Would you consider selling both short and long sleeved versions of your button-downs? I have sensory issues with long sleeves, and attempting to cuff long sleeves into short sleeves makes them too tight around the arm, unattractive, and likely to come undone over the course of the day. I can't justify paying $80+ for shirts I will have to cut apart and alter, and I was really really hoping you would make more of the buttondowns in short sleeve polyester. Ever since Morning Witch switched to cotton I can't justify buying more of their shirts because the cotton is so terrible to care for and iron. You were my last hope for cool shirts that I can wear to feel more comfortable in my gender presentation without having to kill my back ironing every time I wear one. I really hope you can consider offering both (and maybe look into a coton/poly blend or else they will be just as much of a nightmare to care for as the Morning Witch shirts).

the button shirts im proposing are a stretch cotton jersey (95% cotton, 5% elastane), which is different from the MWS 100% cotton shirts. we also don’t use the same factory as MWS, which should be pretty obvious based on price alone. (frankly if their cost per button shirt was $40 and they retailed them for $50, i’d be horrified)

i have not ironed our samples yet, but that is something we’ll be doing later. out of dedication to our cause (and totally not the chronic fatigue that is kicking my ass), i have left our sample shirts in a crumpled mess on our coffee table so i’ll be able to see very easily how much ironing/steaming they’ll need lol

2. Describe your favorite pair of socks? they have seagulls on them surrounded by like. chips and fries and soda and some of them are eating and some of them are yelling, pretty sure they were a gift from zan at some point in the last few years (edit: these ones! ty zan for providing the link)

4. What do you wear when you have to dress nicely? depends on the occasion and also, more importantly, the weather. when it's cold enough or for job interviews, nice sweater, buttondown shirt, dress pants. when it's warmer and/or sometimes for slightly more casual events I do the same combo except with a skirt instead. and when it's too hot I wear dresses. gender: masc until the temperature gets above like 70 degrees

30. Is your closet organized? If so, how? the floor is for backpacks and duffel bags that I'm not using, the hangers are categorized by type of clothing (dresses -> skirts -> jackets -> vests -> long sleeve shirts -> sleeveless shirts -> stuff that's harder to categorize, mostly cosplay outfits)

Hi! I was wondering if I could ask for some advice? I get a lot of euphoria from wearing button down, long sleeve shirts with vests (especially if they have a goth vibe!), but I’ve moved somewhere very hot so it’s not very practical :( Does anyone have any outfit ideas that might give similar vibes for hotter weather?

YES I am very sorry for how long this took. Firstly; you can still wear your vests and buttondowns! However, very keyly, you need to wear lightweight articles (cotton and linen are good for staying out in the heat, i've found) and pay very close attention to how your body feels. If you feel too hot or a little woozy, seek shade and water immediately. If you're fairskinned, this is also a fabulous way to avoid sunburn.

Secondly, I would go for flowier garments! big ruffly sleeves, or shirts you can unlace if the mood so strikes you. Or, also, wear just the vest. Personally, I find that black tanktops + sunglasses + imposing boots still give off a slightly gothy vibe, though i'm more of a steampunker than a goth, so take that with a pillar of salt.

These articles might also give you a few pointers: article one article two -- I saw quite a few fashion collection websites suggest parasols, too.

perhaps you'll find some likeminded people on gothic.net, and maybe, juuust maybe, someone who sees this will have some pointers to keep you cool and in euphoria in the warmer weather?

So I've bought myself a couple of short-sleeve buttondown shirts, one with little skeletons all over it and one with little mansions with happy little ghosties coming out, because I need to find ways to feel more goth during summer.

But now I'm anxious because I realized that my dad might well have the same reaction to these as he had towards my goth patch jacket I put together in the winter (he called it disturbing because of all the death themed stuff and shunned me whenever I wore it).

Now I'm trying to figure out how to explain goth culture to him if he pulls that shit again (as if anything I say will have an effect on his perspective lmao) and my brain is ping-ponging around, trying to concisely define the core values of goth culture in a way everyone can understand, because if you think about it long enough, you realize how deep that philosophic well is and how counterintuitive it probably seems from the outside looking in.

Let's see if I can break this down:

Goth culture is about finding beauty and meaning in the dark and grotesque, because if you can do that, then life becomes a little less scary

It's about identifying with the dark and grotesque, because you've been treated as an outcast in some form, and celebrating strangeness is a way of being kind to yourself when others aren't

It's about finding the freedom to express one's gender, sexuality, and/or religion in a non-traditional way

Goth culture is, in many ways, a coping mechanism for living in an unforgiving and unjust world (hence why an increase in goth population is an omen of social and economic upheaval)

The difference between a punk and a goth is like if you have two people standing on a roof as flood waters rush by, and one of them says "fuck everyone who has ever denied climate change" and the other one just quietly observes the patterns in the waterflow. It is possible to be both of these people at once.
