My piece for @mcrswarmzine! A mini comic about becoming who you were always meant to be. Like many teenagers in the 00's, I had very little exposure to queer art and culture. I grew up in a small coastal town in New Zealand, surrounded by natural beauty. By contrast, I could not have felt uglier - inside and out.

I turned on the TV after school one day and caught the tail end of the music video for 'I'm Not Okay'. For the first time I heard and saw an expression of the angst and anguish already swirling about in my monstrous adolescent body. I knew then I wanted to be an artist and musician. I didn't yet know why I couldn't see myself in the mirror.

My Chemical Romance meant everything to me.

As I stood at the barrier for their first show in Auckland in a decade, I realised that it was coincidentally my ten-year anniversary of starting hormones.

Some things change a great deal, others never do. I was transported back to my parent's living room that night and hopefully got across that special feeling on my page!

LIVE, LAUGH, LAUNCH! We’re beyond excited to reveal that pre-orders for SWARM: Answering the Call, a new charity zine created by and for fans of My Chemical Romance as a tribute to the band's incredible 2022-23 world tour, are officially OPEN for the month of October!

We have put together a massive project with the help of 127 incredible artists and 35 incredible writers, who created original pieces for all 70 shows on the tour, resulting in a zine that is over 250 pages long. But we didn't stop there. Our exclusive interviews with tour photographer Mark Beemer, costume designer Marina Toybina, and @themcrarchive are our gift to you–and trust us when we say, it’s been hard to keep these a secret.

So there's this one zine...

As you can tell by me spamming posts about it here, i did a page for @mcrswarmzine this summer! It's about my hectic 2022 mcr show experience in Warsaw, and i think it reflects my feelings about that well.

Idk there's something about seeing your art printed in a book that changes you as a person (i'm yet to get mine in the mail though)

after literal ages its finally time to post my @mcrswarmzine contribution!!

my date was eden project 1, and it was such an honor to be able to make something for what was essentially the first date of the swarm tour :') i wanted to capture that feeling of the band rising from the rubble of their previous eras and creating something new and beautiful, while still being those 'kids from yesterday'

also it was so fun working alongside such great artists, some of whom ive admired from afar for ages, and seeing the zine slowly come together!

i hope you guys will enjoy reading it as much as we all did working on it <3

here is my piece for @mcrswarmzine !! i made a collage for bonn night 2, based on the drumhead. this show is very very special to me, so i cant believe the forces that be landed me here. thank you to the mods for their unbelievable management :))

i got my physical copy and it is sooo beautiful. im so happy this exists. you can still get the digital here, so check it out !! so much art so much writing! and the interviews with marina toybina and mark beemer are total revelations. all proceeds go to the charity black and pink :)

Hey, remember us? We've been busy.

For the past few months, the SWARM Zine team has been hard at work editing, designing, and finalizing this incredible fan project for what is sure to be a triumphant launch. It's looking great, and we couldn't be prouder of our contributors and our team. We'll reveal more soon, but in the meantime we're excited to unveil our cover design!
