I love Vega and Sora, they're so fun and cute ! Not gonna lie, Sora's power reminded me of Melinda from Ghost Whisperer (loved that series as a kid) and even her initial attitude of ignoring the ghosts is similar to what one of the characters does. I wondered if you'd seen that show and it influenced you or if it was just a coincidence ? If you haven't watched it yet, maybe it could interest you : every episode focuses on a new case and the main character builds up a group of friends with people she often interacts with during the cases, so I remember it as a pretty fun show with an interesting cast.
I never heard of that show tbh, but I'll look it up later. Sounds fun!
The trope of psychics ignoring ghosts so they aren't bothered by them isn't all that unique tbh. Sora's thing was more inspired by other stuff I've watched/read, like Mieruko-chan, Ghost Town, xxxHolic, or Mietemasuyo(I Can See You) Aizawa-san
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I highly recommend that last one btw. It's super cute and funny, the friendship among the female characters is sweet and it's gay too. About a psychic who is growing fond of the ghost of her classmate that was an up and coming idol she never talked to, but can now always see because she's haunting their classroom.

Hi! Can I request dangerous fellows with a Mieruko chan Reader? Thank you!
Dangerous Fellow with Mieruko Chan Reader
Sorry, it's taken a while to get to this ask! I took a small break from Tumblr, and before writing this one I watched a few episodes of Mieruko Chan to try to understand her character a bit better! I hope you like this one! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Sue:
-Sue is one of those people who do not believe in the paranormal or anything like that. If you did tell her, it'd be really hard for her to believe you.
-She finds you crazy when you start asking her for book recommendations on the paranormal. I mean, you're living in a small school with a bunch of people who sometimes can't even keep a level head, and now you're worried about the paranormal?
-She only starts to really believe you when you stare off into the distance or randomly tear up.
It was later in the day, and Lawrence had assigned the two a patrol on the first floor. Sue didn't think this patrol would last too long, after all the zombies had seemed to be focused on something else. And you just wanted to rest more than anything. With the zombie apocalypse, it brought a lot more spirits into this world so now you see them more frequently. And their appearance got even worse. You didn't believe it was possible until now...
You looked around the small hallway, but your eyes stopped on a large figure down the hallway. Its eyes a completely black with only a single white dot to represent its pupil. Its entire stomach was ripped open, and the organs were missing entirely. It's jaw elongated and reaching the floor.
You felt your eyes tear up as you saw it. "Y/N? What are you looking at?" Sue grumbled as she walked over. "There's nothing there. It's a wall. So you better have a good excuse to wha-" Sue spoke up, but was suddenly cut off by the lights flickering. And for once... Sue saw a glimpse of the creature running off into the distance.
Her eyes widened as she dropped the thing she was holding. "W-Wait, did you... Did you see it??" You spoke quickly. Your panicked, tear-filled eyes looked in her direction. She looked just as panicked as you did if not more. "What... What the hell was that?" Sue whispered. Her head snapped in her direction as she grabbed your shoulders tightly.
"Don't... Don't tell me that's the things you've been seeing." Her voice was trembling. It was odd to see Sue trembling and afraid like you. She was usually one of the strongest ones in the group. You nodded slowly. "I-I'm afraid so..." You whispered. "Although... They all look different." You added on. You yelped in surprise as Sue hugged you tightly. "God, I'm so sorry for not believing you sooner... You're not one to lie very often." She spoke softly. "I know a few books we can look at, and if it hasn't been robbed... There is a shop nearby that may have some crosses or prayer beads to help." She whispered.
Ethan:
-Ethan had become a quiet person when the whole thing started. He had lost a lot of his friends, and he could no longer do the things he liked.
-You were one of the lucky few who he talked to and offered little gifts like chocolate.
-He noticed from the very beginning something was off with you. At first, it made him quite skeptical of you. Were you bit? Or was it something else? Either way, he came to trust you. So feel grateful!
-He tried to get you to tell him what was wrong when you'd suddenly zone out or would be hesitant to do something. But he knew he couldn't force you to say anything, so little things like chocolate or compliments were things he gave you so you'd hopefully feel better.
Out of all the statistical questions and percentages, nothing could've really calculated the situation you and Ethan were in. It had started to rain, and so now both of you were cold and there were zombies trying to get in.
You could see many spirits mingled with them. Although you didn't think these spirits could harm you, it was difficult to tell which one was a spirit and which one was a zombie. So when one of those... Things got in, and you reacted quickly. You grabbed Ethan's hand and started running with him. "Hey! What was that for!? Slow down!" Ethan spoke up. He was confused as to why you'd suddenly forced him to run with you. The zombies were still outside, but you looked like you had just seen a ghost...
And finally, when you ran into a room you let his hand go and locked the door. Ethan was surprised as he noticed the tears in your eyes. "Uh... Is... Is everything alright?" Ethan spoke. Comforting was not his strong suit, so he had no idea how to help you. He watched you slide down the door. "...That wasn't a zombie, was it?" You spoke shakily.
Ethan's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "What wasn't a zombie? I didn't see anything." He inquired. "...Ethan..." You whispered. "I... I don't know how to even explain this, or... Or..." You spoke but stopped. You sighed. "...I see things that aren't there. Dead people..." She whispered.
Ethan blinked a few times, clearly confused. "You... What?" He inquired. He watched you rest your head on your hand. "...I see spirits. I-I don't know why, but they're almost always there..." You whispered. "...What did this one look like?" Ethan felt like it was far-fetched, but he had to know what it was you were seeing. Because either way he knew it was freaking you out too much.
"...T-This one had half a face. I-it was so tall... It looked like it was rotting like those zombies a-and with the darkness, I must've mistaken it..." You whispered. Ethan was so surprised to hear this description. It sounded so much more real and... Horrible than he'd imagined.
He didn't really believe it was a spirit though, and figured it may have just been... Something like schizophrenia... "I-I see... Well, I promise it won't hurt either of us. We're okay." He kneeled next to you. He decided that the only option he had was to try to figure out how he could help you deal with these things. To him, it was still a mental condition, so he was going to help you find some medication or something... He was going to help you.
Zion:
-Zion had heard you mention something about paranormal stuff, and honestly he found the whole thing stupid. Zombies were one thing, but ghosts? Weird demons? Yeah no.
-When he first heard it he was quite rude to you. There was no way in hell he was going to believe that. But as he got closer to you, and got to know you more... He knew something was wrong. He couldn't quite tell what it was, but something was wrong.
-He saw you become quite and space out a lot. It worried him greatly, as whatever you said you saw freaked you out. So he decided to help you look for something to fix whatever was going on.
-He may not believe you see ghosts, but he's still worried about you. What if you get hurt because of something you think is there? He would lose a close friend, after all.
Zion was never a fan of going to the library. I mean, why read books when you could read on your phone? And also, who even liked to read books? At least... That's what he used to think. When the apocalypse started, they couldn't really read on a cell phone. And everything else was either too loud to use for entertainment, or too risky.
So he begrudgingly started to read. And when he found out your little predicament, well he'd never admit it but he ended up looking for books that could help you. Which is why you're here now. Your eyes were scanning over every hardback book cover and every word. You needed to see if there was something you could find. Maybe you were insane?
But if so... What should you do? You needed to find at least some clue on how to handle this... "Yo, I think I found something that might help," Zion spoke up. You looked over, and saw h I'm holding up an old encylepedia.
It looked... Extremely old. And the cover of the book was really odd. "Uh... Are you sure that'll help?" You questioned hesitantly as you walked over. "Well, it's weird looking... And whatever supposed paranormal things exist always look weird and witchy." Zion pointed out as he handed you the book.
You froze as you noticed a hand holding onto it that was a spirit's. "Uh... Could you... Perhaps open it for me?" You inquired softly. Zion groaned as he rolled his eyes. "Don't tell me it's one of those things." He spoke. He sighed, before opening the book. "I swear to god if we can't find something in this library, I'm going to loose it." He growled.
You looked down at the pages. "I'm... Sorry." You spoke softly. A silence covered the cold room except for some sounds of a breeze. "...Why are you apologizing? I'm not mad at you, just... Whatever is happening to you is stressing me out... I can't help you because I can't see what you are seeing." He spoke with a sigh. You gave him a gentle smile. "I'm grateful you're trying. And maybe someday we'll figure this out, and then... We can get rid of it." You tried to reassure the redette. He sighed, before giving you one of his signature grins. "Yeah. Who am I kidding!? We're going to get this thing beat!" He spoke. There's the Zion you knew.
Judy:
-Judy believes you through and through.
-She knew you when you both were younger, so she saw what happened when it started. She saw how much you had changed, and how nothing worked.
-She's been nothing but supportive and worries about you constantly.
After a long day of work around the school it was time to go to sleep. So here you were laying in bed and staring off outside the window. You had seen a lot of horrible things that day and so you were just so stressed. You knew you weren't going to be able to sleep at all. I mean, how could you? Zombies outside, spirits inside and everywhere else... Plus what kind of nightmare would you have that night? You couldn't tell.
Your eyes glanced around the old classroom and landed on a creature in the corner. You sighed shakily as you turned away from it and hoped it would go away. Of course... It didn't. You heard its gross sounds as it walked over to where you and Judy lay. You could feel your eyes tear up as you tried to block out the sounds it made, or the fear you felt as it leaned over you and muttered something about how you could see it.
"Y/N? Is it... One of those nights again?" Judy spoke softly as she looked at you. She saw you nod slowly, which made her sigh. She moved closer to you and brought you into a hug and made sure you couldn't see whatever monster was creeping over your shoulder. "I'm so sorry, Y/n... We'll get through this together! Just you and me like it's always been!" She tried to reassure them.
"And whatever is looking over your shoulder is just a creep. It can't do anything to you, even if it wanted to!" She added on. Judy was one of the best people you knew. She was so sweet and was one of the few people who ever believed you. She was the only one who helped you try to get through these nights and the horrible sights you saw constantly. A soft smile formed on your face as you closed your eyes. "Y-Yeah. You're right. And maybe... Maybe tomorrow will be a better day." You tried to reason. Judy nodded. "Of course, it will! Because we'll make it a great day! And soon when this whole apocalypse is over, we'll go back to doing our normal things I promise!" You don't know what you'd do without her...
Hailey:
-Hailey was spooked when she saw you zone off into nothing. How could you remain so unaware of your surroundings?? And why did you seem so scared of something else??
-She believed heavily in the paranormal and has always been terrified of it.
-Back before this whole shit show started, she had avoided horror movies and books. They scared her too badly...
-Honestly, if you want to keep Hailey as a friend or lover... You should never tell her the things you see.
It was around dinner time if you could even call it that... So you were sitting at the table with the others and eating some chips. For once your favorite brand was there, so you thought everything was going good. Until you saw one of those... Creatures poke their head through the glass.
You stared at it intently, trying to figure out what to do. No one else could see it, and it looked so... Inhuman. You were scared to look away because what if it attacked you? What if it attacked those you cared for? No, you'd just have to deal with it until it got bored and wandered away...
You tried to keep quiet and still as the creature walked up to you. It was babbling about how hungry it was, and how tasty you looked... "Y-Y/N? A-Are you alright?" Hailey spoke up shakily. It was quite easy to tell she was already spooked with you staring at nothing. You looked away from the spirit and towards here. "Yeah. I'm fine. I just... I didn't get much sleep last night, I'm sorry." You apologized. You stayed still as the creature shoved its face near yours, its grotesque eye staring right at you. "O-Oh. I see. P-Please be careful." She spoke softly. You nodded, as you kept quiet about the whole thing in front of me. Maybe sometime you would be able to tell her, but right now was not the time...
Eugene:
-Eugene was one of those people who didn't believe you at first, but unlike Sue and Zion, he did believe in the paranormal. Although.. He'd never admit it face to face.
-He laughed like crazy at you when you first told him. He straight-up said you were full of shit.
-Not the nicest of people when it comes to stuff like this, but... Forgive him. He's our Tsundere.
"So uh... You see any cool spirits lately?" Eugene spoke up. You two were walking back to the school after a successful scavenging. You sighed. "For the last time, I told you there are no cool spirits." You huffed. "Oh, come on! There at least has to be something cool!" He stated. "In books there are angels, there are demons, wanderers, oh, and animals! Have you seen animal spirits yet??" He inquired curiously. "I have, yes. Cats only, though." You responded. "Well better than nothing I suppose..." He grumbled to himself. He looked over as suddenly some of the lights went out from some street lamps. "Huh. Looks like the power finally wen-Holy shit!" Eugene exclaimed when he looked at the light. There was a creature crawling over there and was playing with the light bulb. He didn't protest as you grabbed his hand and yanked him away. "I-Is that what you see?" He spoke softly. "...Part of it, yes." You responded. "...I am so sorry for doubting you, holy shit." He spoke softly. "No, it's okay Eugene. I wouldn't believe someone either if they told me that." She responded.
Scarlett:
-Ghosts? Please. Are we little kids now where we hide under our beds from them? Least to say she thinks you're crazy and childish.
-She'll gossip about you like crazy. No buts about it.
-If she gets close to you, then maybe she'll listen a bit more, but you're still childish to her.
It was late at night and Scarlett was sitting in her room. She was writing some things down, chuckling to herself as she thought about how stupid it was. She had heard you mention seeing something in her room and she found it so stupid. How could you seriously believe something like that???
It made no sense to her. She stopped writing altogether as she couldn't contain her laughter which made writing harder. She stopped laughing and groaned as her pen rolled off of her leg, and made a small sound as it dropped to the floor and rolled away. "Ugh. Stupid pen..." She grumbled.
She got off of the chair she was sitting on and crawled over to get her pen. "This floor is so nasty..." She huffed to herself as she got ahold of her pen. She froze as some weird water dripped to the ground. She slowly looked up and a scream left her lips as she backed away and dropped the pen again.
There was a grotesque monster in her room... It had many different legs, and more than one eye, and overall was the worst thing she had ever seen. She got up quickly and rushed out of her room and at this point was crying. She pushed past Zion and anyone she ran past until she made it to your room. You looked up as your door was thrown open, and a small yelp left your lips as she hugged you. She was... Sobbing. "What happened???" You inquired. "I-I'm so sorry I didn't believe you before... There was... There was a monster in my room. It looked like it was going to eat me!" She cried out. You sighed softly, as you comforted her. "It's okay... It'll be gone sooner than tomorrow, I promise..." You spoke. Let's just say you spent the night comforting her.
Jay:
-Doesn't believe you one bit.
-He finds you even more suspicious when he hears about it. He questions you and then calls you dumb for believing such a lie.
Harry:
-At first you were hesitant to go to him because of his headaches, which worried Harry. At one point he finally just walked over to you to chat.
-He'd feel horrible he couldn't help you sooner. It's hard to say if he believes you, but you're still someone he cares deeply for (And likes romantically) so he trusts you with his life. And he hopes you do the same.
-I believe this man would have you be around him as much as possible. He just wants you to be okay.
It was a late night, and you were just tired and upset. You had seen so many horrible creatures that day, and all you wanted to do was go to bed. But you couldn't because of some... Creature in your room. Your eyes were filled with tears as you just wanted to not see any of these things anymore.
They horrified you; they scared you. And as you debated your options on who you could go to for help, you decided on Harry. You knew he was a good person, and you knew he wouldn't be mad. Sure you'd feel bad, but you just needed some help.
So you gently knocked on his door and when he said to come in you did. "Harry...?" You spoke softly. Harry looked up slowly, and his eyes widened. "Y/N... You're crying." He spoke in a worried tone as he got up. He rushed over to you. "You aren't hurt, are you??" He questioned gently.
You shook your head. "...I'm tired, Harry." You whispered. He tilted his head. "Tired? Tired of what? Are you alright? Do you need anything?" He spoke gently. "...I'm tired of seeing them. These... These things, these demons... These spirits, whatever you want to call them... They bother me all the time, and I'm so tired of it..." You whispered as tears fell down your face.
His eyes widened in surprise, but he didn't question anymore. "It's okay... None of them can hurt you, I promise. None of us will let that happen." He spoke softly as he led you to his bed where he had you sit down. "How about you stay with me tonight? I'm really worried about you, Y/N." Harry spoke.
You sniffled as you shook your head. "I don't want to bother you, Harry... You already have your own problems..." You pointed out softly. He huffed. "Everyone does. It doesn't mean you should keep yours hidden and not accept any help. I promise you it's okay. I want you to be okay." He spoke softly. "Do you need anything? Water?" He inquired. You shook your head. "N-No... But thank you. And... And I suppose I'll take you up on that offer." You spoke softly. And you did just that. Harry watched over you the whole night and made sure you couldn't see any monsters that night.
Lawrence:
-When you first met Lawrence, you knew something was off...
-He had many dark shadows around him, some that seemed... familiar. He had an unstable aura around him, and it was concerning.
-He'd notice instantly you saw something. The way you reacted, it just wasn't normal... He was going to find out what you saw...
The whole meeting you watched those shadows that clouded over him. Each one demanding death, or to just "take her now." Although you had no idea what in the world that meant... Not many people had that many shadows attached to them, unless they were bad people. There was no way Lawrence could be, right...? He let you in the group, he watched over you, he did so much for you and the others... He couldn't possibly be.
When the meeting finally came to and end, and the others left, you stood up to leave as well. "Hey Sylvia?" Lawrence spoke up. You froze for a minute as you slowly looked over. "Y-Yes? What is it?" You inquired. "I would like to have a word with you if you're not busy," Lawrence spoke as he walked over.
"N-No... No, I'm not. What's up?" You spoke. You tried to keep a calm head. "You seemed oddly distracted during the meeting. Is everything alright?" He inquired. "Ah... Yeah. Everything's fine. I just... I had a hard time sleeping last night." You were partially true. A monster had resided in your room the whole night begging for flesh, so you didn't get that much sleep.
Although it was a lie for the reason you were distracted. You couldn't help but feel nervous as you saw his eyes narrow. "Hm... It seems to be more than that. You can trust me, you know that right?" He inquired. "after all, we're all teammates. Unless... You don't trust me, or the others?" He spoke.
He was trying to be manipulative to make you talk to him. "A-Ah... It's... Not that." You said. You fell for his trap... "I just... Would you find me crazy if I said I saw things? That wasn't there to most?" You spoke softly. He gave you an eerie smile. "Oh. Not at all. I used to be like that." He spoke up as he walked over. Your eyes widened.
"Y-You did??? How that change??" You inquired. "Well, my dear Y/N, you have to stop believing. In other things at that. And I mean truly believe it. Convince yourself the things you see are not real." He spoke up. He knew now you could see the people he'd killed who were attached to him. Although you didn't know he did kill them. So he had to change that. "I can help you so you feel better." He suggested. You smiled gratefully. "That would be... Amazing." You agreed. He was going to make sure you never knew what happened to people who interfered with you both... After all, you are his.
Okay!! I Finally finished that! I think from now on I'd prefer if you guys could tell me if you want side characters or main characters. If you want both that's cool too! Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed it, and I hope I did well in your request!

Mieruko-chan

She can see dead people…she just chooses to ignore them. That’s Miko’s plan, anyway, but it doesn’t seem to be working for her in this love letter to the horror genre that will send shivers down your spine—and occasionally tickle your funny bone.

I did a vampire-themed review earlier in October in lieu of Halloween, but I was thinking, "why not another one?"
Tumblr media
(GIF Source: GIFSEC thru' Google Image Search)
But this time, it is gonna be a generic Halloween-related theme, meaning that instead of purely vampires, I am including, ghosts, horror and the like... you get the gist.
As usual, 🚨SPOILERS🚨
1️⃣ Vampire Knight
Tumblr media
(Picture Source: Crunchyroll thru' Google Image Search)
This was one of the most popular anime back in those days. Every girl who watches this were fawning over Zero and Kaname... It was practically a Team Edward and Team Jacob situation again...
Anyway, this anime talks about Yuki, the main female protagonist, who is living in this school that on the surface, is an ordinary school for students to enroll. The secret that this school keeps, is that there are night classes held specifically for a special group of students. And those students are vampires.
Yuki, along with Zero, are the only students in the day-time student population privy to that information. Together with the teachers of the school, they help to keep this secret, and also prevent any harm from falling onto the day-time students.
This anime was really well written and my sister enjoyed it a lot that she even got the light novel of it. Mind you, my sister doesn't watch a lot of anime like I do, and though she does read, she doesn't read as much as I do too... Her anime knowledge comparing to mine is not even a quarter. So, for her to like this anime and get the light novel is saying something.
The ending can be disappointing, especially for Team Zero fans, but thinking about it now, it only made sense... Yep, anyway, have a go at this anime, it's really good and highly recommended :3
Rating: 9⭐/10
2️⃣ Ajin: Demi-Human
Tumblr media
(Picture Source: Netflix Wiki Fandom thru' Google Image Search)
For the life of me, I have really no idea what is going on... it looks like horror, but not really horror, and it's just manifesting some weird-ass black looking thing... yeah... I really have no idea what is going on...
You could say... to some extent, that it is like Tokyo Ghoul. A city full of ghouls secretly living among the humans. And the government secretly created a team of ghouls to help manage the ghoul population. For Ajin, it is kinda in the similar vein.
The animation of it is quite unique, like watching a game being developed in play. If that is not your thing but you still want to watch this, then I would recommend the manga instead. But even the manga is confusing for me... 🥲
The show received positive ratings across multiple platforms. So I guess it's worth the watch? I personally don't really like it that much which is why I don't have much to talk about this. But, hey, don't let me stop you from trying this 😉
Rating: 6⭐/10
TLDR: Confusing, not sure what is going on... Probably it's me...
3️⃣ Death Parade
Tumblr media
(Picture Source: Crunchyroll thru' Google Image Search)
This show practically talks about this afterlife world where departed souls come to get judged. However, the departed souls has no memories of their lives. In this afterlife world, the... I have no idea what they are called... Reaper? Bartender?
Reaper Bartender Judge?
Whatever... those guys will judge your souls by observing a game played between the souls. If you are the only soul there, then they will join the game to make up the numbers. So, the game will help the souls relive their memories of their lives and this allows those judging bartender reapers to see and make the decision whether the souls are good or bad. If they are good, they get to reincarnate; if they are bad, then they go to the void and cease to exist again.
It is quite an interesting concept and the anime does not fail. I have to say though, that it can get violent, but it is a natural human reaction. Some of the games can be very violent, but there are very relaxing ones too. It is a 12-episode series but it is very interesting.
Rating: 8⭐/10
4️⃣ Mieruko-chan
Tumblr media
(Picture Source: Mieruko-chan Wiki Fandom thru' Google Image Search)
🚨WARNING🚨: DO NOT watch this anime while eating. SERIOUS. I MEAN IT.
The reason being... you can try Googling yourself and you will know what I mean. Some of you may be okay with it, but others may not be. I wasn't prepared and I almost puked my food out.
Anyway, this anime talks about the main protagonist, Miko, who suddenly one day can see the spirits. And the spirits are not like your Hanako from Jibaku Shounen. These spirits are gory and, as mentioned earlier, could make you puke your food out. It seriously makes Junji Ito's horror manga look more like rainbow and sunshines...
I digress. So, Miko, who could suddenly see these gory spirits, had to work extremely hard to ignore them on a daily basis. It's not easy because she sometimes have to put up with the spirits wrapping themselves around her, or even walk through them so as to not draw attention to herself and place herself in danger.
To be extremely honest, the arc which the anime covers isn't really interesting... but important for what comes next. I am following the manga closely and two things comes to mind with the current addition of a new character, what is going to happen and will Miko finally stop seeing spirits?
Anyway, have a go at it but remember, DON'T EAT YOUR FOOD WHILE WATCHING THIS.
Rating: 7⭐/10
TLDR: Gory level - no food allowed when watching this. Can be a bit boring but important for the story later... if it ever comes out a season 2...

I've been reading Bleach recently, after a certain professional shitbag recommended it. I'm only a dozen chapters in, but I have some thoughts.
First: If you've been reading my posts talking about new Shonen Jump series, I am sorry. But also, the thing I keep talking about is pacing. Shonen Jump titles are under a lot of pressure to perform well out of the gate; this means most of them cram as much of their premise and ideas into chapter 1, getting to "the good part" ASAP without having time to lay any groundwork for it.
Bleach isn't like that. Basic story facts are scattered throughout the first volume or so, giving more room for the characters and such to breathe. I dunno if Jump worked differently twenty years ago, or if Tite Kubo was more confident in his writing speaking for itself, or what, but I appreciate it.
Second: Maybe it's just that I binged Mieruko-chan earlier this week, but it feels like Ichigo seeing (normal) ghosts should come up more than it does. There aren't anywhere near as many ghosts around in Ichigo's world as Miko's, and they're a lot nicer (except the Hollows), but still.
Third: I was expecting the fact that Ichigo's physical body stays behind, unconscious, when he astrally projects or whatever to fight Hollows was just a handy plot excuse. A reason for Ichigo's broad-daylight swordfights to not be noticed, that would come up for the occasional gag or when it's convenient to the plot, but mostly be forgotten.
But nope! Characters have reacted to Ichigo going unconscious both times (so far) he's projected while outside his house—nothing plot-altering, but enough to make the characters feel like they notice the weird things he's doing and react to them.
Fourth: When Ichigo finds out Hollows used to be human (um, spoilers for chapter 3/episode 2 of Bleach I guess?), he's mad at Rukia for not telling him this, but doesn't really angst about having to kill ex-humans. He talks at them a normal shonen manga amount, but that's about all he does differently when he learns that his enemies used to be human. That feels like something that most series would give more focus (and angst) than it really deserves.
Fifth: There are a lot of nice little moments. Rukia stealing Ichigo's sisters clothes because she didn't pack anything for her not-so-brief trip to the mortal world. Orihime talking with her ex-brother. Rukia not knowing how juice boxes work. Some random guy getting mad at Ichigo for "copying his look," but nothing really comes of it; it's just a school Ichigo's been going to and has a history at. Rukia failing to comfort the dead kid in a parakeet, this makes sense in context.
Maybe this is just reiterating the pacing thing I started with, but...it's nice that there's space for things that don't really do anything except establish characters and tone. Also, I think Rukia's my favorite character.
Speaking of which, sixth: I kinda wish Rukia kept a bit more of her power. At the moment, it feels like she's basically only useful for spiritual cleanup and occasionally not dying long enough for Ichigo to show up. When she said she could only use a few Kidō spells, I thought that meant she'd use them to back up Ichigo in combat. But no, she's limited to a pretty normal level of physical abilities and some spells that don't do much.
Now, it could be a lot worse. Rukia refuses to be damseled, and the fight scene where she and one of Ichigo's mundane classmates work together to stall the Hollow proves that just because a character isn't as strong as Ichigo doesn't mean they won't get awesome moments. But it's still kinda disappointing.
I'm not saying Rukia should be as strong as Ichigo, mind. Rukia losing almost all her reaper power to Ichigo is the inciting incident, that's fine. I just wish she kept, like, 5% instead of 1%. Enough to keep some cool fight powers.
She's probably getting some power-up sooner or later, probably shouldn't complain too much. Anyways, that's six things I thought about in Bleach that I felt like sharing.

hey dizzy! how have you been?
Tumblr media
question for you- give me some anime recommendations? ive watched quite a few- and by that i mean... quite a lot- but that aside i would love to watch some shows that are more to your tastes!! ⋆。°✩
I don't actually really watch shows much anymore but here's some stuff I remember being good or liked the manga of! I had a list of watched and to-watch stuff left around ehe
I lean towards slice of life and romance
Tumblr media
-Madoka Magica is a magical girl genre subversion that's actually done pretty well and, while dark, isn't overly edgy for the sake of subverting the genre. A bunch of girls become magical girls and then suffer a lot, that's pretty much the premise. They took a lot of freedom when designing the labyrinths and the art always looks really neat in those areas. The characters are great
-Yuki Yuna is a Hero is another magical girl show, with a happier tone than Madoka, though it still has some pretty dark elements. Has a loveable cast but mild fanservice
-Zombie Land Saga is an over the top comedy where a zombie apocalypse and idol anime are mixed into one. A girl dies but she gets resurrected by an eccentric man who wants to start a zombie pop Idol group. This show is absurd in the best of ways. Has typical levels of blood and violence for a zombie anime
-Chunibyo, (sometimes spelled Chuunibyou) Love, and Other Delusions is a romance anime, but it also gives plenty of focus on the characters' friends outside the relationship and everyone just hanging out. It's about a group of highschoolers who think they have magical powers (when they are, in fact, completely normal) and about two of them falling in love over the course of the series. It's a fun lighthearted experience with some great characters. There's very mild fan service in the first couple of episodes while one character has a crush on another but it dies down fast. One thing I liked was the pacing of the romance, they didn't rush a confession or drag it out over the whole show and it was refreshing to see
-From the name, Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie sounds like it's going to be another bad shounen romance where none of the characters have a personality, but it manages to pull through with a really sweet duo of characters. The perspective character is pretty unique among romance animes as well. It's a cute story about an absolute sweetheart of a boy and his badass girlfriend. They start the series already in a relationship so there's once again no drawing out the lead up to a confession.
-Hanakokun is also quite good but given the fact that I'm pretty sure you've mentioned it on your blog I won't elaborate ☆
Stuff I thought was pretty alright:
-in Mieruko-chan a girl starts seeing ghosts and decides to just ignore them since she can't do anything about them. Has a lot of fanservice :/
-in Squid Girl a squid monster comes from the sea to get revenge on humanity for ocean pollution. She's really bad at this and winds up working at a beachside restaurant instead
-Talentless Nana has a really great first episode and the rest of the series gets kind of lame with some smug attempts at writing really smart conflicts comparable to Death Note. An island where teenagers with magic powers called talents train to battle the enemies of humanity
Stuff I had my eye on or heard abt but never got around to so can't attest to the quality of:
-22/7: an idol anime I've heard has good characters
-The Little Lies We All Tell: An alien, a ninja, a girl with superpowers, and an ordinary human boy all pretend to be normal highschool girls at an all-girls school. They all become friends
-Asteroid in Love: Really cute looking slice of life about a school's earth science club (which is a fusion of the school's geology club and astronomy club)
-Do It Yourself: Slice of life with a nice art style about a craft club
-Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove it: After falling in love, two overly logical people insist on trying to somehow prove love as a scientific concept because they believe love to be irrational but can't accept the notion that they are at all irrational
-HaNaYaMaTa: A slice of life around a group of yosakoi dancers
-Our love has always been 10 centimeters apart: simple, cute looking romance anime

Yuria is determined to get Miko back for embarrassing her and takes her and Hana to a haunted tunnel. Unable to see as much as Miko, she misconstrues the events that unfold, but at least she has some friends now! (via Mieruko-chan (Episode 7) – Did You See That?)

"Maybe her brain trained her to view ghost encounters as a form of reversed social etiquette. So that she would abide by the rules with ease, even without the stakes of her life on the line. Just be polite and respectful, not by acknowledging them, but to completely ignore their existence. "
AU where Miko had seen the ghosts before the event of the first manga chapter/anime episode.

👻Mieruko-chan Review!👻
Hello, and welcome to a new anime review! Today, I'm tackling Mieruko-chan, a horror anime!
Tumblr media
Mieruko-chan is an anime/comedy anime that aired in 2021. It has twelve episodes, and features supernatural elements in a school environment.
To be very honest, I found this anime to be really average. Nothing about it stands out as great, though it's true that nothing about it sucks, either.
The plot is not that interesting but it's not bad, per se. I found out that many horror animes have simple plots and rely on scaring the viewer. However, Mieruko-chan isn't scary! That makes it a little hollow.
It's clear the story needs a sequel, but for now, it's still incomplete and doesn't really have any highlights. At least, it's easy to follow, so you probably won't get lost.
Then, none of the characters are really all that great, either. The protagonist has a bland personality, her sidekick is the usual "dumb + big boobs" combo, and the third member of the main trio is a brat. Luckily, a fourth character kind of redeems it with a nice plot twist.
Character development isn't much of a thing since the protagonist doesn't change. The story progresses, but she doesn't. The dynamics are somewhat entertaining, although nothing to put in the record books.
For all its flaws, this anime looks beautiful. The animation is clean, and for recent standards, it's above average. Musically, it's alright. The opening is extremely catchy (and somewhat misleading, haha).
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this anime if you're not into horror. It's not scary, but if you don't like ghost stories, you'll get bored. Again, I found it very average, but perhaps you'll like it more!
Down below is the tierlist for the characters! Thank you for reading this review!

Get to know me better meme:
Tagged by @hirazuki (yay!)
Favourite color: green, orange
Currently reading: Oh man - when it comes to books I'm currently reading (slowly) Dan Simmons' Hyperion series, currently on book 2. I doubt anything's gonna top book 1, but so far so good. Manga wise I'm following One Piece and One Punch Man and also Land of the Lustrous (it's returned from almost 2 year long hiatus at last!); To you the Immortal (out of habit, my interest in the series has waned considerably from the moment the author has decided on the modern/highschool arc.) A must mention for a less popular series is Mieruko-chan - it got an anime recently, but the few stills/gifs I've seen made me not want to touch it. It doesn't do the art in the manga justice. (Though I get it, it's mostly impossible to animate horror cheaply and let it be still effective.) But few series make me stare for a few minutes at the art on the page, and the same scenes I've seen animated were laughable in comparison. Mieruko-chan is a horror/supernatural/comedy/general mix that also made me cry a few times. Unfortunately also once-a-month schedule. :'(
Recently I also took to webcomics, though I'm at the point where I feel like I've oversaturated my brain. It's almost impossible for me to find one that wouldn't break my suspension of disbelief or annoyed me after a few chapters now.
Last series I watched: I'm currently watching the Orville; when it comes to anime I watched Ranking of Kings (lost interest before finishing all episodes) and The Legend of Vox Machina
Last movie I watched: The Batman with Robert Pattinson (liked it a lot)
Currently working on: Second Elden Ring playthrough...I should be done in a week or two. After that I'd done with the game until DLCs drop. Seriously, as much as I love ER it's Too Long for the amount of free time I have to play it. :')

2023 Anime Year Review!
Tumblr media
Happy New Year! I'm gonna start by doing my best to list all the anime I watched this year. I felt like putting them in alphabetical order, so I did.
The anime I watched in 2023 are: Attack on Titan Final Season, Buddy Daddies, Crash Course in Naughtness, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc, Don't Toy with Me Miss Nagatoro 2nd Attack, Dr. Stone: New World, Frieren Beyond Journey’s End, Helck, Hell's Paradise, Jigokuraku, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, Mashle: Magic and Muscles, My New Boss Is Goofy, My Hero Academy, Ranking of Kings: The Treasure Chest of Courage, Reborn as a Vending Machine I Now Wander the Dungeon, Spy x Family Season 2, Tomo-chan Is a Girl!, Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead.
For manga I have been keeping up with Bocchi the Rock, Bocchi the Rock Hiroi’s story, Call of the Night, Chainsaw Man, Demon Girl Next Door, Don’t Mess With Me Nagatoro, Mieruko-san, and Shimeji Simulation.
Now I'll be giving some thoughts on the year as a whole and mentioning specific ones in categories. There will be no spoilers.
It definitely looks like a lot, but I know I have watched more in the past. It's tougher finding as much time for anime now, but I desire to give more new shows a shot in 2024 like I usually would. There are a lot of sequels that I watched this year! The new shows were pretty good, with most of them fitting into the realm of being pretty good but not extraordinary. While the continuations on the other end had a lot more extremes, with most of the mainstream shows fitting into the realm of having moments I really liked in between stuff that was lukewarm or frustrating.
My single favorite is Dr. Stone: New World. Dr Stone continues to be very consistent and have a bit of everything, providing good visuals, fun characters, and interesting applications of science. This season really stepped it up when it came to the story. The climax of this season is the best I've seen this year. It really keeps up the intensity and leaves you guessing what happens next. It got me very excited for what’s next. It’s great on all fronts.
Most underrated I would give to Reborn as a Vending Machine. I think it's very solid and on the better end of isekai shows. It’s truly a unique premise and worth checking out if you like fantasy and slice of life shows.
Biggest surprise hit I would go with Mashle. I had not heard of it before this and went into it just thinking it was going to make fun of Harry Potter over and feel like a rehash of One Punch. I figured I’d enjoy a few episodes then drop it when the schtick got old. But it's genuinely funny outside of its magic parody, and does do some genuinely cool magic stuff at the same time. I liked it a lot more than I expected to.
Biggest disappointment I will give to both Demon Slayer Swordsmith Village Arc and Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, specifically the Shibuya Incident Arc (yes they are the same season but they are fundamentally separated in the story and in release). Reason being that their issues are very similar. They both have some really cool moments that are surrounded by boring and frustrating shonen action style tropes. Such as dragging fights out dialogue and flashbacks, emotion baiting, and convenient power ups that don’t feel satisfying or earned. Both of the primary villains in these arcs are not very interesting to me. Neither of these shows are terrible, as they still had the core aspects that made me like them initially. But for me they have many disappointing and frustrating aspects.
What new shows I’m looking forward to in 2024 as of now: Mashle season 2, Dungeon Meshi, Konosuba season 3, My Hero Academia Season 7, Yuru Camp season 3, Sound! Euphonium 3, Solo Leveling, and the new Spice and Wolf. I do want to watch some anime in 2024 that have been on my list, which are the following: Baki, Honey and Clover, and Chihayafuru at least. Baki I know is super fun and super up my alley. Honey and Clover is by the same author as March Comes in Like a Lion (one of my favorite anime), which is enough for me to watch. Chihayafuru comes highly recommended, and from what I know I am confident I will enjoy it. I've wanted to watch these for a while but with following the seasonals it's hard to get to them.
One anime I’m still holding out hope for is Dorohedoro season 2. I do still think we will eventually get it, but I really hope it's soon. An announcement in 2024 would be SHOCKINGly lovely. Another announcement I'd love would be an anime adaptation of Shimeji Simulation. The manga just recently ended and is very good (a post on that is coming soon).
I really enjoyed this year of anime and manga! I hope you did as well and are looking forward to next year as much as me! I'd also like to mention that I started blogging about anime this year and have really enjoyed doing it! I plan to continue to please stick around! Thank you for reading!
