Tribe Trivia 20: Tribe Tour Trivia

The cast (Caleb, Meryl, Michael and Victoria) were away for a little over 3 weeks travelling through Germany and England.

In this time:

They were flying in aeroplanes for 51 hours

They drove 1700 kilometres through Germany

During the three weeks they spent around 12 hours doing photoshoots for magazines, papers etc.

The most interviews they did in one day was at Cannelot Studios where they had 12 interviews one after another

The cast made a special live appearance in Birmingham plus they met lots of other fans around Germany etc - they signed around 6,300 autographs!!

Michael loves juice and we were told he drank around 5 glasses for breakfast and some more during the day! We worked out that Michael drank around 176 glasses of juice during the three week trip! That's 44 litres.

Meryl loves fruit and she ate around 3 plates of fruit a day - that's 66 plates of fruit in 3 weeks!

Tori loves watching movies and she always watched the movies on the plane. She watched around 10 movies in the 51 hours they were flying.

30 hours were spent listening to music on the bus while travelling around Germany.

Tribe Series 4 Now Being Broadcast!

Series 4 of The Tribe, Cloud 9’s long-running

cult teen/child drama series, is now being broadcast following the world premiere of the series in the UK on Channel 5. The series takes the characters and storyline of The Tribe into an exciting and uncharted direction and is available as 52 x half-hour episodes (also available as 26 x hour episode versions). This brings the total number of Tribe episodes across four seasons to 208 x half-hours (and 104 x hour episodes). Series 4 of The Tribe premiered on Channel 5 on January 5th Saturday and has received a fantastic reaction from viewers. A poll was conducted on the official website of The Tribe, www.tribeworld.com. and over 95% of fans responded of series 4 "we love it – bring on Series 5!". The Tribe is distributed around the world by Cloud 9’s distribution arm, Cumulus (please contact [email protected]) 2002 also sees the release of new Tribe books and The Tribe on DVD and video in new territories – as well as a tour by members of cast to Europe in January and February 2002. Tribe Trivia 19: Tribe Tour Trivia

This is the 4th major Tribe Tour to Europe and the 2nd to German. The last tour was with Beth Allen, Caleb Ross and Meryl Cassie. This time it includes Caleb Ross, Meryl Cassie, Michael Wesley-Smith and Victoria Spence.

On the current tour, the flight from New Zealand to Frankfurt is 23 hours and 15 minutes. In that time you could watch 46 Tribe episodes!!

The cast are flying 18,601 kilometres on their trip - if you were to walk this (walking at 5kph) it would take you 3720 hours or 155 days!!

There is a special "Tribe Coach" on the tour that the cast are using to get around Germany tha has leather couches, a TV, video player, CD, fridge and loads of comforts!

They are travelling to 8 cities throughout Germany including Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Göppingen, Munich, Bad Tölz, Bayreuth, Berlin and Erfurt.

They are using different kinds of transport including aeroplanes, coaches, evene a sleigh-ride through snowy mountains!

The cast will be having lunch in London with lucky winners of the Tribe and Atlantis High web contests.

The cast are giving interviews in every form of media - television, radio, magazines, newspapers, digital web media and by telephone!!

Meryl, Michael, Caleb and Victoria will be making a live appearance at Starcity in Birmingham where autographs etc will be done.

The cast have had to learn a few lines of German including -

"Ein Glass Wasser bitte" which means - A glass of water please.

"Ich verstehe nur Wurstsalat!" - I don't understand a thing you're saying!

"Was ist los?" - What's up?

ARE YOU HUNGRY?

The biggest turkey in the world was raised in the UK and was 85 pounds. It was the size of a medium sized dog. The average size of a normal turkey is between 14-45 pounds. If each person ate half a pound of turkey, the dog-sized one could have fed around 170 people! If that turkey was worth it's weight in gold, it would be worth $408000USD! Think how much cranberry sauce you would need!

NEW YEARS

New Years is said to have been first celebrated in Babylon around 4000 years ago.

In Austria, New Years Day begins with a celebration of midnight mass on the 31st December.

Tom Hern (Ram) wants to party!

Ram is a real showman and would love to hold a big New Years party. Perhaps we will see a New Years celebration in the Tribe?

The symbol of a baby to signify the New Year begun in Greece in 600BC.

In America on New Years Day, American football is shown all day long on television.

Auld Lang Syne was adapted from the poem by Scotland's most famous poet, Rabbie Burns.

FIRST FOOTER

New Years is called Hogmany in Scotland and it is tradition to watch for the first footer. This is a tall, dark stranger who arrives at the doorstep, offering a lump of coal for the fire and some cake or a coin.

Many families nominate a member of the family to be the first footer so that they will be in good luck for the New Year.

Who would want this guy to be the first footer?!

This tradition is thought to have originated in Scotland when people were scared of the blond haired Vikings who wreaked havoc throughout the country and thought that dark haired people were lucky.

However you choose to celebrate Christmas and the New Year we hope that it will be a happy one for you. A very Tribal Christmas to you all!

Tribe 4 Preview Episode 1 Well there’s not long at all now until "T-Day" and the worldwide launch of Tribe Series 4 in the UK on Channel 5 – January 5th at 12pm. We know there is great anticipation and interest in the series around the world – and here is an exclusive preview looking at what happens in episode one of the latest Tribe series… If you don’t want to know what happens, don’t read on! THE CHOSEN Series 3 ends with The Guardian and his followers leaving on a boat for a mysterious destination. Luke is going with them it seems, to rejoin his Chosen past – but is it also a sign of his future? Where is the Guardian going? Does his disappearance have anything to do with the arrival of the "true bringers of power and chaos"? Will the Chosen return in new numbers – more powerful than ever? Or are they a spent force who are a sign of the past, a small group that is simply overshadowed by the new people in the city…

THE TECHNOS Who are the Technos? They have amazing power – arriving in the city by plane (!) from where? Are they adults? That is the rumour going around the startled city. If not adults – then who are they? More importantly, what do the Technos want? They possess obvious technological power and skills. Their charismatic leader, RAM, is a major personality who is shrouded in secrecy, mystery, and kept at a distance from the city peoples. Is he a visionary who is determined to rebuild the city to help everyone’s welfare? Or is he building a New World order – an empire of his own for himself. Or could it be something else – virtually a world nobody has ever believed possible or seen before?

Who is JAY? Rumours are that he is RAM’s general – a skilled tactician and strategist who brings to fruition RAM’s visions. Is there more to JAY than this? Yes – a lot more…

And VED? JAY’s younger brother is a prodigy. His IQ is off the scale – but so is his tendency to get into trouble…

THE MALL RATS They thought it was all over with the defeat and apparent exile of the Guardian and the Chosen. Surely now they would have a chance to lead the Tribes in building a peaceful, democratic and unified world. Or so they thought. The arrival of the Technos changes the Mall Rats forever it seems. For all of them, life will never be the same again – for some more than others. Does Amber survive her pregnancy? Does the baby survive? What will be its fate and future? Do Bray and Amber stay together? Or does a figure from Amber’s past resurface and rekindle once dormant affections within her? What of Ebony? Tribe Trivia 16: Tribe 4

Did you know?

We're looking into some of the Trivia on Tribe 4. Stuff you never knew...

1. During the filming of Tribe series 4 the WespacTrust Stadium is being used as a location to film. The stadium can seat 34.500 people and is 26 metres high, that's about 80 feet which is the equivalent of a 5 storey building. If a Brachiosaurus (dinosaur) was in the middle of the stadium its head would just peek over the top. So what scenes in Tribe series 4 could the stadium be being used for???

2. A wheelchair is used and prominently used by someone in Tribe series 4. This type of transport is not all that we'll be seeing. Some intriguing and uniquely designed vehicles are also being used.

3. The Tribe is filmed in many locations and around 15 are used for the The Tribe series 4 including rooftops, private houses with gorgeous gardens, old hospitals, the stadium, a farm, a powerstation and of course the Cloud 9 studios and the pool!

4. Depending on the day, between 20-100 crew, cast and extras are used on one day. And they all have to be fed! Cloud 9 has a cafe (Take 9) that caters for breakfast and lunch.

5. A huge amount of equipment is used in a day on location. There are many trucks used for carting gear around and providing electricity for locations that don't have any. There are Grip trucks, lighting trucks, camera trucks, unit trucks, makeup buses, wardrobe buses, and a classroom camper. Plus the vehicle props!

6. Between 8-12 minutes of footage is about average for a days shooting on The Tribe. The scenes are scheduled for the day and the duration of each scene is accounted for and fitted into the schedule. 8-12 minutes a day is around 23 hours of footage!! This is enough footage to make 14 feature length movies!!

7. On special days additional crew are needed like Fight co-ordinators, Security, Safety officers and Animal wranglers. There are so many people you wouldn't think of that are needed to make a series of The Tribe.

8. For some of the large city street scenes filmed in central Wellington, the Art Department spend hours dressing the set. Take a look at the pics and you can see the huge task of the Art Department to make a clean street look like like a tribal city street. All those props have to be positioned and accounted for for continuity purposes. They need to be in the same place so that it never looks different from one angle to another - theres every type of junk you could imagine.

9. The costumes and makeup have been specially designed for Tribe 4. They are designed to reflect the characters and the storylines they will be leading. Some are more wild and some are more discreet. The costumes are all made and designed at Cloud 9 with the uniqueness that is The Tribe.

SERIES 4 AND EPISODE 157/158 – THE FUTURE…?

So what happens next? What is the future? What is in store for everyone in the Tribe after Series 3? You`ve seen the end of Tribe Series 3 - and what a cliffhanger! But where do things go from here for all concerned...?

The true bringers of power and chaos...? Who are they? And where did they get a plane and parachutes from - as well as walkie talkie type gear? Are they good or bad? What is the purpose of their operation in the city? But an ever bigger question - are they really adults? They look like them and sound like them - so is it true the virus did not really get rid of all the adults? There are more questions than answers at this stage. If they are adults, then are they an adult Tribe? Or are they from the government, perhaps survivors who were kept away from the virus in a secure compound? Are they going to help the city? Her labor seems to have begun when the pregnancy has not yet run its full term - perhaps all the stress and pressure of her life had gotten to her and the baby? Will Amber survive? Will the baby survive? And if they survive, what is going to happen to them both? Will they stay with Bray in exile from the city - or return to the city? The Chosen and the city Are the Chosen defeated and history - or are they the future? We know Big G escaped from the Mall Rats with the help of some devoted followers, and he plans to bring back the Chosen. It seems the worship of Zoot is far from over... or is it? Will the Chosen be a force to reckon with again - or does lightning not strike twice? Bray What about Bray? He seems to be okay but the last we saw, he looked out of the window in the barn and saw the plane passing overhead and the parachutes about to drop to the ground. Will Bray be okay? Can he help Amber and the baby survive? Can Bray survive himself? What will happen...? Ebony Well she appears to have done it again - managed to trick everybody and get in her favourite position - that of power. Ebony is boss of the city and seems to be ruling with an iron fist, slapping down all who oppose her or get in her way. But is that the right way to rule? Doesn`t that breed resentment and opposition? Can Ebony stay on her golden pedestal or might some unexpected visitors topple her from power - will she find herself Queen of the city or a Mall Rat again? And doesn`t she still love Bray? Luke, Ellie and Jack In relationships, a triangle is never a good shape - a love triangle can cause a lot of hurt and confusion as Luke, Ellie and Jack have all found out! Is Luke going to rejoin the Chosen? Or is he going to stay free and independent of his former head honcho, the Guardian? And will Luke stay single? Or is Ellie the one for him? But isn`t Jack the one for Ellie? Jack was certainly cut up about their break up - will he get back with Ellie? What about Ellie herself? What is she after? The Mall Rats And the other Mall Rats? Alice is depressed after the death of her love, Ned... Pride is upset about Amber being with Bray - does he really love MAY or isn`t his first love always and forever Amber? And is Amber`s baby really Bray`s or is it Pride`s? Will Lex and Tai-San find true love or just attraction and the occasional argument with each other? Are they really the right couple - or an odd couple? Will Salene find Ryan and true love? Will Ryan want to get back with Salene? Will she be after Bray? Will they come back to the city and rejoin the Mall Rats? Will May stay with Pride or find his love is not the same as her`s for him? Might she be attracted to Lex (they were a couple before)...? There is so much to think about - so many endings and so many possible new beginnings. TW - If you were stuck on a desert island with 3 other people what is the first thing that you would do? BA - Assess how good their physical form is…in case I had to eat them.

TW - If you could choose the 3 people you’d want to be stuck with, who would they be and what are your reasons for choosing them?

BA - Tori, Toni and a cow. They’d keep me entertained and you could imagine where I’m going with the cow.

TW - If you could take 3 items with you, what would they be? BA - A never ending supply of food and water and books to read.

TW - Where would you build a shelter (eg on a hill, on the beach, etc.) and why?

BA - I’d probably build it in the most illogical place to start off with, then learn my lesson and build it in a cave..

TW - Do you know how to make fire without matches or a lighter?

BA - I have a fair idea but I wouldn’t’ want to have to try.

TW - What would you eat? BA - Now you see why the cow’s there!!!

TW - Would you eat rats if you had to? BA - No!

TW - Know any good desert island recipes? BA - Aside from cow?

TW - Would you be more Tom Hanks ‘Castaway’ quiet and reflective or ‘Swiss Family Robinson’ styles, building elaborate treehouses and making the most of things? BA - If Toni and Tori were there we’d probably do as little as possible and probably end up starving from our own lack of practicality.

TW - What are the 3 things you would miss the most if you were stuck on an island? BA - Contact with the outside world. My friends and family and hot showers.

TW - What would be your greatest offering that would help you and the other 3 get by on the island without going insane? (eg good humour, storytelling abilities, first aid knowledge, survivor instincts, etc.)

BA - The ability to hunt, kill, cook, chop, construct and be a general outdoor-type whilst still retaining goddessness. A palate that never gets tired of coconut. Mosquito-proof skin.

TW - How would you make your escape from the island? BA - A daring rescue by three qorgeous men (one each for Tori, Toni and I) and a particularly charming bull (for the cow – if she made it) in the latest Lear Jet after a tireless search to find the lost beauties that had left the world in such darkness. Safely on the jet, we would be wined and dined with U2 playing soulful ballads composed especially for us in the background.

TW - What is the first thing that you would do upon arriving safely home again? BA - Have a shower.
