So there was an ask lu wild post a long time ago where Wild listed all the foods they made that the others did like... but they do have actual favorites
Twilight: Very proud of his own sweet potato pie.
Time: Likes whatever pie Malon makes
Warriors: Maybe something like… bittersweet, chocolate almonds

so magnus archives s4 takes place between feb and october 2018 and jon and basira go to ny-ålesund in june 2018 so right after ramadan so most of the preparation to go there would’ve been done during ramadan so basira would be fasting and she’d spend evenings in the archives because what’s the point of going home, right, if you’re just going to be attacked by that which you’ve only just started to name and worse and solitude becomes more sinister by the day, except there’s nobody at the archives either, because melanie can’t trust them and martin’s with peter and daisy’s too broken to round up to a person, which critically means there’s no food at the archives. at first, she tides herself over by breaking her fast with tea and biscuits until her stomach really starts to churn and the statements begin to smell like a home-cooked meal, at which point she forces herself to go back to her cold, empty flat and colder, emptier kitchen to heat up a vegetarian sainsbury’s microwave dinner or leftover kebab. and rinse and repeat.
except there’s not ‘nobody’ in the archives, there’s jon. and jon Knows. and jon does his best, not to Know what type of dates basira likes best and whether rooh afza was as big a deal in a bangladeshi home as it would be in a malayali one when he’s standing in line at the asian market, small basket of groceries that weren’t meant for him, staring at his feet and locked in his own, unbreakable fast, because he and basira had been friends. and he leaves the dates, the rooh afza, a small box of mithai and some random snacks he remembers liking, once, in the staff room, nonchalantly conspicuous, and when basira stumbles into the staff room a few minutes before nine pm, all she can do for a moment is stare at the dates and the snacks and she Knows who put them there, who retreated to his office to stave his own hunger except nobody can help him satisfy it, nobody can put a date in one scarred, lonely hand and a cup of warm tea in the other (or, at least, nobody particularly wants to do so). and all she can do is stare, break her fast and stare, never letting her eyes drift to where she knows he’s locked himself away, because she and jon had been friends, once.

Rangoli Lessons 🪔
——————
A Hobie oneshot
Pairing: Hobie Brown (Spider-Punk) x Indian!Reader
Word count: 990
Warnings: Reader is implied to be female bc of the mention of a dupatta(?), use of pet names (luv, my love) me turning this into a cultural infodump 😅
——————
“Whatcha doin’ there, luv?”
You jumped in surprise at the interruption, almost knocking over the plates full of rangoli powder next to you.
“Hobie, you could’ve given me a warning,” You complained, rising to your feet and dusting off the powder that you had spilled on your clothes. “Honestly, you just pop out of nowhere here into Mumbattan expect me not to get a mini heart attack.”
Hobie just laughed, grabbing your waist and pulling you into a hug and carefully rearranging your dupatta to dip evenly along your neck and rest on your shoulders. “C’mon, loosen up a little. Happy Diwali, by the way. Diwali? Am I saying tha’ right?”
“Well, not quite,” You giggled at his pronunciation of the name of the festival, sounding foreign and strange in his accented voice. “But thank you for remembering. Happy Diwali to you too.”
He gave you a small pout. “Stop laughin’, ‘m tryin’ my best.”
You tapped his nose with your pinky finger, giving him a small smile. “I’m sure you are. Well done for that. Hats off to you. Do you want mithai?”
His confused glance had you chuckling again as you gently extricated yourself from his grasp. “Mithai, mera pyaar. Sweets. Here, try some, you’ll love it.”
You grabbed a rather large box of sweets that you had kept on a plate next to you, handing it to Hobie. Your neighbours, a sweet old couple with a tiny but temperamental cat named Kaccha Aam had given it to you.
“What’s this?” Hobie asked, holding up a silvery diamond-shaped sweet and staring at it curiously.
“That’s kaju katli.”
“Well, I’ve learnt enough to know tha’ it’s be’er not questionin’ the name, much less tryin’ to pronounce it,” Hobie shot you a playful glare as he popped the sweet into his mouth. His eyes widened as he tasted it, eliciting another giggle from you at his reaction. “Bloody ‘ell, thas’ good.”
“Right? It’s one of my favourites.” You crouched down to finish your rangoli, pulling the plates of coloured powder closer to you. You skilfully took some blue powder between your index finger and thumb, drizzling it steadily inside the spaces of the pattern you had drawn in the dirt with other colours.
Hobie knelt next to you, sitting cross-legged in the dirt. “What’s tha’ now? No, wait, lemme guess. It’s, uh… something with an ‘i’. There’s kaju katli and mithai, so it’s…”
He trailed off and you looked up from your work to give him an amused smile. “My god, Hobie, your pronunciations are horrible.”
You let out a giggle and leaned over to kiss his cheek as he let out a dramatic wounded gasp. “Oh, no, my heart can’t take this kind o’ betrayal! My love, how could you be so cruel?”
“It’s called a rangoli, drama queen. Now shush and let me finish this.” You crouched to drop the last bits of powder into place, completing your rangoli and standing up. “Now for the diyas.”
You got out the earthen lamps and placed the cotton wicks into them, pouring oil over it to fuel the fire. Being careful not to smudge any of the painstakingly-arranged powder of the rangoli, you stepped over it and placed the lit diyas around, lining a path to your front door.
“What’s tha’ on your forehead? The red dot thing.”
You turned to face Hobie fully, tilting your head slightly. “Oh, that’s a tilak. Or a teeka. They’re both the same thing. We just finished the pooja, the teeka is just something we wear after it to signify purity and respect to the Gods.”
You angled your gaze downward to your rangoli again, your eyes narrowing as you examined it critically. “It looks empty, doesn’t it?”
Hobie came over to stand next to you, draping a hand across your shoulders. “Well… a li’l bit? S’not empty as much as it is… minimalistic. You could add somethin’ around the corners, maybe?”
You hummed in approval as you tilted your head to calculate how much space you could use up. “Oh, yeah. That’s actually a really good idea. Hey, you wanna try?”
Hobie looked at you in surprise, letting out a small laugh. “I’d prob’ly mess it up, luv. Easier for you to do it how you wan’ it.”
“Noooo, it’ll be fun. Besides, anything you do looks amazing to me.”
Hobie considered it for a second before giving a shrug and crouching down next to the rangoli powder. You stood a few inches behind him, watching him with a soft smile on your face. His tongue slipped between his lips, poking out slightly as he tried to copy the drizzling motion you had done with the powder, his eyes narrowing in intense concentration.
“Luv, y’know I can feel you tryin’ to do tha’. I’m Spider-Man, remember?”
You pouted slightly, sitting back with your legs folded beneath you after being caught in the act of trying to sneak up behind him. “Aw, you’re no fun. Can’t even scare you.”
“That’s… kinda the point o’ spider-senses.” He scooted over so you could come and kneel next to him. “Could you show me how you did tha’ sprinkle thing? ‘ve tried but nothing’s workin’. Keeps spillin’.”
“Oh, sure. Here.” You leaned over to take a pinch of the powder between your fingers. “Here, the trick is to keep the powder in between your thumb and the space of your second knuckle on your index finger. That way the excess doesn’t escape but you also have the freedom to decide where the trail forms. See?”
You turned to face him. “Hobie?”
He was staring at you in wonder, his eyes so soft and loving that you couldn’t help but giggle, getting more flustered by the minute. “Hellooooo, Earth to Hobie. You didn’t hear a word of what I just said, did you?”
“Can’t help it. You’re too pretty”
You rolled your eyes affectionately. “Focus, mera pyaar.”

Mera pyaar means my love :)
Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights, with variations celebrated in other Indian religions. It symbolises the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance".

A teeka/tilak/tilaka is a mark (generally a red dot in this context) worn on the forehead, usually after a pooja. The teeka may be worn daily for decorative purposes, as a symbol for sectarian affiliation, for rites of passage or for special spiritual and religious occasions, depending on regional customs. It is also used as an expression of honour or to welcome someone upon arrival.
Mithai (sweets) are the confectionery and desserts of the Indian subcontinent.
Kaju katli, also known as kaju barfi, is an Indian dessert, originating in the Deccan, and is popularly consumed throughout north India. Kaju means cashew; barfi is often made by thickening milk with sugar and other ingredients.
A dupatta is a length of material worn arranged in two folds over the chest and thrown back around the shoulders, typically with a salwar kameez, worn by women from South Asia.
A diya is an earthen lamp, with the fire usually fueled by a wick dipped in oil coiled in the centre.

@tea-rcses ft. Mary - november 15th
Benny sat down next to Mary on the hood of his car, putting the box with sweets between them. He was in a mood, but that didn't mean he didn't want Mary around... or well, he wanted to be around Mary. Because he was having trouble breathing, and if he focussed on her, he didn't have to give a moment to his thoughts.
"They're Mithai, Indian candy for Diwali. This is what happens when I tell people I'm Gujarati." He opened the box and held it out towards them. In the meantime he got a joint out, his bad hand slightly shaking.
He felt out of it. Not just because he'd figured out that his stash of cocaine had been laced with rat poison, which he'd unintentionally sold to Annaki. Revealing that someone had it out for him, or they had it out for Annaki and weren't worried about throwing him in front of the train as well.
But because of Matevos fucking Hakobyan. Benny wasn't quick to admit that he was once a part of the Bastards, that he'd run with the likes of them and worked at their side. He would never admit that he considered some of them as friends, because it was much easier to hate them now. Of all of them, however, the last one he expected to be murdered was Maty. The dog-loving idiot who washed with dog shampoo and doubled as a veterinarian. The one he'd had plenty of discussions with regarding pets, even though Benny had zero interest in getting one himself.
The one he'd considered the most unpredictable, except when he hurt someone who Maty loved, then he could be sure he would be crawling home. He had on several occasions.
He hated the Bastards, he loathed them because he felt like they'd never cared one bit about him. But how the fuck could he be a shit to them now that Matevos was gone?
And he was shit with loss and grief, the only person he'd ever lost was his grandmother. He didn't know how to handle himself. He wasn't even capable of admitting that maybe he was sad too.
"You like sweets, yes?" He gritted his teeth as he put the box down and lit his joint.

2.Halwai: A confectioner
3. Mithai: Sweets
4. Bukhad: A person who is greedy for food
It was raining outside. It had been raining since the morning and it hadn't stopped, not even for a second. Raindrops were splattering onto the glass windows of Yn's apartment building.
The rain was coming down at a steady pace so it sounded like someone was pounding on the glass and shouting "Let me in!" repeatedly. Yn sighed as she put down her pen. She knew who it was even before she opened her door and stood there was her lovie ."You're going to catch a cold Harry," she said. "Hey Baby," he said softly when Yn opened the door for him.
He smiled when he caught sight of her. Harry looked like hell. He was drenched from head to toe.  His hair had been matted down with rainwater. His nose and cheeks were flushed red. Yn wrapped her arms around him and kissed him tenderly."How about you take a nice hot shower and I'll make you my special chai ?" She suggested.
Harry nodded but didn't move from where he stood. "As long as you join me in the  shower." Yn giggled. "No Harry. We both know I'm just a distraction when you shower."Harry shrugged his shoulders helplessly. Yn watched as Harry removed his shoes and socks. Yn walked over to the door and unlocked it. She stepped out of the way while Harry walked inside and closed the door behind him. Yn walked into the living room, picking up their abandoned cups and plates as she went. "Do you want some food too Harry?" She asked. "I bought Jalebi's from the local Indian dessert shop,". "I would love some," he yelled from the bathroom. "M'kay I'll be right back."
Yn made her way into the kitchen to make the chai. First, she boiled the milk. Then she added the tea leaves to the boiled milk followed by ginger honey and cardamom. While she was busy straining the tea Harry came back from the shower. He was wearing nothing but boxer briefs. Yn bit her lip slightly trying to control herself. She felt her heart racing, not wanting to look away. "Mhm smells amazing  Yn," he said. "Harry placed his hand gently against her cheek and kissed her sweetly. She poured the chai into two cups and placed them on the kitchen island. Harry sat at one end of the counter while Yn took the other side and sat across from him. Yn reached under the table and held one of Harry's hands in hers. Harry smiled. They sipped their drinks slowly savouring every sip until they'd emptied their cups. "There's nothing like the authentic Indian chai innit darling?  It's a real treat," Yn said smacking his lips together. "Ugh Starbucks drink doesn't even come close to this masterpiece," he commented. "How dare you compare this wonderful delicacy to that overpriced highly saccharine drink, " Harry snickered at her comments.
" Oh I forgot about the Jalebis gimme a mo bubs," Yn exclaimed reaching for the top cabinet she pulled out the Jalebis and started plating them. "That looks delicious babe and I can't wait to try all of them,". Harry replied  "Here you go," Yn said sliding the plate. He grabbed one of the Jalebi "Cheers Yn," he tapped his jalebi with hers and then took a bite. He moaned loudly as he chewed. "These are the best damn things in existence. Oh my God I'm gonna cry "he declared. Yn giggled at his antics "I know right." Ever since they started dating Yn shared her culture with him whether it was cooking him her favourite desi dishes or making him watch her favourite movies growing up or shitting about Europeans colonizing South Asia and looting their money and other valuable items even if Harry was British ( he didn't mind tho because he was bitching along with her). He was so eager to learn all about her country and her culture.
"The jalebis here in America don't taste as great as the ones from India though, " Yn said thoughtfully as she nibbled on a piece of jalebis. "Really? "Harry quipped "Maybe you should come to visit India and eat them then," said Yn. "I remember visiting the Halwai during Diwali and ogling at all the mithai. The jalebis and the laddoo were finger-licking good." She said wistfully as she recalled memories. " Ooh, I can picture baby Yn dragging her parents to the halwai to gawk at the sweets". Harry teased, causing Yn to blush.  "Oh shut up you big goof" she replied poking his arm. "I bet your parents would still lecture you for eating too many sweets," he continued teasing further. Yn rolled her eyes. "Stop," she said, blushing more as Harry laughed.  "But seriously Harry, I miss those days when we would go to the market and just doing all the random things", she lamented. "I know baby, I know." Harry said putting his arm around her waist "I just miss them so much Harry I don't have anyone in the states except you"." Yn leaned in to kiss Harry, "you are right " Harry's gaze softens ."I guess it won't hurt to try a little bit more jalebi" "Yeah babe", Harry said pulling her closer. " My jalebi baby," he whispered. " .They spend rest of the day listening to soft ghazals as they talked , drinking their tea and eating each other's food. No wonder Tesher made a freaking song about Jalebi because he knows some bukhad like Yn and harry exist.😋😋
