In general up until like season 11 most of the women in the show are very one dimensional and they're often ignored until they can move along the guys plotlines. They’re also focused on a lot less. Aside from like. Carolina. The girls are all shelved over and over. Kai just got straight up removed for like 7 seasons. Comparing the girls to Redteam. Both are part of the plot but aren’t the main focus of the story, but red team gets fleshed out dynamics, diverse characters, multi faceted personalities, even Donut the guy whose personality is “gay jokes” gets hobbies and friends and interesting interactions. And the girls get. The angry one. Died to further the plot. Party girl. Hell Tex gets killed over and over to give motivation to the Churches. A lot of the depth and complexities of the girls has to be made up by the viewer. And while there are good women leaders in the show, there are like no girls who are allowed to have character development sans Carolina. They’re not allowed to make mistakes or grow from them. Their shows of emotions aren’t taken seriously by anyone around them. The girls are for the most part not allowed to be anything but perfect. When they make any mistakes they're immediately made out to be the bad guys. South is literally designed to be hated for traits that she shares with people like Sarge and Church. Ct is killed to give Wash trust issues and as a way to push her bf guys existence into the story and explain desert!ct. In general I absolutely love the girls and think they deserve better than what they got. For the person (tried to @ them but tumblr wont let me?) in the comments of one of my posts who asked me to explain why i think the way rvb women are written isn't good, thanks btw /gen. I love excuses to write out my thoughts <3

rvb is so fun bc every single character can be a blorbo. like if you ask me ill list off my top faves but give me 30 minutes to think about a character and they'll become so important to me. and because of that I can just keep cycling through characters without getting bored. by the time I go through all of them I'm in a different mindspace and will have new thoughts about them to explore

I have a very silly crack au I've been calling 'Milf Sheila au' which is pretty much just. Tex brings all the ai to bloodgulch and Sheila adopts Theta. Eventually the other ai too. Sheila, Church, and North have to figure out a split custody agreement (North argues that since Church and Sheila live together with the rest of the blues there should be a 50/50 split on time. Sheila and Church think it should be 66/33 split so they each individually get the same amount of time with Theta). When Theta is with Sheila he goes in a little rc car. Sarge keeps offering to mod the rc car and add weapons to it.

Mental image of Wash, Lina, and Tucker somehow time travelling back to pfl and lying so fucking badly when asked who they are.

Lina: I'm, uh, agent... South. Carolina. yknow. cause you guys only have one Carolina. Tucker: I'm... Puerto Rico! yeah! new state! Wash: I- uhm. I'm. Washington. DC, not state. they. ran out of states?

All the freelancers piece together what happened pretty quickly till everyone except Agent Carolina knows about the time travel. (Agent Carolina is just so fucking pissed that she has to share her title now)

Caboose is the kinda guy to own a billion different pets, many of which are rescues. You just know he has a pet tarantula that he lets free roam in Church's room (her name is fluffy and Church despises her), and a carpet python that Tucker hates ("Get your slimy fucking snake away from me!!!" "He's not slimy! Snakes don't have slime. Are you thinking about a snail maybe?"). He also has several crabs and a catfish. And his chinchilla, of course.

In a similar vein I think Doc has a pet axolotl or two.

I think if caboose was somehow transported to pfl no one would notice, they'd just direct him to wherever the triplets are and then forget about him. He's got the armour colour and the vibes. The triplets wouldnt even question the fact that they gained a fourth member.

Tex York friendship is everything to me... hes her first real friend. They trust each other. They're bros. He was the beginning of her being able to act sillyish like she does in bloodgulch. I think that after the fall of project freelancer she helped him deal with the loss of Carolina. And he helped her cut her hair and choose her own name when she decides to distance herself from Allison. I like to think that she told him everything about who she was based off and how she was created. And he assured her that she's real, she's alive, she's her own person.

Also it makes a funny dynamic with Carolina. Her boyfriend is busy having 'bro time' with the pseudo clone of her dead mom. You can bet she feels conflicted as hell about it.

Connected to this I sometimes think about when York dies in canon, Delta says "It's just part of what makes us human, Tex" he was not only expressing his own feelings of humanity but also reinforcing hers. They are human.

Suddenly remembered that the triplets, or at least Idaho and Iowa, play dnd together, specifically with Idaho as dm. Like in canon they do that. That's so fun fr.

I think the triplets have a dnd campaign with CT and Wash <3. Their games were probably put on hold after CT and Wash were moved up to the top 10... And then I think the triplets started a new campaign with Sherry's group on the ice planet <3

i think the idea of the ais appearance slowly starting to mimic their freelancers appearances in little ways is so <3333 deltas hair is slicked up at the front like yorks, thetas hair gets slight curls from north and he gets dimples from south, gamma smiles crooked like wyoming, iotas hair is tied up like carolinas, omega gets scars where tex has been 'injured', eta mimics wash as well as carolina but his eyes light up the same way hers do when she smiles, epsilons hair is messy the way washs is rather than the way churchs is. sigma doesnt get any maine traits because he rejects their bond in favour of control. theyre so fundamentally changed by those they care about that becoming one again like sigma intends could never fully work

in terms of like. red team family dynamics i feel like. lopez is sarges son. donut is his nephew (so is caboose). simmons is the neighbours kid who comes round to watch sarge fix up cars. grif is the kid who steals from sarges garden, and like sarge will shout at him but he doesnt rlly mind.

I think i would like to bundle wash up in a nice fluffy blanket and give him a hot chocolate and maybe an egg and lettuce sandwich. He deserves a long nap and some comfort. and a weighted blanket. and maybe a cat to sleep on top of him.
