Thought I’d share this fourth-wall-breaking little bit I drew of Lune & Gabryl. It’s not an illustration in the book, but it’s still one of my absolute favorites of them 😂 I just love how the anatomy, poses, and likenesses came out.
The purpose of the artwork was to print out and include in the swag bundles for people who ordered in the first couple of weeks after release. (I have leftover bundles, tho. So anyone who orders a book from my Etsy shop usually get the goodies too 😉). Reviews are super helpful for indie authors, so if you have an Amazon or Goodreads, I would be eternally grateful if you left a review (doesn’t have to be long or in-depth if that intimidates you. It can literally just be “I liked it.”😂)

Webcomics I think you should read in 2023
The Silver Eye by Laura Hollingsworth (@ thesilvereye on tumblr)
Tumblr media
“The Silver Eye began in 2009. It is an action-adventure webcomic of the Fantasy persuasion, written from a Christian worldview. Two rival royal families are always at odds. The conflict reaches a point where one child king, Apen, sacrifices himself and his country to prevent another war. This leads to some disastrous consequences. The story follows his journey to try to set things right, and if he’s going to do so, he has to work alongside members of his rival family.” (Description from the website)
Tumblr media
TSE is my personal favorite, as anyone who’s stuck around my blog has probably already figured out lol. It updates on Fridays. (PG to occasional PG-13)
The Legend of Ruach by Paige Coffer (@ paigecofferillustration on tumblr)
Tumblr media
It’s a fantasy/adventure story that’s been running since 2020, updates weekly. I think it’s PG so far, may be soft PG-13 in the future.
Tumblr media
Stand Still, Stay Silent by Minna Sundberg (Completed, 2013-2022) (tumblr @ hummingfluff)
Tumblr media
"Stand Still. Stay Silent" is a post apocalyptic webcomic with elements from Nordic mythology, set 90 years in the future. It's a story about friendship and exploring a forgotten world, with some horror, monsters and magic on the side.
Tumblr media
It’s a really neat comic to read as an American because of all the Nordic languages and cultural elements present throughout. Warnings for horror elements/violence, maybe some language (I can’t remember for sure, it’s been awhile since I read it, could be blurred out or something) The author also has talked about her return to her faith/and her next comic is going to be overtly Christian (Journey Upstream) It started recently (Jan 2023)
(More comics under the cut)
Lost in the Vale by Crystal Curtis (tumblr @ lostinthevale)
Tumblr media
The Outrunners are traveling peacekeepers tasked with assisting the citizens of the Vale. Their top priority: find the missing Prince of Andalusia. For Delica, it's not just her mission - it's her obsession. As she and her teammates travel the kingdom, they will discover more dangers (and mysteries) than they ever imagined.
I started reading this one really recently and quite like it so far, the art style is excellent. Updates Tuesdays, PG-13
Jade Torch by Anne Marie Wells
Tumblr media
It’s a book turned webcomic turned soon to be released illustrated novel (if I have that right lol)
“Lunerata “Lune” Bridth, heir to the Havanellan throne, is sent to the court of a rival kingdom, the homeland of her deceased mother, to help negotiate a long-awaited peace treaty. But once there, she finds that things are not as simple as she’d been lead to believe. In this foreign land, there are enemies, allies, traitors, secrets, and a plot that could destroy Lune’s world as she knows it and plunge both kingdoms into war. Join Lune and her friends as they set out on an adventure filled with dragons, assassins, mysteries, magic, and the strange ties of family.“ The Dreamer by Lora Innes
Tumblr media
Beatrice “Bea” Whaley seems to have it all; the seventeen year old high school senior is beautiful, wealthy and the star performer of the drama club. And with her uncle’s connections to Broadway theater, the future looks bright ahead of her. Little does she know that her future might actually be brighter behind her.
Bea begins having vivid dreams about a brave and handsome soldier named Alan Warren–a member of an elite group known as Knowlton’s Rangers that served during the Revolutionary War. Prone to keeping her head in the clouds, Bea welcomes her nightly adventures in 1776; filled with danger and romance they give her much to muse about the next day. But it is not long before Beatrice questions whether her dreams are simply dreams or something more. Each night they pick up exactly where the last one ended. And the senses–the smell of musket shots and cannons, the screams of soldiers in agony, and that kiss–are all far more real than any dream she can remember.
Completed, PG-13
Haven’t had a chance to finish this one yet, but it was great as far as I read.

The thing is. If Zezri's dad hadn't been a jerk with serious favoritism issues who nourished that girl's sadistic streak instead of curbing it, Zezri and Lune could have been besties.
I can easily see Zezri and Soaron hanging out with Lune, Kenneth, Soni, and Darat. I mean, that gang would have been an absolute Menace to society—but they would have had fun.

Just a doodle from last year that I don’t think I ever posted here. I used Lune as subject matter when I was practicing in a different drawing program. I need to draw this costume design again sometime.

Bless us, great writer, with your WIPS
😂 Will do! These are all randomly selected from various chapters in the document, so here ya go!
Most mornings he woke feeling as tired as he had when his head had hit the pillow.
Gabryl, of course, was perfectly at ease, waiting patiently for an answer.
Lune sucked in a breath and ran her fingers through her hair.
She was content to let them keep their secrets.
Aril’s brows drew together in a fierce frown.
The war was plain on her face.
Lune’s sword weighed heavy on her hip.

@fairytale-lights here is the link to one of my character playlists on Spotify that I mentioned. I have a folder for Jade Torch playlists on Spotify. I know my Gabryl, Kenneth, and Zezri & Gardzrin (they share a playlist) ones are public too.
As a disclaimer, I make character playlists as a mix of "this song vibes with the character" and "oh, this specifically relates to the character" 😂 with an occasional "this character would listen to this and vibe with it"
So it's a little chaotic 😅

So um, just wanna say two things. One, I LOVED Jade Torch: The Killing Thought, and am so doing a mini review of it on Tumblr!
Two, and this is minor, but I wanna apologize if I upset you by admitting I kinda ship Matsen and Lune. I really do like them, together and separately, but I just needed to apologize in case you were upset by it (and also so that I can clear my own conscience over the matter.)
One question...any chance we could see more art of Matsen?
Thank you, and have a great day!
I’m so glad you liked it!! Thank you for picking up a copy!!😁😁
And no, you didn’t offend me, but I can tell you they for sure won’t be a canon couple. In book one, Lune is 14 and Matsen is in his mid-twenties. (I can’t remember his exact age off the top of my head, and I know I didn’t mention it definitively in book one, but I do have it written down somewhere lol) So they’re definitely not a thing. Matsen does not have a squeaky clean rap sheet, by any means, but there are some lines even he knows are not to be crossed. So given the ages I’ve settled on for them, that’s not a direction I would ever go with the story.
Matsen art is something I want to do more of, for sure! But I can’t make any guarantees about when or how much. I know there’s a little bit on Patreon that I haven’t shared here because it’s spoiler stuff. I can also check to see if there’s any on Instagram that I haven’t shared here, but I’m not sure 😄
Thank you! And I really am stoked to hear you loved it!😁 If you would leave a rating/review (doesn’t have to be long) on Amazon and/or Goodreads, that would be amazing too! Those help us indie authors out massively!😅
Happy Appreciate a Dragon Day!!😄✨

I'm going to give more than a random sentence on this one. Still no context, but I felt like sharing several sentences instead of just one ;) So enjoy this little snippet from Jade Torch book 2 (The Phoenix Fire)
Across the fire pit, [Redacted] and Cam argued about something. Lune hadn’t been listening to know what. The fire crackled. Suddenly the heat clawed at her. She felt the beat of her heart quicken. She wasn’t ready for this. Aril joined the argument, and Lune felt as if the room was pressing in on her.

Meme art 😂 (meme inspiration under the cut)
I’ve been struggling with drawing Lune lately. It’s been hard to get her face right, but I’m glad this one finally came together 😁👏 And I had to go for the winter-y vibes, especially since book 2 is set in January❄️

In this foreign land, there are enemies, allies, traitors, secrets, and a plot that could destroy Lune’s world as she knows it—and plunge both kingdoms into war. Day 3 and 4 of Inktober
Descriptions below the cut (sorry, but if you want the daily updates, you'll have to follow me on Instagram @/dragonanne It's exhausting posting in both places every day)
Day 3: The Bridth Throne
Lune's family has sat on the throne of Havanell since the first days of the kingdom and the first king, Noein Bridth. Someday, Lune will inherit this throne and all the responsibilities that come with it. Is she ready for that burden?
Behind the throne, you can see Lune's family crest, the winged lion, and the Havanellan flag, the dragon and flame. And dragons can be seen, decorating the throne. The Bridths honor the fact that without their close alliance and friendship with the dragons, their throne would not enjoy the stability that it has for centuries.
Day 4: Dragon Riders
Most dragon riders in Havanell are members of the Eliesic Corps, a specialized branch of the Havanellan royal military (think air force but with dragons 😜) When a dragon partners with a human, a special bond is created, which is often referred to as "soul sharing". Largely due to the bonded portion of the population, the dragons and humans of Havanell maintain a symbiotic relationship and work together to protect and care for their homeland.

Inktober Days 7 & 8
Descriptions below the cut ✂️
Day 7: The Twins
I really enjoyed drawing these little ladies. On the right is Zetha and on the left is her twin sister Alizet. They were born into the nobility of Lustance, a historical rival to the kingdom of Havanell. Both girls were destined to become queens, one of Lustance and one of Havanell, but neither would live to see a lasting peace between those kingdoms.
And again, Zetha is Lune's mother 😊
Day 8: the Throne of Lustance
My brain is kinda dead, and I don't feel like I have much to say. This is meant to be the throne of Lustance, the country that Lune's mother, Zetha, is from. As you can see, it's much more ornamental than the Bridth throne.
I will say that I like how the shading came out on this one much more than how it came out on the Bridth throne drawing. On this one I did a rough version where I practiced/planned the values. I wish I'd done that on the other, ngl

So a little over a week ago, I purchased a Huion Kamvas Pro 16 so that I could start utilizing Photoshop again for some of my digital work. So far I’ve been really pleased with it, and here is an informal little review for this week’s video. I hope you enjoy it/find it useful!

“Is this what you want?! Because the path you’ve chosen? This is where it leads.” Here’s an old WIP I revamped and turned into a fun(?) illustration🔥 I talk more about this illustration as it relates to the central themes of Jade Torch’s story over on my Patreon. Patrons are also getting current updates on the project 😁 (Spoiler alert: there’s some exciting stuff happening!)
