I have seen some Barbie-themed pyjamas for couples*, so here's an important question: which of your OTPs would buy a pyjama set like this?
Tumblr media
*They are sold separately, so buying 2 Barbie pyjamas or 2 Ken ones also count, but there's no such photo on the website.

I haven't watched Gilmore Girls for a while and I totally forgot that Jackson had a brother who hit on Lorelai and his name was Beau. And Jon Hamm was in Gilmore Girls who flirted with Lorelai in season 3.
And then we have Cyclone whose name is Beau, he's played by Jon Hamm, and I ship her with Lorelai. I think we've come full circle here.

Trick or Treat
Tumblr media
Fandom(s): Top Gun: Maverick, Gilmore Girls
Rating: Teen and up audiences
Summary: Cyclone returns to Stars Hollow at Halloween and pays a surprise visit to the Gilmore house.
Relationships: Cyclone x Lorelai Gilmore
Word count: 1705
A/N: The whole Lorelai x Cyclone thing was just a random idea I had based on this post and then I realized that it might even work, and a few days ago I had a thought of writing something Halloween-themed for them. You can find more stuff about them under this tag. (And yes, I’m using the moodboard I made for them the other day.) Also, this fic sets during Season 3 of Gilmore Girls.
Trick or Treat
Getting out of his car, Lieutenant Beau “Cyclone” Simpson felt nervous. He found it a little ridiculous as he could remain perfectly calm when flying an F-18 super hornet, and now he had a trembling stomach as he walked up to the Gilmore house. Perhaps he should have called before putting on a costume and driving here from Hartford. He hadn’t seen her for months, he had no idea whether she was seeing anyone or if she was at home at all. The only way to find that out was to ring the bell.
“Young man!” He heard a female voice from the neighboring house. “Could you help us?”
Now there was no turning back, he thought with a sigh. The neighbors had seen him. Turning around, he saw a tall man and a short woman with a piano on the porch. They wanted to move it next to the front door. It had wheels, but they were still struggling with it.
“Why do you need the piano?” Cyclone wondered as they moved the instrument next to the front door.
“Morey’s going to be a corpse musician!” the woman told her, excitedly. “I can’t wait to see him in full costume!”
“I’ll be the dead jazz singer!” the man announced. “And what about you?”
“I’m an aviator,” Cyclone replied. “A naval aviator.”
“You look like a scarecrow to me,” the woman stated as she looked at his worn-out jeans, plaid flannel shirt and straw hat. He also had straw sticking out of his sleeves at the wrists and at his neck which was extremely uncomfortable.
“Yes, that’s my costume. I’m a naval aviator dressed as a scarecrow.”
“Wait, I remember you!” the woman said with her lips curling up into a smile. “You were with Lorelai at the lip sync battle! You looked great together, didn’t they, Morey?”
“I can’t really remember,” the man said, then he turned to the aviator. “So, you came to visit her, didn’t you?”
“Well, I had something to do in Hartford, so I thought why not? Is she at home?”
“I think so,  but she’ll be leaving soon,” the woman told him. “She’ll be on the jury of the costume competition.”
“Of course, you have a costume competition,” Cyclone chuckled, remembering that this was Stars Hollow where the citizens seemed to be happy to make a fool of themselves whenever they got the opportunity. To be honest, he kind of liked that. “Then I’ll go and say hello before she leaves,” he added.
“Thank you for the help,” Morey nodded as he headed to Lorelai’s house.
“Oh, and she’s not seeing anyone right now!” the woman shouted after him.
***
When she heard the doorbell ring, Lorelai Gilmore quickly glanced at the clock on the wall and stated in mind that it was way too early for trick-or-treating. Even Babette and Morey had not set up the corpse musician thing yet. She could hear that they got some stranger to help them with the piano. Maybe they needed some more help with it, she thought as she was heading to the front door.
She was already wearing her costume: a black, sequined bodysuit with a tail, a green satin nightgown and a box of Kleenex. And a pair of high-heeled black slippers with feathers on the top, but she hadn’t put them on yet. This year she decided to go as Miss Adelaid from Guys and Dolls. A few weeks ago they saw the revival with Rory, Sookie, and Jackson, and after that she watched the film a few times.
Opening the door she froze for a moment as she saw the tall, dark-haired aviator on her porch, smiling down at her.
“Hello, Junkie,” Cyclone said, using her call sign that he and Luke from the diner had given her. “Trick or treat!”
“Cyclone! What are you doing here?”
She had never thought she would ever see him again. Yet there he was, dressed as a scarecrow, being as handsome as the last time if not more. Getting over the initial surprise, her lips curled up into a smile.
“Had something to do in Hartford,” he told her, “and I thought I’d pass by.”
“Good idea,” Lorelai nodded. “Come in.”
Seeing the green satin nightgown she was wearing, he felt a little insecure. What if the time wasn’t right despite what the neighbors said?
“Are you okay?” he wondered as he followed her into the house. “I mean, you’re in a nightgown.”
“And I have a tail,” she said, showing him the long black tail sewn on the backside of the bodysuit. “Don’t worry, that’s only my costume,” she assured him.
Now it was his turn to smile as he recognized who she was.
“Miss Adelaide, isn’t it?” he guessed.
“Catching a cold,” she nodded with her smile growing wider. “Have you seen it on Broadway, too?”
“No, I played Sky Masterson in the academy,” he told her.
“Didn’t know you were into such a thing,” she said, stating in mind that he had the perfect looks for the role: Tall, handsome with a deep voice. She couldn’t help but wonder whether he could sing.
“Actually, I was pretty bad,” he admitted with a chuckle. “But I liked it.”
“These are fun things,” she agreed. Even if Taylor is the director, and somehow Kirk always ends up playing the lead.
“And what are your plans for tonight?” Cyclone asked.
“Well, since I failed miserably in trying to carve Cher’s face into a pumpkin, I think I’ll grab a coffee at Luke’s, then I take my seat on jury of the costume competition, have a few drinks then TP Taylor’s house and blame it on the kids,” she told him. “Would you like to join me?”
“In throwing toilet paper at Taylor Doose’s house?”
“In the whole thing. Except for being on the jury. You can still join the competition, though.”
“I wouldn’t want anyone to accuse you of being biased, so I’ll pass on that. But I’ll gladly watch it.”
A smile touched Lorelai’s lips.
“Good answer,” she said. “Also, before we leave, something is missing from your costume,” she told him. “Do you mind if I add something to it?”
“No,” he shrugged his shoulders. “As long as it’s not more straws. I have enough of that.”
“It’s not straw,” she assured him, heading towards the stairs. “I’ll be back in a minute.”
Cyclone followed her into the living room where he found a carved pumpkin (not Cher) and a bowl of candy on the table. Next to it he saw Adelaide’s box of Kleenex and her fluffy slippers on the floor. As he was waiting for her to come back, he found himself humming Sky’s solo song: Luck, be a lady tonight.
“This will go well with your costume,” Lorelai’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts as she walked down the stairs with a red bandana in her hand.
Then she stood right in front of the aviator and tied it around his neck. He felt his heart skipping a beat as her scent crawled into his nose, making him realize how close they stand to each other. From the small smile on her lips he could tell she was well-aware of it, too.
“Now you’re a full-blown scarecrow,” she announced, gently patting him on the chest.
“Thank you,” he said. “Now I only need a brain.”
“Let’s hope someone will dress up as the Wizard of Oz,” Lorelai said.
“Luck, be a lady tonight,” Cyclone said with a chuckle.
“And don’t forget to take a treat,” she reminded him. “I have plenty of candy. But be careful, because some of them will paint your tongue.”
“Actually, I don’t have a sweet tooth,” he admitted. “But thank you.”
“I do have some adult treats as well, like a pumpkin-flavored liquor, but that one is so horrible that I wouldn’t even give it to my worst enemy. Or maybe there is some whisky in the cupboard.”
“Lorelai, it’s okay,” he said, placing a hand on her arm to prevent her from walking away.
She looked at his hand first and then up at him. She swallowed thickly when their eyes met. She remembered that the last time she let him go without a kiss despite how much she wanted it. But she felt it would be too much, too soon. She bit on her lower lip as her gaze fell onto his mouth. It might still be too much, but at least she had a good reason now.
He was still cursing himself for not being bold enough to kiss her before leaving, and now he had the chance to do it, as she was standing only a few inches away from him, with her mesmerizing blue eyes fixed on his lips. His heart was beating faster and he felt the urge to go for it: to close the distance between them and finally kiss her. He wasn’t sure how she would react. Perhaps he should ask first.
“I…” he began.
“Listen…” she said, right at the same time.
“You go first,” Cyclone said with a small, apologetic smile.
“No, you go first.”
“Ladies first,” he insisted.
“Okay,” she said with a chuckle. “There’s another kind of treat, but that’s a special one. Only for certain people who don't like tongue-painting candy,” she told him, moving closer and closer. “Which is a shame, because tongue-painting candy is fun, but they said that about the Titanic as well and we all know what happened.”
“Go on,” he said with his heart beating faster.
“Anyway, you have to keep it a secret,” she continued, leaning forward. “You cannot tell it to anybody.”
“I won’t, I promise,” he said, leaning forward as well.
“Good,” she said softly, then she finally kissed him.
Cyclone couldn’t help but smile against her lips, and sliding his arms around her waist to pull her even closer, he passionately returned the kiss, making her moan into his mouth. This was the best Halloween treat he had ever received.
“I must say,” Lorelai began once their lips parted, “that tongue-painting candy is extremely overrated.”
“Couldn’t agree more,” the aviator said then pulled her in for another kiss.

And here is a moodboard for the Cyclone/Lorelai thingy
His car broke down in this small town and the garage was already closed for the day, so he had no choice but to stay the night in a place he didn’t know anybody. And the whole town was preparing for an event that night. This could be the perfect scenario for a horror movie, Cyclone thought, munching on some french fries, when the diner’s door opened and the woman from the hotel walked inside. Or maybe not.

I just can't get that Lorelai/Cyclone thing out of my head
I mean, look at them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It happens during the summer when Rory is in Washington (so, right before season 3), and Cyclone is driving through the town when his car breaks down
But Gypsy's garage is already closed for the day, so he is advised to stay the night and go back tomorrow
Cyclone goes to the Independence Inn, where she meets Lorelai who not only gives him a room, but also recommends a few places to go now that he's got stuck in Stars Hollow
However, she is genuinely surprised when later she runs into him at Luke's, and when he asks her to join him at dinner, she says yes
However, when she gets up and goes to Luke for something, Taylor and some others (including Kirk) want to drag Cyclone along to the Stars Hollow Militia Re-enactors' meeting, as he's a military person, and Lorelai has to save him
By telling Taylor that Cyclone has signed up for the lip sync battle and still has to practice.
Which means that they have more or less two hours to find a song and be able to perform it. (No idea what the song would be, though)
Surprisingly, Cyclone embraces the weirdness of the town and has genuine fun that night (mind you, he's not an admiral yet)
Sometime during the evening he and Luke agree that Lorelai's call sign would be Junkie (for being a coffee and a junk food addict) and she accepts it
Cyclone then walks Lorelai home and they keep talking on the porch for a while, they might even kiss, who knows
The next day, Gypsy fixes his car and he leaves the town
But a few weeks later a letter arrives from the North Island Naval Air Station, and inside there's a patch with "Lorelai 'Junkie' Gilmore" embroidered on it

Title: Snow Fandom: Top Gun: Maverick, Gilmore Girls Characters: Beau “Cyclone” Simpson, Lorelai Gilmore Relationships: Lorelai/Cyclone Word Count: 560 Rating: Teen and up audiences Summary: Waking up in his hotel room in the middle of the night after the Santa Beauty Pageant, Lieutenant Beau Cyclone Simpson feels that something is missing. Or someone. Sequel to Chapter 6.
December 11 - Snow
Waking up, Lieutenant Beau “Cyclone” Simpson felt something was missing. He was in a hotel room in Stars Hollow, after being the first outsider to win the town’s Santa Beauty Pageant, and afterwards he had a few drinks with Lorelai Gilmore, the coffee addict hotel manager whom he met during his first visit to the Connecticut town and who made him come back over and over again. A smile touched his lips as he recalled her kisses, her laughter when he accidentally tickled her, the touch of her skin against his, her blue eyes darkening with desire. He reached out to pull her back into his arms when he realized she was no longer there.
He switched on the lamp on the nightstand, and a relieved sigh left his mouth as she saw her standing out in the balcony, fully dressed, wearing her coat.
“What are you doing there?” he asked as he got up from the bed and wrapped the blanket around himself. He walked closer to the window, but it was way too cold for him to go outside.
Lorelai turned around and flashed a smile at the aviator.
“I smell snow,” she told him, and he could hear the excitement in her voice.
Seeing that Cyclone only had a blanket wrapped around his body, she came inside and closed the door. She still brought in a wave of cold that made him shiver.
“Do you like snow?” he asked.
“It makes everything magical,” she replied, taking off her coat.
Looking out of the window, Cyclone couldn’t see any signs of snow, but then again, he was living in California for quite a while now and he hadn’t seen snow for a long time. He slipped his arms around her and pressed a kiss on her cheek. Her skin was cold, and the touch of his warm lips made her giggle.
“It doesn’t look like it,” he admitted.
“Trust me,” she said, leaning into his embrace.
“It’s you who live in a place where it actually snows,” he said.
As they were standing at the window, Cyclone began to feel cold as he was wearing the blanket only while Lorelai was fully dressed and still radiating cold.
“Shall we go back to bed?” he murmured softly into her ear and smiled when he caught her reflection smiling.
“Why, are you cold?” she asked in a playful tone as she pulled away a little so she could face him.
“A little,” he admitted, and it wasn’t surprising, as he only had the blanket wrapped around his waist, while she was fully dressed.
“This might warm you up a little,” Lorelai said and placed a kiss on his collarbone.
Her lips began to travel towards his left shoulder while her fingers were gently tracing his bare chest. The warmth and coldness combined was driving the aviator crazy, making his heart race. He felt like his hands were on autopilot as they reached out for the hem of her long-sleeved top. Too bad she had to stop kissing him so he could pull it off her and throw it to the floor. A smile touched his lips noticing that she wasn’t wearing her bra. Wrapping his arms around her, Cyclone captured Lorelai’s mouth in a fierce, hungry kiss and as he laid her down on the bed, it started snowing outside.

Title: Scholarship program Fandom: Gilmore Girls, Top Gun: Maverick Characters: Lorelai Gilmore, Luke Danes, Sookie St. James, Jackson Belleville, Taylor Doose, Beau “Cyclone” Simpson Relationships: Lorelai / Cyclone Word Count: 1273 Rating: Teen and up audiences Songs: Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas Summary:   It's time for the annual Santa Claus Beauty Pageant in Stars Hollow! With an outsider amongst the competitors: Lieutenant Beau Cyclone Simpson. Sets in 2003. Notes: Okay, so shipping Cyclone with Lorelai Gilmore came to my mind a few months ago, and despite how random this is, I grew quite fond of this ship, so I had to include them in this challenge as well. Also, this chapter tells the origins of the Santa figurine on Cyclone's desk (the one that appeared in Chapter 5). You can find some more stuff about them here. And just a warning: this one is written in first person which is something I rarely do when writing in English, but I wanted to experiment a little bit.
December 6 – Scholarship program
I have to admit, it was my idea. I just said it as a joke, but Miss Patty liked it so much that she convinced Taylor to include it in the town’s Christmas events. It wasn’t surprising because unlike in the baking contest, he would definitely stand a chance in a Santa Claus beauty pageant. For obvious reasons. He does look a little like Santa Claus, although the real Santa definitely wouldn’t make comments on what your fence looks like or make a scene in your diner every second day for not putting a dancing reindeer in your window. Anyway, Taylor won three times, which wasn’t hard keeping in mind that he was competing against Kirk or Andrew, just to name a few other contestants. None of them comes to my mind if I think of Santa Claus.
The Santa Beauty Pageant is like any other beauty pageant, except for the bathing suit part. They have to sort out presents instead, but the conversation and the performance parts are the same. Even with the world peace thing. Most Santa Clauses want world peace. Except for Taylor, who wants a doormat next to every fireplace, so when he goes down a chimney, he can wipe his feet so he wouldn’t get the whole living room dirty while going to the tree.
Luckily, this year, for the first time ever, I wasn’t part of the jury, because Jackson was one o the contestants and I didn’t want to be accused with bias. This way I could root for him with Sookie and make snarky comments on the other Santas. I also tried to convince Luke to come as well, but of course, he declined it.
“I don’t even know what’s the point of this,” he growled. “A Santa Beauty Pageant? They are not even beautiful!”
“Hey, this is not a beauty pageant! It’s a scholarship program!” I said, quoting Miss Congeniality, but of course, he didn’t notice that.
“Scholarship program? You mean that meet and greet tomorrow when they’ll have to listen to the kids asking for stuff they would never get?”
“Oh come on, Luke, you’re such a Grinch!”
“Why? I don’t want to steal Christmas; I just have better things to do than to watch the people who make a fool of themselves in every town event making a fool of themselves in a Santa costume,” and with that he went back to the kitchen and yelled at Caesar for something.
Well, it’s his loss.
“It’s starting, it’s starting!” Sookie exclaimed sitting next to me as Taylor, three-times winner and our host this year came on stage.
No wonder Sookie was so excited as this year her husband was also in the contest, and she kept telling me that he had a chance to win. We cheered for him when he came onstage wearing the red costume and I had to admit that he looked convincing in it. However, when he started to recite The Night Before Christmas using vegetables as puppets, I had to bite on my lips to hide my laughter, because he put so much effort in it, and I love Jackson with all my heart, but the whole thing was ridiculous. I mean, who uses eggplants as reindeer? I was so glad I wasn’t in the jury this year!
“Our next contestant is an outsider,” Taylor announced once we watched Putzie’s Little Drummer Boy and Kirk’s presentation on what to do when we get stuck in a chimney. “He doesn’t live here, but he is no stranger to this town. Please welcome Lieutenant Beau Simpson!”
I could feel my heart skip a beat as I heard the familiar name. What on earth he is doing here again? Whenever we had a town event, he appeared out of nowhere, as if there was something in this town that makes him return again and again. My stomach jumped when I saw him on the stage. He looked so great in the red suit that my brain filled with inappropriate thoughts. Which was quite weird as I don’t usually think that Santa is hot – I mean, he’s an old, bearded man in a red suit who gives presents to children. There’s nothing sexy about that. About Cyclone, on the other hand, there isn’t a thing that is not sexy. Even that red coat with a white faux-fur collar and the fake beard suited him well.
“Hello, Stars Hollow,” he said it into the microphone as he looked around the audience and then his gaze stopped on me. “It’s nice to be back.”
I couldn’t hide my smile as our eyes met. I was sure I would never see him again after Halloween, yet he was here.
“What are we going to see now?” Taylor asked.
“I’ve brought you a song,” he replied. “To wish you all a merry little Christmas.”
That was the first time I heard him sing, and even though I knew he used to do theater in the Academy, I was surprised how good his voice was. It was soft and deep as he sang Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. It felt like a mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows. I shouldn’t tell it to Sookie who tried everything not to look impressed by the aviator as his husband was in the competition as well. However, I heard her sigh at the end of the song. Poor Jackson! After the song Cyclone had both the audience and the jury wrapped around his finger.
No wonder he won the pageant and got the Santa figurine as the prize. I couldn’t help but wonder how he would be doing on that meet and greet the next morning with the local kids.
When the people started leaving, I waited for him, and once he shook hands with everybody, he finally stepped to me.
“I thought I’d never see you again,” I admitted.
“Well, here I am,” he smiled at me under the fake beard. “I thought I’d surprise you, Junkie,” he added, using the call sign he and Luke gave me.
“You did,” I nodded. “Tell me, do you get a newsletter that tells you about the events in town? Because it seems to me you like it here.”
“In fact, I do,” he replied. “I mean, I do like it. You know, there is something here that makes me want to come back,” he told me, looking into my eyes in a way that it made me think that the ‘something’ is actually ‘someone’.
“I’m glad I wasn’t in the jury, otherwise I could’ve been accused of being biased,” I told him, trying to change the topic.
“So, you liked my performance,” he stated.
“You sing very well.”
“I want to celebrate somewhere,” he said. “Get a few drinks. Would you like to join?”
“Of course I would, just please, change first. Drinking with Santa feels a little weird. Even if he won a beauty pageant.”
“Hey! It’s not a beauty pageant! It’s a scholarship program!” he said.
I couldn’t help but laugh. I didn’t know he had seen Miss Congeniality, too. I looked up at him, and when our eyes met, I fell silent. My stomach began to tremble, and I had to take a deep breath to calm myself down a little. What has gotten into me?
“I have a question,” Cyclone said.
“What is it?”
“Can I kiss you here or shall we find a mistletoe?”
A grin broke out on my face as I pulled his beard down under his chin then I stood on my tiptoes to kiss him.

this is so weird of me to send but i was just scrollin thru the tag and ur posts are reminding me of jhamms brief cameo in gg LOL is that what inspired it?
Hello!
Actually, no, it wasn't that! To be honest, I totally forgot that Jon Hamm was in an episode of Gilmore Girls (I have to add that I didn't really know who he was until recently), so thank you for reminding me of that! :D
The whole Lorelai/Cyclone thing was inspired by this post which came to my mind shortly after reading this one.
But, for anyone who is like me and forgot that Jon Hamm once was in Gilmore Girls, here's a video of his cameo in the series:
youtube
(Of course, it's not made by me)
