“Oh, Merlin, tell me, does THE THORNED ROSE get what she deserves?” She is in with THE DEATH EATERS & CLOSED to finding out.
— she walks through the world as ;
name → alexandra rosier pronouns → she/her identification → cis female year of birth → september 1957 - september 1958 face claim → anya chalotra blood status → pureblood sexual orientation → up to applicant occupation → head political stylist at witch weekly future information → n/a
— she is best described as ;
CALCULATING and RESERVED, she is the ash off abandoned cigarette stubs FORGOTTEN and TARNISHED yet the curl of SMOKE across the silver moon at twilight which brought itself to ruin. Deadly as a POISED VIPER threatened with INSANITY, they are the BITTER taste of RED WINE and the fallen petals of a white rose WILTED from darkness DECAYING SWEETNESS lingering in the air of its DEATH.
— her story starts with ;
tw: death, tw: gun
Born to Axel and Adele Rosier, Alexandra grew in the shadow of EVAN ROSIER [brother]. The first born, their parents idealized him as the heir to the Rosier name. Raising him so high that despite strenuous efforts, there was little that she could do to compete against their prince. Despite a regal sensibility, intellect matching if not outshining that of her brother, nothing compared; leaving an underlying bitterness to brew. The witch was left to grow in darkness as Evan consumed the light of their parents’ love. Andra was cared for, but not in the same regard. Despite the divide slowly pitting them against one another, they stayed close by each other’s side, knowing that above all family was everything. Insular compared to other Pure-Blooded families, their father insisted he’d rather spend his spare time away from Wizengamot among family than waste his breath on others. When they decided to grace high society, the family was adorned in French finery. Rich black velvets, beaded gown, silks befit a family that walked like they belonged in the stars. Encapsulating an idealistic image, they presented themselves how Rosiers always did. Powerful, resilient and as beautiful as the roses they were named after.
Adamant to keep their standing within both the English and French aristocracy, the Rosier’s choose to send one child to Hogwarts and another to Beauxbatons. Knowing the years spent at school would be imperative to their social standing, quickly Andra became the socialite of the school. Able to manipulate situations in her favor, she was just as calculating as she was beautiful. Following the family mantra ‘Si vous ne trouvez pas de chemin, faites-en un’: she was determined to forge her way no matter the costs. Forming an elite social network consisting of individuals from high standing families, the group were notorious for their social power, elusive gathers and selective mingling. Among them were: MIRA IYER [best friend] and OTTILLE DE MONTMORENCY [best friend]. There was no question, Andra was the queen, with Mira in particular following in her shadow. Few stood up to Andra, knowing that doing so was social suidice. An exception; CLAUDETTE TREMBLAY [rival]. Born from Andra’s found enjoyment in belittling JAQUELINE LEJEUNE [rival], the witches' feud became renowned around the school. Apart from Claude being a thorn in her side, Andra reigned over the school. But the reign of a queen was only more public when she fell to ruin.
Free from studies for the summer; she exchanged meaningless conversations with her mother as they traveled to their second home in Lyon. Only to be greeted with Aurors lining the gates to shield prying eyes from the scene. White roses stained red, her father’s body limp in the dirt and Evan clinging for dear life. Andra didn’t just lose her father that day, she lost her whole family. Evan crumbled with fury, despite Andra’s hope of sharing the burden of their grief. Wails of heartbreak echoed the hallowed halls of the Rosier mansion as their mother became inconsolable, troubled with grief that drove her to insanity. Rolls reversed with every member of her family falling, Andra became the thread holding the fabric of their existence together; simply because she had no choice. A renowned wizard in the community, the death of Axel was unfortunately public and high profile. Betrayed by the very people he’d served, The Ministry claimed the death was a mere ‘accident’ to not arouse panic. For their silence and discretion, they paid the Rosier family to keep quiet. But one look at the autopsy, it was clear that the fatal wound had been from a Muggle gun, despite the false allegations that declared otherwise.
Perpetuating the image of the Rosier name, Andra rose their name from ashes. Days spent calculating a perfectly perceived image, at nights she fell apart. Mascara stained her pillow and muffled her sobs as she was left to mourn alone. Though they despised the pity, the grief was eased with holding a confidant in NARCISSA BLACK [cousin]. However not all the Blacks were welcome in her eyes. BELLATRIX BLACK [cousin] was as conveying as she was deceitful. Digging talons into Evan, a bitter jealousy grew deep in Andra towards Bella. Hurt that Evan chose their cousin as a confidant over her, she was left to watch as her brother’s heart turned black. Twisted with hate and grief, his anger boiled like a disease. While he played the broken boy, she was left to pick up the pieces. Caring for their distraught mother, commenting for the newspapers, attending social gatherings; Andra single handedly kept the name of the Rosier’s from falling to ruin. Knowing it’s what her father would want, she played her part. Disguising her distress under rouge, with eyes like daggers her attitude turned cruel. Labeled cold hearted, she held her head high as she left childhood behind; becoming the head of the Rosier house.
One person that seemed to melt her icy exterior was LEONARDIS CORTAZAR [ex-fiance/potential love interest]. Few caught a glimpse of who she really was behind the perfect eyeliner; merely a girl trying to prove she was worthy of affection. Insular love, they reigned as the future king and queen of European society, with their status and engagement envied amongst the elite. Though with Andra’s growing integration into high society, insecurities for their relationship’s appearance grew. Molding herself into the idealistic image of a Pure-Blood, Andra learned to care more for her vanity and how people perceived her than the value of her own heart. With him being exiled from the Cortazar name, Andra’s duty to her family outweighed the deep love she held for him as he left into the night with her having little mind to follow, ashamed to love him despite being left with questions at his sudden dismissal. Hiding her darkening heart with beauty, under the instruction of CYGNUS BLACK [uncle] Alexandra moved back to Kensington, handing care of her mother to The Society for Distressed Witches. With Cygnus assuring they could ease her growing insanity and keep her from causing any more damage to the family reputation.
Keeping watch on her family’s exchanges, in an effort to save Evan from Bellatrix’s clutches Andra joined The Death Eaters so as to not lose both of the most important men in her life. While doing so had been an effort to protect her family, the longer she stays in their company the closer she can feel herself attaching to the same ideologies. With every passing day it is clear to her the justice it could finally bring to the memory of their father. Furthering her cause, since the solstice of 1983 in which she among REGULUS BLACK [friend] and SEVERUS SNAPE [ally] stole a prophecy from The Order of The Phoenix’ headquarters, Andra has become a trusted member. Tasked by THE DARK LORD [leader] to reconnect and curse Mira with dark jewelry, Andra is seeking help from Ottille to brew a potion to encase the ruby locket. Unsure of the information she’ll be able to gather under Mira, Andra is gathering more pieces from her collection to find another subject to bejewel. Brewing revenge, she has her sights set on DOMINIQUE DELACOUR [rival], as the guilty for his father claiming Axel’s death a mere accident. Though the further she falls, comes the choice between safeguarding herself or losing her brother and everything she knows along with it.
— she is a LEVEL 6 WITCH & readied for war ;

BIOGRAPHY ;
Samira Iyer was born to American citizens Aparna and Venkatesh Iyer. She was their first child and they were over the moon as in their culture, they believe a daughter being born is like the Goddess Lakshmi entering your home. Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth and prosperity and that is precisely what she brought as soon as she entered their household. Her father’s business had been doing okay for the past couple of years but within the month of October right after she was born—everything changed. Her father’s luck shifted and he was getting large contracts for his textile importing company and her mother who decided to pursue her life long dream of becoming a nurse actually made it happen once Samira was old enough to go to school.
When Samira was barely a year old though, her parents had another child…Diana Iyer. A very unconventional name it was—but it was all thanks to Samira. Her parents—who had an easy time deciding on her name could not find one for their second daughter until one day little Samira saw Princess Diana on tv and kept pointing to the baby, ‘Diana’. From that moment on, it became her sister’s name. Diana wasn’t like her little sister, instead they were both closer than that—almost twins really. They did everything together.
Her childhood was pretty much perfect in her eyes. She had high expectations from her parents and she excelled in school thanks to their reminder of how important education was for her future. She had a lot of friends in school and was always pretty outgoing and taking part in most extra curriculars as well to make sure they looked good on her resume. She got into Stanford upon graduating from High School and spent the next years of her life there. Given that she was born in Los Angeles, the shift wasn't extreme by any means but she absolutely loved her life at Stanford, a big reason why she ended up moving to San Francisco after getting her MBA.
It was while she was at Stanford that her little sister had decided to go to UNCW and while it kept the girls far apart, they met up as often as their college schedules allowed. Of course while there Diana met her future husband, Kian Lawson someone that Samira had approved of pretty quickly. But when Diana got sick—things changed. Samira had flown out there instantly and had been with her sister while she came to terms with the diagnosis. When the couple decided to marry, she was standing there proudly as her maid of honor. But she had resentment buried in her heart. Of course she desperately wanted Diana to be happy, but her choosing to marry Kian and spend the rest of her remaining time with him as opposed to the family stung her.
She had gone back to school then, needing to focus on her studies—something Diana forced her to do and when the time came, she was there by her sister’s side. Taking a bereavement leave from college wasn’t something Samira had ever believed she’d have to do but such was life. Her bond with Kian from then also shifted—gone were the fun conversations they’d had because they both lost the most important person in their life…the one person they each loved in a way that would never be replaced.
When she returned to Stanford, she threw herself into her studies, ensuring she did the best she could, graduating with honors. Once in San Francisco, Samira worked her way up as a PR marketing manager at various hospitality brands located in there in the city and it’s surrounding areas.. She landed this current job with Fairmont as part of a natural promotion and when they told her she needed to move to North Carolina to see if the area would benefit from another Fairmont hotel in the region, she’d taken the opportunity.
Of course she was moving there with her young daughter Maya. Maya is the product of a long term relationship she’d had while she was in her late 20’s, a relationship that she’d believed was heading towards marriage. They had been engaged when she’d gotten pregnant but he hadn’t been able to deal with the pressure. It was unfortunate—for him, since Maya was pretty much an angelic baby and honesty he missed out on having her in his life. She’s currently just celebrated her seventh birthday and is very excited about this move especially at the prospect of seeing a new place. Often the mother-daughter duo take trips across the United States, their goal is to visit all 50 States and have so far completed 12 states in Maya’s seven years of being born. North Carolina will be their 13th state together.
As a woman—Samira is cold to all those she regards as strangers, building a friendship with her takes time. She won’t blame any past trauma for this but in reality it’s a way to protect both her child and herself from growing attached to anyone who may not remain in her life. But once you get to know her, once you break down through those high walls—she’s truly a very warm person and will often show off her dimpled smile otherwise you get the raised eyebrow that is a very non-verbal way of her saying that you’re wasting her time.
HEADCANONS;
was on the basketball team in school, was also an avid badminton player and founded the woman's cricket league at Stanford ( a fact she's quite proud of)
will always have an iced coffee on her--if she doesn't, there's something wrong
has a couple of standard perfumes that she's always rotating between, some are floral (ie. jasmine, lavender, lilic, frangipani), some smell like sandalwood and then some are like the classic chanel no.5 scents.
her daughter is pestering her for a pet but so far samira hasn't relented but now that they've moved to a different type of city--this might change.
she has a special prayer organized on her sister's birthday every year to pray for her soul.
she swears her daughter has the same mannerisms as diana and often feels like her sister's returned to her life in the form of her daughter.
she loves lush bath products and will always do little bathbombs for her daughter whenever she's having a bad day
has a sibling tattoo that she and her sister got when they were both 18, a little infinity on her wrist with her sister's initials.

MIRA IYER is TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS OLD and a JUNIOR ASSISTANT in THE DEPARTMENT OF MAGICAL LAW ENFORCEMENT at THE MINISTRY OF MAGIC. She looks remarkably like ALIA BHATT and considers herself NEUTRAL. She is currently OPEN.
→ OVERVIEW:
Mira Iyer has lived a charmed life that would make most envious. Born in Holland to a very wealthy family, Mira’s family made their money in the restaurant business establishing numerous restaurants in the wizarding capitals of the world including Amsterdam, Paris, London, New York and Bombay. Arriving in Amsterdam from Western Bombay in the 1920s, Mira’s grandfather was a talented wizard from a respectable Pure-Blood family with a dream of dazzling the world with his talents. Though most magical families left food preparation to staff, ARMAAN IYER found their food often bland, preferring to pick up food from Muggle restaurants when he was home from school. Away at school at The Devamaya College of Magical Arts, he would experiment with food in the kitchens alongside the elves, blending together food he loved with potions and spells he had learned to elevate his cooking. By the time Mira was born in Amsterdam her grandfather had married a half-veela Bollywood actress and his passion had become their passion. Together they opened the finest restaurant in the Danish wizarding community which would quickly spread across the world. Hidden down the side streets of wizarding Amsterdam Ras-Vidha was housed in an enchanted glasshouse containing the beautiful greenery that had surrounded Devamaya in India as magical creatures soared above their heads.
Whilst Mira’s father SAHIL and her aunt DHRUTI were instilled with the ethics of her grandfather and longed to work hard and better what they had, Mira always saw herself as more like grandmother MAHIKA IYER. A woman who worked hard and batted her long lashes to get to where she was in the emerging Bollywood cinema of the 1930s, when she became successful she simply wanted to relax, entertain and enjoy her material wealths which resonated with Mira. With their restaurant business Ras-Vidha proving even more popular due to the wonderful potions and cocktails also available thanks to Sahil and Dhruti’s creativity and expertise, Mira got used to the idea from an early age that she wouldn’t have to work very hard in order to be happy. Her family were amongst some of the wealthiest in Holland and in the wider wizarding world, they hosted fancy dinners in their restaurants and catered events at the Danish Ministry. While most children dreamed of living a life rooted in fantasy, Mira dreamed of having one exactly like the one she had. She wanted to attend film premieres in her grandmother’s vintage sarees and make girls green with envy at Beauxbatons when she married into another wealthy family. Mira wanted her life to be a Bollywood movie, filled with joy, colour and beauty with herself as the focus in the centre frame.
In jest her family had often described her as a princess, citing her as demanding with a laissez faire attitude to work, but Mira hadn’t truly known what demanding looked like until she met ALEXANDRA ROSIER during her first year at Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. The kind of witch who could crack a glacier just by looking at it with her steely gaze, Mira hadn’t ever thought she would feel intimidated by someone until Alexandra’s gaze turned her way. Alexandra was effortlessly cool and commanded a room just by walking into it. Mira didn’t think she wanted to be her, Mira had always been very happy with being herself. But something about Alexandra made Mira want to be close to her and in her orbit no matter how wicked she could be to her. She had a cutting way of speaking to Mira at times that pierced her heart, though a tender touch of her hair as she commented on how she’d styled it for a party and suddenly it all felt worth it again. Mira fell naturally into Alexandra’s inner circle and quickly became her best friend, always on hand to pick her up when Alexandra was feeling down and be involved in a scheme if she needed. Most of her school career at Beauxbatons was spent gossiping in corridors and making sure she was always immaculately presented which was a staple of Alexandra’s inner circle Though Mira is naturally quite a kind person, her dramatic nature often gets the better of her, especially when those who she’s around enjoy causing drama for her to get swept up in.
This often meant exchanging her fair share of wicked glances towards CLAUDETTE DELACOUR. Alexandra’s sworn enemy. Claudette hadn’t ever really had a bad word to say against Mira, but Mira was loyal to Alexandra and if she needed the assistance in putting down people including Claudette, Mira was always there giggling alongside her even if she didn’t find it very funny. Mira found she had lost herself a bit in her relationship with Alexandra, arriving at Beauxbatons with the view of finding a husband and establishing herself in the theatrical arts she had done neither of those things. Her days were spent in servitude to her best friend, something she hadn’t really questioned until her later years at Beauxbatons. Alexandra’s boyfriend SEBASTIAN FONTAINE, was a relatively strong and silent type, though their friendship group brought out the fun loving side of him. Mira noticed he only spoke seriously when he had something important to say and over the years the two had become good friends, exchanging a glance here and a hand squeeze there when Alexandra made Mira doubt herself or put her down. It wasn’t until Sebastian and Alexandra were on the verge of breaking up Mira truly considered her position in their friendship. Alexandra did not love Mira the same way Mira loved her. She didn’t get anything out of their relationship other than whiplash and as she sat one day by the canal in Amsterdam one spring with Sebastain by her side she realised the gravity of her servitude.
Mira had become the secondary character in her own life. The best friend rather than leading lady and she had no marriage prospects or real friends other than Sebastian and ALEXANDER TREMBLAY to show for it. Neither of which she was convinced would want to marry her, despite the long standing crush she’d had on Sebastian through school which he was blissfully unaware of and the longstanding flirtacious relationship she shared with the betrothed Alexander. Mira’s life had been a blend of parties, expensive beauty products and stroking Alexandra’s ego. She made a promise to herself then and there to find herself in the world without Alexandra or the protection of her family money. Returning home she packed her old feelings away in a memory box, hid them under her bed and made a plan to move to London where Sebastian was already living. She needed a break from France and from Holland to go somewhere new. Cashing in on her parent’s contacts Mira interviewed for a job at the British Ministry of Magic and applied for a position in Auror's office as the junior assistant to ALICIA AVERY-JONES, the head of The Department of Magical Law Enforcement, which she quickly secured due to her charming nature. With all of her years serving Alexandra, Mira was used to running around after powerful women. Being barked at each day was second nature to her but at least she was getting paid for it now.
Working diligently under Alicia and her niece LUCILLE JONES who worked as Alicia’s senior assistant, Mira began feeling like her life was finally taking shape. She had a beautiful apartment in Covent Garden her family had subsidised due to her hard work and although she didn’t have much in the way of a personal life due to her demanding boss, what time she did have was spent out drinking with Sebastian, Alexander and famed London party babe STAR DAVENPORT. Everything was falling into place, including a recent flirtationship beginning to flare up between Mira and her colleague ISHAAN PATIL who smelled like success and marriage material to Mira. Then Alexandra came back into her life, showing up one night at The Grave Affair and behaving like they were once again the best of friends. Mira was suspicious of Alexandra at first, but due to her trusting nature has slowly begun to let her guard down and allow Alexandra back into her life despite protests from Sebastian. Around about the time Alexandra came back into her life Mira started to notice gaps of time missing in her memory. One minute she would be with Alexandra and the next she was at work with no knowledge of how she got there. Brushing it off as a result of too many nights out and a lack of sleep, Mira continues her life as normal none the wiser she is being put under the Imperius Curse by her former best friend to do some digging in the Auror’s Office for The Dark Lord.

KINGSLEY SHACKLEBOLT is THIRTY-FOUR YEARS OLD and an AUROR in THE DEPARTMENT OF MAGICAL LAW ENFORCEMENT at THE MINISTRY OF MAGIC. He looks remarkably like DONALD GLOVER and considers himself aligned with THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. He is currently OPEN.
→ OVERVIEW:
From the day Kingsley Shacklebolt was born his life revolved around something he never truly had any interest in, though he was too polite to say anything EUDORA AVERY had once played for The Holyhead Harpies as it’s star Seeker until she’d decided to slow her career down and raise the next great Quidditch star. With a father who was also the lead sports reporter for The Daily Prophet, Kingsley had never really gotten a chance to say what else he wanted out of life. Raised in Holyhead in his large and sprawling family home, Kingsley life began and remained scheduled. Eating and sleeping schedules were timed to almost a second as was contact time with his parents or moments he could spend alone in his room playing with his toys. Like everything in her life, Kingsley’s mother wanted to be the very best parent to her only son. She had spent her entire pregnancy reading every book published on motherhood and used her own intuition to ensure that Kingsley would be raised competent with a broomstick and well versed in the rules of Quidditch. A Pure-Blood family, Kingsley was taught by his mother when most Muggle children began to attend Primary School, though she ensured a large portion of the day was spent on their family estate helping her son to manage a broomstick.
Avery’s were flyers and no son of hers would be handling a broomstick for the first time on his first flying lesson at Hogwarts. His childhood felt managed with little time for fun and rarely involved other children. Playing with the local children in Holyhead his mother believed would distract from his studies or Quidditch lessons which had to be completed each day before he was allowed outside to play. By the time Kingsley was headed off to Hogwarts he was able to control his magic with ease and had mastered flying through the air and tossing a Quaffle with the same ease achieved by people twice his age. There was no double Kingsley would become a talented Quidditch player, it was in his blood after all. It just wasn’t in his heart. The books which lined the halls of their family library spoke of great Quidditch players like his mother, grandfather and great uncle Thomas who had made history due to their escapades. But the library also contained other books he found interesting about the other side of his family. Though his father had broken with Shacklebolt family tradition to become a sports journalist their family had been known mostly for their role as Aurors.
His grandfather on his father’s side Vicarage Shacklebolt had been involved with the tracking and capturing of many of Gellert Grindelwald’s English accomplices and helped place their family in the eyes of the wizarding world though there had been great Aurors before him. Something set his imagination ablaze as he read history books and old newspaper clippings about his grandfather. It was a passion he couldn’t muster for Quidditch even though he knew it would make his mother happy if he could. Kingsley was good at the game, he just simply wasn’t in love with it. When Kingsley’s letter arrived to attend Hogwarts his parents were overjoyed at the prospect of him playing Quidditch at school. Their family had all competed on the Ravenclaw team at some point in their lives and it was decided that he would also when he joined Hogwarts. Ravenclaw was on his mind as he sat under the sorting hat though the hat needed more time to decide if it felt that was the exact right fit for him. There was bravery in Kingsley that shone through to the sorting hat though ultimately it decided that Ravenclaw would be his home which was where he met his best friend TOMAS WOOD.
Tomas was sorted after Kingsley and was the most Quidditch obsessed boy he’d ever met, deciding he would seek him out the moment he heard his name be called. Kingsley hoped that Hogwarts would be his opportunity to distance himself from Quidditch and his family name but Tomas helped him find some sort of love for the game he was destined to keep playing. Tomas longed to be the captain of the Ravenclaw team and with his love for the game, knowledge and talent Kingsley had no doubt he would make it there, with or without his support. Joining the team together Kingsley became the star Beater of the team and a famous dynamic duo with Tomas who dominated Hogwarts Quidditch cup during their time at the school. But Kingsley wanted more than just to be known for Quidditch and worked hard at school to show his professors that he deserved more responsibility. In his fourth year Kingsley became a prefect and established a relationship with Gryffindor prefects ALICE YEN and BILLIUS WEASLEY. Alice was a hardworking and talented witch with aspirations to be an Auror despite the fact her family wanted her to take over her family shop. Billius was the life and soul of the party and Alice’s opposite in many ways as she tried to rein him in alongside all of the younger Gryffindors they’d been tasked with trying to control. Alice and Bill brought out a new side of Kingsley that made him want to explore his true self.
Kingsley wanted to be an Auror and he worked hard at school to prove he had exactly what it took to leave Hogwarts and become one just like his grandfather. A firm favourite of his Defence Against The Dark Arts teachers and of PROFESSOR ALBUS DUMBLEDORE, Kingsley was advised by Dumbledore to follow his dreams and leave the wants of his parents in the past. Kingsley was more than just a Quidditch player and someone destined for greatness. He saw injustices in the world and knew that his abilities would be useful in righting the wrongs he saw creeping up around him and making the wizarding world a better place for everyone which was more important than what his mother wanted for him. His family were not happy when he announced he’d changed his course, particularly his mother and younger cousin JASPER AVERY who idolised Kingsley and wanted to be exactly like him. It was hurtful to see his family saddened by his choices but Kingsley stuck by them and was firm that he would become an Auror. Graduating a decorated Quidditch player and head boy, Kingsley began Auror training alongside Alice and worked tirelessly to train and prove himself to their boss ALASTOR MOODY. A very talented duellist, Kingsley’s speciality is tracking down people of interest and securing them to bring in for questioning.
A brave wizard with a strong sense of right and wrong Kingsley isn’t afraid to dig deep into those he believes need to be brought to justice no matter who they are. It was this ideology that brought him once again to the attention of Albus Dumbledore who asked Kingsley to consider taking part in a group of people he was putting together. The Order of The Phoenix was put in place to help protect the wizarding community from dark forces they knew were slowly taking over London. Although Kingsley and his friends knew dark forces were looking it was Dumbeldore who provided them a face, TOM RIDDLE. With people going missing daily without any arrests being made Kingsley has a sneaking suspicion that the current ongoings are being covered at The Ministry up and has begun to look inside for answers that The Dark Lord had begun to infiltrate the government. Although Kingsley is a very careful wizard he has the sneaking suspicion he is being watched. Working a few missing persons cases, Kinsgley would find his files go missing or notes he had taken misplaced. Frustrated, Kingsley has begun privately investigating his colleague MIRA IYER who he noticed had been acting strangely of recent and missing gaps of time which seemed suspicious. Alongside his new mentee, hopeful Auror CARDORAC DEARBORN, Kingsley is determined to confirm his theory and isn’t afraid to upset the apple cart in order to prove it.

More than 300 prominent individuals, including filmmakers Mira Nair, Nandita Das, actors Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Jaaved Jafferi, Homi K Bhabha, Partha Chatterjee, Anita Desai, Kiran Desai, TM Krishna, Ashish Nandy, and Gaytri Chakravorty Spivak, among others, have signed an open letter, expressing their solidarity with the students of India who have been protesting Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and against the National Register of Citizens (NRC). Extending their support to the students, the signatories said in their letter, “We stand in solidarity with the students and others who are protesting and speaking out against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and against the National Register of Citizens (NRC). We salute their collective cry for upholding the principles of the Constitution of India, with its promise of a plural and diverse society. We are aware that we have not always lived up to that promise, and many of us have too often remained silent in the face of injustice. The gravity of this moment demands that each of us stand for our principles.” Also read: Shah Rukh Khan: ‘I am a Muslim, my wife is a Hindu and my kids are Hindustan’. Watch video Here is the complete text of the letter: An open statement from members of the Creative and Scholarly Community in IndiaWe are artists, filmmakers, writers and scholars. Our work reflects people’s lives, struggles and hopes. We offer our dreams to everyone.But what dream can show us the way in the midst of the present nightmare? Our vision for this nation demands that we speak up now, in the name of our democracy and the constitution that protects it. We stand in solidarity with the students and others who are protesting and speaking out against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and against the National Register of Citizens (NRC). We salute their collective cry for upholding the principles of the Constitution of India, with its promise of a plural and diverse society. We are aware that we have not always lived up to that promise, and many of us have too often remained silent in the face of injustice. The gravity of this moment demands that each of us stand for our principles.The policies and actions of the present government, passed quickly through parliament and without opportunity for public dissent or open discussion, are antithetical to the principle of a secular, inclusive nation. The soul of the nation is threatened. The livelihoods and statehoods of millions of our fellow Indians are at stake. Under the NRC, anyone unable to produce documentation (which, in many cases, does not exist) to prove their ancestry may be rendered stateless.  Those deemed“illegal” through the NRC may be eligible for citizenship under the CAA, unless they are Muslim.Contrary to the stated objective of the government, this does not appear to be a benign legislation, only meant to shelter persecuted minorities. The list of exclusions seems to indicate otherwise. Why are minorities from other neighbours like Sri Lanka, China and Myanmar excluded? Isit because the ruling powers in these latter countries are not Muslim? It appears that the legislation believes that only Muslim governments can be perpetrators of religious persecution. Why exclude the most persecuted minorities in the region,the Rohingya of Myanmar or the Uighurs of China? This legislation only acknowledges Muslim perpetrators, never Muslim victims. The aim is transparent: Muslims are the unwelcome Other.This is state-sanctioned religious persecution, and we will not condone it. In Assam and the Northeast, and in Kashmir, the indigenous identity and livelihood is threatened as never before, and we will not condone it. The response of the government and law-enforcement agencies to the distress of its citizens has been callous and high-handed. India has seen the most Internet shutdowns of any democracy in the world. Police brutality has left hundreds injured, including many students from Jamia Milia Islamia University and Aligarh Muslim University. Several citizens have been killed while protesting. Many more have been placed in preventive detention. Section 144 has been imposed in numerous states to curb protests. We need look no further than Kashmir to see how far this government is willing to go to suppress democratic dissent. Kashmir is now living under the longest Internet shutdown ever imposed by a democratic government. Enough is enough.Those of us who have been quiet in the past, our silence ends now. We will be clear-sighted in our dissent. Like our freedom fighters before us, we stand for a secular and inclusive vision of India. We stand with those who bravely oppose anti-Muslim and divisive policies. We stand with those who stand up for democracy. We will be with you on our streets and across all our platforms. We are in solidarity.” Here is a list of some the signatories: Rahman Abbas, Anvita Abbi, Ajayan Adat, Ramona Adhikari, Faraz Ahmad, Anvar Ali, Zaheer Ali, Lalitha Alilu, Shimit Amin, Jyothi Ananthasubbarao, Vidya Das Arora, Sushila Bahanda, Vikas Bajpai, Ritwik Banerjee, Sudeshna Banerjee, Sumanta Banerjee, Susan Barton, Aamir Bashir, Amit Basole, Rakhi Basu, Dev Benegal, Homi Bhabha, Amit Bhaduri, Madhu Bhaduri, Nabakumar Bhattacharyya, Akeel Bilgrami, Rani Day Burra, Sundar Burra, Meena C. As a mom caught between a delicate little one who doesn’t do too properly at college and a inflexible, unsympathetic father, Chopra had delivered a nuanced efficiency. However Hindi movies didn’t supply her components of enough high quality and value. Chopra took initiative to jot down and produce Chutney, a brief movie that has steadily clocked up milestones, together with being essentially the most watched quick movie with over 124 million views, and an HBO viewers selection award in New York. The digital medium has additionally introduced her a lead function in a worthwhile mission after some time. She performs Dr Mira Anand in Hostages, an adaptation of the extremely profitable Israeli sequence of the identical title. “The a part of Dr Mira Anand was mouth wateringly good. This can be a new medium for me too. I had solely dubbed sporadically and hadn’t watched any inner screenings so I noticed it when it started to stream. I cherished capturing for this sequence because the ambiance on set was unbelievable. With a thoughts like Sudhir Mishra directing it,  it could be a waste to adapt the unique as is. Each the writing and the method of engaged on this present non cease was one thing that I seemed ahead to,” Tisca remembers. Tisca Chopra and Rasika Dugal in a nonetheless from Chutney. Picture from Fb Tisca is amongst the present crop of 40 plus feminine actors which have discovered a second alternative with the digital platform. Shefali Shah gained appreciation and recognition amongst millennial viewers with Delhi Crime. She performed Assistant Police Commissioner Vartika Chaturvedi, in command of bringing within the perpetrators of the brutal, inhuman 2016 Delhi rape case. For Shah, engaged on a Netflix sequence introduced an opportunity to construct and develop a personality whose experiences and feelings resemble actuality. It additionally introduced alternative to be seen all over the world. “Delhi Crime dropped in 190 nations on the similar time. No movie can deliver you as broad a launch as this. The response that we’ve obtained for this sequence has been overwhelming, with folks from everywhere in the world, among the most sudden locations. What we had been very clear about proper from the start is that this story be handled with utmost sensitivity, and must be finished correctly. Richie Mehta and his staff did that,” she remembers. An added advantage of being seen on digital OTT content material that’s obtainable internationally is gives for first rate components from abroad. Each Chopra and Shah have been beneficiaries, with extra internet sequence gives and high quality components coming their approach. Whereas they can’t focus on particulars but, they do state that these gives have come to them organically, a direct consequence of their work been seen globally. Shefali Shah in a nonetheless from Delhi Crime. Netflix Tisca and Shefali belong to the class of feminine actors which have performed the lengthy recreation. They’ve chosen high quality components over time, not succumbing to maximisation of economic movie roles that field them in as sisters or moms. They’ve additionally paid the worth of taking part in characters relatively than chase heroine components as youthful actors. But, as tales, which have stayed untouched by mainstream movie or TV for a very long time, lastly make it to screens, the worth of their expertise and credibility as actors has introduced them to middle stage. In the case of taking part in characters, you want an actor who can deliver depth and be constant. Kaafir, an internet sequence at the moment streaming on Zee5, was meant to be a movie initially. Bhavani Iyer had written this story 13 years in the past. It took form as an internet sequence when Dia Mirza got here on board. She performs the lead as a Pakistani girl wrongfully imprisoned in India as a terrorist. Mirza, whose final movie outing was Sanju, has not been part of Bollywood movies typically. With Kaafir, there may be room for her to show her performing chops and discover the rising area of digital leisure. It additionally brings the present star attraction. Dia Mirza in a nonetheless from Kaafir. Zee5 Like Kaafir, a sequence initially conceived and written by a lady, Leila has been been written by Urmi Juvekar. Deepa Mehta is inventive govt producer and has directed a few episodes on this dystopian thriller that brings a second likelihood for Huma Qureishi to show her performing prowess. A good actor, Qureishi has all the time delivered on her roles however has battled towards the perfect physique picture of a Bollywood heroine. Leila has her taking part in a determined, decided character with restraint and empathy. It additionally locations her within the evolving area of performance-oriented actors that flourish within the lengthy format of streaming. Huma Qureshi in a nonetheless from Leila. Netflix Off late, those who had type of retired from public reminiscence have additionally discovered alternative in internet sequence that inform a strong story. Sakshi Tanwar, after her flip in Dangal, has acted in The Closing Name (Zee5) and Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat (AltBalaji). It’s refreshing that actors who as soon as had been family names and aspirational for a lot of ladies, now have components to play suited to their age and stature. With these alternatives, pressures of wanting youthful and taking part in youthful folks has positively eased up. Rasika Dugal, who has been a part of internet sequence Mirzapur, credit digital content material for the truth that she is now recognised as an actor. “Lastly, we now have begun to acknowledge the contribution of the author, crucial half within the inventive course of. I believe we now have begun making an attempt to speak about feminine want accurately with the sort of writing that the online gives,” she states. Hollywood stars selected to maneuver to internet sequence fairly a while in the past when roles started drying up in an occasion and superhero-dominated movie studio system. Ladies took the lead right here too, and have been a part of some highly regarded and fascinating sequence. In India, the evolution has been gradual however the change is definite and visual. As these ladies take the lead in delivering plausible performances in complicated tales, with feminine writers and makers additionally taking cost, the potential for content material that symbolize the feminine expertise, accurately, is large. Right here is hoping it continues to resonate with audiences in the long term. SHAHLYLA SHAFIQ is TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS OLD and a SOCIALITE amongst THE SACRED TWENTY-EIGHT in LONDON. She looks remarkably like SOPHIA ALI and considers herself NEUTRAL. She is currently OPEN.
→ OVERVIEW:
tw: death, twin death
Unapologetically herself, Shahlyla Shafiq has always aspired to live her own life and not adhere to a prescribed storyline handed to her by anyone else, which has been the source of many explosive arguments. The youngest child of IMRAN and AZRA SHAFIQ, Shahlyla was born into a position of privilege as a young lady of an enviable family within The Sacred Twenty-Eight. Growing up on the Shafiq estate in Herefordshire, Shahlyla’s childhood was perfectly packaged and presented, with strict schedules to ensure she was raised as accomplished. The lineage of her family rested heavily on Shahlyla and her siblings shoulders. Many members of The Twenty-Eight have notoriously cracked under the pressure with most towing the line, but Shahlyla refused and thankfully her twin brother RAYAN was exactly the same. Curious souls with playful natures, the pair spent many of their lessons daydreaming, chatting and playing games much to the dismay of their tutors who did their best to keep the twins apart and focused on the tasks at hand. As hard as her family tried to control them both, the pair fought back, Shahlyla growing into a feisty no-nonse witch who enjoyed challenging her family and their preconceptions of the world around them. The world around her held mystery and intrigue and she was focused in her pursuit of finding out as much as she possibly could.
Sitting beside her brother in a hidden room in their house, her and Rayan hatched their plans, longing to travel and write together and documenting their travels and what they found there. Committed to their dream, she grew to be at odds with her mother, stomping through her dance lessons and refusing to strum a single string on her harp. Life was bigger than Britain and it was bigger than The Sacred Twenty-Eight, whose conventions and ideologies were stuffy and ridiculous. The Noble House of Shafiq had a flawless reputation, which Shahlyla’s mother was determined to uphold and had been plotting the emergence of Shahlyla and her siblings into Pure-Blood society since the moment they were born. Whilst EJAAL and LARA simply accepted their parents teaching, the concept of blood supremacy was lost on the twins, who had taken the time to learn and access information. Great casters of magic and brewers of potions had been from various backgrounds, something their parents refused to acknowledge though hilariously stocked books on. The more they ignored them, the more Shahlyla in particular pushed and asked questions, unafraid to make people uncomfortable and happy to share her opinions based on what she’d learned which did not simply end in the Shafiq home.
Azra encouraged Shahlyla to make good connections with children she’d be mixing with at Hogwarts, though she quickly realised how much of a mistake that was. People like CAIUS BURKE and DECIUS FLINT quickly became enemies rather than friends due to her ideology, becoming somewhat of an outcast amongst purists members of society. Parents quickly began to end their play dates and as word spread, even her older siblings had found their connections at Hogwarts growing hostile toward them. At the end of her tether and concerned about the marriage prospects of her children, Azra decided to send Shahlyla and Rayan to Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, hopeful that a school that prided itself on beauty and etiquette would shape her youngest children into shape ready to join society. Arriving at the school hidden within the pyrenees, Shahlyla was incredibly standoffish. She had little interest in dancing and singing and combing her hair, which made her feel every bit the outcast. The twins stuck together, relying on one another for comfort in the strange and beautiful world of Beauxbatons, they believed was sadly no different to the elitist environment they had grown up in. Thankfully, people began to emerge which showed them otherwise.
JAQUELINE LEJEUNE, GABRIEL DUMONT, CLAUDETTE DELACOUR and RAPHAEL FRANCOIS were the light of Shahlyla’s life, challenging adversity and showing her that, certainly in the case of Claudette, that Pure-Blood sorcerers weren’t all as close minded as her parents. Away at Beaxbatons her time was spent debating and getting into trouble. She loved getting under the skin of ALEXANDRA ROSIER and her little band of followers. Graduating from Beaxbatons hadn’t had quite the result her mother had hoped for, when Shahlyla arrived back at home she was just as wild as when she had left, conversing loudly at parties and garnering snide looks and comments from other members of The Twenty-Eight. After a loud enough conversation at a coming out ball had resulted in the severing of Lara’s marriage contract with a wealthy suitor, Shahlyla had been turned away from the family home with her inheritance and asked to not defame the family name. Her parents loved her dearly but convention was everything and with their youngest child away they knew they their other children stood a better chance of happiness. Exploring Europe, Shahlyla traveled round for a number of years before settling in Budapest, working as a healer at the magical hospital in the city where she used herbs and natural potions to help those in need. It was a simple life but Shahlyla was happiest away from those who didn’t understand her, where she could be herself.
The death of her twin brother sent waves through their family, striking Shahlyla hard and ripping her soul in two as soon as she heard the news. Her and Rayan had always been close despite them continuing on their own paths after school had ended and for a long while Shahlyla wasn’t sure how to live in a world without him. Burying her brother was one of the most difficult things she’d ever had to do, clutching onto his widow’s hand as she sobbed into her shoulder. Shahlyla felt somewhat responsible for Mina, doing her best to pipe up and protect her from the wickedness of her mother and sister who she knew blamed Mina for her brother’s death. After the funeral, Shahlyla was all set to return to Budapest until a letter addressed to her stopped her. Written in her brother’s hand, Shahlyla cried as she read his poem. Scrambled in the beauty of his rhyme, it spoke of their relationship and their bond which he hoped she’d find in his wife who would need her strength. Curious as to her brother’s plan, Shahlyla decided to stay at home for a while, forging a familial bond with MINA SHAFIQ she’d never had with her own sister. Much to her surprise, Shahlyla had not been the only person to receive her brother’s poems and as they became closer Mina shared with Shahlyla the box of poetry she had found before Rayan had died which spoke of his desire for a closer family.
Shahlyla knew that her family would never accept Mina, but felt compelled to at least help her obtain closure. Dutifully, Shahlyla joined Pura Sorrers alongside Mina- attempting to seem like she cared about the shade of magnolias her mother thought would suit the June ball, only piping up every so often to distract attention away from Mina when she said something considered wrong by the ladies sitting on the panel. Being in the society and listening to the dribble of WALBURGA and DRUELLA BLACK was torture to Shahlyla. They stood for everything she despised and her liberal ways and modern thinking ensured she was often silenced. Ready to pack up and quit, a second letter left on her bed stopped her. Like the first, it had been from her brother- this poem detailing a darkness and a fear that was unlike any of the prose she had previously read by him. Shahlyla’s mind began to run wild with theories, picking apart the poem with her sister-in-law and drawing conclusions as to what it meant. The poem was written as though her brother knew death was coming to collect him, which for a man bitten by a poisonous bug at random didn’t make a great deal of sense. Her detective hat firmly on her head, Shahlyla is determined to get to the bottom of her brother’s mysterious passing even if his widow isn’t’ quite prepared to accept his death was anything but an accident.

VERRIER ELWIN
Verrier Elwin came to India as a Christian preacher, but took up anthropology as a primary interest. He was an ethnographer and in 1932 began to work among the Baiga tribe of Madhya Pradesh. This was later published as The Baiga in 1939. This was introduced by Hutton. It was cited often but it contained the first citation of his statement on isolationism for tribals. He had noted that the Baigas were being destroyed by the landlords and the missionaries. To protect them from exploitation he suggested that the State should prevent or control their interaction with outsiders.     Verrier Elwin has always been associated with the issue of the integration of tribal societies with the greater Indian society. Such an integrationist stance was initially opposed by him, when he proposed that tribals should be left alone instead of being constantly interfered with and acculturated. This gave him the reputation of being a person who advocated separate ‘reserved national parks’ for tribals. Such national parks he also called ‘Tribal Reserve Area.’ Such a stance was also being used at the time by the United States government. After this, Elwin went on to study the Murias of the Bastar region. He devoted one book to the study of the youth dormitories among the Murias there. It was seen from his work that such youth dormitories were an indispensable part of many other tribal societies as well. It was responsible for training the youth in various social activities and for initiating them into sexual activities. This led others to work on the activities of the youth dormitories in other tribal societies. He went on to publish many more works on tribal and other cultures. He published one on the religion of the tribes, their folklore, myths of origin, etc. In a study of the Borneo highlanders he again supported isolationism. This was criticized by several nationalist leaders and proassimilation anthropologists. Finally, when Elwin wrote A Philosophy For NEFA he propagated a more assimilationistic stance in collaboration with the Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. In his integrationist model of the tribe, he propagated the idea, following Nehru’s panchsheel that the tribes should be allowed to develop according to their own dictates. Elwin went on to become a member of several committees on tribal affairs and also an editor of Man in India. His house in Shillong now houses his wife and son, and a host of memorabilia that exhibit his travels among the tribals of India. Many of the photographs that he took now adorn the walls of the Museum and Department of Anthropology, NEHU, Shillong.     RAI BAHADUR SARAT CHANDRA ROY Yet, within this history and culture of anthropology in India is a history of interaction between anthropologists and tribals and its effects in the last one hundred years. S. C. Roy started his work among the tribals of Chotanagpur in the early years of this century. S. C. Roy never talked of Anthropology without it being contextualized within India. “From our Indian view-point the ulterior object of the science of Man is, or should be, to understand the meaning and goal of human existence, – the trend, direction and aim of human culture and civilization, the eternal spiritual reality behind life and society, the Sat behind the at, and to ascertain, as far as possible, the laws that govern the thought and behaviour of man in Society.” (Roy; 1937: 243) Anthropology is frequently accused of being the study of ‘Primitive Society.’ Yet, this is because “primitive society exhibits the ground-plan on which the more complex structure that we call civilization has been built up” (Roy; 1937: 249). Such studies should be followed by studies of complex and advanced societies. Different cultures at various levels of complexity should be analyzed, compared and comprehended (Roy; 1937: 249). On the issue of charismatic figures, he says: “It is on these horses of thought, action and feeling, who with their kindling ideas and throbbing words, and inspiring message and example, act as levers to lift society to higher levels by introducing new ideals and viewpoints, it is on them that the measure and standard of a people’s culture depend.” (Roy; 1937: 252) According to Roy (1937) anthropology is for use, for nation-building in a positive sense, for fellow-feeling among human beings and for writing the eternal history of humankind. S. C. Roy was no objective anthropologist. He began with the idea of helping the oppressed tribals of the region. In order to reframe the way outsiders manipulated them, he had to prepare an outline of their customary laws. In order to do so, he had to study their oral and mythical history, their social and cultural life, at first hand. The only discipline that suited him was that of the anthropologist. He wished anthropology to be there as a subject in all Universities and also as a requirement of officers in administration and bureaucracy. It soon became apparent that early accounts of Indian tribes were mostly written by British authors. Out of 100 articles on anthropology published between 1784 to 1883, in the Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bengal, only 3 articles were by Indians. In Calcutta Review, there were 53 articles on anthropology published between 1843-1883, only three by Indians (Roy; 1992: 13). There were no monographs on tribes by Indian authors. Sarat Chandra Roy took care to learn the dialects of the various tribes of the region. He had no formal training, yet he managed to create a good rapport by his ability and knowledge. At the time there were very few roads. Photos exist in his house showing his travels on elephantback through jungles. A large map also exists showing all the villages of the area. S. C. Roy marked all the villages he had visited with a red circle. The entire map was a mass of red. Few villages survived being marked. During his later years he frequently talked of his work to Nirmal Kumar Bose and to his youngest daughter, Mira Roy, who died in February 2006. According to him, all his works needed to be revised to include individual differences that occur in each of the different villages. As a first step, he made notebooks for each thana and tehsil where he numbered and noted down one village on each page. On these pages, he noted whatever information he knew regarding the villages. This was a remarkable attitude of collecting local data, which is only now becoming popular. Yet, Roy’s work must also be seen in the context of the everyday life of the Oraon which did not have (and still does not have) a structuralized behaviour pattern for behaving with outsiders. S.C. Roy was also one of the ‘diku’ yet clearly was never called such names. Further, the researcher in his attempt to gain intimacy becomes a ‘friend’, a term which an Oraon well understands. This deep effect of the anthropologist on tribal society was well observed by D.N. Majumdar: “How far this was true was seen by us in 1921, when some of us, then students of anthropology at Calcutta visited the Munda country with Dewan Bahadur L.K. Anantakrishna Iyer, Reader in Anthropology, Calcutta University. We visited hamlet after hamlet, we went into the interior villages of the Munda country, we enquired about the intimate social life of the people and everywhere we visited we felt the invisible presence of Roy. Every village we passed through, we were greeted with shouts of Sarat Babu Ki Jay. It is no wonder that Roy represented the tribal people of his district in Bihar Legislature for successive terms.” (in Roy; 1980: 210) It is the social-ness of the work of S. C. Roy that is his main advantage. His house had a set of rooms prepared for his tribal clients so that those who came from far-off villages could stay on while his case was being fought in court. Ultimately, S. C. Roy was thinking not just in the tribal language but in terms of their own worldview. An incident that shows this side of him relates to the construction of a bridge over a river at Lohardaga: “The river side had Hindu and Oraon settlements. Since the bridge was washed out twice earlier, the contractor wanted to placate the Gods of both the villages. He repaired an old dilapidated temple of Hindus and presented a flag with a railway engine painted on it to the Oraon which was a symbol of power to that parha of Oraons in the Jatra festival. But envious of this, one of the neighbouring parha made a same kind of flag having the emblem and led [to] trouble at the annual Jatra festival at Bhasko. Two persons were killed. Fearing similar trouble next year, Roy was consulted by the sub-divisional Magistrate and he then presented a flag emblemed with an aeroplane and explained the superiority of it to the senior members of the parha of the latter village next year. A happy solution came out and no trouble occurred at the jatra that year.” (Roy; 1980: 215-216) In the last years of his life he was very ill. He found no strength to get up from his bed. He slept straight with his feet pointing through the doorway to the length of his study. He would request his servants to turn his book-shelves towards him so that he could look at his beloved books all day. Once, in a moment of sadness he told his daughter that if he were to die, to be re-born in another place, he only wished he retained the memories of all the books he had read intact. His vision and his genius were his alone. None after him was ever able to put together a plausible worldview of the various tribals of the region into a whole. When he died on 30th April, 1942 on the holy day of Buddha Purnima, he left a yawning emptiness. His students often berated his constant delays and re-corrections of his own articles since it kept him from writing more. He wrote much but he took away much more. Notes on improvements of his various books abound, ignored and forgotten in that sprawling empty house of his where only his youngest daughter stayed till her death in 2006. A museum, a library, a table and a chair exactly as he left it and whole generations of anthropologists and tribals who come to buy his books and copies of the journal that he started now frequent the house where anthropology began in this part of the world.

When actors team up with female directors, they are often asked if it makes a difference to them considering the majority of directors are men in the industry. Rajkummar Rao, who has worked with a number of female directors including Reema Kagti, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Mira Nair, states that there is no difference between working under the direction of a woman or a man. He elaborates, “When it comes to art, gender has no role to play. I am a firm believer in feminism and I am a feminist. A female pilot doesn’t fly the plane differently from a male pilot. So, when it comes to filmmaking, it’s also about doing a job. The director is the captain of the ship. There is perhaps discrimination in the industry because there are fewer female directors and writers and we need more of them.” The Times of  India : 29th. Nov,17
