The exhibition La pensée corps brings together the work of Alexandra Bircken and Lutz Huelle, both of whom are linked to questions of identity, intimacy, permeability and vulnerability of the human being. What links them is a style with forms that are alternately fractured and assembled, cut and sutured, and a long history of friendship.

This exhibition is not about the relationship between art and fashion, even though it is a natural one. The focus is on the mechanisms, the gestures, the thinking of the contemporary body and our experience of it as human beings. Both sectionalise and fractionalise objects and clothes as adjustable models for new ways of living, feeling and representing. This essential relationship to the body…

Has it stood the test of time ? ...after all the love for yesterday’s picture of Lutz’s Fringejacket here’s the whole collection .. what do you think? oh and there’s the utterly lovely @joanapreissofficial looking especially amazing ❣️ LUTZ HUELLE NO.7 F/W 2003 ‘THE SMITHS AT THE DISCO’ Listening to The Smiths’ ‘The Queen is dead’ on repeat.. Glitter and Glamour and the Ordinary : a Men’s Blazer with Fringes turns into a party dress . Striped Shirting is worn with sequinned TShirts, Sweatshirts in grey Jersey have wide glittering hems. A striped Mohair Sweater is draped around the Body. I asked myself: ‘How can I put the aggressive, ‘street’ attitude of a Bomberjacket into a pleated dress? The answer was: fix some of the pleats so they don’t move, cut the shape of a Bomber ( those pockets, the rib finishing) into the pleats as if it was a flat fabric, then leave the rest of the pleats open.. Voilà!
