Was debating on whether to put Tahu or Takanuva, eventually decided for the latter. Since if you think about it they share many things, like:
-Former friends got turned into mindless drones destroying everything
-Both got stranded into foreign lands and always felt like an outsider
-Both wear a piece of equipment(s) created by a presumably more powerful being
-Both was given power of the dark/shadow lord at some point in time
-Both got flinged across dimensions
-Both fight world-ending colossal enemy
Edit:
-Both got their most trusty armament confiscated
-Both fight their "evil counterpart"

Teridax's fatal flaw is that he's too evil.
Literally.
He doesn't take the most direct route to his goals and kill any enemy that could threaten him, simply because he enjoys watching them suffer too much.
Contrast this with Melding Teridax, who does not hesitate at all to smash a bunch of alternate Takanuvas to pieces. There's no satisfaction in it, it's just removing a threat, a means to an end.
This makes me think that Teridax might have taken over the universe more efficiently, and perhaps without even being detected by the Toa, had he focused on his main goal and not being obsessed with making all "lesser beings" miserable. So, the most threatening hypothetical version of Teridax might be one that hadn't leeched out his light to become a shadow being, didn't get his kicks out of being evil, and instead pursued his plan with a ruthless efficiency that the canon Teridax could only dream of.
Or, at least a version that found a way to kick that unfortunate monologuing habit...

2001 Titan Makuta Teridax
As creepy as MNOG's swarm of pieces was, I thought Makuta deserved a proper titan model for his first battle with the Toa.
This model is fully buildable with real pieces, and has two gear functions to boot!
Leg design credit goes to @teelguy's Toa Nui.
Additional view of the model under the cut!

All pieces excluding the black firesword were available in 2001.

Made to fill a "random Tarot card + character" prompt. Inspired by Pamela Smith illustrations. Idk much about tarot so idk how well the characters fill in, lol.

Plot bunny: A story that explores Teridax's POV as he chooses the later Toa Metru to destroy Mata Nui's plan of saving Metru Nui's matoran.
He doesn't realize that Mata Nui put a false message in the stars. Neither does he realize that he's subtly manipulating him to steer Lhikan to his actual Chosen: the Toa Metru.
Signs of this manipulation appear in Teridax's narrative but nothing he acknowledges. He's certain that he'd never be fooled- certainly not by Mata Nui whom he's made sick. He is the manipulator; never the manipulated. Or so he thinks.
He misses many cues that something is strange because he believes he's in control. He focuses on what he's heard about the Toa Metru's supposed flaws. They give a strong enough impression that it makes sense for him to think that they'll fail.
It never occurs to him to research deeper into his pawns.
Or sabotage the great disk matoran.
Or to follow his thoughts that it's surprising that he found six 'false toa' for Lhikan so quickly.
The dramatic irony has to metaphorically drip from the words.
Bonus / Sequel idea: Teridax shifts from glee about foiling Mata Nui's plans, to confusion, to mounting rage as the Toa Metru act so unpredictably that they destroy several of his plans.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but one of the posts where we made fun of the whole "Greg kills Botar off to show that the conflict is getting Serious, then realises that he still needs Botar and so introduces Botar 2" thing suggested that the target for this "Recognisable combo model character from a previous arc gets scronched to indicate that shit's getting real" should've been The Shadowed One, and damn if that idea isn't growing on me.
Like, imagine being TSO in this situation. You've been at war with the Brotherhood of Makuta for a while, as far as you're concerned, you are Teridax's archenemy, and then you get killed off by one of his underlings crushing you to very lean meat with his mind. Teridax didn't even show up to kill you himself, he sent fuckin' Bionicle Starscream to do it instead. The disrespect, the "You were never on my level" of it all, damn.

I feel like we should talk about that cancelled Bionicle Legends novel, Invasion, in Which Teridax bodysnatches Matoro while he’s using the Iden.
This is all we have of it…
