Takeshi Sendo & Ryo Mashiba Relationship HCs

Takeshi Sendo

Sendo like the other boxers is very busy training most of the time. When in a relationship he'd love it if you're pursuing something you love as well or if you support him on his journey. Supporting him can be just as small as giving him a kiss before he goes and does roadwork because it'll make him run twice as fast.

If you like fitness or want to get into it he'll be more than ecstatic. He'd take you to the gym since there's gym equipment there and make you a personalized workout regimen. His gymmates get jealous watching you both laugh when you mess up and overall just how supportive you both are.

The second Sendo is interested in you and during the relationship, he tries to spend as much time as possible with you so he tries to involve you in his boxing career. He'll gift you free tickets to his matches or ask you to cuddle with him under a blanket at his place while you both watch his next opponent's tapes.

He's also huge on hugging you so hard that you're lifted into the air and he isn't afraid to show you affection in public. After all he's just the type of manly man who'd show off his s/o proudly.

Sometimes when Sendo has breaks he'll try to do things to help you relax like massage you with his big strong hands ;)

Ryo Mashiba

Initially Mashiba is very reserved and finds it a big challenge to find the correct words to explain his emotions towards you. He feels awkward and would rather not say anything, but he knows he'll need to man up and tell you eventually. He wouldn't wait around too long to not make a move unlike a certain someone.

Mashiba displays his affection through buying you flowers and doing things for you such as trying to cook you meals. He isn't the best with words and physical intimacy so this is how he tries to make up for it.

He is a very private person so he absolutely dislikes PDA. Maybe after a few years he will let you hold his hand in public, but if anyone he knows sees it he'll get embarrassed and never do it again. He prefers being vulnerable and intimate when alone with you.

Before and during the relationship he'll be very protective over you, but you may not notice it. Similarly to how he acts with Kumi, he'll watch you from a distance especially if you hang out with male friends. That's just to make sure they don't hurt you or get upto any funny business.

If you ever fall asleep on him he likes gently stroking your hair and face admiring your beauty.

Why do they hate on Kumi so much?

They acting like she’s the reason for everything wrong with the series. That she is responsible for Ippo’s situation.

I think she’s actually very well written. Her reasons for being protective of Ippo make sense. She already has a brother fighting in the World rankings getting hurt.

“She’s not letting Ippo fight?”

No, Ippo CHOSE that. It was his decision. And his main reason for doing that was because of his mother’s worry/ his punch drunk.

Stop hating on Kumi for being protective. Also she is Mashiba Ryo’s brother. Of course she can be scary. That is what makes it work.

She is the one that tells the sandwich place that Ippo said no pickles.

They work and people gotta stop hating.

El Último "Bienvenido"

Ayer terminé el primer arco de Hajime no Ippo y más allá de que es una serie preciosa con todo lo que logra transmitir usando como excusa el boxeo (y que las escenas de boxeo también son excelentes), quiero reparar en el tratamiento del romance a lo largo de este primer arco.

Para quienes no lo han visto, hago un pequeño resumen (aunque lo mejor sería que vean la serie o lean el manga porque no se arrepentirán): Ippo tiene un flechazo de una chica que se cruza en bicicleta por el camino, a la que vuelve a encontrar recurrentemente en una panadería que frecuenta y como público en el boxeo. Ippo intenta usar este supuesto interés común para acercarse a ella, pero sospecha que no tiene chances pues Kumi (ella) debe ser fanática de otro boxeador. Finalmente se revela que es la hermana de Mashiba, a quien se le presenta como un boxeador sin valores y por el que Ippo siente sed de venganza luego de que éste derrotara a Miyata de forma poco justa. Luego de hablar mal de Mashiba frente a ella sin saber del parentezco y de derrotarlo en la final de un torneo, Ippo abandona sus pretensiones con Kumi, aunque un día, deambulando por pensamientos de falta de rumbo, decide ir a la panadería a disculparse con ella. Se encuentra con Kumi saliendo de la panadería, pero sólo para enterarse que fue su último día trabajando allí.

Y eso es todo. Ippo asume que será probablemente el último día que la verá. No hay un gran momento romántico, un cruce señalado por el destino, una persecución que preceda a una gran declaración, nada. Y la verdad es que me pareció muy bello, pues es un poco así en la vida real ¿no? Ippo come el mismo pan de yakisoba que siempre pedía, mas no sabe tan bien como antes, y simplemente asume que ese fue el último "Bienvenido" que escuchará de parte de Kumi. Es una escena preciosa pues, pese a que dura menos de un minuto, captura de forma muy realista el flechazo no correspondido.

Primero, por el arrepentimiento. En el momento en que mueren las posibilidades de que aquel flechazo evolucione a algo real, siempre lo invaden a uno arrepentimientos de aquello que pudo hacer y no hizo, o de aquellas situaciones que con un poco más de suerte podrían haber resultado mejor. Y los recuerdos de esos momentos críticos, esos momentos que terminaron sentenciando que aquel flechazo no llegase a más. Tal como Ippo recuerda recibir la información de que Kumi ya no trabaja en la panadería al costado del río, uno recuerda aquella ocasión en que no se atrevió a decir o aquella en que dijo demasiado, el riesgo que no tomó, el día en que las coincidencias impidieron algo, los momentos en que sentiste que esa persona podía estar interesada en ti pero que cada vez sientes menos, comparas en como esa persona se despidió contenta de ti antes de navidad y como ahora que acaban las clases no sentiste lo mismo al despedirte, y te arrepientes de no haber hecho algo antes.

Luego, hace un gran trabajo de retratar aquellas sensaciones inexplicables que nos produce el amor, y concretamente los flechazos. Ippo come el mismo yakisoba roll que siempre pedía mientras recuerda al costado del río, y nos cuenta como ya no sabe igual pese a que es el mismo producto que siempre ha pedido. Y es que la oxitocina tiene eso. Hace que la comida sepa más rico, que los olores sean más placenteros, que un lugar mundano se convierta en un hito, que cierta bebida se convierta en tu favorita, que una clase insoportable del máster se pueda volver un idilio porque reorganizaron las mesas y quedaste sentado frente a ella. Pero eventualmente, el yakisoba roll ya no sabe tan bien.

Y finalmente, Ippo mira al cielo reflexionando sobre que fue probablemente la última vez que la verá; que, aunque no lo ha hecho directamente, le ha roto el corazón; y nos regala la frase "así que ese fue el último "Bienvenido"". Y en apenas unos segundos, encapsula perfectamente el momento en que uno se resigna. Ese momento en que te das cuenta que la oportunidad, si es que la hubo, ya no está allí. En el que puedes sentir ese corazón partido, pese a que en realidad te lo has roto tu mismo por las expectativas que te generaste por el sueño de poder compartir tu vida con aquella musa de los rizos desordenados y la sonrisa llena de bondad. Y, sobretodo, captura como suele ser la muerte de un flechazo a diferencia de lo que nos suele hacer creer Hollywood. No hay un gran momento de cierre, no hay un cambio de fortunas a último minuto. Sólo un día te das cuenta ya no la verás más y comienzas la cuenta atrás hasta que esos sentimientos comiencen a abandonar tu corazón.

Es una escena que creo que puede identificar poderosamente a todos nosotros quienes hemos tenido un flechazo no correspondido. Por lo específicas de algunas descripciones en los párrafos anteriores, creo que es fácil deducir que yo también lo tengo. Tristemente, aún no llego al último "bienvenido", y digo tristemente porque pese a que aún no está aquí, su llegada es inminente y próxima. La esperanza de que esto llegue a más que un flechazo ha abandonado lamentablemente mi mente, pero esta escena me hace estar un poco más preparado. Digo, si Ippo pudo seguir adelante, creo que yo también.
