guys I have a serious question.. tomorrow I'm seeing my biological father, he's a narcissist and possibly a psychopath (he k worded our cat when I was a kid) and did many horrible things to my mom and I. watching hannibal with a straight person makes you realize that they really have no sort of gaydar. or like they just think that straight is the default unless someone explicitly says they aren't or engages in gay sex. i say this because i have been, and since about the time in season 1 when hannibal tells will that he wants to father abigail with him, i've said "hey that's a little gay." the response i was met with was "it's not gay, they're just close" or something along the lines of it; even through to season 2 and well into season 3, I was met with the same response. but if you think about it, if either hannibal or will had been a woman, things like hannibal telling mason about margot and will's baby and hannibal telling the red dragon where will's house was would be labeled as acts of jealousy. things like hannibal's hiding of abigail so that he could unveil her to will right before they ran away together because he knows how much will loves abigail and how much it hurt him when she "died" would be seen as a display of love and affection. their relationship and hannibal's feelings for will would've been seen for what they are, and the person i was watching the show with would have most likely hoped for their relationship to flourish and work out in the end. it just goes to show how different even viewing media and the relationships in that media is for people who aren't queer
