Hey, hope you're doing well! Have you been able to keep up with The Chosen? I can imagine you're crazy busy, but just letting you know I miss your blog updates (including non-Chosen content :3)

Um, firstly adorable i love this message🥺

I've seen the first few episodes of the season so far, but I havent been able to keep fully up to date with it! I'm hoping once life settles back down this month I'll be able to come back to actually regularly posting on this blog.

I'm thinking about reorganising what that looks like a little, but I havent really come to any conclusions. I'd love to actually be able to have more discussions with people about stuff on here as well. So if anyone has comments on what they like seeing I'd love to hear it!

I'm definitely hoping to be back in the next month or so. I'm still floating around tumblr, so i definitely see when people send me asks or reblog stuff, i just havent been posting much on this blog (fingers crossed I'll be back soon, i miss you guys)

It’s really funny to me that the first real scene of HOTD was the gayest scene to gay:

Like, right out of the gate they gave us a blonde-haired bi disaster and her wife, a smiley curly-haired brown-eyed lesbian, flirting and sighing at each other like newlyweds. As if they don’t spend practically every waking moment around each other.

the year is 2024, season 5 is out and byler is canon. finn wolfhard is finally getting asked questions about mike’s character arc as a closeted queer person. about how he had to play a character who was hiding not only from himself and his loved ones but also the audience and all the challenges he faced playing this role and pulling that off. questions not just about byler but about mike as his own person.

have the human researchers encountered the tribe? if not, hypothetically, how differently would they approach researching the tribe opposed to the clan cats, if at all?

It would actually be a LOT easier if they knew about it. They would really enjoy studying the Tribe.

Tribe cats don't have the same cultural fear of humans, but they're also not TOTALLY unacclimated to them. They occasionally come in conflict with humans as a result of the sheep hunts they carry out, intentionally driving an unattended sheep away from a herd and running them off a cliff to kill it.

There was once a time where One Eye took the form of a human, rallying some of the farmers into an eradication campaign. That was one of his deadliest incarnations, but after he was driven off a cliff like a sheep to his death, the farmers dispersed again.

I think a lot of the cats in this region have "Local Folklore." The researchers have a lot of little nuggets to find, all around this county.

OK @trigun98watchparty, let's begin the killing time recap.

--It's perfect that Meryl's friend is named Karen, because that mole near her mouth means she's a gossip. She does seem to care about Meryl, though. Wants her to get married and everything.

--Ofc her officemates want to hear all the skinny on her interactions with Vash the Stampede. Wouldn't you?

--Look how happy Meryl is. She's gonna find Vash and give him all the kisses a very stern talking-to. It's official, Meryl and Milly are off to the DIrty Jerz.

--Awwww, the bike broke down again. This is tip-top, grade-A, prime bickering between Vash and WW. "Actually, I'm dissing you, not your stupid broken motorcycle!" It's not Trigun if these two aren't squawking at each other.

--What the hell kind of nasty-ass spaghetti are they eating? It looks like it has Spam in it. That is just wrong. (yeah, I know, spaghetti western.) And WW gets stuck with the check, just like Vash threatened.

--The girls are so cute in their PJ's. I love that we know what most of the main characters wear to bed. (I bet WW wears the rattiest underpants you ever saw, with a tank undershirt.)

--I love that Vash has old friends all over the place. He and Max (and probably Doc) went out for Obi-Wan and Anakin-style Wild Adventures and probably ripped it up wherever they went.

--It has to be incredibly hard on Vash to watch his friends get older while he stays the same.

--Meryl will KICK YOU in the NUTS. < / cartman > Nice subverted panty shot, though it doesn't come through in English. Good luck "having fun" with Meryl or Milly.

--"Total slaughter, total slaughter..."

--WW and his noodles, best silly face

--let's all take several moments to appreciate Vash's extreme hotness in his white button-down

--"Luck and persistence won't work forever." Especially with you conniving with Legato and co. to force his hand, eh, WW?

--"Tee hee, ma'am is so happy to see him. I'll give them a couple minutes alone."

--Vash/Meryl fanciers: Take a moment to go read "Biting My Tongue" and then come back.

--Vash and Meryl (at this point, anyway) could never admit in a thousand years that they might have missed one another. Meanwhile, WW likely took one look at Milly: "Big Girl! I missed you!" "I missed you too, Mr. Priest, it's so nice to see you again!" "I have a couple extra double dollars, do you want to go get some ice cream?" "That would be so nice of you, Mr. Priest! Yay!"

--Domo arigatou, Mr. Legato...

Thinking back on it... Vash starts to show a renewed determination to push back after his time with Grandma Sheryl and Lina. For two years (the anime is fuzzy on this so I'm using manga timeline) he got to be who he wanted to be - just another silly guy, living his life, doing ordinary things and being happy. No one knew whether he was alive, and he was able to live in peace. Which is pretty much all Vash genuinely wants. Without his brother chasing him and pulling the strings, he was able to accomplish that.

Vash has had a taste of what his life could be like without Knives being a dick to him all the time. So... what is he going to do about it?

Climbed up something and got stuck

Cried abt how much he loves Wolfwood, Meryl, and Milly

Kissed Wolfwood, Meryl, and Milly on the head or cheek

Cried about how beautiful the stars were

Picked up and carried around Kuroneko

Hugged Woldwood, Meryl, or Milly and refused to let go and or fell asleep on them

Got himself and the others banned from multiple places

Broke something really expensive

Mistook a stranger for Wolfwood, Milly, or Meryl and clung onto them

Begged Wolfwood give him a piggy back ride and wouldn’t stop begging, said he’d never bother Wolfwood again or ask for anything else. When Wolfwood finally gave in Vash refused to get off his back.

Tried to drive Wolfwoods bike

Spent all his remaining money on doughnuts while left unsupervised

Taken peoples hats

Refused to give said hats back

Cried bc Wolfwood took the hats from Vash to give back to the people he took them from

Committed arson (on accident)

Tried to take Wolfwood’s gun (it fell on him and Wolfwood was too busy laughing to try and help him get up)

Rambled incoherently about his past to literally anyone and everyone but nobody could understand him because his words were all jumbled

Laid on the floor in the middle of the room and made people walk around/on him

Started speaking a different language

Started flirting with people in a different language so nobody knew what he was saying

Tried to kiss Wolfwood on the mouth

Picked up Meryl and started carrying her around

Tried to do the same thing to Wolfwood but dropped him and complained that he was too big

Takes anything and everything he thinks is interesting (Wolfwood does his best to stop Vash from stealing things but it is very hard)

Tried to get Woldwood, Meryl, and Milly to play cards with him and then passed out halfway through

Lost his motel room key, broke in through the window with Wolfwood, found the key in his pocket immediately after

Slept on the floor instead of the bed because the bed was “too much”

Tried talking to the moon

Started listening off every weird fact he knows

Said he had to go to the bathroom but refused to go alone because “the bathroom is scary” and made Wolfwood come with him.

Forgets literally everything

Overshares everything

One night he almost got a really stupid tattoo before Wolfwood found him and dragged him away

Begged Wolfwood to rub his back

Talked about all the times he almost died

Stood in an alleyway menacingly

Tried to shower, slipped and fell, and then yelled for Woldwood until he came and helped him stand up even though he wasn’t injured

Almost choked to death on an ice cube from his drink

Buried all of his money and drew a “treasure map” to it

Sorry, this has been lurking in my ask box for ages, and i kept forgetting about it in the business of all the holiday things!

I have in fact seen S3E1 now!!

My thoughts:

As more and more characters get introduced, the vibe feels a little different, but I'm here for it

Um, Joanna??? I love her??? I'm so curious to see where her character goes. Also it seems like she's one of the first non-Jewish women? (But they're not super clear on her or Tamar, so I'm curious to see how they take it

Actually I'm just here for more of the women in general

Andrew and "do not be anxious", my heart

Also (I dont remember if it was episode 1 or 2) Andrew apologising to Mary, and Mary being like "i dont know anyones ever apologised to me before" i want to cry

Judas is going to break my heart i just know it

Also knowing where its going to end up with John, but not knowing WHEN the show is going to do it... but also Jesus like 'andrew you should go now, it would be good for you' has the vibes of 'you wont be able to do it again' as unspoken

eDEN i love her so much she's actually my favourite character

Matthew and his family??? Matthews parents being at the sermon on the mount???? Did they see him? Did they notice what he was doing?? That he had other people with him?? How jesus interacted with him?? How must that have felt???
