Their first meeting:

Muriel and her parents were driving to another city but got lost and decided to stop in a village where crazy religious peps (or better description - the cult) lived. They looked oddly old-fashioned like they were form the medieval times or even another dimension. One thing led to another, the cultists killed Muriel's parents and the kid got surrounded. Suddenly she saw something shiny on the ground. picked it up (it looked like a pendant) and opened it. The terrific dark shadow appeared in front of the cultists and so they got scared away. That ghost was Fabian the Mage Ghost who was locked inside Muriel's new accessory for centuries because in his times he was surrounded just like the kid was and to escape the upcoming death he decided to use the magical pendant he and his father worked on even though it was pretty unstable.

Fabian said that he knows how to get the revenge on this crazy cult which the kid and the ghost hated for the described reasons. While the unlucky fox was gathering the needed weapons and spell books the ghost explained that she and her family got sucked in by his dimension. It was like a fast moving fluid in comparison to other dimensions and because of that it had A LOT of magic power and cross-dimensional accidents.

Once the companions were prepared, they invaded the cult village and burned it down (here's the illustration). After that, the mage ghost said that now the kid had to help him for helping her get her parents avenged but before that she had to take a new name because her previous life has (metaphorically) finished. The ghost took a new name too for the sake of him not being recognized by other mages and spirits (his and his father's reputation was not the best one). So, the ghost said that he must return to the world as a living creature and the kid had to help him because they were connected and the ghost couldn't interact with the world himself. It took a loooooooong time for them to reach their goal and the kid did a lot of wrong things due to ghost's influence.
