Easily Forgetful | A Second Perspective Character-Insert Story

You can skip this indented block of text if you just want to read the story (or do whatever you want!).

"I did it, I finally wrote something ever since the ever so friendly writer's block came to greet me. I wrote this just for the fun of it, and to remind myself how to write this sort of stories.

I certainly have forgotten how to give titles now and I've changed it 10 times by countlessly proofreading this. And oh, here's the character's ref sheet you're about to 'interact' with: mah baby. Thank you for taking your time to read this, I highly appreciate it."

Finding yourself in the void, you're instantly greeted with the dim abyss. To your surprise, you feel a weak poke in your back.

"OH DEAR ME!!! EEEKK!!!!!!"-a voice shrieked gleefully-"YOU'RE REAL AND YOU'RE ACTUALLY HERE WITH MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! OH MY DEAR-STARS-CELESTIA-AND-BEYOND! WHAT A MERRY DAY!!!"

Instinctively, you look at the source of the euphoric screech. A short skeleton is bouncing up and about in a celebratory manner, squealing their heart out as they encircle you.

Their highly energetic and childlike behaviour shows no sign of stopping soon, gradually increasing their speed as their figure began to blur out.

"W-woah there, pipe down bud-" You stopped them from their track "-don't want any mishaps to happen, you know?"

They froze for a while, staring at you in awe. "Sorry for my insolence stranger-" They suddenly said, breaking the momentary silence "-I'm just really really happy to find someone else to talk to a̸̲͠n̴̦͠d̶̈́ͅ ̴̞̔ṋ̶̄o̶̱̔t̷̨̎ ̸̗̚j̴̦̏ų̷͠s̶̠̋ṭ̸̊ ̵̻̈s̸̼̈́ō̵̢m̸̹̀e̴̠͒ ̸̘̽o̴͍͠t̵̜̎h̷̺͒e̷̜͐r̶̘̓ ̶̣͊ṽ̵̟ö̵̯́i̷͎͋c̴̣͝ĕ̵̢s̴̺̉ ̷̞̿i̴͔͘n̶͖̈́ ̴͈̋m̵̻̉y̶̧̾ ̵̣́h̸̝̓e̴̤͝ȁ̴̜d̵͎̀"

"Pardon?" Statics suddenly interrupted their voice during the last sentence, the smile on their face glitched away for a slight moment.

"Ehehe it's fine, it was nothing serious, I'm gruntled to meet 'cha by the way!" They replied nonchalantly, "That topic is kinda boring isn't it? ...Oooh I know! Let's talk about something more interesting!!" They proposed, trying their best to change the topic and gloss over what just happened.

Seeing how hard they try to avoid it and their childish attitude, you decided to spare their feelings. "Hmm, how about getting to know each other then?" you suggested.

They paused for a while, before looking at you with a hint of guilt in their 'eyes'. "Do you not know how to do it yet?" You asked with an infantilized tone, they only played with their hand while avoiding eye contact.

"It's okay, I'll go first then" you reassured them, restoring their earlier mood. "So, my name is Y/N and I [INSERT A SERIES OF INTRODUCTION-RELATED PERSONIFIED CHARACTERISATION HERE]"

You've spent hours teaching him many things; the concept of name, friendship, alternate universes, determination and many useful things. Most of the topics you've talked about was asked by him.

But in the end, everyone has their own things to do, even you. You looked at your newfound acquaintance and tried to get him to follow you. Perhaps it was their childishness that let you took pity in him. Even if he survived his universe's destruction somehow, his conditions now are too concerning for you to leave him all alone in the vast emptiness. Don't you think so?

Well alas there's nothing you can do, for the childish skeleton chose to stay and declined you.

He asked for something simple though, just for you to take your time to meet him to make them feel less hollow.

"It's a promise then" he claimed with a smile oh so wide, hugging you on impulse, holding you tight.

By that point, he can no longer only see you as someone real. To have and long for something they could look forward to is what he truly feel.

You bid him a farewell, and he waved you good bye. But before you left, you heard a screamed ramble of something. It goes along the lines of: "I'm sorry if I ever forget-", It was barely audible to you, so you shrugged it off.

And so he waited, for the next time you show up, will be another chance to understand something new. Perhaps like the nature of existence, resets, routes, LOVE, concept of time, end, death AND OH SO MUCH MORE THAT HE'S REALLY EXCITED FOR.

But some things are just uncontrollable. Now that you've fulfilled your promise to him countless times, you two are no longer acquaintances.

|NOW, YOU ARE FRIENDS AND FRIENDS WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BREAK HIS PROMISES ESPECIALLY FOR THE ONES THAT ASKED FOR SAID PROMISE IN THE FIRST PLACE.|

He wasn't there, you were only a little bit late than usual, but He wasn't there. The abyss and the scattered dusts seems to be insulting you. For they're the prove of your failure.

But what's this? To your surprise, you feel a weak poke in your back. You turned as quickly as you could and hugged them real tight as soon as you recognised him.

"Don't ever do that again, it's not funny" You muttered shakily.

He snickered as he push you back softly, "This is real nice and all Mx. but I'm sorry..." A short pause starts to prompt your frantic.

"Do I know you?" He askes coldly as he summoned his claymore, preparing a stance.

Ending 1/??? To Them, You Never Existed

You've interacted with the childish skeleton, you've hung out with him and might even bonded emotionally with him somehow, and yet, he have the audacity to forget about you completely. Was it really how that all happened?

Oh you don't need to try to remember that, because he certainly doesn't. But why you ask? Or how even? How could he forget you so easily?

Were your promise not enough? Were all of your interactions this far means nothing to him? Have you ever meant anything to him? Did you ever found out what truly happened to him? Do you even remember what he meant to you? DID YOU EVEN ACTUALLY CARE?! DID YOU SHOW THEM THAT YOU CARED? YOU NEVER REALLY DID, DIDN'T YOU?

TerrorTale: A parody of overly creepy and violent AUs like HorrorTale

MemoryTale: An AU where Chara commits a genocide route against their will and after each kill gain that person's powers and memories

DeltaFell: Deltarune but more UnderFell.

FurtureTale: An AU that takes place 100 after the original and most monsters merged their soul, a human soul, and machines to live forever

Sans Bar: A bar for any AU but mostly Sanses

Cuptale/CupSwap/CupFell/CupFellSwap/OuterCup/DeltaCup: Undertale and other AUs but all characters are turned into Cuphead characters

TJP Underfell and FellSwap: My interpretation of the concept of these evil AUs

DeterminationTale: An AU where all monsters all so filled with Determination that they are constantly melting or violent

DeltaTale: Undertale but with Deltarune characters

HarverstTale: Where Monsters began to mutate due to using the human's Souls and hearts

CivilWarTale(or WarTale for short): Where the Underground is split into three divisions: The Royal Family, The Royal Guard, and The MTT Fan Club and all are at war over rule of the Underground

BrokenTale: UnderTale but everyone is falling apart literally and figuratively

ExaggerateTale: Every character has one part of their personality turned up to 11

HumanTale: Everyone is a human....

Cool Sans: Everything is the same except Sans wears sunglasses
