People really do assume the FromSoft formula is just "super hard boss fights" but really it's Tall Ladies, Hidetaka Miyazaki's barely contained masochistic death fetish, incredibly hard but usually fair boss fights, community graffiti, annoying rat, even more annoying dog, walk walk fashion baby, poison swamp, bottomless pit, Large Jovial Dad Figure, jolly cooperation, Berserk Reference, and slapstick comedy.

Jodio - Shy Guy (specifically the dark blue version)

Lowkey a pro at this game. Likes to challenge himself in time trials and knows all the best cart combinations. If there is a shortcut on the track, he WILL take it (and will almost always be successful). Actually enjoys Rainbow Road (the real reason for his psychopath diagnosis).

Dragona - Pink Gold Peach (I could see them picking Daisy too)

Just there to have a good time tbh. At least most of the time, because every now and then when they're doing particularly well their competitive streak kicks in, and trust me – once they get into it, they get REALLY into it (cross them at your own risk). Favorite track is Cheep Cheep Beach.

Paco - Bowser

He thinks gaming is dumb and a waste of time (definitely not because he sucks at it). On the rare occasion he does get convinced to play, he keeps bumping into walls and other players (it doesn't help that he picks one of the heaviest characters in the game). Known for notoriously running into banana peels. Gaming sessions usually end in him "inviting" the other players to the gym.

Usagi - Luigi

Relates to Luigi on a personal level for being the underappreciated helper of the group. He's actually quite good at the game. His aim is freakishly accurate and he loves to hoard items to target other players (for unknown reasons they seem to hit everyone but Dragona). Similarly to Jodio, he takes shortcuts almost every chance he gets, but unlike Jodio, it doesn't always go so well. Also probably likes Baby Park like the freak he is.

Charmingman - Dry Bones

Used to play with Mauka a lot, so he's surprisingly good, and can get quite competitive too. Drives solely on bikes, which give him some good ol' maneuverabilty to avoid all those damn banana peels Usagi keeps throwing around. Secretly loves the music tracks and sometimes listens to them while riding his bike irl, imagining himself to be in a race. Favorite item is Boo.

My Top Ten Fungi In Caelid:

As inspired by this fact post, I've decided to make the second one an actual thing, because there are some cool fungi about. The Mushroom People from Dark Souls aside, here are some of Fromsoft's lowest to highest coolest mycological moments:

10- This rotten bastard right here:

I wanted to make this walking fungal infection famous and it spammed me with poison attacks. Fuck this guy. Last place.

9- Common Caelid Flat Fungus

It's fine. The occasional bumps and squinching sounds it makes are neat. But still the least interesting of the Caelid fungi.

8- Oyster Barkshrooms

These are likely the only thing in Caelid that even looks vaguely edible. Pretty neat.

7- Caelidine Cupclusterfungus

These Pezizaceae looking, almost lichenesque clumps are neat, I like when they grow as burls on the the roots. They also sound squinchy.

6- Malenia's Aeonian Sporeblobs

I only wish we saw these puff out some clouds of spores. I have no idea why my camera picked up blue in the middle, sorry.

5- Outback Rothouse Bloomin' Flat Fungus

These are pretty cool, they grow from the flatshrooms and look like one of my drawings. Almost coral-like.

4- Doomskull of Mycelium

Though some of this ancient massive skull has fine cup fungi, other parts have a more mycelium like texture. Also, skull.

3- Branching Fruiting Stumpfungus

These things are awesome. Super cordycepsy. We call them "Caelid Cacti" back home. I mean we don't but whatever.

2- Decaying Ekzykes

I'm not big on dragons in general but a decaying scarlet-rot breathing one? That's pretty awesome. Also I like saying "Ekzykes." Ekzykes.

1- Tomb Mold

Bloodborne item cameo FTW!!! Time for chalice dungeons. Not really. Please don't let the DLC have chalice dungeons.

At the very least, I’m gonna get Iguazu’s AC and give it an All-Knowing redesign. I’m gonna but so many eyes and ears on that bad boy.

I was rotating in my head the Disco Elysium/Armored Core crossover that @smorgasbort mentioned a day or so ago.

....was torn between the AC being blue like the coupris and Tequila Sunset colors, but picked blue because it doesn't compete against the Coral Mind Cabinet.

Something that really got me with the new Shadow of the Erdtree trailer is a coincidence to do with my own Tarnished.

When I played through the game, I decided early on that I didn't trust the Erdtree or the golden order, so I ended up gravitating towards a lot of blasphemous sort of stuff in a bid to gain lots of power. To that end, I ended up playing a one-eyed dragon communion warrior who sided with Volcano manor and used lots of fire and blood and rot.

And then who turns up to steal my Tarnished's whole vibe but Messmer the Impaler, who my Tarnished is probably going to view as the biggest threat to his own credibility as Mr. #1 Blasphemer in the lands between.

I'm looking forward to Shadow of the Erdtree because my Tarnished will NOT be there to help/stop Miquella, he will be there purely to settle his beef with Messmer.
