Theory: Carmilla would be Eve?
Among so many crazy theories (and I love it!) after this season, I'm going to bring my (crazy) theory. As the title already reveals, what if Carmilla Carmine was our missing Eve? Before you throw hate, here are some points:
-In some versions of the myth of the creation of Adam and Eve, Eve was condemned to hell (while Adam went to heaven). If the series goes down this path, the character wouldn't be in heaven;
-Carmilla's name: Originated from Hebrew culture. Carmila/Carmela/Carmilla/Carmile means garden, orchard. Well... I don't think it would be too much of a coincidence for the name to mean that (garden... Garden of Eden...).
-Eve was created from Adam's rib. Here I come up with the theory that the exorcist angels guided by Adam (including Vaggie) were created from his ribs (like Eve). This would explain the similarity in appearance of Vaggie, Lute and Carmilla.
--Carmilla's personality: she is super protective! The super mom of the series (so far). It is to be expected that Adam's second wife, mother of humanity, would be maternal./ "but she was presented as the mother of only two characters" man, she still seemed super worried about the day of extermination (she called a meeting with the Overlords precisely to think of ways to stop this), after all, the sinners were their descendants! (I'm not going to talk here about Adam's relationship with sinners, that would be worth another post) And, the same time, the exorcists would be like her sisters who she was reluctant to kill. I would also like to add here, I think Zestial could be Cain (one of his main sons and, precisely, the first sinner, as he killed his other brother Abel), this would explain the affection that Carmilla has for Zestial and for them both being the oldest Overlords! (Cain died before Eve in many versions of the myth) /Sure, they might just be good friends, but to me it made a lot of sense, my bad
-Her appearance: I've already commented on her resemblance to Vaggie (the two even duet two songs, expressing similar feelings), but now let's compare her appearance with her hair down with Eve's silhouette in the first episode (just look at the image I posted here) , it's identical! And of course, the second wife would have to be beautiful, and Carmilla is said to be beautiful.
--"ok but it is much more likely that she was one of the exorcist angels, taking into account her appearance and knowledge, why would Eve have an appearance similar to these angels?" Precisely because they came/were born from the same place, Adam's ribs! When Eve died, her demonic form still assumed that of a beautiful woman with large hands (representing her need to be able to hold, care for and hug everyone). Maybe Adam knew or didn't know how Eve was doing, and made his female army similar to his ex-wife (For me, this part would have several possibilities, like, him purposely making the appearance of the exorcists or it would just be because they were all born from the same place)
-In the final episode, when the news reports about what happened at the Hotel, the reactions of several characters appear, and there was one (emphasis?) in Carmilla's reaction to Adam's death (I imagine that, because she was against the extermination of sinners (her descendants) while her ex-husband, who lived in heaven, led this extermination, she should not have good feelings towards him).
Final note: Even if she is not Eve, probably she was one of the exorcist angels (as many already theorize), as she knew about the angelic weapons, knew of Vaggie's identity and her appearance.
(Sorry if there are a lot of grammatical errors, English is not my native language)

Hazbin Hotel Adam Speech
Okay, I've been mulling over since the finale, but Adam was a bit of a disappointment. I like how Adam is portrayed, but not because of who he is, but because of the Voice Actor, his songs, how funny he is (mostly because almost everyone in the main cast is so barebones with character, and no, the pilot does not count). I didn't like it because of how much of a dick he was, and how one sided the argument feels. Okay, Adam is suppose to display "Heaven isn't as great as it sounds" but the show never brought up how much he was screwed over, not just with Lilith and Eve, but Cain and Abel, and maybe the extermination had a point. I mean, Hell is full of horrible people who deserve to be killed. The show doesn't try to look at things from multiple perspectives; Charlie has to be right, the sinner should be redeemed, but it never asks if they deserve to be redeemed, it talks about the lives of the sinners when they were alive. I think Adam would work better if he had a point, gung ho for killing Demons, but not because he's sadistic, I mean that could be part of it, but also because he thinks what he's doing is righteous, maybe a foil to Charlie. If you are going to keep the vulgar behavior, maybe save it for the sinners and Charlie, and when he's in Heaven, he's respectful and nice to everyone there. I have this speech in mind, in my HH, he says it in the season 2 finale (Season 1 is reserved to the Vs and Lucifer, partially, (that's another can of worms) and Season 2 explores Heaven.)
(Adam is sitting by himself, his helmet off, mentally preparing himself. Lute walks up to him.)
Lute: You ready, sir.
Adam: As ready as I'll ever be.
Lute: I don't like this, sir, it's too dangerous.
Adam: It needs to be done. I can trust you to take care of things, right? (Lute is silent) Right?
Lute: Yes, Adam.
(Adam hugs Lute.)
Adam: I don't know if I say this enough, but... I'm glad to have you by my side.
(Lute hugs him back. Adam leaves, presenting himself to the army of Exortcists. He materiallizes a microphone with holy energy.)
Adam: Ladies, exorcists, you all know what today is, Extermination Day (They cheer), the day where we impart our righteous fury on that ruined plane!!! (They cheer) But this is a special case, before we destroy every Demon on sight, we are to destroy (he makes the hotel appear with Charlie) this hotel!!! (They boo it.) This hotel stands as the antithesis of what Heaven stands for, the resting place for the righteous and the just!!! Do you think these sinners deserve to be in Heaven?!!!
Exorcists: NO!!!!
Adam: Well this Princess does, she thinks that these sinners should have a second chance to be better people, do you agree with that?!!!!
Exorcists: NO!!!!
Adam: They had their chance on Earth!!! They earned their damnation, they earned their eternal torment, they earned their second death by our BLADES!!!! (They cheer while holding up their weapons.) We will kill every Demon that resides in that forsaken place, we will tear that building apart brick by brick, we will burn it to ashes in holy fire, are you with me?!!!!
Exorcists: YES!!!!
Adam: THEN, (he puts on the Helmet) LET'S RAZE HELL!!!!!
(He opens the portal and everyone goes in.)
I have other ideas for how I wanted the show to go, but what do you think of how Adam is portrayed here. I'm very proud of the "Raze Hell" line.

Ok, so... I like Hazbin Hotel buuuuuut I was very surprised that Heaven played as big of a role as it did in season 1.
Personally, that felt like the end game and once Charlie finally got to try and talk with them directly, then the goal post would shift as her naïve view (that divine judgement is just and so good people automatically get into heaven / people can move there if they change for the better) starts to change as she's seen many sinners improve and be refused, alongside characters such as Adam prove that questionable people and actions are permitted in Heaven. It would feel tragic and frustrating after seeing our cast grow and endure hardship to do so, only for their original goal to perhaps not be attainable in the way they once thought.
Instead, for season 1 at least (if not longer if possible), I feel a more Hell-centred narrative would be better. Showing how Hell normal opperates, the day to day struggles, the politics, and the aftermath of the exterminations disrupting it all. Though our care and focus will obviously be mostly on the main cast, I think it's important that we should care about sinners the way Charlie does (or at least understand why she sees them that way).
Tumblr media
Instead of explaining the exterminations and Hell through a storybook monologue, I think a purely visual intro would set the stage better. Like a mix between the intro in the pilot and the openning scene from Arcane episode 1.
Have a relatively intact Hell be seen before the extermination. Oddly barren, with some stragglers who probably died in the last couple days so they wouldn't know about the extermination in time, along with sinners deliberately staying out in a desperate bid to leave the afterlife (maybe show a contract / chains dissipate between them an another sinner when they're killed in the extermination. Quick, but foreshadowing a. Soul contracts and b. How desperate a sinner might be to escape one, which c. Could also act as a hint to Angel's and Husk's mental state once their situation comes to light, or at least have us hope it doesn't come to that).
The extermination would be swift and cause so much destruction so quickly that the rubble would cloud the city like fog until after it's over. More like a bombing campaign (like with Adam's holy light) than an exorcist massacre alone. Then we see Pentagram city in ruins.
I also agree that having it known (especially by Charlie) that the exterminations are a means to control Hell's population from uprising against Heaven, rather than to limit Hell's OVER population makes the premise of Hazbin Hotel seem a bit redundant. Plus, having it questioned WHY so many people are ending up in Hell would be something I wished was actually brought up rather than only focussing on what it takes to get people who are already in Hell into Heaven. People stuck in Hell not sure exactly what they did wrong and leading relatively peaceful afterlives doing nothing to harm other sinners. Leading to a later revision of the more arbitrary rules in the Bible such as not wearing mixed fabrics, not being gay * (it's debated whether or not the bible actually says anything against being lbgt, however homophobia and transphobia are rampent enough in many Christian sects that it would be worth critiquing the ridiculous lengths to which Christians shun those who don't conform and twist the bible's text to suit whatever they currently believe), not eating certain foods, etc.
Those are my main points so far. Might get around to doing a fanfic-y re-writing of season 1.
Again, I love the show as is but man is it janky. I do love janky things - Pathologic and Sims my favourite games after all - but it's still fun to work with what's there and tweak it here and there.

Hazbin Hotel - Extermination Entertainment
You think the whole Extermination is not only keeping Hell, but also a way of form of entertainment for higher folks of Heaven.
Like Extermination is just some angels' version of the Superbowl?
Now, you might think, what the fuck?
It started with listening to the likes of 'Hell is Forever' when Adam sings
" Fair is fair, an eye for an eye! And when all's said and done (Said and done) There's the question of fun (Fun) And for those of us with Divine Ordainment Extermination is entertainment!"
Of course, we all how zealous Adam and other Exorcists are with the annual Extermination. It could be just a throwaway line towards that. Adam and his team find the whole thing to be fun and get a thrill with just the whole slaughter. I'm willing to give you that.
If not for the mask glitching
There has been a few times through the first season we have seen Lute's mask glitch, but Adam's and even in the pilot, the Exorcists, all of them just glitch.
Now, I have seen some discussions about what the mask and their glitches mean. Like breaking the whole 'harming hellborn' deal or just having their own mask breaking. Which I can see points about for sure. But I want to focus on the fact that these Angels are using such high tech masks in the first place.
Why have something like a screen to reflect your face or emotions on? Of course, it is a mask, and having such tech doing such a task if niffy. We all know Adam loves appearances and giving him such a big grin while killing sinners, can be something like that. But it being a screen, one has to wonder how they even see past it the screen.
Heaven powers? Maybe
But if we look at some of the new VR tech, like the new Apple Vision Pro. They are creating headsets that use the cameras inside of the headsets to broadcast the wearer's eyes onto it. Makes it look like the VR headset looks like goggles, but they aren't.
And like VR headsets are used for streaming all the time.
So, who to say that the Exorcist's mask wouldn't do the same in reverse. That they are masking the angels' true faces but reflecting the outside world to the Exorcists so they can see and stream it to others.
Basically blinding themselves to the cruelty of their actions. I mean, Vaggie ripped off her mask and then spared a sinner demon after all. Her bare eyes and all.
Anyway!
And now, you are thinking, what about Sera? And I got you here.
Adam is the one who suggested the Extermination. She approved it, but it was all Adam's idea. He put it up to her as a way to protect Heaven from Hell, etc, etc.
Now, I believe that Sera is a powerful leader in Heaven for sure. She isn't the only one. There are other Elders in Heaven that has similar if not more power than her. There is no way she wouldn't be the only one that would know about the Excorists. She could have keep it from Emily and the rest of the lower angels, but it's the higher ones, and more heaven-born ones that this is the issue.
Look at Hell and how they have different levels of hellborns. Who to say that Heaven doesn't have their own. Like you have the Goetia, imps, etc etc. Like Sera could focus more on angels that are born of moral souls, while other Elder angels are more focused on heaven-born souls.
Like there are the Deadly sins as well.
I mean, Viv is all about designs with her characters. Look at these two frames.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are from two different episodes and you cannot tell me that these design choices aren't on purpose. Their halos and extra parts of their designs are on purpose.
These six never like Lucifer and I bet some of them would get some twisted pleasure in seeing the Extermination being done. Look at Adam, I know he does and he even claims they should be worshiping him since they came from his nuts. He realizes these souls came from him and he still wants to kill them for fun!!
So, I believe one or more came to Adam and worked together on this plan so they could all watch the Extermination. Just watching Lucifer and his whole kingdom and the evil souls suffer. Just feeling all superior and such.
Also having an Elder Angel supporting Adam might had helped convince Sera about the whole Extermination plan, for the greater good and such. Besides, there is no way Sera had the total say on the Extermination idea. She had to get approval from others.
And they are so lying to Sera and saying it all for the good of Heaven cause Hell was thinking about attacking them.
All so they could have their private version of the Hunger Games for those in the know.
