it's all stereotypical barbie's fault — if she hadn't started thinking about death and if her feet hadn't gone flat and if she hadn't gone to visit weird barbie . . . then maybe everything would still be normal . something white hot and angry will begin to crawl through her insides , something she now knows is blame . it's quickly replaced by guilt and shame ; she knows it's not the other barbie's fault , and she shouldn't be trying to condemn her because she's feeling badly . not just badly , but truly awful . there's the ( at one time unfamiliar , but now incredibly familiar ) sensation of tears pricking at the corner of her eyes once astronaut barbie mentions crying . she doesn't want to cry , wants to go back to the time where she didn't even know what crying was . ' no , i don't want to cry anymore . i've done enough of that , and i'm over it . ' voice lacks the self - assurance that she tries to project , and the tears that start to track down her cheeks really undermine her point .
