Something Blue

When Melon came into contact with Light, however, the sly smirk on her face swiftly faded away, and a warm smile took its place mere moments later, and she sighed deeply in relief. The only thing she could whisper to Light before she melted into a gentle embrace was that they felt wonderfully warm.

In turn, Light sweetly smiled as they pulled Melon even closer to keep her out of the icy wind, and away from the falling snow, which melted before it got close to them. Then, after they gave Melon a soft kiss on her head, Light politely apologised again for laughing, to which Melon quietly hummed.

Though the sky was quickly growing more turbulent, and Light figured that the snowfall would worsen on their way back, they were close to town already, and Melon and they had little left to do there. But since Melon was still resting her head on their torso, Light would not dare quicken their pace.

When they made it to town, Melon told Light the path she wanted to take, before they briefly headed to the post office to post her letters. Afterwards, they passed through a small market to reach the shops, and finally, they went back to the Inn with extra supplies, just in case they got snowed in.

With Light carrying Melon's bags on their back, as well as Melon herself, they quickly trotted back to the Inn, trying to make sure that the candles they had bought would not melt. But not long after they entered the forest, Melon saw a figure trudging through the snow, and she asked Light to wait.

After she pointed out the lone figure, Light rushed over to help them, when Melon realised that she recognised the Mare with the deep blue coat, and she leapt off Light's back in a panic. Then, Melon gently took the Mare into her arms, and asked Blueberry Joy if she was all right, as she felt cold.

All Blueberry could muster was a quiet chuckle, before she slowly grabbed her oldest Sister's hoof, and told her how lovely it was to see her again. As Melon's eyes welled up with tears, she held her Sister's hoof to her chest with a warm smile, before she turned around to ask Light for their help.

Without a second thought, Light lowered their body to the ground, allowing both Melon and Blueberry to get on their back. But just before they got up again, Blueberry pointed to where she was lying a moment ago, and told Melon to not forget her satchel, before she fell back in her Sister's embrace.

Fortunately, Light managed to grab her satchel, and after they made sure the two Fruit Sisters were safely on their back, they flew back to the Inn at winged speed, arriving only a few moments later. Here, they carefully laid Blueberry down in the lounge in front of the hearth, and Straw and Honey.

Before Light even got up again, Strawberry dashed to the side of his twin Sister, and took her into his warm embrace, while Light got up to give the Fruit Siblings some space. While the others looked after Blueberry, Light unpacked and stored away everything they brought, except for Blue's satchel.

When they returned to the lounge, Light sighed in relief when they saw that Blueberry had woken up, and was wrapped in a blanket in her twin Brother's arms, where she waved at them. When Light showed Blue her satchel, she gasped with a smile on her face, and thanked Light and Melon for bringing it.

As Light sat down next to Melon, they asked Blue how she got stranded there, to which she replied:

"The snowstorm caught me off-guard when I was drawing… I'm glad you two found me and my satchel."

A Little Warmth

To Melon's relief, not only did Strawberry quietly chuckle in response, but Honeydew slowly started to smile again, before she thanked her Older Siblings for their help. As Straw closely embraced his little Sister, Melon said she had to head to town, but she promised she would not be gone for long.

When Straw and Honey sombrely asked her what she had to do, Melon kindly reassured the two that she would only head to the shops and post the letters she had written. But before she left, Melon heard a familiar voice tell her it was snowing, before sweetly asking her if she would like some company.

As Melon turned around to see Light standing close behind her, a warm smile and a bright blush grew upon her face, before she thanked them for their offer, and shyly looked away again. But as soon as she was not looking, Light gently kissed her on her cheek, which made her blush brighten even more.

Although they would have loved to tease their Sister for her bashfulness, Straw and Honey struggled to find the words they wanted to say, and they could only smile at the two. In turn, Light politely waved, when they noticed that Melon was shaking, and they worriedly asked her if she was all right.

To Light's confusion, though, Melon only mumbled, so they laid down on the ground to talk to her at eye height, to make sure that nothing was wrong. Then, Melon suddenly turned around, and placed her hooves on Light's face to softly kiss them in return, not caring about what her Siblings may think.

Some time later, after Melon pulled away from Light again, she whispered that she would adore it if they were to join her into town. But as she walked past Light, who had frozen in place with a blush on their face, she teased that they deserved that after kissing her right in front of her Siblings.

All Light was able to do in response was chuckle quietly, wearing a massive smile on their face, as Melon happily trotted past them into the hall, where she put on her jacket and scarf. But since she figured the snowfall would only grow more intense, she dug into the wardrobe to look for her boots.

Not long after she put on her boots, Melon came back to the lounge, and found that Light was hiding their face in their mane, failing to muffle their enamoured rambling. After Melon listened to Light express their love for a while, Straw told them she was behind them, with tears of joy in her eyes.

Although Melon was upset at Straw for telling on her, just like he had done before in the past, she cleared her throat and steadied her voice, and asked Light if they were ready to head out. But they merely nodded, before they got up to clean their face, as their happy tears had stained their mane.

Fortunately, a moment later, they stepped into view again, where they let out a deep sigh, and told Melon that they were set. After Light nodded to Straw and Honey, they followed Melon outside, where it took but a moment for Melon to start quivering from the cold, despite her thick winter clothing.

Since Light was not bothered at all by the snow and frost, they told Melon that they could help her stay warm, before they snorted in laughter, and apologised to her a mere moment later. But when she slyly asked them what was so funny, Light sweetly admitted that she closely resembled a small lamb.

After Melon rolled her eyes at Light, she leaned against them, and said with a smile:

"Don't you laugh! Not every creature has a built-in scarf, or FIRE inside of them, y'know?"
