The sodium hydroxide solution was then poured into a 250-ml beaker containing 30.70 g (0.3570 mol) methacrylic acid (exothermic reaction) with constant stirring. The mixture was allowed to cool, 50 ml of acetone were added, and the precipitate vacuum filtered. The recovered carboxylate salt was first allowed to air dry under a hood, and then dried in an oven at 55°-60° C. for 12-15 hours to afford 30.43 g (92.2percent yield) of sodium methacrylate.92.2%With sodium hydroxide Experimental Procedure Preparation of sodium methacrylate: After 5 kg (37.5 mol) of a 30percent aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide was cooled below 60° C., 3.23 kg (37.5 mol) of methacrylic acid was added drop by drop while stirring. The aqueous solution of sodium methacrylate obtained by the neutralization reaction was spray-dried with 300° C. hot air to yield 4.04 kg of a dry powder of sodium methacrylate. The temperature of the reaction mixture was kept below 50° C. throughout the methacrylic acid addition. This preparation resulted in a clear, colorless solution containing 44.1percent by weight sodium methacrylate. To a 500 ml 4-neck round bottom flask equipped with a reflux condenser, addition funnel, thermocouple and magnetic stirrer was charged 38.67 grams (0.45 moles) of methacrylic acid and 52.12 grams of methanol. To the addition funnel was charged 95.89 grams of a 25percent solution of sodium methoxide in methanol (23.97 grams of contained sodium methoxide, 0.44 moles, 98.6percent of theoretical). The sodium methoxide solution was slowly added to the methacrylic acid over a 1.3 hour period with vigorous stirring. Near the end of the addition the amount of formed solids made stirring difficult. After all of the sodium methoxide solution was charged, the addition funnel was rinsed with 17.53 grams of methanol. To the resulting thick slurry was added 3.21 grams of a 34percent aqueous solution of hexaethylguanidinium chloride solution (1.09 grams of contained hexaethylguanidinium chloride, 4.1 mmoles). This material was rinsed into the reaction flask with 7.58 grams of methanol. The methanol was removed by mildly heating the reaction slurry under vacuum. The remaining paste was further dried by heating in a vacuum oven at 90° C. and 125 mmHg overnight. The resulting dry solids were broken up with a spatula and the reaction flask fitted with a reflux condenser, thermocouple and mechanical stirrer. To the solids were added 0.192 grams (0.45 mmoles) of 4,4'-methylenebis(2,6-di-t-butylphenol), 0.081 grams (0.36mmoles) of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) and 131.58 grams (0.66 moles) of chloropropyltrimethoxysilane. The mixture was then heated to 110° C. for 3 hours. During this time the color of the reaction mixture changes from purple to yellow. Analysis of the final product by gas chromatograpy indicated that the crude reaction mixture contained 72.3percent of the desired gamma-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane.

Lab Results
Got my results back from the blood test and my cholesterol levels are always a fucking mystery. Always. Since I was like 7 years old.
I have relatively high cholesterol levels -- usually within normal range, but just.. high. On the  upper limit. But you can’t interpret cholesterol itself -- you need HDL (good) and LDL (bad). All of my levels are relatively high. So like... my total cholesterol is high and so is my LDL (bad) cholesterol, but also my HDL is extremely high too.

but like every time I look at my cholesterol numbers, I’m like whoa isn’t that high. But you look at my good cholesterol and it’s also on the upper upper limit. I JUST DON’T KNOW.
Okay wait scratch that. I recalculated. I’m okay.
Raw numbers:
Total Cholesterol: 1.39 g/L (3.6 mmol/L)
Triglycerides: 0.92 g/L (1.05 mmol/L)
HDL:  0.589 g/L (1.526 mmol/L)
LDL: 0.62 g/L (1.61 mmol/L)
On the other hand, I’m still not used to commas being used instead of decimals in France. It’s okay when it’s like 72,7 because I can read that easily. But when it’s 1,460 (there are three decimal places after the fucking comma) I read that as one thousand four hundred sixty. Not one point four six. So I read that I’m at like 1460 mUI/L for TSH (thyroid hormone) and normal is 0.27-4.2 and I’m like holy crap? lol But eventually I calm down cuz nothing to worry about.
My prolactin level is 18.2 ng/mL which is okay. On the high end for men (4.04-15.2) but okay for women (4.79-23.3). My LH (luteinizing hormone maybe?? I’m guessing) is 8.3 UI/L which is again on the high end for men (1.7-8.6) but okay for women. 
Glycemie (blood glucose level maybe??) is 0.88 g/L (4.89 mmol/L) -- normal is 0.74-1.09 (4.11-6.06) so that’s fine.
The thing about my blood is I always tend to have higher hemoglobin count. Even as a female giving blood, I’d have high hemoglobin. So Imagine now that I cannot give blood. Hah it’s still on the high end of female (16.6 g/dL) -- I was like this before I started giving blood. So fairly normal, but not for women (11.5-16). My hemocrit levels are also elevated but they were like this last year too. It just means that I have too many babbie red blood cells. That happens because I tend to donate a lot of blood, so new ones are being generated (my average red blood cell is puffier and fatter than normal people’s bc they are babie). 47.7% (norm is 37-47%). 
Everything else is normal so we good.

Circulating #miRNAs, isomiRs and small #RNA clusters in human plasma and breast milk

Gonzalez, Alfredo Mayor Circulating small #RNAs, including #miRNAs but also isomiRs and other #RNA species, have the potential to be used as non-invasive biomarkers for communicable and non-communicable diseases. This study aims to characterize and compare small #RNA profiles in human biofluids. For this purpose, #RNA was extracted from plasma and breast milk samples from 15 healthy postpartum mothers. Small #RNA libraries were prepared with the NEBNext® small #RNA library preparation kit and sequenced in an Illumina HiSeq2000 platform. #miRNAs, isomiRs and clusters of small #RNAs were annotated using seqBuster/seqCluster framework in 5 plasma and 10 milk samples that passed the initial quality control. The #RNA yield was 81 ng/mL [standard deviation (SD): 41] and 3985 ng/mL (SD: 3767) for plasma and breast milk, respectively. Mean number of good quality reads was 4.04 million (M) (40.01% of the reads) in plasma and 12.5M (89.6%) in breast milk. One thousand one hundred eighty two #miRNAs, 12,084 isomiRs and 1,053 small #RNA clusters that included piwi-interfering #RNAs (pi#RNAs), t#RNAs, small nucleolar #RNAs (sno#RNA) and small nuclear #RNAs (sn#RNAs) were detected. Samples grouped by biofluid, with 308 #miRNAs, 1,790 isomiRs and 778 small #RNA clusters differentially detected. In summary, plasma and milk showed a different small #RNA profile. In both, #miRNAs, pi#RNAs, t#RNAs, sn#RNAs, and sno#RNAs were identified, confirming the presence of non-#miRNA species in plasma, and describing them for the first time in milk. http://bit.ly/2FhocaC #PLoS
