He currently works for the Canadian Armed Forces as a Project Director for IM/IT based projects specific to interoperability with our allies. Why Russell in his words. "Coming from a small town in Nova Scotia (very similar to Russell with a Foodland, Home Hardware and a family style restaurant) - I've come to realize that these types of communities are ideal for raising a family. Russell offered us the land we needed/wanted to expand and grow; It gave us the room to build our ideal shop, a large garden, and space to entertain. The Heritage Rd/Trillium Cr community is friendly and welcoming; I may not know everyone's name but we are all friendly - we all stop and wave at one another. This is the type of community I want to raise children in, a place where they are safe to ride their bikes on the road or play with a friend down the road. Hellllll yes! This morning we ran a pint sized WUU2K (Wellington Urban Ultramarathon). This was a WUU1K if you will, across 31 kilometres of Wellington trails and 1000m / 1k of elevation. Tomorrow would have been the 2020 WUU2K, the urban ultramarathon that lives close to SO many peoples hearts. This would be year five. It was a smart move to cancel the race ahead of time this year, with New Zealand quietly navigating through this pandemic with a hopefulness we didn't dare to dream of 3 months ago. When I was a military spouse, the part about those years that most stand out in my mind (even more than the beautiful backdrop of Hawaii) was a sense of community. New baby born? Everyone took turns dropping off food. New people coming to the unit and old friends leaving? We had a Hail and Farewell. (Several times a year.) We had bake sales, car washes, and took turns dropping off supplies to the @fisherhousefdtn. Parades, festivities, and comradeship. We were a family, and many of the connections made then still run so deeply in my life. When that was no longer part of my life, I craved community... until I landed in Katonah.
