what  a  bliss,  to  be  beside  someone  who  sees  beyond  the  external  appearance.  he  sees  right  through  her.  or  perhaps,  she  has  lowered  her  guard  on  purpose.  letting  someone  in  was  always  the  hardest  part.  but  barbie  learned  that  she  could  trust  some  individuals.  it’s  true  what  they  say  —  trust  is  either  earned  or  given  freely.  only  that  she  did  both,  simultaneously.  ceruleans  stare  at  her  own  reflection  in  the  mirror  as  she  made  the  last  touch  ups.  perfection  was  achieved  through  hard  labor,  that  much  she  knew.  seemingly  in  a  trance,  trying  to  pick  out  any  flaw  that  wasn’t  apparent  in  the  first  place.  if  one’s  broken  on  the  inside,  the  least  they  can  do  is  look  perfect  on  the  outside.  it  was  his  voice  that  brought  her  back  to  reality,  shattering  the  illusion  she’s  drawn  herself.  cue  a  twirl,  breaking  all  contact  with  that  damned  mirror,  now  gazing  at  teddy.  with  swift  motions  towards  him,  she  found  herself  standing  right  in  front  of  teddy.  head  slanted  to  the  side  as  she  sways  in  her  place,  all  attention  focused  on  him.  ❝  ask  me  …  what  exactly?  ❞    honey  dripped  tone  as  she  queried,  admittedly  bewildered  by  what  he  meant.  a  soft  chuckle  passed  pink  lips  as  she  sketched  a  smile.  barbie  was  on  edge,  curiosity  taking  toll  over  her  frame.  with  each  second  growing  more  and  more  impatient.    ❝  c’mon  it’s  not  nice  to  keep  a  gal  waiting!  ❞    she  uttered,  in  a  feeble  attempt  at  calming  her  own  nerves.  something  about  the  unknown  terrified  the  living  hell  out  of  her,  though  she’d  never  admit  it  out  loud.

it's been a few weeks since jessie had seen beck , mostly because of work and how busy he was being a " soccer prodigy and famous person " ( cue jessie rolling her eyes at that statement ) . what jessie really wanted was him back home and in between her sheets so she could bother him in person rather than just on the phone and through mass spamming hearts on his instagram . it was fine , because now was the time where she can do that . the small time between matches when he can relax , and jessie can pull him into bed for hours ( days ) until he is needed again .

burying her head into beck's neck , jessie grins as she takes in the man's scent while pressing her chest into his back to big spoon him with her leg draped over his waist . that man was not going anywhere , as far as jessie was concerned . " y'know , the farmers market is back open for the summer . i think that bitch phyllis is making her brownies again. we should go in the morning before the crowds get there . " she mumbled , pressing a kiss below his ear . the woman sucked , but man she could bake . jessie just wanted to spend every minute with beck that she could .

she can appreciate perfect timing when she sees it. normally, having somebody block her sun in the middle of a tanning session would be downright offensive – but beckett shows up just as she's ready to wrap up for the day. & oh, an ice cream would just hit the spot right now. her head lifts only slightly off the beach chair, heart shaped glasses moved to the top of her head as glossed lips shape a bright smile. " hmm, that ice cream can't possibly be sweeter than you, can it ? " an innocent attempt at flattery to counter his thoughtfulness as she shifts her frame & stands up. beach heel sand prints in her wake, hands clasp behind her back as she steps closer. great flavor choices. but she does have a preference. & if she's going to make it known, she'll sure do it with eyelashes batting. ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀a bright smile adorns barbie's picture perfect features, warmth spilling into her gaze as she takes in what used to be a resident of barbieland. he has grown into his features a little more, which is to say that he's aged ; beautifully human, but barbie could still recognize beck out of an entire sea of people.

⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀she didn't understand what it was that he felt all those years ago, all that talk about feeling different — but she remembers telling him that barbie as a whole had always been about following your dreams, and that the sentiment didn't JUST have to resonate with the other barbie's — it could be for anybody.

⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀the next thing they had known, beck had disappeared off to the real world. one of the first barbies to achieve such a feat, celebrated for his bravery in venturing off into the unknown. back then, barbie didn't understand why he'd want to leave — she understood now.

⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀her smile only seems to brighten at his words, hands grasping his as she tries to contain her own excitement. while staying with gloria and her family had been a blessing in itself, barbie didn't want to impose any longer than she had to — and once she had seen beck on the tv, she knew the choice was no longer in her hands ; she had to seek him out.

⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀and that alone was not as easy as she had initially HOPED it to be. after a literal run on a soccer field and outrunning authorities for what felt like the fifth time ( who knew the real world had so many rules ? ) it was by some MIRACLE barbie didn't get dragged away to another holding cell. no, it was all thanks to him.
