i’ve been rewatching lost so my youngest sister can watch it for the first time & this time around (i think this is my sixth or seventh full rewatch) has got me thinking a lot about mib and jacob. we just watched across the sea. theory time..

i don’t think mib was born evil, but i think jacob might’ve been. which is pretty wild considering how they turned out. by the end, they were both bad, but in different ways - jacob being the manipulative, egotistical & reactive type (as well as delusional to the fact he’s a bad guy), with mib being the calculating, scheming & vengeful type, fully aware he’s not morally sound. if mib hadn’t been raised by an evil, deranged woman, and if he had been allowed to leave the island, i don’t think he ever would have turned evil. jacob on the other hand was violent and spiteful from the get go, with a really horrible temper. i think their real mother claudia noticed this as she watched over them, and that’s why she chose to talk to mib. she probably figured jacob would be hostile towards her, and immediately tell ‘mother’, who would then carry out the genocide of the people on the island years before she did it canonically when mib was about to leave with them.

i’m rambling now, but yeah - mib could’ve been a good guy if his family hadn’t been totally unhinged asshats.

Buckle up folks. It's time for musical jewelry box Skywishes (and baby Flower Flash!)

I do not remember exactly how my obsession with mlp started as a kid. What I know is I had Serendipity from McDonald’s, i had watched Dancing in the Clouds on Teletoon and at some point I got her as a present and she was my very, very favorite.

To the point where I took her everywhere with me, except from school. One day when I was about 7, I took her with me to my grandmothers funerals, which occurred pretty far from home, and when I came back, I realized I had left her there. My mom called the funeral home, but my Skywishes was nowhere to be found; I was devastated. I would draw her on cardboard and pretend I still had her with me to play with my other ponies.

Because we only knew her french name from Dancing In the Clouds, Dancilia, my dad could never find her on the web. Nothing would show up for Dancilia. But after a year and a half, he found her on ebay, from Hong Kong, and on Christmas that year, she was gifted to me!

I really, really wish I still had the video. My house burned about a year later and I think we lost it at this moment, but my mom was recording me as I unwrapped my present. It was such a beautiful moment. I cried, i screamed out of joy, jumping and running around the house for a good five minutes. I don't think I'll ever forget that.

Though I still wonder what happened to my OG Skywishes! I think she might have been at a park nearby. Hopefully another little girl picked her up. As for my Christmas Skywishes, we cleaned her after the fire and she's at my parents in my bedroom. I bought a MIB Musical jewelry box to unbox in 2018, and this one is from 2020.

So what about it? It has to be my favourite set ever. The music box tune is so cute, and I love how the box opens up with the magnet! And the jewelry is adorable. (12/🦄)

Jesper: Star Wars (the original trilogy and the prequels), Indiana Jones, Life of Brian, Ferris Bueller's Day off, American Pie, MIB, Terminator, Ghostbusters, Scream, Back to the future etc. He definitely likes fun adventure movies. Also a lot of animated movies like The Lego Movie and Lego Batman (masterpieces) and Pixar and Dreamwork's Movies (his favorites being Toy story and Shrek). Also Disney classics like treasure planet and Atlantis. Probably also western movies and he'd idolize Clint Eastwood.

Favorite Series are The Office, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo etc.

Wylan: Perks of being a wallflower, Ladybird, Howl's moving castle, Billy Elliot, Your Name, Dead Poet's society, Stardust, Narnia, La La Land, Lotr trilogy (his comfort movies), Call me by your name and all of Wes Anderson's movies. I think he'd be secretly a huge filmnerd who also loves A24 movies, David Fincher, arthouse movies etc. But I think he would be a bit embarrassed by it.

His favorite series are Doctor Who (David Tennant Version because that's the best one), Fargo and Good Omens.

Nina: A sucker for romance and chick flicks, especially romantic comedies. The Notebook, Mamma Mia!, When Harry met Sally, Mean Girls, She's the Man, badly written Netflix romantic comedies,

She likes reality TV and desperate housewives, sex and the city, friends and modern family.

Matthias: 1917, Saving Private Ryan, All quiet on the western front, Hacksaw Ridge, The Notebook, Dunkirk, John Wick movies and other action movies. My taste is completely different so it's very difficult for me to think of other movies he would like.

I don't think he would watch a lot of series because it takes up a lot of time. Not the guy to concern himself with entertainment and media really but does enjoy a good story.

THE GHOST OF PICS: MECHS PAST

And with THAT tortured pun, December's Patreon-backed @tfwiki picture batch is all stuff we've kinda needed forever, all stuff from the prior century, and all stuff from outside the US market!

We start with Takara's original DEATHSAURUS, Decepticon leader in 1989's Victory, who just had his Legacy Haslab toy start showing up on doorsteps. And of course, new separate pics for his Breast Animal partners EAGLEBREAST and TIGERBREAST (yes, get them giggles out, go ahead).

Let's jump back a year to 1988's Super-God Masterforce, and the Godmaster RANGER. This mold is the only one of the three Powermaster Autobot cars to get recolored for its Takara release. Sadly, the MIB copy I bought back in 1996 was missing its gun, thus my general reluctance to add a pic to the wiki. But lord, that tiny, crunchy book scan we were using suuuucked. Made Ranger look white when he's a very light stony blue. Still using the scan though, just now in an inset panel to show off the gun I don't have.

And now we bounce ahead to 1990's Zone, and the Micro Transformer base SKY HYPER, piloted by Deadwheeler. I took these pics forever ago at some BotCon, and have long lost the notes as to who owned this piece a few hard drives back. This sample was also missing the three ramps, thus both the length of time it took for me to get comfy going ahead and adding these to the wiki, and the new book-scan inset to show the missing ramps.

Let's shift over to the European market, with 1992's THUNDER CLASH, the leader of the Autobot Turbmasters. His gravity-feed missile launcher was, like all the Turbomaster and Predator launchers, very much not US choke-gate compliant.

Fun fact: Thunder actually did get a Japanese release! He and Skyquake were straight imported to Japanese stores in Hasbro packaging, with just some necessary legal info changed to Japanese on the boxes. This was the Operation: Combination year, where Takara released the small Turbomasters and Predators in 2-packs.

And now we're going much further back, and much further south. No, that's not Brawn, that's OUTBACK, the 1987 Mexican version by IGA. Apparently, IGA was unwilling or unable to pay for the new '86 Mini Vehicle molds, thus they made their own versions by simply recoloring the '84 originals and slapping them on new cards for the '86 characters. Sometimes with alternate decos to boot!

Sadly, I don't own this toy, and like Sky Hyper, this was a BotCon pic taken with original owner info lost to time. (I always try and credit the toy owner when they let me take pics.)

Now here's the ones I'm super-happy about. These are two of the three Eletrix, ESPORTE and PORSCHE, exclusive to Estrela's 1985 Brazilian Transformers line! These toys transform and walk/roll forward via remote control, attached by a wire over 4 feet long. I'm keeping an eye out for the third one, Jipe.

None of the '85 Brazilian toys have any faction markings, but the Autobot-style packaging leads one to assume "all good guys". As do the bios of many of the toys in the line... but the Eletrix lack bios, sadly. Which is weird, as Estrela made up new bios for some toys in the line, and just straight-translated others from their Hasbro bios.

These molds were released in the US, but as the "Pow-R-Bots" in Village Toys' TF-wannabe line Convert-A-Bots. Like Estrela, Village licensed them from Japan's Yonezawa Toys, where they were the Remote Change Robo Series. All of these releases use the same plastic colors, but give them new stickers for branding and language.

I bought these two MISB (cellophane still there!) earlier this year, but was a little gunshy about opening them, worried the electronics might have somehow rotted. Schrodinger's Electronics. But no, since they didn't come with batteries, no corrosion, and they work as well as a 1984-mold cheap electric gear-powered toy can (that is to say, loudly).

And of course, since I got the boxes, I took the opportunity to take 600dpi scans of the box art unique to Estrela's packaging!

Hey all, not that anybody really cares but I thought I would update you guys on the status of my LOST project! I’ve had a lot of love on this from Reddit and Tumblr alike so I thank you all very kindly.

The sims I hope to release are as follows (purple-complete, green-current WIP, white/black means I haven’t started them yet oops):

Hurley, Jack, Sawyer, John, Charlie, Jin, Sayid, Desmond, Ben, Richard, Juliet, Kate, Claire, Ana Lucia, Sun, Rose, Bernard, Shannon, Boone, Libby, Eko, Michael, Walt, Penny, Charles (Widmore), Miles, Daniel, Charlotte, Horace, Radzinsky, Chang, Jacob, MIB (as himself).

The items I hope to release are as follows:

• 2x build buy promotional posters (EA aesthetic w/ English and Simlish swatches)

This project is taking me a while, as I do work full time and obviously cannot commit to a schedule for it. I am also a huge perfectionist and it literally took me months to settle on the boys’ final forms, so I tend to take my time with content anyway. I am hoping to get the whole thing released before the summer.

Hey, sorry, weird question, but what happened with Reddit and Westworld? Did the creators of Westworld change something about the show's future storylines because a redditer guessed what was going to happen?

So Westworld had a gigantic audience of 12 million, and it's surprising because this was HBO's attempt for a new tentpole franchise when Game of Thrones was going downhill.

A subreddit spawned, I was in it as a viewer capacity and there was a lot of speculation. Star Ward level of speculation. Which is good , if your show is good, you want them engaged.

So a bunch of redditors had guessed ( Spoilers) that Ed Harris was playing the Current version of Man in Black, and Jimmy Simpson was the younger version of Man in Black , William. That they were the same character.

And that's because the first season was actually beautifully crafted. Including one scene where Younger William enters the park for the first time, and debated choosing a Black or White cowboy hat. This is a simple storytelling device, character is nice, naive, believes in the good in the world, circumstances makes him lose that humanity. Then it made sense for William to be MIB, wearing the black cowboy hat. But until you saw the entire series it could be brushed off. But once you saw it, it made so much sense.

This is during the height of GOT, Star Wars when speculation and the need for twists and turns were paramount. Felt like you needed to outsmart the viewers if you want to be a good showrunner.

During that time, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have an interview to an audience, which they said things in a joking manner. But in the age of digital social media, things go fast. Especially if it's only a text blurb and people didn't see the actual clip

Turns out to be a tongue in cheek joke. But the damage was done and it spread everywhere.

They also decided to do a prank to reveal the all the spoilers of season 2, turns out they made a rickroll video to Redditors as a light-hearted joke.

With that said, season 2 started but there was a lot of thing that seemed off in the show, it started to get even more conveluted.

Multiple spanning timelines. The show also started to get more and more philosophical. Because the show is about Robots ( Hosts) , you never know if a character is a robot as well. So that could feel like a cheap gimmick.

Also it's not only focused on Westworld anymore, it spanned outside to the real world , making a show called Westworld...not Westworld ( even though the Old Westworld movie had multiple theme park sections as well)

I also worked in Marketing, I also want to take the hunch, that General Audience ( Not the hardcore Human Philosopher/ai/spirit/High Art viewer ) wanted to just watch Robots vs Humans and the drama surrounding that, not get too deep in the human subconscious.

But the showrunners made it felt they added twists and turns so much, maybe to outsmart said Redditors? ( As I said, joke or not right?) That the general audience started to be confused and lost interest

The show then went from season 1 with a staggering of 12 million viewers, to season 4 measly few million. And this is HBO rolling the red carpet for Nolan and Joy.

I feel, if you're a showrunner, you need to be careful because anything you say will be dissected and spread like wildfire, and sometimes written articles don't convey tone, especially if it's a joke, that click bait newest and even well known journals can run with. This you can clearly see if you are part of the Marvel fandom.

All of this is sad because Westworld season 1 was so beautifully crafted and written. But because of all of this, as a viewer, you're left wondering if Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy were genuinely trying to craft a twist because the story needed it, or done it for the shock and confuse viewers even more.

This is why I am a bit worried about the TV Fallout Series because they are the executive producers and also Nolan directed some episodes.

This is also why there is so many similar vibes to Westworld, especially MIB to The Ghoul, Dolores Abernathy to Lucy Maclean and so on as I posted on my Tumblr

Both Fallout and Westworld had the gaming aspect where your character could choose to be good, mid , or evil. As Westworld, humans can go in to just explore an enchanting Western theme park, but some are deviants and they go there to unleash their deepest desires.

The only hope I have is that Fall Out is a franchise, they have rules and lore.

Then again Star Wars had rules and lore but they retconned and brought back dead characters just for reusing legacy characters to make more money...

Made in Abyss x DCA AU

So, recently got very obsessed with Made in Abyss (for those of you who don't know, it's an anime). I've been going absolutely feral over it but I technically haven't finished the second season so I'm going off of first season and the movie knowledge. My bad if anything is incorrect when I mention the show.

And of course, I'm also obsessed with the daycare attendants. Of course I would combine the two and make an AU; what else would I do? :giggle:

So, Made in Abyss (just gonna abbreviate it to MiB from now on in this post) has artifacts/relics in it. One of the main characters in MiB, Reg, is an artifact, technically? So, basically he's a cyborg guy.

So... what if Sun and Moon are just silly little artifact guys? Well, not little, they'd probably be fairly tall. They would either count as first, special, or unknown grade relics... I'm not sure which one yet.

Sun and Moon are around seven feet tall fully robotic humanoids that seemed to have originated from within the Abyss. Their original creators are unknown, and it's also unknown how long they've been in commission. Their appearances are comprised of unknown metals making up their bodies that seem to mirror each other except for their color scheme and faces/heads. They are thin in stature and have extendable limbs, similar to that of Reg's except for where Reg's arms are somewhat rope-like when they extend, Sun and Moon's arms only extend outward and are not rope-like. Their arms extend up to 15 feet (4.57 meters). Sun and Moon have somewhat digi-grade legs similar to that of an animal. Their arms are longer than their legs, allowing them to be able to run on four legs if a quick escape is needed, but they prefer standing on two legs. They are fully capable of speech, but their voices have a sort of mechanical reverb to them. Their voices are not completely monotone and robotic and are deep and warm. They are capable f free will and are not completely mindless robots. They have some form of consciousness, despite being inhuman machines. They also have PAW BEANS despite their hands are very humanoid. They are extremely durable and completely immune to the Curse of the Abyss due to not being human. It is thought that the only material that can break through their metal is the spines of an Orb Piercer, but there isn't really any proof, especially when they reside layers above. Sun and Moon are unnaturally fast and seem extremely coordinated, connected to each other despite how far apart they are.

Despite their origins in the Abyss, they reside near the bottom of the first layer, where they have a makeshift hut. There are rumors in Orth of the mechanical humanoids coming to the aid of younger delvers who get lost among the first and second layers of the Abyss, but few actually see them. A couple of delvers have attempted to go after Sun and Moon, but only a couple have actually made it back. Sun and Moon are extremely defensive in a threatening scenario and are ruthless fighters when threatened. Sun and Moon refuse to harm any children, young teen, or teenager. They won't hesitate if it's an adult, though. Strange.

I'm gonna draw 'em eventually. Might make a delver Y/N.

What was the first part of your WIP that you created?: wow, that is a bit of a question. See, before I realised that I had a story to tell in this universe, before politics or interstellar wars or honour bound gunslingers became a thing, Children of the Stars existed purely as a boredom fueled daydream about a world where humanity on Earth was a long lost colony of an empire that would check up on us every hundred years or so and try nudge our technology along a bit (I know.shocking how much a story can deviate from the original idea, eh?). This concept of an incredibly technologically advanced civilisation trying to work on a primitive society from the shadows is, at it's core, the basic premise of what would (three or four iterations later, when I started writing my mess of a first draft as an HFY episodic series) become the IUC [Imperial upliftment corps], so I think it's safe to say that's probably the oldest thing simply because it's survived the longest.

If your story was a TV show, what would the intro song be?: "Short change hero" by The Heavy. Maybe swapping it out for "Blue Monday 88" by The New Order about halfway through the series for thematic reasons could be a good idea.

Who are your favourite character/s and why? Adrian Castellan purely because of how much of a challenge it was to start thinking like he would. I started writing his backstory, and when I was done, I stood back a bit and realised that actually getting into the headspace of someone who is (for lack of better phrasing) seven unique kinds of f***ed up but still trying to be a good person is going to be difficult. The kind of person who's had to kill frequently in horrific ways since before his age had even hit the double digits just to survive to adulthood. Yet despite everything, he's still someone who's good with kids, someone who will care about a complete stranger in his own thorny way and someone who still has a heart, battered and jerry-rigged though it might be.

What other pieces of media could share a fan base with your WIP? I think Warhammer 40k fans might see some draw in the setting until they see a xenophilic humanity (Just kidding, I love you guys). Maybe a few Stellaris players or MiB fans.

What has been your biggest struggle while writing your WIP? Probably the story itself actually. I got the setting and character chemistry down and continued to wing the hell out of the story for quite a while before figuring out what the story was that kept teasing me to tell it.

Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them! All of them are alien to human sensibilities given that the entire book takes place on another planet. There are the Tsgara, six-legged reptilian chase predators about the size of a cheetah that are evolved to prey upon the local intelligent species. They tend to get confused by geometric shapes for some reason, so a legitimate defense tactic is to carry an eight armed star on you and just shove it right in their face to scare them off. Then there are the Kalaani, who are bred as beasts of burden and for meat, or the Ghar-nemyi or "unnamed horrors" that live in the deeper regions of the planet's seas and are called "Leviattii" (Leviathans) by the humans, or more informally "Magna Nothi" (The big bastards). Adrian likes to call them Djunlanur, which means something like "the big Fuglies," .

How do your characters get around? Depends. Anywhere in the city, they use their legs. Anywhere else is either a hike or them calling a transport to come pick them up.

What part of your WIP are you working on right now? What I affectionately am calling 'the war of the shared braincell' in my notes, which is Adrian trying to hide the true nature of what his people are and what their purpose is on Kradoma from Lyanni, while she proves to actually be annoyingly intelligent given that she has no prior knowledge to go on and can still consistently figure out where she needs to go for scraps of answers.

What aspects of your WIP do you think will draw people in? Hopefully the uniqueness of the setting and premise, maybe the promise of it being a scifi political drama.. idk.

BEN HEADCANONS

I believe it's something of a universal fanon but: he actually likes bunnies and taking care of them, instead of only using them as a means to his Evil Plans :)

He had a crush on Richard as a teenager/young adult... with Richard being The Only Person Who Cares About Me etc. Fortunately, his stalking skills and resources back then weren't what they are now. And he probably grew out of it.

He homeschooled Alex. I believe he was fine with teaching high-school level of any subject. If Alex got interested in something he's not familiar with on a higher level, like science, he'd ask someone like Ethan or Juliet etc to teach her. But Alex got super into history so Ben was like yessss >:)

Alex mentioned she'd like to go to the university to study history and Ben got scared because if he let her, she could very well decide to stay off the island forever. But he didn't want to outright forbid her (it was before The Karl Thing and their relationship was still good) so he said 'of course :)' and started to plan how to manipulate Alex into not wanting to go to the university anymore.

✨headcanon about the flash sideways

Jacob and MiB were stuck in the flash sideways universe for a very, very, VERY long time doing the community service by helping all the people they fucked over in the original universe. They also had to do it TOGETHER until they learned the lesson of 'maybe don't kill your brother when you're angry with him'.

I also believe in this universe they got raised by Claudia. I'm not sure how it would work timeline-wise, but if they landed in the Modern!AU with everyone else, I imagine MiB would become some kind of an engineer and Jacob an artist, therefore they would represent the ultimate animosity of the modern age: STEM vs humanities.

I see a great comedic potential in here, you know.

In all honesty, Idk, I need some time to form any coherent image of the Island... Like does it have some sort of mind of its own? Or is it just how people interpret stuff which Jacob an MiB do? What happens when the protector fails? I just don't know!
