Zine topic prompt list! 

I'm partnering with the wonderful @void-flesh to bring you the My Chemical Romance Zine Challenge! Get creating with some DIY zine-ing and share your art and words with your friends! Use the tag #MCRzine or @mcrzines so that we can boost your work!

You can create a whole zine solo, or partner with friends for something collaborative :)

We encourage physical zines, but in order to make work accessible as physical copies even for people in places where shipping ain't cheap, we also encourage PRINT IT YOURSELF zines, with files set up for readers to print at home! 

Some notes: 

This is not a contest, or a time limited challenge! This is just to spark people's creativity! 

Related to above: you don’t need to submit anything to us - these are your personal projects! - but we’d love to be tagged so we can see what you made and boost your work!

Polished and professionally printed zines may be cool, but we are encouraging more DIY kinds of work. It's okay if you just have sharpies, glue, and your grandpa's busted xerox machine! Or perhaps the copy machine at your school is unattended? 

Wanna find more examples of others' MCR zines? At @mcrzines I aim to archive My Chemical Romance fanzine history through reblogs and sharing information. Feel free to take a gander! And @void-flesh is working on collecting and archiving physical zines, so get in touch there if you want to add your paper copy to the archive!

CREATING AN ARCHIVE OF MCR ZINES

Hi! I'm @cancan-jpg , and I'm interested in preserving the history of DIY media!

That's why I'm putting together this blog - an informal collection of My Chemical Romance fanzines, past and current, physical and digital, free and paid, to document this fandom's history of creation and collaboration!

Currently, this mostly involves reblogging info posts to document each one that exists, or general posts about MCR zines - both those already published, and those seeking submissions. For now, I'll be focusing on collaborative zines in order to stay comprehensive, though I hope to branch out to single-person zines in future!

my piece for @mcrswarmzine ! :) had so much fun making this and being a part of this wonderful project <3 i wanted to convey how a lot of us were only able to see the shows through streams and frantic liveblogging, but how even from thousands of miles away it still felt like we were part of it :3

Excited to post the piece I illustrated for @mcrswarmzine inspired by MCR's reunion tour show in Albany, NY on August 30th, 2022!

This show was my first time seeing the band since their last show at Bamboozle 2012 and it was truly one of the best nights of my life. <3

I'm so grateful to have been a small part of this project. So much love and effort went into the making of this zine and it shows. It is so meticulously crafted and considered and has so many beautiful artwork, writing, and interviews.

Digital copies are still available at their website and all proceeds will go to the charity Black and Pink.

I love My Chemical Romance and their fan base eternally ✨
