For the sake of argument, let’s say that the novel perspective of the Prapaisky first meeting —where Prapai is clearly joking with Sky about trading sex for safe passage— is what was intended for the characters in episode 8, it just didn’t translate well from the book to the show. With that context, Prapai and Sky’s first meeting comes down to a massive case of miscommunication.

If Sky knew Prapai— knew that his arrogant, cocky attitude was just him joking around and trying to get a reaction out of him, he would have known he could refuse him freely. He could have pushed back without consequence, he was safe to do so. But in that moment, Sky was trapped in a dangerous situation— one in-part related to his asshole ex, where he feared everyone else present there were also assholes, and he’s being propositioned into having sex to be allowed to leave. Prapai is a stranger, Sky has no idea what this guy’s personality is like, no idea he was joking, he just assumed from the request and dire circumstances that he was being serious. Probably because that kinda thing was something his ex would do, and Sky had no reason to assume Prapai was any different. Sky thought he had no choice but to agree to it, so he did.

Prapai is the same as Sky in that he doesn’t know Sky. He doesn’t even know why he’s at the race since Sky is stubbornly staying quiet. He knows nothing about his history, his trauma, or his experience with people coercing these kinds of things out of him. Prapai thinks Sky is in on the joke, he thinks he is flirting back, playing into the fake threat as a form of roleplay. So Prapai reads his signals as mutual interest and goes along with it because he is attracted to Sky and he’s the kind of guy who sleeps around anyway. So if Sky is agreeing to it, then he must be okay with it, so why not take him home and have a little fun if that’s what they both want?

This set-up hurts because they are both reading the situation completely wrong! Since they’re strangers meeting for the first time, they both make all the worst assumptions about each other. Prapai is genuinely intrigued by Sky, he even asks for his name and number after-the-fact because he wants to see him again. When Sky leaves without a word, he just assumes he’s playing hard to get and doesn’t realize anything is wrong. But because Sky wasn’t in on the joke, he doesn’t recognize the sincerity in Prapai’s attempts at getting his contact info and he leaves feeling resentful and used— cementing his first impression of Prapai as a manipulative asshole who threatened him into having sex. When Prapai was actually just flirting with him and still fully believes the sex was consensual.

AND NOW Sky thinks that all Prapai wants from him is sex because he doesn’t realize that Prapai’s been genuinely interested in him from the start, and Prapai assumes that Sky must already know he’s seriously interested in him BECAUSE he had sex with him! Prapai has no idea why Sky would doubt his interest in him, he thinks he’s made it obvious, meanwhile Sky has EVERY reason to doubt Prapai’s interest in him because of his own sex-related trauma that Prapai unknowingly triggered.

God, these two are making my head spin! They’re gonna feel so bad when/if they figure it all out.

Love in the Air parallels || Prapai's condo

It was interesting to see how Ep 13 mirrored Ep 8. The scenes were shot at the same place and Sky even stops and stands in the exact same spot. When Sky came out of the condo for the first time in Ep 8, he felt used and upset. He clearly feels bad about himself and about the whole situation because it reminded him of how he was used by Gun. The sad background music enforced that.

In Ep 13, the condo has recently turned into a good place for Sky and he comes back to it expecting it to be a safe place. But he has just been reminded of his traumatic past by meeting Gun. He touches his hand where Prapai drew the wind symbol to reassure himself. The lighting here is also warmer than in Ep 8, fitting to the little comfort that the memory of the drawing on his hand brings Sky. Yet there is great foreshadowing that the condo will continue to be a bad place for Sky. Despite Sky trying to calm himself down, the music remains sad and he still feels visibly unwell. He seems hesitant to enter the condo. He is even wearing a similar shirt to Ep 13. In Ep 8 he walks out with a bad feeling and in Ep 13 he walks in with a bad feeling.

Headcanon

When Sky gets sick, Prapai doesn't know how to take care of him. yes he did raise his siblings when his fathers where busy, which was not all the time but still a lot, but he never had to tend to them when sick. the maids did that for him. so now that he has to take care of Sky who's burning to touch and keeps having those nightmares that seem to take all his peace away, prapai is absolutely helpless. so he reaches out to his rock. he calls his dad. he calls porsche. he knows his dad raised his uncle chay all by himself and there's no one better than his dad to call for this.

he tells dad all the details of Sky's condition and writes down every tiny thing that dad tells him to do. ice water and a cloth for the fever. warm soup when Sky wakes up. proper blankets to keep him warm. and he himself for the nightmares. he thanks his dad, reassures him of his own health, asks about his papa, his uncles. he promises to bring Sky home to meet soon as he can. and then he hangs up after telling his dad a soft 'i love you'.

As much as we’re all looking forward to Prapai finding out about Sky’s ex and going full protective boyfriend mode, I gotta say I’m just as excited to see Rain’s reaction.

My guy almost fought Stop one-v-one just for insulting Payu and didn’t even hesitate to kick the shit out of him after the kidnapping fiasco. He made Prapai swear he could trust him before handing over the keys to Sky’s apartment. If ya’ll don’t think Rain’s gonna find out what happened to his BFF and then hunt this man to the ends of the earth to curb stomp him into hell where he belongs, I dunno what to tell you.

These two scenes hit me so hard because I recognized myself in them.

Me, the person that learned to just bottle up every negative emotion possible and walk through life pretending that everything was ok, that nothing could get to me, that I was safe and that life was going great. Me, the person that have people relying on me, helps everyone even if it is at my well-being’s expense, so much that I’ve had multiple people telling me to start putting myself first. Me, the person that feels like crying would only make the problem real, give it existence, give it power

Me, the person that when the trauma resurfaces, shuts down and have no life in their eyes. Me, the person that dissociates when in confrontation with my pain. Me, the person that still holds onto hope that things will be different one day.

I’ve read the novel (at least the part where it talks about Next week’s episode), and it was one of the hardest things I’ve done in my life because it felt like I was watching myself relieve everything that happened to me, the description of how Sky was feeling, what he was thinking, how the environment was around him. It was brutal, it was painful, it was excruciating, it was terrible.
