Anyone on here seen The Tribe?

The fashion went hard, especially everything they put on Ebony.

Her sisters as well.

I've loved that they had an expert (their mom, who had her own braiding business) on set to do their hair and the girls always had the coolest looks.

Location Report - Pre Production news and information for Series IV
Series III of the Tribe finished production in December 2000, and was shown on Channel 5 in the UK soon after. After its huge success in the UK it was announced in April 2001 that Series IV of the Tribe would be going ahead. At this time, filming was nearing completion for Cloud 9's most recent show - Atlantis High.
And so, Series IV of The Tribe was scheduled to start filming on August 13th 2001.
Prior to the commencement of filming there is a huge amount of organisation and planning to be done in order for the smooth running of production once it is underway.
There are many processes to consider. This week we will specifically look at casting of main cast members and extra's for The Tribe Series IV.
THE PROCESS

CASTING
It is always necessary to have fresh new faces and 'looks' join as cast members for a new series. This keeps the series from going stale and predictable and enables new heroes and villains to be born! And so there are several new characters being introduced and included in the unpredictable and fantastic new storylines for Series IV.
Main Cast
Cast are ultimately selected through agents. However, the Executive in charge of production is essentially casting all year round at various shows and entertainment gigs.
A Casting Director is responsible for selecting a range of possible people for a role.
A part will become available. The Casting Director then invites the various agents who will put forward the best suitable candidates from their client list. Portfolios (description/photos/history of a client) are viewed by the Producers to find the most appropriate 'looks' and then these lucky people are invited to send in casting tapes as an audition.
The auditions consist of reading out a planned scene whilst being video taped according to given guidelines and in a way they think the character should be. The Executive Producer (Raymond Thompson), Executive in Charge of Production (Geoff Husson) and Producer (Debra Kelleher Smith) view these tapes and discuss who would best fit the role.
A select few will then come for interviews to meet the executives. This time may also be utilised to test the make-up and hair process on them.

Extras
The 2nd Assistant Directors are in charge of arranging any extra characters and cast members for certain scenes. These people are either on the books of agents or for large crowd scenes, Cloud 9 arranges for school groups or school drama teams to form them. This is always exciting as they can see first hand what is involved in filming and production.

WHO is confirmed?
Cloud 9 has confirmed so far the return of Meryl Cassie (EBONY), Beth Allen (AMBER), Jaimee Kaire-Gataulu (CLOE), Caleb Ross (LEX), Antonia Prebble (TRUDY), Michael Wesley-Smith (JACK) and Nick Miller (PRIDE). Additionally, it has been released that Meryl's sisters Megan and Monique Cassie will feature in Series IV as 2 new fantastic cast members! Quite how, where and why we cannot disclose but Tribe IV is definitely set to rock your worlds!
Special NEW cast member
There is a special new cast member starting for Series IV, all the way from the UK. This young lady is a huge Tribe fan and was lucky enough to be flown all the way from the UK for an audition and singing recording. As a result she landed the part of a brand new main character - details of which cannot be disclosed as yet.
She arrives in New Zealand early August ready to start costume fitting/makeup designs, learning lines and setting up her life for the next 6 months of filming.
Do you think she will be a 'baddy' or a 'goody'? You'll have to wait and see what exciting and new storylines are planned for her.
There will be more updates on this whirlwind dream for this special young Tribe fan/new main cast member.

Next week we will investigate 'who are the crew and what do they do'?

Actress Antonia Prebble has been involved with children’s charity Variety.org.nz for over three years now, helping to reduce childhood poverty in her home country.
Her former The Tribe co-star Megan Alatini has also participated in the cause, you can find short interviews with both women at the end of the article.
For Antonia - it was the memories of her own feelings of school-yard awkwardness that propelled her to act.
“When I was a kid, I hated being different,” she remembers, shaking her head.
“I just wanted to be the same as everyone else. I hated my name, because there was no-one else called Antonia. I didn’t want to stick out in any way. And if you can’t afford to go on camps and that kind of thing, then that would be awful. Those feelings of being excluded and embarrassed wouldn’t go away in a hurry.”
Antonia also remembers a friend at school who couldn’t come on camp with everyone else, and a girl who used to get dropped off at her house before school so Antonia’s parents could give her breakfast.
“I remember it was always a bit awkward for the girl and her parents, but better to be slightly awkward with breakfast, than not have any at all,” she says. “Her parents were doing their best.”

The Tribe - Where Are They Now? (Series 4)
Information gathered from Wikipedia, The Tribe wiki, thetribe.co.uk, and Instagram.
Tom Hern (Ram): After The Tribe, Tom did some acting in Power Rangers Dino Thunder (which also costarred fellow Tribe costar James Napier Robertson). These days, he runs a production company with James Napier Robertson called Four Knights Productions, which has produced and released several films, including I’m Not Harry Jensen, The Dark Horse (based on the true story of a New Zealand chess prodigy Genesis Potini, who also struggled with mental illness), and Pork Pie (a remake of an early 1980s New Zealand road comedy called Goodbye Pork Pie). Hern primarily works on the producing side of the partnership.
James Napier Robertson (Jay): James also runs Four Knights Productions alongside Tom Hern; the two have been friends for many years, going back to their acting days. James has essentially retired from acting and now works as a filmmaker full time. James has either written or directed most of Four Knights’ projects, and received many awards and accolades for his work on The Dark Horse.
Megan Alatini (Java): One of Meryl Cassie’s two older sisters (the Cassies also have a brother named Sebastian, who isn’t an actor but is instead a lawyer, as stated by Meryl in her interview with Raymond Thompson in “The Tribe: The Official Podcast”) who costarred with her for series 4 and 5, Megan actually rose to fame first as a member of the first ever group created by the Popstars format, TrueBliss (under her maiden name, Megan Cassie). She married longtime boyfriend Pita Alatini (who made his name as a rugby player for New Zealand’s national squad, the All Blacks) in 2000, two years before her stint on The Tribe began. After The Tribe, she had a run as a judge on New Zealand Idol in its third and final season, and then competed on the New Zealand version of Dancing with the Stars in 2007, placing second overall in the show’s third season. In 2008 she moved with her family to Japan, where her husband was playing rugby, and were in the country when the 2011 earthquake struck (the family safely returned to New Zealand a week after the earthquake). She more recently has worked as a flight attendant for Air New Zealand and as an aircrew trainer. She and husband Pita have three children, daughters Tonica and Tiara and son Trey. Megan often shows up in sister Meryl’s Instagram stories.
Monique Cassie (Siva): Monique has largely stayed out of the spotlight since her Tribe days. She married her longtime partner Alan Tonkin and now goes by Monique Tonkin, as shown on her Instagram (which she has made private). She and husband Alan have a son, Quelan, who is in his early twenties. Monique also occasionally shows up in sister Meryl’s Instagram stories.
Dan Weekes (Ved): Dan still acts as of his 2017 interview with thetribe.co.uk, primarily making short films. He regularly submits his work to a New Zealand based film competition called the 48 Hour Film competition and has also had ambitions of making a podcast. He has opted not to comment further on the incident with co-star Jaimee Kaire-Gautulu (who played Cloe) where the two (who were secretly dating at the time against cast rules) skipped out on a scheduled filming day and both ended up getting fired (their relationship ended not long after they were let go from the show, and Jaimee has retired from acting altogether and is now raising three sons as a single mother).
Kelly Stevenson (Dee): After her time on The Tribe came to an end, Kelly returned home to the U.K. (if you listen real closely on the show, you’ll notice she has a different accent from most of her castmates; based on her IMDb entry, she likely speaks in a Geordie accent, as it gives Newcastle, England as her birthplace). She completed her university studies and now works as a youth worker, and has also used her acting and theater experience to use as a drama coach.
Morgan Palmer-Hubbard (Patch): As of September 2018, Morgan has retired from acting and currently lives and works in Barcelona, Spain, where he runs his own yoga studio. He got into yoga as a way to deal with the pain associated with a condition called scoliosis (where there is lateral curvature in the spine), for which he eventually required surgery. He still visits New Zealand regularly.
And a few updates on cast members I have previously profiled:
Ari Boyland (KC) and his fianceé Tara got married last fall, with photos of the wedding being posted to his Instagram.
Jennyfer Jewell (Ellie) also got married, but all the way back in 2018! I only recently found her Instagram. Her husband’s name is Ed.
Danny James (Zoot) recently did an interview with The Tribe’s creator and executive producer, Raymond Thompson, for The Tribe: The Official Podcast (which can be streamed on all major podcast platforms as well as YouTube), and in addition to running his own building company in Auckland, he talked about his life these days. He’s married with two children (a 6-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter) and he has also taken up golf as a hobby (he told Ray during the podcast interview that he currently has a handicap of 20).
Beth Allen-McDermott (Amber) also recently did an interview for The Tribe: The Official Podcast with Raymond Thompson and during the interview revealed she is currently seven months pregnant with her third child with husband Charlie McDermott (who currently works in software, but has also been an actor; he is not to be confused with the American actor of the same name). The couple also has a four-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter. Congratulations to the McDermott family on their impending arrival!

not a dream
In early 2000s, when I was a kid growing up in Croatia, a New Zealand teen post-apocalypse show called The Tribe had everyone in a chokehold here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The show had everything - interesting stories, diverse cast, drama, weird fashion, power and chaos, a cult, good antagonists, good and bad acting, really everything.
And it had Meryl Cassie, Monique Cassie, Megan Alatini and Michelle Ang, enough said.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, I feel like Tom Hern who portrayed Ram sort of looks like Brad Mondo!
Tumblr media
Imagine the world's adult population wiped out by a mysterious, deadly virus and a bunch of kids trying to survive the aftermath while searching for a cure, learning how to grow food, take care of each other and so on?
The main cast were parts of a 'tribe' called the Mallrats (because they lived in an old shopping mall.
