ABOUT MY HOME TOWN... MANGALDOI
Mangaldoi is a City in the state of Assam located in the north bank of river Brahmaputra which is about 65 km from Guwahati and 90 km from Tezpur. Its geographical indication in perspective to longitude and latitude are 92.03°E and 26.43°N, having an elevation of about 32 m. The place was named after Mangaldahi, who was the daughter of the Rajah of Darrang and was married to Pratap Singha a ruler of the Ahom kingdom. In the Yogini Tantra, there is mention of the river Mangala which is again referred to as Su-Mangala in the Kalikapurana. It is thus possible that the name Mangaldoi is derived from the river Mangala Devi. However a parallel and equally convincing theory says that the name was derived from the native Bododialect, where Mangal means pure and Dai means water. Now if we look at the zoner of demographic perspective then as per 2011 census it have a population of about 25,835 which consist of male about 13,205 and its sex ratio is 923:1000. Mangaldoi had an average literacy rate of 91%.The reason behind such a good numerical figure is simply because of the avalibality of large number of school and colleges which includes: Mangaldoi College, Mangaldoi Govt. T.T. College, Mangaldoi B.Ed College, Mangaldoi Law College, Mangaldoi Government Higher Secondary School ITI, Mangaldoi Politica Science Depratment, MLD College, Mangaldoi Commerce College, NERIM Challenge academy, Mangaldoi Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Mangaldoi Town High & M.E. School, Mangaldoi Girls College, Mangaldoi Government Higher Secondary School etc. The population is largely of heterogeneous nature. Assamese, Bengali, Marwardi, Bihari, Punjabi communities form the majority. The town has a hindu majority, further more for the assisment as well as health security of the people the government have make the avalibality of large no of hospitals in the place as such of Mangaldoi Civil Hospital, Mangaldoi Poly Clinic, Debsons Nursing Home and so on. The city comes under Darang district and for efficient administrative paradigm government body have been established for instance: Mangaldoi Municipality Board, Post Office(Mangaldoi), Office of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Development Officer Office, Panchayat Office, District Sports Office, Rangamati Mouzadar Office, DTO Office(Darrang), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Circle Office (Mangaldoi), SP Office, Darrang Zilla Parishad , Joint Directot Of Health Services(Darrang), Mangaldoi Election Office, Mangoldoi D.C. Court, Labour and Employment Department(Darrang), District Forest Office, Office of the Inspector of Schools (Mangaldoi), Agriculture Office, DC office (Mangaldoi), Assam Tea Employees Provident Fund Organisation, Inspectorate Office(Mangaldoi). Howsoever its official language is Assamese bearing pin no 784125 (East, West and South), 784529(North) and its vehicle registration start with AS-13. Moreover if we look in the known personality it includes Gurujyoti Das of BJP is the present MLA of Mangaldoi. Ramen Deka of BJP is the present MP of Mangaldoi.and Ananda Chandra Agarwala president of asom sahitya saba (1934). A STUDY ON NUTRIENT CONTENT OF FEW DRY FISH IN MANGALDOI, ASSAM | UTTAR PRADESH JOURNAL OF ZOOLOGY
Eight dry fish samples from Kaikara village in Mangaldoi District, Assam, were used in this report. Moisture content, protein content, lipid content, pH, carbohydrate content, and antioxidant activity were all measured in the samples. The analysis was carried out using normal procedures. According to the research, all of the fish samples were high in starch, protein, and lipid, making them extremely nutritious for the native population.
