˚₊‧🔪WELCOME TO MY YANDERE BLOG! I mainly make content for my own original characters and occasionally, fandom related stuff. This blog is strictly 16+ and run by two people.

My name is Kiki (She/Her) and I am 18+. I’m the one that mainly provides the art and bots that you’ll find throughout this blog and sometimes, I write headcanons/imagines as well. My writer is Rose (She/Her, 18+) and she’s responsible for writing the fanfictions and some of the drabbles. We started this blog because we had numerous ideas for yandere characters. Given my background as an artist and Rose's talent as a writer, it seemed like a natural fit. DRAFT LEARNING AGREEMENT

To illustrate the evolution of my learning agreement, I documented versions featuring substantial changes. This practice facilitated referencing to assess the success or shortcomings of each iteration. Despite my initial satisfaction with one version, upon revisiting it and engaging in discussions with my critical buddy Leia, I identified it as overly lengthy and detailed. Subsequently, I refined the version I ultimately submitted, affording me greater freedom to explore aspects like audience, narrative theory, and critical contexts in a more concise manner. While I had content for each of these elements, I recognised the need for a more refinement, anticipating that in-depth analysis could be undertaken later in the process.

This one particularly focused on the highlighting of the 5 w's and 1 h along with this I tried to link in the LO'S.

FINAL MAJOR PROJECT BRIEF 

Synopsis of study   

'Sound often cannot be linguistically transcribed fully, but it can be surprisingly well notated through the communally agreed upon methods of music and graphic notations.' Vernallis, C. (2004) P.176.  

To cater and enhance the audiences' understanding of a specific musical materials concept I will be creating promotional material such as posters, videos and interactive pieces featuring and interpreting David Ward's song 'Freewheeling' (2023). I have a goal to evoke a range of emotions through visuals while improving upon my use of composition in both physical and digital works. This endeavor is a challenge to leverage various Adobe software tools and create a high-quality set of materials that visually narrate the song.  

Tailored for a diverse audience, yet honing in on a specific persona like Sarah Johnson—a 23-year-old enthusiast of films, food, and art. Sarah values visually stimulating content that invites thoughtful interpretation. Emphasising accessibility, the objective is to provide a distinctive and captivating experience, catering to individuals who may not have a strong inclination towards the arts but can still discover value in the fusion of music and visuals. Therefore, it benefits both the music artist through more people discovering his music and stimulating the target audience. 

The song's narrative revolves around an individual joyfully riding a bike, intermingled with moments of doubt and self-awareness. The lyrics, starting with 'Underneath a gold sun,' set the journey's initial tone, while the conclusion hints at impending challenges near the ending with 'lightning and thunder starts.' Despite the bike serving as a sanctuary, disruptive thoughts emerge, creating a contrast with the initial happiness. 

To convey these emotions, I will use theories such as semiotics Hall, S. (2012) and primary metaphor Hampe, B. (2017). Visual elements and typography will be manipulated to depict the evolving mood. For instance, the use of weather as a metaphorical device could be explored through experimenting (LO2) with different states of weather to mirror the emotional shifts in the song.  

The goal is to produce a cohesive and industry-standard body of work that would be useful for a portfolio piece. Which would capture the attention of individuals or companies.  

To evidence LO1, I will engage in extensive tasks, including academic research through the available library resources including articles, eBooks and librarian advice. Additionally, I will explore contemporary design found in social media and web pages. During this stage of development, I will consider how it could benefit critical contexts such as social benefits. Finally, personal research will involve interviewing the musician to have a clear understanding of the concept therefore giving me scope to explore the use of narrative theories while analysing and developing my work. This research will all inform my practice and viewpoint.  

Linking to LO4 Critical reflection will be facilitated through discussions with peers, seeking feedback from tutorials, lecturers, and workshop specialists to refine and select the most suitable approaches. Alongside this, I will use Figure 1 as a tool for self-reflection. The refinement phase will involve a combination of digital screenshots/recordings and physical tests proofs to document improvement in accuracy. 

Aims  

I aim to provide opportunities to allow me to source information and gain knowledge from the diverse forms of rigorous research that is required to undertake and manage my major project. 

I want to be able to exercise and enhance my knowledge and abilities in developing a body of creative work and technically competent work for my chosen study. 

I plan to apply the advanced level of time management required to develop a significant body of work. 

I will work independently with supervision from tutorials and peers. Allowing myself to develop and document my practice and show understanding of contemporary professional practice and audience.

i just wanna say to the vtuber space (and ig any online or otherwise space), mostly bc i saw a post from someone on twitter saying how bad the vtuber space is RIGHT NOW but this goes like.. as a general rule ALL the time: u have GOT to curate ur spaces.

the online/content creator/streamer/vtuber space/communities is not any different than it's ever been. there is ALWAYS going to be drama, bad/hot takes from people too terminally online to think critically on any matter ever, inevitable parasocial relationships, people who for some reason think they can dictate what counts as a 'real vtuber' (or creator) or not and unfortunately, frequent call-out posts bc for some reason we've gotten to the point where people can't resolve or step away from things behind the scenes anymore and think it's a better idea to rally their fans to 'resolve' issues.

PLEASE. make your space fit for YOU. it doesn't matter what space ur in online or irl, if something feels negative and harmful, u have got to learn how to not allow it within your space or correct behaviors of ur own to not engage with stuff that doesn't feel beneficial.

stop doomscrolling socials; there's always drama in one form or another and socials are preying on u via rage baiting or drama baiting to get u worked up enough to engage with it. it. will. burn. u. out. i promise. (i had to step away from tiktok bc it's so toxic it was eating my life away and making me feel awful.. i miss the fun but it's so Yuck).

be wary of who u associate with. i would think by now it's fairly well known there's a lot of bad actors within content creator spaces (quite frankly, i've not had many 1 on 1 interactions with a lot of other creators and just about ALL of them have been bad..) don't blindly trust anyone and everyone and don't ignore even the smallest red flag if something feels off about someone. there's been far too many abusers and creeps in these spaces to not be wary of even the nicest appearing people.

please, PLEASE do not pay attention to people's rude, negative and nonsense comments. if ur not doing anything that's harmful or hurting urself or others, who fucking cares what kinda vtuber u are, what opinions u have about this or that, what things u like or dislike OR IF UR SINGLE OR NOT. there are NO RULES to how u create ur vtuber or space. do whatever is fun for u and brings u joy. i promise u, there is an audience out there for EVERYONE. don't try to squish yourself in a box to cater to people who don't care enough about u to even be kind. ignore them, block them and move on.

don't bring any further attention to them bc often that's exactly what they want and in this environment where no one knows how to NOT DOX, HARASS AND THREATEN PEOPLE, even if u think ur community could never be capable of that, there's always gonna be at least one person who might not be so obviously reasonable enough to not attack someone else for negative comments online. unless ur being actively threatened, just don't engage, don't bring attention to it, move on.

that goes for any interaction ur not comfortable with as well. u do not have to put up with people who don't make u feel safe and comfortable. it doesn't matter if what they did was a 'little' offense or not, u can block them if it makes u comfortable. (this is something i struggle with sometimes as well bc i'm too nice to people;) this obviously includes parasocial relationships as well.

unfortunately, i'm not sure if there's a perfect answer for avoiding parasocial relationships other than often reminding ur community that u do not want to be viewed or interacted with that way but that of course is not a guaranteed deterrent. really, all anyone can do is hope they're doing their best to communicate well and staying safe.

everything else that was mentioned was basically the cost, time and effort it takes to be a vtuber and really, any kind of hobby/content creation is going to take all of these things. if u want to be a video creator or editor, if u want to be an artist making videos or gallery content, if u want to do cosplay/pottery/metalsmithing/skateboarding/photography etc, everything is going to cost at the very least the price of materials or equipment plus whatever extra u want to use to make ur particular content 'unique'. programs, assets, editing labor from others, etc.

video and streaming content is probably on the higher end of expensive hobbies but that's bc u need good/a lot of equipment to handle running a stream, games, a camera, interactive programs, (for vtubers) a model; not to mention if ur not an artist and want a good/higher end model/assets/overlays and tracking, models and tracking equipment gets very expensive the more professional u get.

with all that being noted, pls know.. by no means is a lot of money needed to START vtubing. don't be fooled into thinking anyone who's established or well off today started that way. EVERYONE started with low cost or budget things and many, even multiple channels till the one they have currently stuck. if it's something that interests u and u feel capable of handling negative experiences when they happen (bc they will happen but i promise, u get better at handling them and standing up for the values of ur space) don't be deterred by veterans in the space saying how bad the environment of it all is 'currently'. it can be very fun/rewarding when u get to a point of familiarity and 'success' (whatever defines success for u).

the nature of any online spaces have always been and always will be the way it is (the internet is HUGE; this one teeny tiny isolated bubble in it's particular problems and drama compared to everything outside of it), u just have to figure out a way to separate urself from the negatives and curate ur specific bubble of space to ur liking and hold ur audience and followers to the same standards.

if the cost and work it takes to do this seems like it's not for u but u already participate in enjoying others for entertainment, pls make sure to give them a lil extra appreciation bc it IS a lot of work at times. setting up and troubleshooting fun things for interactivity alone is a lot of work but also if someone is working on failing or faulty equipment and still trying to keep things going for y'all, it can be really draining and stressful to depend on unreliable equipment interfering with plans and schedules.

as for whoever was upset on twitter over things, i am truly sorry they feel stressed and burnt out from what they do. i think some of it is a collective 'online too much and the nature of socials is forming bad habits in everyone' and just a 'it's okay to take breaks sometimes. it doesn't have to be grind, time all the time'. obviously that becomes a bit more difficult to come to grips w/ if u rely on vtubing for income but breaks are needed nonetheless.

but i don't think it's the 'space' of anything being the definitive 'bad' (yes, there is a lot of bad happening all the time and it should not be but if anyone waited for the collective cleansing of online as a whole before they did anything, no one would ever start anything bc it's not going to happen) bc i don't see much different in how things are/now than any other spaces at any other time.

i, personally, simply cannot take seeing call-outs and drama coverage of some new abusive creep in the space every single day and i choose to try to stay out of it as much as i can (other than becoming familiar with names that may need to be avoided) bc it does pull u down a rabbit hole of anxiety and despair to see so much yuck happening within a space that u want to be positive, wholesome and fun.

The image that I chose is an advertisement, in the form of a mural that is partially on one side of a wall corner, that I found online that depicts a scenario that is cleverly split in such a way that you have to turn the corner to see the other side to get the full picture/perspective. This is clever because the primary audience is quite large given that this is likely a public street corner in a busy city where many hundreds or even thousands of people walk past it. Also, the main message is not necessarily about the context of the image but rather to drive home the idea that BBC World are potentially a good choice for a news outlet to watch because they let you see "both sides of the story". It is not only an eye-catching advertisement, as the context of the image also appears to take place in a similar physical context to the street that it is on, which is a very intentional information architecture design.

The image I chose is an example of my data/analytics from one of my Instagram profiles. I chose this because it is a classic example of what kind of data many individuals my age are focusing on in terms of their audience reach and interactions on social media. This is data because Instagram automatically collects information about the average number of interactions, likes, follows, etc. that people have had with my account over a certain period, allowing me to further analyze the demographics of people who interact with my profile. This allows me to better understand what type of people are usually consuming my content, which then helps me cater my content to these people, as well as broaden my horizons to try to touch base with different demographics who may have fewer interactions with my profile.

Children’s Media, media for the children by the children! Except it often is neither. Children’s media despite catering to a very specific demographic very often overlooks the needs and more importantly wants of its audience which is maybe why children’s shows can sometimes find themselves more prevalent amongst an entirely different audience. Childhood as a concept was first identified in the 1980s within the newly emerging area of childhood studies (Berriman). A great example of childhood as a social construct  is childhood innocence. The belief in a child’s inherent innocence (Berriman) plays a huge role in designing children’s media. As a child I felt a lot of shame and guilt surrounding the media I consumed as adults around me would constantly question my viewing choices. The moral panic around protecting this supposed innocence is not completely unfounded, surely there are certain subjects unfit for those with yet to develop brains and limited critical thinking. Still,I take issue with the censorship of darker subject matter in children’s media as I believe, having debunked the notion of childhood innocence (Berriman) it makes sense that children who share the same sometimes dark and twisty world we live in hope to navigate and unpack these difficult topics in the media they consume. An excellent example of this would be the numerous Tiktok skits created to show the expectations vs. realities of how children play.

In this specific Tiktok the woman imitates the countless harrowing plotlines that children would come up with while at the park. She pretends to be lice on a head of hair, orphans begging on the street and many more in a series she has dubbed “Girlhood”. With over half a million views and currently over 100 thousand likes in only four days it is clear that this concept resonates with a lot of people, myself included. “The children yearn for tragedy” (@alexarowe11) writes user harvardhousing, a comment that now has nearly a thousand likes as well demonstrating how this clearly is not an isolated incident and when comparing these video skits to the type of content produced for young children there is an undeniable difference.

Channels like this one that provide lifestyle content are a great example of young people taking charge of the media space. All this to say that a variety in children’s media is sorely needed. While shows like Strawberry Shortcake are important for growing children to learn to develop their conflict resolution skills in a kind manner I feel it is vital to also show the reality of the situation alongside that as well. Having multiple different types of media can ensure a better understanding of both how people should act and how people often do, the dichotomy of which can sometimes be confusing to those who are still learning about the world. 

I feel it is also important to provide different genres of children’s media rather than just have it be its own genre. Movies like Coraline or Monster House can be great examples of children’s horror. That’s right children want to see horror too! Children are not passive consumers of media but rather active participants who wish to see their world and identity represented the same way adults do.
