In regards to the previous ask- I was using the original japanese text of megamanV as opposed to the english text, since Sunstar’s last words changed pretty dramatically between them. In english, his death is caused by his core going critical and he says he’ll never be able to experience peace, but in the original text, he willingly blew himself up to destroy the wily star, saying, “Peace was unimaginable for us, but you, megaman, might have the power to achieve it.”

Yeah, I'm familiar with his Japanese lines, and I choose to go with the localized ones. I used to be a very 'original language version is the only valid version' fan of a lot of things, but now I'd rather pick and choose what I want to work with. I'm going to be writing my own take, anyway.

Personally, I don't agree with him destroying himself when he would have likely been strong enough otherwise to destroy the Wily Star conventionally provided he got fixed up... or, heck, Rock could have taken the time to destroy the Wily Star afterwards. At least the reason Sunstar died in the localization felt logical, if sad.

I'm a huge sucker for heroic sacrifices, but when the 'sacrifice' is needless in the context of everything else (such as there being other options), it just feels cheap and depriving a character of a future. Plus, it’s not like the games did anything emotionally with that sacrifice, either. It just kind of happened. It was just one-and-done and forgotten in time for the following games, a little diversion at best.

Again, I don't deal in the games' canon as much. I'm tired of new Mega Man games that throw away old characters to make room for new ones rather than appreciating and building on the ones we've already been given. That's why I love fan content and/or offshoots more than the main series. I'll take a new Battle&Chase or even a goofy Mario Party or WarioWare spinoff over a new installment any day.

Mega Man V Ahhh man, it's Mega Man! V for Game Boy is notoriously expensive, and I bought it a bit under for what it's going for on eBay. I got a message from @jurassicjeep12 saying that our local Zia Records had this in the shop. I contemplated a bit and decided I was going to spend the money for it lol. It's fun though!
