Like most people Kelly also can't get over his girlfriend. Although it's been 3 years since she dumped him. His life had been a complete mess since then. As broke he was he had not more tha 2 friends Alice ( who remembers his bday and Simon who doesn't. He never received much letters . All hope he had was phone calls. The plot looks interesting in the beginning but seems depressing to me due to the broke life of Kelly. The story goes quite slow for a long time in such a way that I was thinking of giving up on it. But I didn't. The ending just amazed me. I couldn't see it coming. Being Mike Gayle's debut novel it introduced us to his cheeky style . Overall it is a light account of a hopeless man.
