Okay but getting the corrupted overrides in horizon can be so much shit istg
I need primary nerves from stalkers, scorchers, thunderjaws, dreadwings, and FIRECLAWS???
Also need things like 3 dreadwings metal fangs, 3 scorcher scanner ears, and 2 thunderjaw tails, meaning having to kill at least 2 of each just to be able to override them
(not bashing the game as a whole I love it sm but some parts are a little eh)
I especially love the animation you can tell from the starting cut scene how good the it is
Also the new machines are really cool I love burrowers they're cute little guys and I love them also clawstriders are really cool and it's so cool that you can ride them
I also think skydrifters are cool wish you could fly those and glinthawks too but just sunwings apparently

The scene with Aloy and Elisabet sharing a drink/stories was going to be longer. I was going to have them drink until they were sloshed before quickly realizing that Aloy and Lis wouldn’t, especially right before battle/something important. Also, it was kind of out of character, mostly because I have no idea what drunk Aloy acts like.
It was going to go something like this:
Aloy, whispering like she was about to impart the world’s greatest wisdom to the woman who kept it alive, asked Elisabet a question that the scientist herself had spent decades debating with her work.
“Do-do you think, the watchers feel it when I stab them?”
Elisabet hiccups, chugging down some more ale. Her face is flushed but her expression serious. Her thesis was on this. She knows the answer.
“Probably-? There’s error codes and- and lost, loss of visuals.”
She knows the answer but the ale makes sure it comes out like nonsense.
“I don’t wanna- I don’t want to hurt them!” Aloy insists, eyes earnest and frown creasing her brows. “But- but they’ll call the other machines and I need, I need the salva-salvage. And, and Heph- He- you know, wants to keep them alive! They’re so cute. ‘S better to hunt the bandits sometimes.”
Elisabet sniffles. “I’m sure it’s- it’s fine. Margo- Margo definitely would have wanted you to, to stay alive. She didn’t want to hurt anyone… ‘cept for Ted. Fuck Ted.”
Aloy nods emphatically, ale sloshing.
“Yeah, fuck Ted.”
“Bringing shame to the cool name of Theodore. That’s like- that’s like a posh name, you know? Back then…”

Just got emotional playing Zero Dawn bc. My cow he. I get to the gate and there's monsters, so obviously I want him to be safe because he's my baby. I deal with most of them but the huge one wanders close to him trying to find me and my cow KICKS ITS ASS. Like. VIOLENTLY. Knocks the bastard over twice in a row. I wanted to keep him safe...... I forgot he also wants to keep me safe. That's my son 😭💞

One of the things that gets me about the 'Vilgax possessed Kevin to build the Antitrix' theory (and it is a theory at best, the closest thing we have to evidence is his claiming Kevin was a 'vessel' with which to build it, but that can just as easily be read as 'I tossed the blueprints at you so you'd build it and it'd be ready when I got back', and the latter would make a lot more sense given if he'd possessed Kevin to get it done then why fucking let him keep a hold of it? why not hide it somewhere and then kill the kid? not like he's got some moral stance against it, and it would mean less hassle getting it back) is that this isn't something we see Vilgax do. Ever. We've seen weird shit with Vilgax and dreams in OS (and given Duncan Rouleou has stated that shit was due to being bound by fragments of Vilgax's DNA in the Omnitrix if we can already assume either that shit was expanded on or that even pre-watch there was Something going on with Kevin), but at no point are we ever given any indication that he can fucking possess people (which you'd think would have been utilized at some point before).
Like, the 'Vilgax either purposefully provided Kevin with the blueprints through a dream either so that it could be premade when he returned or accidentally provided the blueprints while for some reason fucking around in fuckers' heads and was saved face when somebody actually managed to build it by claiming it was on purpose' theory requires us to believe that Vilgax utilized a power other versions of him have already been shown to have to, on purpose or not, provide the blueprints he had already for the Antitrix to Kevin- who we see in the sequel series is a skilled mechanic and engineer and are shown during the reboot was already doing engineering as a child and regularly continued working on, fixing, and improving the Antitrix over the course of the show- who then built it.
Meanwhile the 'Vilgax possessed Kevin and built the Antitrix himself' theory requires us to believe that Vilgax pulled out a new power, off-screen, and used it the one time to not only possess an actual child with all the material access limitations that comes with but also for some reason leaves the resulting watch with the child, opening himself up to things like the risk of him breaking it and giving himself an added hassle as far as getting his hands on the damn thing when he did get back, rather than just hiding the watch somewhere safe and offing the witness.
So yeah, I'm going with the former.
#personally i'm of the 'vilgax purposefully showed off the blueprints but didn't expect anybody to actual be able to work with them' camp#like- after his attempt to get the power core he needed to make the things went as south as possible he decided to poke around some heads#got his little dreamwalker mitts on the best engineering minds to see if he could rubber duck off them to work out some ideas#for things on earth he could use to build a suitable substitute power source#only to find out when he got to earth that one of the fuckers had actually managed to understand the blueprints enough#and either worked out a suitable enough powersource or understood what vilgax came up with#and made his own#cue going 'oh hey that makes shit so much easier' but also playing it up like his plan all along#because like hell he's admitting this *human child* surprised him#it doesn't require him to pull out new off-screen powers or to be enough of a fool that he just leaves shit with random kids for no good re#and doesn't let the sort've fuckers that brush off any sign kevin has more than two brain cells linger around coming up with excuses#once had a fucker honestly come onto one of my posts and claim that *ben* at 16 had *clearly* modded the omnitrix in UA#because there was no way the member of the team that is *regularly shown* working with machines and tech was smart enough to#because 'good at math' apparently overrides 'the tech guy' status if the alternative is kevin being intelligent#fuckers in this fandom describing kevin as 'a passable mechanic' and they expect me to take their asses seriously

For the writer's asks: 13, 16, & 20
tyyy, questions are here
13. What feedback did you receive for your writing that stuck with you? Answered here :3
16. Where do you find inspiration to write?
Is it cliché to say everywhere? There's always a little narrator somewhere in my head, and when I see something that I like, or touch it, or eat it, or hear it- I squirrel it away. I always want to be writing and always sort of am whether I want to or not because there are so many words! But also in a more practical structural based way, I would say by asking myself questions. Sometimes from inside out- What would cause Valentine to purposefully break from Arasaka? Sometimes from the outside in- How could Valentine post DE end up interacting with Johnny? * 20. Do you have one piece of advice for your fellow writers? Don't be afraid to experiment- it feels bad to fall short, but you'll learn a lot, and you can always save the attempt and analyze it later or re-do it. For some reason this article is Medium-walled but I'm a big believer in the 1000 pots process. If you try to make the best pot every time from the moment you start writing it's going to be discouraging and hard. If you tell yourself you're going to end up churning a lot of 50% quality pots and learning about what Not To Do it takes a lot of the pressure off and makes it fun to dick around and do weird hobby stuff. Have fun!

had to unfollow someone I really liked cause they support nuclear power and kept ragging on people who didn’t believe in it calling them ignorant and as bad as antivaxxers and it’s like man. I’m not dumb because I disagree with you. Radiation is fucking terrifying, and the idea that being scared of something that will proveably kill you in horrific ways is the same as being scared of proveably safe vaccines that save lives is a cruel mischaracterization.
#radiation is one of my biggest fears#and I’m absolutely anti nuclear power#because three mile island and chernobyl showed us that human error can always override machine safety#and fukishima showed us that even the safest machines can’t survive every natural disaster#like I don’t support fossil fuel power but jesus#like the bp spill was terrible coal accidents are terrible#but oil spills can be cleaned up. you can wash rocks and animals even if it takes a long time#and power plant accidents are tragic but the people that die are confined to the people that die in the immediate incident#nuclear power accidents? oh no it doesn’t work like that#wherever the radiation touches is contaminated#and the highly irradiated areas? unlivable within our lifetimes. within tens of thousands of our lifetimes#and the disaster isn’t just contained to the incident. yeah some people may die immediately from regular causes#some may die from radiation poisoning#but radiation causes cancer. there are people who survived these events who are dying from it now#because regardless of what they’ll tell you — THERE IS NO SAFE AMOUNT OF RADIATION#even the smallest amount WILL change your dna#the smaller amounts are more likely to change junk dna that doesn’t actually code for anything sure#but any amount has the possibility of changing dna that will lead to cancer#and you wouldn’t even know until 40 years later because that’s how long on average it takes the cancer to develop#and even then the disaster can STILL KILL PEOPLE even after the disaster is over!!!#there were russian soldiers in chernobyl who dug up the wrong dirt and got radiation poisoning#the reactor is concealed within two separate containment buildings but the disaster can STILL KILL PEOPLE#it’s not safe there and for all we know all of humanity could be dead before we’d be able to live there again#solar and wind have their problems sure but#nuclear just isn’t worth it because all you need is ONE fuckup for things to go wrong for so many people for so long

Absolutely insane that companies are trying to replace employees that they pay $15 an hour with machines, because with a machine you need an electrician to install it and an electrician to maintain it and an electrician to replace it when it breaks and electricians charge like $80 an hour. So. I really don’t think that they’re saving money by doing this.

Last night I had to do an at-home sleep study, which involves wearing a bunch of straps and tubes all night that record my breathing and general state.
Tumblr media
This is generally not conducive to a peaceful night's sleep, especially when already prone to shitty sleep.
This morning I'm absolutely wrecked and barely functional. How I managed to drag myself all the way to the office is a mystery, but here I am.
