were a mere baby, you knew you would be so much more. i mean after all, not all your memories as a spirit left you.
you knew that and zhongli knew that. although he didn't know that would happen at first. you had to try and blab it out to him with your lack of teeth and ability to talk as you were only 3 months old.
other than those moments of you causing suspicion with your weird knowledge that was far too much for a 3 month baby to know, zhongli had quite the time taking care of you so far.
he went as far as to purchase books about taking care of children. he had never experienced this with ganyu or xiao, so this was very new experience for him. he couldn't be more interested in it. he wonder how mothers were able to handle having children despite experiencing being a woman before he took his current form. he merely walked in the life of a woman and never fully experienced it.
"ah ah, y/n, no chewing. you can't eat that, sweetie." zhongli chided as he pulled the blunt arrowhead away from you. "i know they're not sharp but it doesn't mean it still can't hurt you." you whined, trying to reach for it only to flop right on his lap. he chuckled at your antics, helping you sit back up.
"up you go." you waved your arms mindlessly as he picked you up with ease and placing you right next to him. "hm. y/n, have you met aether yet?" you blinked at him, you definitely never heard of them before. "i'll take that as a no."
he started to explain the outlandish traveler that had recently left mondstadt and traveled to liyue. he had met him through some person you haven't met yet named childe. what a weird name... you had thought as you listened to his story while reaching out for the blunt arrowhead but failing to do so, earning a very amused zhongli. "were you listening to me, sweetie?" you nodded with your whole body, again flopping your body on his lap. "i don't think you were." he chuckled, moving you to sit on his lap.
there was a peaceful silence between you both as you look around the village. you were grateful to see the village you loved and protected for so long and yet you felt sad that everyone had left. zhongli seemed to know how you were feeling, "it's okay to miss the village you loved but change was inevitable. would you like to leave back to liyue harbor now? i think you need to take a nap." you whined in reply, squirming as he stands up holding you in his arms. your hands weakly grabbed at his clothes, while he held you close. "my little dragon, i promise to take care of you. i'll do my best for you."
Tumblr media
zhongli had taken the waypoint right to liyue harbor, hoping you wouldn't be too dizzy from the sudden teleporting. luckily for him, you had fallen asleep in his warmth. your small tail curling around one of the arms that held you and your hands gripping against nothing as you nap.
"good afternoon, mr. zhongli!" hu tao greeted him cheerily before noticing your small body napping, "who's the new face? did you get a wife, mr. zhongli?" she teased.
"ah, it's a much more different situation than that, hutao." zhongli answered as he watches her coo small compliments at you despite the fact that you were fast asleep. "what's their name?"
"their name is y/n."
"they're so cute! you should bring them around more often! i could babysit them!" oh if only she knew... zhongli thought.
"maybe someday i'll take them around. i must head off now. i will see you tomorrow, hutao." hutao smiled in reply, waving him a goodbye as he continued his walk to his home.
he finally arrived home, you still sleeping as heavy as a rock, entering the home to find your room. he keeps himself quiet with his steps as to make sure you don't wake up. you fumbled with your arms, mumbling random sounds. he figured you were sleep talking. he moved to your crib to put you down to rest for a while. but of course, there was no way you would take a nap so peacefully.
you started to squirm in his arms as he tried to lay you down. small whines leaving your mouth, leaving zhongli to still hold you close in an attempt to calm you down. "what's wrong? it's okay, i'm here, i'm here." he rested you against his chest, patting your back to calm you down. "would you like a story?" he suggested, sitting down on a nearby chair. you still squirmed in his arms before blabbing random sounds. he frowned slightly, not very pleased in seeing you frustrated and grumpy.
he pondered for a moment before realizing what he had needed to do. he got up, walking over to his bedroom instead, "would you rather stay with me?" he wondered aloud. he put you down on the bed and to his relief, you had started to relax, your bright eyes staring at him with joy. he thought for a moment how simple the request but maybe it was because babies would rather be closer to their parents. he wasn't quite sure why you would want to do something so simple if this was a request from your "past self".
"i'll take that as a yes." he chuckled, he had left quickly to change into some more comfortable clothing before laying right next to you. "i hope you're not too awake though after all your crying, little dragon. you've been rather energetic since you've entered this world in your current form. you need rest though. the world will be here still for you to explore." zhongli kept you close to his chest, you snuggling right into his warmth.

[gender neutral]
warnings: none [read: childe slander from a child /j]
the child is now 1 year old :)
Tumblr media
"pfft-"
"h-hey! that wasn't nice." childe looked at you as you had your tongue stuck out a bit and cheeks puffed. "you don't do that to others." you blew a raspberry again at his face as your scales flared up with your cheeks.
how did this situation come to be?
well, it all started with hu tao…
Tumblr media
hu tao needed more hands on deck due to the death of rex lapis and that meant zhongli was needed. however, he couldn't bring you to work (even if hu tao was glad to have you around). so with that, zhongli decided to assign childe as your babysitter.
"please be careful with them. they tend to be rather needy sometimes." zhongli told the ginger. the young male waved off zhongli's worries as he told him that he was certainly experienced in taking care of children. "they might be much more different from a normal child though.." zhongli warned.
"don't worry mr. zhongli! i'll be sure to take care of them well!" childe reassured the man. childe couldn't blame him for being so worried, this was the first time zhongli was leaving you with someone you certainly weren't fond of and this would be the first time you would not be with zhongli. you didn’t like this already. your body squirming as much as it could in the arms of the strong harbinger while he waves goodbye to the older male. “see you later mr. zhongli!” he said cheerily as he continued to hold you like a cat, hands under the arms and letting you hang and squirm.
and just like that… the fight between an adeptus child and a fatui harbinger has come.
“you know you’re really ruining my chances of being with zhongli right?” he poked at your cheek, smirking at the annoyed look on your face as you tried to reach your arms out to stop him. “now i understand that you’re a kid and all and you need the attention of your dad, but i want his attention too, little dragon.” was childe really talking to you as if you understood him? yes. did you understand him? unfortunately, yes. “but the only way to do that…”
you can feel his cold arms starting to cradle you properly. “...is to please you. so i suggest that you make this easier for me and you and just let me keep you happy!” while his motives aren’t the most cruel, you certainly didn’t want this ginger with your father. the least your father could do is pick someone better in your opinion. “and i’m not that bad of a guy! i’m a family guy too! i think you’re really adorable and mr. zhongli gave all those good genes to you!” he cooed. your cheek is squished against his chest as you glare up at him the best you could. squirming again, a ‘buh!’ sound leaves your lips as childe coos at you.
“oh you’re so cute!” that was a yell of defiance, you fiend. you think, looking at him. “come on! i’ll be sure to make you like me by the end of zhongli’s shift! and i heard he’s gonna be home late! so we got plenty of time!” you sort of muster a sound that was similar to a whine as the young male hugs you. "we're gonna be good friends, little dragon!"
you struggled in his arms, wondering how to possibly get out of this situation. maybe i can make him miserable during this! wait… what if papa gets mad at me? you huffed at the thought of zhongli scolding you. while he was really gentle with you, there was a small chance that he would scold you as he knew you weren't in the mindset of a baby.
"come on little dragon! you must be feeling hungry soon right?" the scales on your cheeks perked up at the mention of food as your tummy grumbles. "that cute little belly needs some food, huh?" you really want to wipe that stupid grin on his face but alas he was your only source of being able to remotely do anything. he patted your tummy as he spoke, "i'm sure mr. zhongli has some wonderful food for you!" he laughed.
i will not succumb to your stupid affections. you thought as you watch him grab the food you normally eat and grabbing a bib to keep you clean. "so this is what mr. zhongli has been using my money for. spoiling you!" he booped your nose, your face scrunching adorably as he did. "you're just like my siblings when they were younger!" he comments, wrapping the bib on you.
and so here you both were, one trying to get the other to eat and the other refusing the soft food.
"pfft!"
"h-hey! that's not nice!" childe looked at you as you had your tongue stuck out a bit and cheeks puffed. "you don't do that to others." you blew a raspberry again at his face as your scales flared up with your cheeks. "you gotta eat, little dragon!" he pouted childishly. if some people didn't know any better, childe was more of a baby than you were.
so here you both were, in a situation you both didn't wanna be in but had not much of a choice in the matter. well… maybe childe had a choice, you did not.
"i'll tell ya what, if you finish eating, we can go visit mr. zhongli, sound like a deal?" at the mention of your dad, you start to open your mouth to be fed. "that's the spirit, little dragon!" he smiled brightly, feeding you. you didn't want to eat such mushy food but unfortunately you were only a mere baby. you almost wanted to spit it out if not for the look on childe's face that is very much determined to make you finish eating. "no spitting out. i don't think mr. zhongli would like to see you be all cranky because you didn't eat."
mr. zhongli would kill me if i made you go hungry.. childe thought, avoiding the thought of the ever so calm man being angry for once.
"buh!" you could only yell out, smacking your hands against the table. your scales puffed out with your cheeks as your tail is swaying out of anger. "bah!"
"just a little bit more okay? then we can go visit, alright?" you huffed as you glare at the small spoonful of food before opening your mouth. "that's a good dragon!" he smiled, patting your head. you attempted to bite his hand but failed in doing so, making the male laugh. "no biting! not like you can really bite that hard right?" he hovered his hand above your head as if to tease you.
"bah! bah!" you struggled to speak, you just wanted your dad.
"hm? baba? do you want your baba?" you had heard some of liyue's common language enough back then, thank god you remembered it for now. you nodded, starting to get teary as you were starting to miss him more. he was only gone for a few hours but it felt like forever especially in your form.
"baba!" you whined as you let childe pick you up, holding you in his arms and patting your back.
"aiya, it's okay little dragon, we're gonna see him okay?" he tried to calm you down.
"baba!" you cried. childe was quick to go find the ex-archon before things could get too dicey for him (even if he was experienced with dealing with kids).
Tumblr media
zhongli was a bit more relaxed now, his workload draining down to a mere few small packets of papers that he could manage.
that relaxation was quick to end as he had heard the cry of his child and childe hushing the baby. before zhongli could even stand up to get to you, childe had come barging in. "i'm sorry if i disturbed you or anything mr. zhongli! y/n really started to miss you." good thing childe had explained the situation or else this would not end well. "also y/n has something to say. come on little dragon."
cradled in childe's arms, you reached out for zhongli, "baba!" your teary eyes and squished cheeks were more than enough for him to hold you in his arms. "baba!" your hands sort of pawed at his clothes, struggling to grasp at them.
zhongli is close to speechless, hearing your tiny voice call for him. but soon a gentle smile is curved on his lips and he's resting his forehead against yours, "baba is here. don't worry."

word count; 1.3k
masterlist | < previous | next >
[gender neutral]
warnings: none [read: childe slander from a child /j]
a/n; this is like canon divergence but not at the same time??? idfk im just going with the flow. this is sort of series of events that happen in reader's life. it's not really one by one chapter of everyday life-
and ig somehow, childe x zhongli may just be canon to this series. pov, childe falls for a dilf. but like it's slow bc zhongli cares too much about you lmao
also hey, lmao. im back after idk how long sjhddhg
Tumblr media
you smacked your hands together as zhongli took you around liyue. your tail swinging slowly and hitting against his arm as he had arrived at liuli pavilion. "you seem excited. i hope you won't be too disappointed in today's endeavors. we'll be meeting someone new. well, you will." you blinked at his words, wondering what he could be talking about. he entered the pavilion, placing you down in a nearby seat by his own. "i have told you about them, although, there's someone else i have not told you about." it's not like they'll remember once they get older anyways if i remember correctly.. zhongli had thought. however you were a kid in this state, a child who could suck up information like a sponge, so who knew what would happen.
"hey mr. zhongli!" a cheery voice rang in the room, you try to find the source of the sound and find a ginger haired male. "oh? who's the adorable little one here?" the ginger comes closer to you and zhongli, your old habits kick in and you hiss at him. while it wasn't exactly something you did as a spirit, it was sort of similar to what you would do if someone was disturbing the peace in mingyun village.
"y/n, that's not very nice. my apologies for my child. they might be a little grumpy, i suppose. i don't think they were ready to meet someone new." the tiny scales on your cheeks flared up slightly, expressing your unexplained anger toward the ginger. "they're much calmer around others than this..." zhongli frowned slightly as the other male smiled, seemingly unfazed. i mean you were a small baby, how much damage could you really do to him?
"don't worry about it! i'm sure they'll warm up to me soon enough!" the bright male went over to you and patted your head, in response you rejected it with a head bonk to zhongli's chest, whining loudly.
Tumblr media
"i think they might need more time around you. zhongli wonders what childe has done in his past life to receive such defiance from you. once you had met traveler and paimon, you were mostly neutral with them. but childe... you just didn't like him.
"i really wonder why your child doesn't like me, zhongli..." childe smiled sheepishly, he was usually really good with kids. childe moved his hand towards your head. you moved your head down, (well as much as you could for your size) avoiding his hand.
you wriggled in your seat, trying to show that you didn't want to be here anymore. "we are going to go out for some fresh air. that might be best for them. come on sweetie." your words were garbled as you raised your arms towards zhongli. he picked you up as you stared at childe for a moment. your judging e/c eyes that sparkled with a little bit of gold as childe stares back at you.
"i hope to see you more, little one!" childe gave you a small wave as you huffed, resting your head abruptly against zhongli's shoulder. childe merely laughed at your actions before zhongli walks out of the pavilion.
“you need to be nicer to childe, y/n.” zhongli scolded as you huffed again, he could feel your scales rub against his clothes while you shook your head against him. “you’ll be seeing him more often.” he’s acting like childe is my step dad or something. you thought, remembering kids from mingyun village complaining about step parents with their biological parents. i don’t want him to be my dad… you squirmed at the thought of the ginger haired male coddling you over and over. he seemed overwhelming enough to deal with. he’s so weird… you thought again as zhongli was still lecturing you (at least that what you assumed he was doing), his voice trying to calm you and your squirming while he walks to find the traveler.
he had some business to do with them but of course, there weren’t many people zhongli was able to leave you alone with. you had too many people to meet ever since you had come into this world, zhongli thought it was better to slowly ease you into a normal lifestyle before meeting those that would affect your lifestyle.
“ah, i forgot to ask, is this child yours, mr. zhongli?” paimon, the floating fairy (at that’s what you thought she was), asked him as he met up with paimon and aether.
“you could say that. they’re certainly not anyone else’s child.” paimon floats over to look at your smushed face while it rested against zhongli’s shoulder. she had noticed the little scales on your cheeks and the sharp e/c eyes staring back at her.
“why do they have scales on their face?” your scales puffed up at the sudden question.
“don’t point out stuff like that, paimon!” aether scolded her. he had noticed the small swinging tail that was hitting zhongli’s arm as if it was irritated.
“ah, they are merely a hybrid.” zhongli simply said, your scales deflating and going flat on your face as paimon floated back towards aether. “don’t worry too much about them. they’re relatively calm around others… though childe seems to be a touchy subject for them.” at the mere mention of the name, the three hear a small huff from you.
“i don’t blame them…” paimon muttered.
“shall we start to look for items for the funeral?” zhongli asked, moving the subject of you away as you started to feel yourself getting bored and tired already. from what you remember from the conversation earlier at the pavilion, rex lapis had died. you knew better of course.
Tumblr media
“you have been quite the difficult one today, my little dragon.” zhongli told you as he fed you. you gladly eat the food, zhongli sighing while you ate. “i still have a lot to learn about taking care of you, i suppose.”
despite being clung onto the ex-archon all day, you still managed to cause some troubles for him. whether it be whining for food or squirming in his arms after seeing a shiny toy you wanted, he could never deny you. you were only new to this world, you were curious like the child you were. he smiled fondly at you, rubbing his finger against your cheek, “and yet you still manage to make me happy even if you were the cause of my frustrations." he chuckled softly, the mellow of his voice keeping you calm as you continued to eat.
"hello again, mr. zhongli!" you heard a familiar voice and immediately turned to face zhongli's chest. your father hasn't noticed your frustration yet as he was busy greeting childe.
"hello childe." he smiled slightly as childe returned with a much larger smile.
"and hi to you little dragon!" childe tried to greet you but he was only met with a back facing him. "well, they seem rather tired." he quickly looked back at zhongli as you squirmed in the ex-archon's lap, zhongli cooing at you softly to calm you down.
"they recently ate. they must be full." zhongli assumed, moving you to rest your head on his shoulder. he started to pat your back as your scales puffed up in frustration along with your cheeks. you didn't wanna see or hear childe again but here you were. childe moved around to face you as you glared at him with as much malice as a baby could have.
"i'm sure you'll like me eventually, little one!" childe smiled. your tail moved rapidly, signifying your unexplained anger with the ginger haired male. he rubbed a finger against your cheek, you leaned a bit to try and bite it but he moved it away. "well, comrade, you can't be mean to me. me and your father will be seeing each other much more often." you grumbled at his words before whining loudly.
"are you okay, y/n?" zhongli asked. "i think you probably said something that they didn't like."
"i'm sure they're just grumpy, mr. zhongli! babies need their naps you know!" childe waved off.
and somehow with just a few interactions, you and childe had started a rivalry for zhongli's attention.

aaitl hcs - zhongli
Tumblr media
summary; i ramble about hcs i thought of while writing "another adeptus in the line".
a/n; will i make a series out of this? idk. i would love to don't get it twisted, i strongly enjoy writing found family and child reader bc i lack family affection. however, i just think it would be hard for me to write conflict to keep it interesting.
i thought about making it an open tag for those who like this and wants to write about it. making it like a cute wholesome community thing!
but also i thought just not making the series tbh. idk if my braincell can handle making another series and keep up with my other series.
here's a poll,,, so feel free to help my indecisive ass decide
Tumblr media
so,,, you're a dragon hybrid!! you took on a form similar to zhongli's dragon form
you have small horns growing in from the top of your head, once they grow out, they become a really brown to pretty amber orange ombre
you also have a tail! it's sort of wide at the base and then thinner at the end
it looks like an axlotl tail!! it matches the color of your hair and it also has a pretty orange ombre at the end
anyways, the story of how you became a child to zhongli
you were merely just a protector of mingyun village, meant to protect those who mined late into the night to bring riches to their family
you had no physical form but rather a spiritual one. similar to venti and his past form of an wind spirit, you took the form of dust spirit. but you didn't have any sight.
it's not like you needed sight, you could feel and hear the world around you
but it was bitter. you heard everyone in the village be happy but then, the mining village was empty
no one lived in it anymore
you were tied to the village, unable to explore the world.
while you lived as long as some other gods or immortals (though you could be considered very much younger than those gods), you knew nothing of the world you stayed in and longed for knowledge.
you wanted to see the world.
zhongli had remembered your presence in mingyun village even after all these years. he visited you.
you had told him of your struggles and your longing to really see and experience everything
"i can help you with that, little one."
he offered a contract. you would live alongside him as a hybrid, but you would have to protect liyue as you become of age to do so
you were more than happy to accept, one small problem, you didnt know what he meant by living alongside him as a hybrid
and before you knew it, you were a small dragon hybrid, not even close to 1/4 of zhongli's height and with a sudden urge to chew on something.
at first your mind was much more mature than it was in the present, but you succumbed to the child urges within you and now here you are as small child with bonking urges
yeah, when your mind was much more mature, he explained how he had transferred your age into much more simplified human years
turns out you were only 300 in spirit years, soon changing to 3 years old once the deal was made
your love language is bonks, i do not take any criticism
you just bonk your forehead against whatever you want
it gets zhongli very concerned when you just keep bonking your head against his chest sometimes
like do you want his attention? do you have a headache? he never knows
when you grow up, you become as tall as zhongli, maybe a little bit taller and it makes xiao so mad bc you tease him for it
when you first you met azhdaha and you both have this weird staring contest before you shout "big puppy!" both him and zhongli are very much confused until you start trying to climb him
please give the old man a break, he lost his gnosis, that's enough for him 😔
you get zoomies like a cat or dog and you just run around the house, trying to sound like a scary dragon yelling "roar!!" in like tiny font bc you lack the ability to be loud
not only bc you're a child, but bc you never learned how to talk as a spirit, you're really bad at speaking or articulating your words
it's really cute to zhongli when you try to say some words
hutao fucking LOVES YOU SO MUCH
she always tries to make it bring your kid to work day, just to make zhongli bring you over but he doesn't do it often
he dreads having you learn the concept of death
you never knew much about it when you were a spirit, but even if you did know, your mind was regressed into that of a child, so you barely remember your memories as a spirit.
xiao is always ready to square up with you. pls he does not care if you're a child
he calls you brat, demon, troublemaker all affectionately
you always love playing with his necklace but you have really sharp teeth once you get past the terrible twos phase, and xiao keeps a close eye on you in hopes to have you not break any beads or the blunt arrowhead on the necklace
zhongli has bite marks on his clothes bc of you
he does have some bites on his ankles too bc of you
people think he has a dog, no it's just you
ganyu can never say no to you
you want to play with her? she has the toys ready. you want her to read a bedtime story? which one, she'll even make one up if you want.
ganyu best sister. send tweet.
you have the biggest fear of the dark. child mind you doesn't understand why, but zhongli understands. you can remember the feeling of loneliness and emptiness of not having eyes to see. but of course human you has not connected those dots
you literally speed run to zhongli the moment you get scared
he's always glad to help you during those times, letting you sleep on his bed with him, telling you a story, humming a lullaby even.
you and qiqi are best friends
when you meet childe, you are like an abrasive cat to him
you literally hiss at him
he is completely scared of you
"they don't bite."
"YES THEY DO-"
childe was right on that.
anyways, eventually you bond with childe. he starts to see you as his own kin often buying you some presents whenever he can
overall there's a lot sweet hcs i could talk about all day if i wanted to, but alas, this is all i could think of
