Though he didn't know it yet Chris Mclean was in for a shocking revelation. One of the campers is not exactly just some rando kid. This camper is his kid and she is out to expose it.
Name : Iris  Escalona
Age 16
Eye color green
Caramel skin
Black hair that she keeps in a high ponytail. A Cherokee rose on the left side of the hair tie.
Iris is 5ft 8",135lb
Out fit-White tanktop with the alchemists symbol blue acid washed jean shorts black converses
Iris has a dark sense of humor. She loves horror, pranks,is resourceful. Iris is not above smashing some skulls together. She is not quick to anger but Heather pushes a lot of her buttons.
All her life she just wanted Chris to know she was alive. Her mother never gave the reason why she left. She is the oldest of seven children.
________chapter 6_________
Chris: Last time on Total Drama Island… A talent contest brought out the worst in our campers. It was awesome! The Killer Bass struggled to find any talent on their team, and Bridgette’s clumsiness pretty much knocked out their best prospect, Courtney. Iris stood up to Heather, so Heather swore to make Iris's life miserable by stealing her diary and birth certificate. Then she read it in front of the entire viewing world, revealing that  Iris is my daughter. Then, Heather managed to save her butt by convincing the rest of the team to vote off Justin McGorgeousness. Who will be the next one to walk off this crappy dock? Find out tonight in the most dramatic marshmallow ceremony ever! On Total. Drama. Island!
Iris pov
I sat with Gwen and Leshawna waiting for my dad to arrive. "So is Chris really your dad?" Gwen asked I nod "I didn't want him to find out yet. I was waiting for the right moment to tell him myself. You know because it was my right to do so." I said Glaring at Heather.
(Confessionals)
Heather
"Oh please it will be easier to get rid of her now. They will take their anger out on her because of her dad. Oh this was just a freebi."
*static *
Iris
"That cow has another thing coming if she thinks I'm going down. She will be out before I am trust me."
(Static)
(End of Confessionals)
Chris: Campers, today’s challenge will test your outdoor survival skills. I’m not gonna lie to you. Some of you may not come back alive.[Beth and Owen gasp] Just joking. [laughs] All you have to do is spend one night in the woods. Everything you need is at your team’s campsite in the forest. You just have to find it. Oh, and watch out for bears. Lost a couple of interns in pre-production. First team back for breakfast wins invincibility! [blows airhorn] Well, off you go!
Leshawna started to freak because of bears. This was followed by Owen saying he killed a bare. Izzy the proceeds to tell a storry about her encounter with a bare. This made Lindsay sick.
We all started to walk threw the woods to find our camp. Gwen looked a bit down so Trent tried to talk to her, but she just pushed him away. It was sad because the poor guy didn't know what to do.
I hope the other team will be ok.
*Meanwhile with the Killer Bass *
Katie: Sadie, lookBlueberries.
Sadie [after she gasps] : I love, love, love blueberries!
Katie: Oh my gosh! Me too!
(Confessional: Katie & Sadie)
Katie: Sadie and I are BFFFL’s.
Sadie: Best female friends for life.
Katie: We even got the chickenpox together!
Sadie: Oh my gosh, that was so fun.
Katie: It was so fun to have someone to scratch all your little scabs!
Sadie: I know, right?(confessional off)
(Honestly those two are just idiots)
Heather was complaining about I'm the next one getting voted off. Trent asked why and she said before "Iris took Harold's ant farm and poured on me!" She growls scratching I turn to face her. "Oh really it's my fault. I only did it because you did something to me unprovoked. I warm you now do anything like that again and it won't be ants in you be next time. "
I said my finger in her face. "Come on white girl lets focus on the challenge." Leshawna said pulling me along and away from Heather.
(Meanwhile with Katie and Sadie)
Katie: Okay. Those were so yummy. Can you believe how yummy those were?
Sadie: They were so yummy. Katie, where’s the rest of the team?
Katie: I don’t know. They must be nearby. Killer Bass, where are you?!
Sadie: Killer Bass! [gasps] This is just like when we were seven and we lost our moms at the mall.
Katie: And you started to cry and the security guards had to like, page our moms and they were so mad.
Sadie: Oh my gosh, like, take a pill. We’re fine.
Katie and Sadie[shouting]: Killer Bass, where are you?!
(Back to the Gophers)
I set up the tent and make a fire brake for the camp fire. "Wow you sure know what your doing. Unlike some people who are lazing around."  Leshawna said looking at Heather. "These hands were made for shopping not camping." She said crossing her arms. Owen and Trens talk about the task and Owen leaves to get food.
(Cut to Katie and Sadie.)
Sadie: You don’t know where we are, do you?
Katie: Yes! Okay, no. It’s so not my fault. Have you ever notice that all trees look the same?
Sadie: Ooh, I knew I should have known better than to listen to you.
Katie: What, you don’t think I’m smart enough to find them?
Sadie: You’re not exactly the best with like, directions.
Katie: Yuh-huh, I am!
Sadie: Nuh-uh! Apparently, you’re not! ‘Cause we’re L-O-S-T. Lost!
Katie blows raspberry
(Back at the screaming gopher's camp)
Everyone was waiting for Owen to come back with food. Some started to complain. "Hey what are you nibbling on over there." Gwen said looking at me. "Dried mint want some." I said holding up my bag. They take some when owen comes back with fish.
(Killer Bass camp)
Geoff makes a commitment about Bridgette. It didn't come out right.
Duncan: What’s for dinner, woman? I’m starving.
Courtney: I hope you don’t expect me to dignify that with a response.
DJ: Hey guys, look what I found![ pat, pats a bunny wich coughs]
Duncan: Well, I’ve never had rabbit stew before, but what the heck? I’m game.
DJ [after he sighs] : This is my new pet! I’m callin’ him Bunny!
Courtney: You couldn’t find any food? [gasps] Then it looks like we’re acting grubs and berries for dinner.
Duncan: Has anyone seen Tweedledumb and Tweedleidiot?
[creature howls]
(Screaming Gophers camp)
Owen has the Fish grilling
Trent and him start talking.
"So you and your grampa to down a bare?" I asked
Owen: Heck yes. It was the scariest day of my entire life.[Lindsay gasps.] We were out in the woods when we came upon the great beast. I tell you, he was ten feet high if he was a foot! And then he roared his terrible roar! [imitates roar] We grabbed our shotgun. We knew it was either him or us. It was nothing personal, just the law of the wild. And then, bam! One shot was all it took to fell the great beast. We took his blood and marked ourselves to honor him. It was a good death.
Heather was a skeptical about it. We all then noticed Izzy was gone and started yelling for her.
At the Killer Bass camp Ducan was telling a horror story)
Duncan: So suddenly… They-they heard this tap-tap-tapping on the side of the car. The girl started to freak out, and by this time, even the guy was getting a bit scared. So he turned the car on and he stepped on it. When they got back to the girl’s house, she opened the door and screamed! Because there, hanging from the door handle… [sinisterly] Was the bloody hook. They say that this killer is still alive, wandering these very woods. He could be just about anywhere, really. Maybe even right here!
Killer Bass screaming.
Duncan laughs evilly.
Courtney: Duncan, that was so not funny!
Duncan: Oh, yes it was! I just wish it was all on camera! Uh, oh wait, it is!
Courtney: You are so vile. Do your parents even like you?
Duncan: I don’t know, Jumpy McChicken. I haven’t asked them lately.
[wolf howls]
Courtney gasps.
(At the Gophers camp)
In the trees everyone was arguing. That was till Leshawna fell come to find out the bare was Izzy. I jump down relived that she was ok. Once the fish was done we started to eat.
At the Killer Bass camp
Bright had to pee so she ventured out of the tent only to burn the tent down when a bat hit her face.
Courtney freaks out.
The next morning was a race back to camp when we reach it the Killer Bass were there but was pointed out that Sadie and Katie were missing. Only to have them show up a few seconds later.
Chris: All right, Killer Bass. One of your fishy butts is going home. Gophers, you’re going on an all-expense paid trip to… the Tuck Shop!
I watched the marshmallow ceremony  wanting to see who is going home.
Chris: You’ve all cast your votes The camper who does not recieve a marshmallow must immediately hit The Dock of Shame, grab the Boat of Losers, and get the heck outta here. And you can’t come back. Ever. Now. I can see you’re all tired, so tonight, I’ll just throw them to you. Savvy? Courtney. Duncan. Bridgette. DJ. Harold. Geoff. Tyler. Ladies. This is the final marshmallow of the evening. Sadie.
Sadie started to cry not wanting to let go of Katie.
I felt bad but it is what it is.
After everyone left and my dad closed the show me and him sat down and just hung out. Getting to know him is not that bad. We are kinda the same but he is more sinical than me.

Spideytorch 2018 Big Bang Art Claims
Welcome to the artist claims for the Spideytorch Big Bang! We have nine amazing fics up for claiming! A big round of applause to all of our authors – you’re all spectacular. Thank you all for participating!
Please read the summaries carefully and when you’ve selected your top picks, send an e-mail to [email protected] with the e-mail address and tumblr username you signed up with along with your first, second, and third pick. When you’ve successfully claimed a fic, you’ll be put in contact with your author. If you’re participating as an author or as an artist, please keep a close eye on your e-mail.
Claimed summaries will be crossed out, so keep an eye on this post. Claims are first come, first serve. We may be opening for double claims this year once all fics have been claimed. Thank you!
ATLANTIS
Universe: 616
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Warnings: Possible consent issues (The fic centers around Johnny entering into a fake relationship with Peter, who has not disclosed their secret identity--however Johnny quickly figures it out, but does not disclose that he knows), Namor-typical marriage proposals (i.e. Namor has a history of threatening to destroy New York if the person he has proposed to does not accept, so it should be at least considered coercive). Mild angst because Peter Parker can’t make anything easy.
Current wordcount: 12,000
Summary: When Spider-Man’s best friend Johnny Storm asks him for help in tactfully declining a marriage proposal from the King of Atlantis, Namor the Sub-Mariner, the only solution is for him to volunteer Daily Bugle photographer Peter Parker to pretend to be dating Johnny at the Engagement Banquet in Atlantis. Sure, it’s technically lying to his best friend about who Peter Parker is, but the important thing is that Johnny won’t have to marry Namor, and if Peter gets some photographs of Atlantis to sell, what’s the harm? Peter thought the most difficult thing about this scenario was going to be making sure Johnny didn’t figure out Peter is actually Spider-Man. Having to pretend he wasn’t actually falling in love with his best friend never crossed his mind.
Featuring fake relationships, forced (almost) marriages, identity porn, traditional Atlantean clothing, overly-friendly octopi, a special appearance by Eugene, The Frog-Man, and a lot more emotional baggage than originally intended.
AVATAR
Universe: Legend of Korra AU.
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences, though, depending on how the next scenes unfold, might change it to Mature.
Warnings: Lots of Avatar references, Angst, jokes nobody will get, probably some violence.
Total wordcount: ca. 15k
Summary: Growing up together both Johnny and Peter were glad with the life they were given. They go to watch pro-bending matches together, practice Johnny’s firebending abilities and discover whether or not Peter should enter the spirit world. Then the Harmonic Convergence happens, Peter’s given airbending abilities and Johnny disappears. Sue seeks Peter hoping he will be able to help her find him. He is presented with his hardest choice yet: become the airbender Johnny said he could be, or go look for the one he secretly loved most of his live?
BOYFRIEND
Universe: AU
Rating: T
Warnings: a building burns down, underage drinking, minor PTSD, minor blackmailing, gay jokes + internalized homophobia (no outright or violent homophobia), love triangles, assumed infidelity
Current wordcount: 21,400
Summary: When Peter Parker saves Johnny Storm from a burning building, he makes a difficult choice: to reveal his face to him in order to make Johnny trust him so he can get them out of that building. It does the job and he figures that's the last he'll ever see of the kid, but on his first day of senior year, who should appear but the only person in the universe who knows his secret? Peter's friends realize that Peter is behaving oddly as he attempts to avoid Johnny and Peter says the only thing he can think of, which is that he ad Johnny hooked up at a party over the summer. When Johnny finds out, he is amused and offers Peter a deal: they pretend to be in a relationship so that Johnny, who is new and only has one friend, will look like he's popular and maybe popularity will follow. Tired of his own relationship drama, Peter agrees and somehow ends up starring in a school musical, going to Halloween parties, and developing feelings he definitely did not sign up for.
HORIZON
Universe: AU
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Warnings: Temporary Character Death (of sorts)
Current wordcount: 12,100
Summary: When Peter gets caught up in a big science project, Johnny sees his best friend less and less–– and then not at all. Johnny finds himself standing outside of Horizon Labs one night, with no idea how or why he ended up there. He doesn't think much of it at first, but things just keep getting weirder after that. He can't shake off the feeling that he's forgetting something important, but what? Alternatively: the one where Peter gets erased from existence and Johnny's the only one who seems to notice that something's wrong; and in Johnny's quest to get Peter back, he discovers that New York City is in imminent danger.
INSTAGRAM
Universe: 616
Rating: Teen and Up
Warnings: Miscommunication, Secret Relationship, Social Media
Current wordcount: 12,000
Summary: Peter feels like things are finally going his way now that he and Johnny are in a relationship. One little problem: they have to keep things quiet. Peter thinks it'll be a piece of cake. He's maintained his secret identity for years, and CEO of Parker Industries is just one more mask. One thing he wasn't expecting is Johnny nearly exposing him (figuratively and literally) with weaponized hashtags and a perfectly curated Instagram account. Peter has to sit through some awkward conversations, while also figuring out how to keep Johnny's followers from finding out the identity of his new mystery man.
NEGATIVE ZONE
Universe: Canon AU from Fantastic Four #600
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: Graphic Violence, Body Horror, Human Experimentation, Death, Bugs, PTSD
Current Wordcount: 12,500
Summary: On the list of things Johnny thought he’d be doing today, stopping a full scale invasion from the Negative Zone hadn’t even made the top ten, though, admittedly with his track record it probably should have. He's just lucky Peter was here to help. They’d both made it through worse scrapes than this.  There was nothing to worry about...right?
Or: Johnny and Peter are trapped in the Negative Zone--a cruel place where Annilihus rules and you're left with the choice to either fight or die.  Featuring gladiatorial battles, bug resurrections, revolution, and oh my god, they were prisonmates.
NEW YORK
Universe: The Amazing Spider-Man (Webb movies)/Fantastic Four (2015)
Rating: Explicit
Current wordcount: 55,000
Warnings: Explicit consensual sex, canon typical violence including blood, canonical past major character death (Gwen Stacy and Franklin Storm), extensive depictions of grief/mourning, brief suicidal thoughts. Other pairings include past Peter/Gwen Stacy, brief past Peter/Harry Osborn, brief Johnny/OMC and brief past Johnny/Victor.
Summary: Central City, California, is beautiful, but it's not where Johnny wants to be -- and he's not who he wants to be, either. Inspired by the recent return of Spider-Man, Johnny convinces the newly minted Fantastic Four to return to the Baxter Building, the site of the incident that gave them their powers. But not everything is what it seems, and worse yet, Spider-Man wants nothing to do with the Human Torch.
In the wake of Gwen's death, Peter Parker has finally put the mask back on, but nothing's the same as it once was, and the thrill has gone out of Spider-Man. The Fantastic Four's arrival only makes everything worse. The Human Torch is good looking, he'll give him that much, but Peter has no plans of making friends. But a series of strange attacks and a fateful encounter on the docks may not leave him much choice.
Set post-canon for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) and Fantastic Four (2015). Johnny and Peter’s appearances are based on Michael B Jordan and Andrew Garfield. Fantastic Four (2015)’s Johnny is black and should be depicted so in the art.
STAR WARS
Universe: Star Wars AU
Rating: Teen
Warnings: Star Wars-typical violence, alcohol use, one scene of drunken making out where one of them is lying about who he is but prevents it from going further
Current wordcount: 14,000
Summary: Johnny is the younger brother of Susan Storm, first freely elected Senator of Alderaan. He's working with Sue, Reed, and Ben to foil the plot of Senator Osborn, who intends to cement his growing hold over the galaxy with the help of a weapon being developed by Reed & his lab partner, Victor von Doom. Reed finds a rebel contact and plans a hand-off for the weapon. Meanwhile, outer rim pugilist Peter Par Ker is convinced by his ex-girlfriend Felicia Har'dee to take a courier job: transporting a stolen weapon from the Senatorial Gala to her own "rebel" contacts, by infiltrating the Gala in the guise of Johnny's intended date. Featuring X-Men cameos, star wars curse words, and a much-too-convoluted combination of fake dating and assumed identity. Not featuring: a conflation of Spider-Man clones and Star Wars clones, but only because I'm saving it for the sequel.
VILLAIN
Universe: Villain! AU
Rating: Mature
Warnings: Graphic Depictions of Violence. It's canon-typical for the most part.  It would be canon-typical violence and descriptions of blood and cuts during and post fight scenes.
Current wordcount: 26,000.
Summary: Johnny knew the Spider-Man since he first moved to Manhattan. Well, he knew of him. He knew of the countless people who claimed to be mugged by the Spider-Man. Destruction and death has always been linked to his name, from Captain George Stacy to the District Attorney. And now, the deaths have turned into murders -- with red spider tracers as a breadcrumbs. But when the so-called dangerous super villain saved Johnny from being mugged in Bryant Park as a teen, Johnny wonders if the Spider-Man is as bad as everyone suggest he is.
Years later, when the Spider-Tracer Murderer is in full swing and the Fantastic Four are a welcomed part of New York, Johnny runs into the Spider-Man again. This time, he's determined to stop him. Maybe it's because he knows his true identity. Or maybe it's because Spider-Man stole Johnny's favorite jacket. Either way, they both find themselves in more trouble when another villain attacks and attempts to kidnap them both.
Through lacerations, abrasions, and bruised egos, they found their way back to the Baxter Building and found themselves falling in love with each other. But Johnny feels a little uneasy when the Spider-Tracer murders start to pick up again -- and targets villains that know about their relationship.

At a local bar, Tom, Hank, and Nancy encounter racists who refuse to serve them because Hank is African-American. Short on money, they steal groceries from a small market and are chased by two local police officers. They lose the police, and drive onto a dirt road into the woods, where they witness the murderer carrying Sandra’s corpse (covered in a sheet) into the woods. The three find a spot to camp overnight.

In the morning, Nancy goes for a walk, and returns to the campsite to witness two police officers, Luke and Abraham, arresting Hank and Tom, accusing them of murdering a local woman. They execute both of the men, and then pursue Nancy, who flees into the woods. She comes across a farmhouse, and inside finds a teenage girl, Cynthia, playing cards. She asks for a phone, and is directed to another room; when she enters, she finds the man she, Tom, and Hank saw earlier (whom she comes to find is named Cyrus) dismembering two men. She is confronted by the two police officers, who lock her in an animal cage next to another victim, Gwen Davis. In conversation, Gwen recounts Luke and Abraham’s murder of two police officers the night before, and then stealing their uniforms.
Luke, Abraham, and Cyrus return to the campsite and burn the bodies of Hank and Tom. Later, Luke goes upstairs and has a conversation with his dead mother, a decomposed corpse the family keeps in a bed. The next day, he and Abraham kidnap teenager Sharon from her backyard. Meanwhile, Bert goes to a local police station to report Nancy missing. At the farmhouse, the family conduct a Black Mass at midnight and sacrifice Sharon in the name of Satan, as Nancy and Gwen watch from their cages. Nancy prays to God as they slit Sharon’s throat before feeding her blood to their dead mother, attempting to resurrect her. They drive Sharon’s body to a field the next morning and begin digging a shallow grave, an event witnessed by Bert, who is out searching for Nancy; he hears them discuss sacrificing Nancy and Gwen on Easter.

Later, while Cynthia sacrifices Gwen at midnight, Nancy recites the Lord’s Prayer, and Luke drinks Gwen’s blood. After the Black Mass, Luke prepares to bring Gwen’s body outside, but is accosted by Bert, who clobbers him. He then holds Abraham and Cyrus at gunpoint, forcing Luke to retrieve Nancy. Just as Nancy is brought outside, Cynthia attacks Bert, stabbing him to death in the back. As he collapses, his gun fires off, shooting both Cyrus and Abraham. Nancy hides in the barn where Cynthia chases after her, not knowing exactly where she is concealing herself. However without warning, Nancy jumps out from behind her (seemingly almost out of nowhere) and in an expeditious act of revenge for the murder of her Stepfather, manages to gain the upperhand, then proceeds to slit Cynthia’s throat with a sickle.

Luke regains consciousness, but Nancy is to quick to react and subsequently pours gasoline on the ground then lights him on fire. Nancy watches helplessly with satisfaction and reassurance as he burns to death while simultaneously screaming in agony. Severely traumatized by the whole ordeal, tears of both relief, anguish and despair begin to uncontrollably roll down Nancy’s ashen face as she sighs to herself while realizing that the blood-curdling nightmare that she won’t soon, or most likely ever forget is finally over. Knowing that her life will never be the same again, she presses her back up against the wall of a nearby wooden shed, and then looks in the direction of the camera with an incredibly forlorn look on her face until the credits begin to roll.
Let’s discuss the hack-job the MPAA did to Midnight. Firstly, I know the prologue is longer and makes clearer the fact that the satanic murderers and the children in the prologue are one and the same. John A. Russo: Correct. The release prints are missing some of the exposition of the mother implanting the ideas of human sacrifices in the children’s minds. It shows her raising the children to believe in satanism.
Is that the basic reason the MPAA didn’t like it?! Because it may have promoted satanism? John A. Russo: No, there was a shot of the little girl, getting hit on the head. They thought it to be too violent…the little girl getting clubbed. The cuts make it hard for some people to realize that the family, when you see them as adults, is the same family that they saw as children. It’s very damaging to the movie. It makes the filmmakers look like jerks. The editing was necessitated by the MPAA to get the “R” rating, however it also caused us not to be able to deliver to the fans what they, by this time, expected out of a horror film, which is more explicit kinds of violence. Not that I’m a violence freak, but you do have to deliver what the fans expect within the bounds of good taste.
Another cut scene occurs during the frisbee-throwing between a husband and wife in their backyard. It’s where she is abducted by the satanists. In the release print we see the husband jokingly hide from his wife just before the satanists kidnap her. Here again, the MPAA deleted some very important footage that explains why the husband never tried to rescue his wife! John A. Russo: The husband is stabbed repeatedly trying to help his wife. You don’t ever see the knife going in because he’s laying behind a stack of logs with the killer hovering over him. It was done so well that it looks pretty brutal. As the prints stand now, the audience is thinking how could this girl be bound and gagged and slammed into a truck without her husband even looking for her!!
Tumblr media
The throat-slitting scenes were also played down. John A. Russo: All of those scenes were optically cropped. Tom Savini has taken some criticism for his effects lacking the sophistication and punch that they had in other films. We had to optically crop the shots in order to play down the effect to get the “R” rating so it’s an unfair criticism of Tom. Ray Laine, Greg Besnak and I did the effects in the last 10 minutes. The gun shots, fire and the makeups
Midnight originally ended with the female lead, Nancy, being left to die by her stepfather. Would you compare your original concept with the revision? John A. Russo: In the first draft of the screenplay, originally titled The Congregation. I had the stepfather come back and save her. I was about half way through writing that ending when it occurred to me that it would be more in character to abandon her and save his own hide. So I wrote the novel that way. I turned around and wrote the screenplay with the stepfather leaving her to die.
You shot that ending? John A. Russo: We shot it that way. When Sam Sherman and Dan Kennis saw the first edit, they were very happy with the film. But Sam said it would be nice to have an action-packed ending and let the stepfather come back and save Nancy. He said this being a film rather than a book, it would pay the audience off more to see the bad guys get it. He said that one of the things the MPAA looks for in granting ratings is redeeming social value. He was afraid that if the bad guys didn’t get it in the end or one of the good characters wasn’t saved, we would have an impossible time getting an “R” rating no matter how much of the violence was cut. So there were several reasons for shooting the new ending and I was glad to do it. I saw Sam’s reasoning there. I like the ending myself. For a low-budget movie it does give you a lot of action. There’s about 10 minutes of action there. It’s more than you might find in a lot of low-budget films.
Well, Midnight gave me the chance to work with John Russo (co-writer of Night of The Living Dead) and a long time friend of George’s. I was introduced to Russo through Raymond Laine, a friend of mine from the Playhouse…who worked with George in the early days and who played the lead in There’s Always Vanilla (1971). I haven’t revisited Midnight since it was first shot, but fans tell me they like it. John Amplas (Abraham)
I still prefer the book ending. John A. Russo: Well, that ending has a lot to recommend it. She was in that cage praying and we just held on that shot. We were going to freeze it. We had all these weird sounds, the satanists’ black-mass sounds and insane cries that Paul McCollough came up with which were actually cries of baboons! It had such an eerie effect when we threw some reverb on it and mixed it in with the black mass sounds. With that shot holding for so long, it really sunk into your mind that this girl was doomed. All her faith and religiosity didn’t save her. Evil had triumphed…which often does! It was the same thing in NOLD where we had the same argument of whether anybody should be saved. In the first draft we actually had Barbara being rescued by the sheriff. We went for the more shocking ending and it turned out to be the right decision because that’s what makes the audience walk out of the theatre feeling appalled and crushed…but they’re thinking!
Tumblr media
What is your opinion of Midnight as a whole? John A. Russo: It think it’s a darn good job for the money. For $70,000, I don’t think there is anybody else that’s done as good a job for that kind of money, frankly. I think you could give any of the recognized names that would look at this picture and put it down-you give them $70,000, and they wouldn’t do as good a job. And the people in the industry who’ve seen it, well, they can’t believe it. Until they know the budget, they say, ‘Well why didn’t you do this or that or that?” But once they know the budget, they say, “Jesus Christ, there’s nobody doing anything for that!” The only way we could have done more was to shoot in 16mm and blow it up. Perhaps we should have shot 16mm because then, content-wise, it would have been a much better picture. Of course you would have a grainier looking release print. Another thing I’d like to say about Midnight is that when I wrote the script back in 1977, and even while the film was being made, most of the pictures like Friday the 13th and Halloween and the whole glut of those pictures hadn’t happened yet! So once Midnight was released last year, a lot of things that would have frightened an audience, well, by the time they saw Midnight, they’d seen those things 15 times already. If Midnight could have come out when it was first written, it would have had more impact. When your movie comes out late, you get accused of imitation when that’s not the case. Fang: Do you have a steady group of film people with whom you prefer to work? Russo: Well, my relationship with Sam Sherman and Dan Kennis at Independent International Pictures has been excellent. We’re anxious to work together again. They have a lot of talent and expertise as distributors and we’re trying to get other projects going, with a little bigger budgets. On the production end, I have a small group of really dedicated and talented people from cinematographer and editor, Paul McCollough, Ray Laine who is a casting director and production manager, Eric Baca who is an excellent sound engineer, and John Rice, the assistant cinematographer and lighting man.

2018 Second Art Claims
Due to interest and the number of artist sign-ups, we’re opening a second round of claims for the 2018 Spideytorch Big Bang. Because of how fast claims initially went, for the first 24 hours we’re only allowing artists who have not already claimed a story to illustrate to claim a summary. After the 24 hour hold is over, anyone who has signed up as an artist can claim a second fic if they wish. Thank you to all participants!
Like with initial claims, to claim a fic please e-mail your first, second, and third picks to [email protected], along with the e-mail and username you signed up with.
Summaries repeated under the cut:
ATLANTIS
Universe: 616
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Warnings: Possible consent issues (The fic centers around Johnny entering into a fake relationship with Peter, who has not disclosed their secret identity–however Johnny quickly figures it out, but does not disclose that he knows), Namor-typical marriage proposals (i.e.
It does the job and he figures that’s the last he’ll ever see of the kid, but on his first day of senior year, who should appear but the only person in the universe who knows his secret? Peter’s friends realize that Peter is behaving oddly as he attempts to avoid Johnny and Peter says the only thing he can think of, which is that he ad Johnny hooked up at a party over the summer. When Johnny finds out, he is amused and offers Peter a deal: they pretend to be in a relationship so that Johnny, who is new and only has one friend, will look like he’s popular and maybe popularity will follow.
He doesn’t think much of it at first, but things just keep getting weirder after that. He can’t shake off the feeling that he’s forgetting something important, but what? Alternatively: the one where Peter gets erased from existence and Johnny’s the only one who seems to notice that something’s wrong; and in Johnny’s quest to get Peter back, he discovers that New York City is in imminent danger.
INSTAGRAM
Universe: 616
Rating: Teen and Up
Warnings: Miscommunication, Secret Relationship, Social Media
Current wordcount: 12,000
Summary: Peter feels like things are finally going his way now that he and Johnny are in a relationship. One little problem: they have to keep things quiet. Peter thinks it’ll be a piece of cake. He’s maintained his secret identity for years, and CEO of Parker Industries is just one more mask. One thing he wasn’t expecting is Johnny nearly exposing him (figuratively and literally) with weaponized hashtags and a perfectly curated Instagram account. Peter has to sit through some awkward conversations, while also figuring out how to keep Johnny’s followers from finding out the identity of his new mystery man.
He’s just lucky Peter was here to help. They’d both made it through worse scrapes than this.  There was nothing to worry about…right?
Or: Johnny and Peter are trapped in the Negative Zone–a cruel place where Annilihus rules and you’re left with the choice to either fight or die.  Featuring gladiatorial battles, bug resurrections, revolution, and oh my god, they were prisonmates.
NEW YORK
Universe: The Amazing Spider-Man (Webb movies)/Fantastic Four (2015)
Rating: Explicit
Current wordcount: 55,000
Warnings: Explicit consensual sex, canon typical violence including blood, canonical past major character death (Gwen Stacy and Franklin Storm), extensive depictions of grief/mourning, brief suicidal thoughts. Other pairings include past Peter/Gwen Stacy, brief past Peter/Harry Osborn, brief Johnny/OMC and brief past Johnny/Victor.
Summary: Central City, California, is beautiful, but it’s not where Johnny wants to be – and he’s not who he wants to be, either. Inspired by the recent return of Spider-Man, Johnny convinces the newly minted Fantastic Four to return to the Baxter Building, the site of the incident that gave them their powers. But not everything is what it seems, and worse yet, Spider-Man wants nothing to do with the Human Torch.
In the wake of Gwen’s death, Peter Parker has finally put the mask back on, but nothing’s the same as it once was, and the thrill has gone out of Spider-Man. The Fantastic Four’s arrival only makes everything worse. The Human Torch is good looking, he’ll give him that much, but Peter has no plans of making friends.
He’s working with Sue, Reed, and Ben to foil the plot of Senator Osborn, who intends to cement his growing hold over the galaxy with the help of a weapon being developed by Reed & his lab partner, Victor von Doom. Reed finds a rebel contact and plans a hand-off for the weapon. Meanwhile, outer rim pugilist Peter Par Ker is convinced by his ex-girlfriend Felicia Har'dee to take a courier job: transporting a stolen weapon from the Senatorial Gala to her own “rebel” contacts, by infiltrating the Gala in the guise of Johnny’s intended date. Featuring X-Men cameos, star wars curse words, and a much-too-convoluted combination of fake dating and assumed identity. Not featuring: a conflation of Spider-Man clones and Star Wars clones, but only because I’m saving it for the sequel.
VILLAIN
Universe: Villain! AU
Rating: Mature
Warnings: Graphic Depictions of Violence. It’s canon-typical for the most part.
And now, the deaths have turned into murders – with red spider tracers as a breadcrumbs.
This time, he’s determined to stop him. Maybe it’s because he knows his true identity. Or maybe it’s because Spider-Man stole Johnny’s favorite jacket. Either way, they both find themselves in more trouble when another villain attacks and attempts to kidnap them both.
Through lacerations, abrasions, and bruised egos, they found their way back to the Baxter Building and found themselves falling in love with each other. But Johnny feels a little uneasy when the Spider-Tracer murders start to pick up again – and targets villains that know about their relationship.
