The newest event in Obey Me is horribly unfair to F2P players
Hello, I absolutely love this game and want it to grow and last a long time, I’ve been playing since day 1 and love it to bits. But, in the most recent events I’ve noticed a terrible trend, the events are slowly getting increasingly impossible for F2P players.
Back in the earlier events a player only needed about 60,000 points to get past pg.1, but in the most recent event you need 95,000 to get past page 1.
Tumblr media
This is not good and, as a game designer,  I feel I should express my concern and explain why I feel this. Under the cut you will see my reasoning and thought process.
The event that is currently happening as I make this is the Paws and Claws event
Tumblr media
The cheat cards for this event are:
Tumblr media
I’ll break down the total bonus point amounts for each card
SR Lucifer: +6 for first copy +1 every skill LV
SR Beel:  +6 for first copy +1 every skill LV
SSR Mammon: +18 for first copy +4 every skill LV
UR Satan: +36 for first copy +6 every skill LV
UR Asmo: +36 for first copy +6 every skill LV
I will also like to establish how many stages there are for each page of the event, this event has 2 pages of levels with a grand total of 26 stages
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Each stage lets you play 3 times for free each day, costing 8AP each
Tumblr media
the player also gets 5 extra plays from watching ads, so if we take 26 x 3 + 5 = 83 plays per day,
Then we take 83s x 8e = 664  energy needed per day to get each free play per day.
-----------------------------------------------------
Now for the next section lets assume that the player did not get any of the cheat cards and only has the default 120 points per play.
83s x 120p = 9,960 points per day
9960p x 11d = 109,560 total points during the event
Tumblr media
109,560 is just over the final amount for the first page, getting them the SR demon card for the event. But this is assuming the player is able to do the Max amount of free plays each day which is easier said then done.
lets start by seeing how much energy the player gets during the typical day just via time.
Tumblr media
The player gets 1 energy every 5 minutes with a cap of 100 (120 if VIP) that means that if we 24 x 60= 1440 then 1440 / 5 = 288 per day
that still leaves us 376 energy short of the needed 664 energy.  so now lets add in the other free energy in a day
+60 from the daily 2 Beel missions
+30 from Ads
+20 from daily missions
+20 from interacting with demons after stages
potentially +50 from friends
= 180 energy from secondary sources
this gives us a total of 468 still 196 energy from the needed 664. And lets keep in mind that getting the 468 implys that the player is playing PERFECTLY doing everything every day. there are a few other ways of getting energy, such as the 30-50 energy we occasionally get in the gift box once a day, but that is not consistent, same with the energy gained from login bonuses.
There is also the energy from the event its self which has 230 energy available on the 1st page, but it should be viewed as a last resort boost when you need it so I recommend saving them for the half part of the event.
Tumblr media
the way the player would be able to get the last remaining energy is from the daily flash sale where the player can get 200 energy for 10dp, but this will need the player to pay 100dp during the entire event, half of the daily intake of DP from daily missions.
But lets assume the player does not want to spend the 10dp, or does not see the flash sale since sometimes they take forever to show up. what is the total points they can get with the free energy they are given each day?
468 / 8 = 58.8, but we cant do .8 of a stage so 58.
58s x 120e = 6960 points
6960p x 11d = 76,560 points during the event
Tumblr media
this will get you just above 2/3 of the way though the 1st pg, THE FIRST PAGE, so unless the player is willing to spend DP on refilling energy they are stuck without even getting the SR Demon card for this event.  --------------------------------------------------
Now lets assume the F2P player is willing to go all out with the DP they do have for this event, how far can they get while still having 0 cheat cards?
The player gets 18DP everyday for doing daily missions, and roughly 50DP from the event.
Tumblr media
this means they will get about 248DP during the event not counting any extras from other missions, devil tree, or potential compensation gifts.  if you deduct the 100DP from the daily flash energy flash sale that leaves 148DP for other purposes, such as stage and normal energy refills.
it cost 5DP to refill 3 plays of a stage, so they can refill stages about 29 times, meaning roughly 87 more plays which will still only give them 10,440 more points getting them a grand total of exactly 120,000 points in this event not even the half way mark of the second page. At that point I personally don’t think it would be worth using the 148DP to get to that point, id suggest saving them or using them for the LV up flash sale since at least then you get 5 vouchers.
so to be clear, a F2P player with 0 cheat cards can only get around 120,000 points without spending money.
but this means they will be using all their DP on energy and stage refills, when I imagine most F2P would rather save for the level up flash sale for the 5 Demon Vouchers.
This also assumes the player is playing absolutely perfectly, without missing any Energy drops, which can be very hard for people to maintain while also sleeping, for 11 days in a row as from personal experience it gets harder to maintain as time goes on.
---------------------------------------------------
What does this mean?
I believe this is unfair for F2P players, especially when you look at past events when it  would only take about 60,000 points for the first page, each event for the past few have raised the amount by about 10,000 - 20,000 thousand points which if they keep this up it will be almost impossible for F2P players to keep up. I understand that this is a company that needs money to run and continue creating this game we all love, but making it so the game is only viable for whales is not the way to go.
when it comes to mobile games there are roughly 3 categories of players
whales - big spenders
dolphins - people who spend some but not a large amount
Free 2 Play - do not spend
as a whole Whales tend to only make up a small portion of the player base, just look at the people in the top 10 of the current event.
Tumblr media
See how quickly the numbers drop from absolute lunacy to more reasonable amounts (still a lot) meaning thousands of dollars difference between the people who payed enough money to reach that point. So by appealing to only those people they are alienating 90% of the player base, which is a very bad idea.
By alienating the majority of players they risk loosing the currently very active fan base around the game, as people get more and more frustrated and eventually give it up out of frustration. Obey me has been very lucky to attract such a large fanbase so quickly, its only about 6 months old at the time that i’m writing this and its already has a massive and active fanbase creating tons of fanwork and engaging with each other. But if people start to feel like the game doesn't care about them and only caters to Whales they will stop playing and the community will slowly start to wither.
--------------------------------------------------
My Suggestions
Several months ago Solmare listened to the feedback from players about how unfair they thought the events were and listened, they doubled the event stages allowing people to get more points then they could before, making it so F2P players could get to the end of the 2nd page if they put in the work. But by raising the point totals needed to get though the pages they are making that change completely redundant. Leaving us with events that take twice the amount of work for the same rewards as before. I understand they are figuring this out as they go and adjusting events constantly trying to work out a balance, but what they currently have is not good for the games long term as it will alienate a large section of the fan base.
I believe that that they should either lower the total points needed for each page or raise the default point total, to make it so a F2P player with 0 cheat cards can get to the end of the first page without spending any DP
if they put in the work. Then make it so people who have summoned some SRs and a SSR cheat card can get to the 2nd page reliably, then the 3rd page+ can be for people who are willing to spend money and or are just lucky enough in the gacha. this way there is still the incentive for people to pay money if they want to, but don’t feel like they are forced to. (Although I imagine people are already spending a lot in the gacha to get the cards they want anyway)
F2P people will still not be able to always get to page 3+ but this will also help long term for if/when they decide to do event re-runs. Since it would give players who where around for the first time something to still work for since they will likely be able to get the shards needed the 2nd time though.
----------------------------------------------
What can you and I do?
It may not feel like we can do much about this, but Solmare has listened to the fans before. We also know that some of them do look at the content fans make and discuss.
SO talk about it, Tweet at them, share your displeasure, show your friends have them tweet it out, talk about it on the facebook page (be civil though), just kick up a fuss so they can see how much this is hurting the player base.  if you don’t know what to say to them, you can even tweet this at them, copy and past it, do what ever, just let them know how upset you are.
Thank you for reading! and please, reblog this and spread it so others can see it.

SuBlue WhiteShark Mix Underwater Seascooter Review (+Action Camera Mount!)
If you have tried snorkeling, then you will appreciate how beautiful the ocean is beneath you. It’s a real sight to behold and an experience everyone should try. Kicking through the water viewing the sea life beneath is truly amazing. If you enjoy that then you are going to love our SuBlue WhiteShark Mix Underwater Seascooter review.
Claimed to be the world’s smallest Sea/Aqua Scooter it really packs a punch. Let dive in (pardon the pun) and give this little entry-level Sea Scooter a full review.
Just to get off to a good start, if you’re not really sure what a Seascooter even is then here is a brief description before our full review.
Sea Scooters are very compact and lightweight battery-powered devices that normally have one or two propellers, kind of like underwater drones which you hold onto and they pull you gently through the water letting you enjoy the view without expelling any energy making your snorkeling ten times more enjoyable. Of course, they can be used in pools just for the sheer fun of it.
Ok so let’s dive into our review.
Quick Overlook of the SuBlue Underwater Seascooter
Let me start with the design! Wow! Where do I start?! It reminds me of those Sci-fi movies, in which the hero rides on the strangest and the most exciting vehicles you have ever seen! This is how I feel when I just look at this product! The color? Absolutely amazing! The seascooter comes with several external designs in blue, white, and black! But it doesn’t stop there! Let’s talk about its additional features!
The Sea Scooter is equipped with dual motors which makes it very robust for cruising under the water. Nowadays, being excited by an underwater activity is very appealing, but there is an insatiable tendency to record every moment of our life! You can do this while enjoying riding under the water, thanks to the GoPro mount attached to the Sea Scooter. Besides, the symmetrical and safe design makes this underwater scooter extremely easy to use, which is also perfect for kids!
Although the aqua scooter is very small (L465mm*W230mm*H230mm) and not heavy (3.5 kgs), it rides like a beast! So, you can comfortably carry it when you are traveling. The battery is also chargeable and sealed and will pull you effortlessly through the water for roughly 30 minutes. Rest assured, the battery is water-proof as a Rolex watch! With a dive depth of up to 40 meters, and a maximum speed of 3.3 miles/h makes this model a really good entry point family-friendly Sea Scooter.
People have liked this very much! The vehicle is a four stars product on Amazon, receiving very positive feedback from the reviewers. One reviewer gives five stars and comments as follows: Greats scooter, this is a second one brought for grandkids. Last, about an hour which is plenty, get a second battery. Built well, a little pricey but worth it, small weighs about 5 lbs. another reviewer expresses his opinion as follows: Well-made device and shipping were fast. Will Purchase again!
Pros and Cons of the SuBlue Underwater Seascooter
So, let’s review the advantages and disadvantages of the seascooter. As we mentioned earlier, the symmetrical design makes it a user-friendly vehicle. You can easily grab the nearly horizontal bars attached to the motors. These motors are also protected by propeller guards for safety.
They also create thrust as strong as 17.6 pounds. Besides, we can exclusively call the vehicle the tiniest scooter in the world! To me, the scooter doesn’t have any cons, but running just for 30 minutes before it needs to be charged can sometimes be counted as a weak point.
Main Features of the SuBlue Underwater Seascooter
Here are some headlines related to WhiteShark Mix Underwater Sea Scooter:

What does the company say about the product?
The company has tried to highlight some features of their Sea Scooter on social network websites. For example, powerful motors & holding control with both hands, portability, and safety has been stressed by the company. Here is a nice sketch from Amazon.com, showing the practical features of the scooter. Check this out:
Conclusion – Should You Buy It?
Before you make up your mind take a look at the official SuBlue WhiteShark Mix Underwater Seascooter Video and see it in Action!
youtube
So, here we tried to introduce you WhiteShark Mix Underwater Seascooter. Now it’s time for the big question! Is it worth buying it? According to Amazon, the product comes with five prices, ranging from $489.99 to $699.00.
The color and external design do seem to be an important factor in pricing. So, be careful, this product comes with different colors and external designs. All in all, this product gives you the opportunity to enjoy it while traveling due to its very compact design! It is also very lightweight and designed with safety in mind especially for use by younger kids.
With great overall reviews and some excellent features including the GoPro camera mount, makes this a hard one to pass on. It really does tick a lot of boxes especially the price points, weight and portability of the Sea Scooter. The only real cons about this model is the shorter continuous running time of about 30 mins. This is by no means a deal-breaker but might make you want to think about how you plan on using it.
The comments on Amazon are basically shouting ‘buy me, buy me’! So, what are you waiting for! it’s your turn trying it!

current mind-space//word vomit
it’s amazing how much can change in a few days, but it hasn’t been a week since my finals ended and i already felt so different. i have been doing f45 everyday this week (if not then some kind of workout, but i’ve really been into that recently). i am feeling so much better now without deadlines, sometimes i don’t know if i function better under pressure or not. i guess not, but then it’s amazing how much i can do and achieve under pressure. i need the right amount of pressure, and this semester it has been a little difficult for me to get around that.
last friday was kinda my last day of finals, i just had an essay to submit, and i am disappointed in myself and my work ethic because i submitted it at 9pm, went to my cousin’s (disappointing) party, and then professor emailed me to say that she cannot read Pages format (seriously smh @ my tardiness!!!), only got back at 1am that night and sent my mediocre essay. i am a little sad about it because i know that is not my 100%. idk why but college so far has just been a series of 80% effort. this paper was an interesting one, on airbnb, on the sharing economy, it’s a performance studies paper where i analyze the hospitality platform in terms of host-user relationship, parasitism and (attempted) to talk about free online labor. it is a little too late now but i kinda want to work on it again and like, submit for feedback. maybe ill ask taylor.
last saturday was kinda meh, i agreed to go to a *social* kinda event at a bar/club at chelsea, held for Asian-ivy-alumni-people that yanlin invited me too. it was at up&up and honestly a little...i didn’t enjoy it at all. the music sucked, the people were either too dorky or gross or old or weird, and the whole time i just kept saying to myself, “never again”. they said it was open bar but they only served absolut, which was shit. and then my friend’s two friends were...i feel sorry that this was their first clubbing experience. at the beginning my reaction was look at all these ivy alumni! get hitched with one of them for ~da connectsx~ (and nothing else) but no kidding i was actually interested in talking to them just to get to know what people who graduated from ivies are up to, and what are they doing at such events...and are they actually enjoying themselves because it was really kinda gross. met my friend’s friend who seemed like a really smart engineer (he asked for my number the next day lol), and a german dude at the bar who didn’t want to get me a drink. all i needed that night was a drink.....(i’m glad i didn’t drink tho because recently drinking has made me feel all kinds of bad)  we had ramen after at ramen-ya (most probably the worst ramen and charsiew i’ve had but what can we do at 3am and my friend wanted noodle and soup...)
on sunday i KNow i should have left my house earlier to workout but i didn’t. i was angry at myself that i didn’t. instead, i stayed at home and emotion-ate. i must have eaten more green bean soup than my stomach would have liked. what else...avocado? i remember..two bananas? god. this was the day i felt like i was n’s boyfriend because i had to do what she wanted to do. i know i had agreed on going, but at that point i really wanted to go thrifting or something. i mean when i got to central park it was fine and things were good but the whole day just felt like i was kinda pulled into doing something that wasn’t my first choice of plans, not that i didn’t enjoy myself lying under the sun at the park. it just felt like i was accompanying someone. i was half an hour late to meet her as well, and half heartedly got a burrito-wrap at newsbar. if you think about it it is really kinda funny, we’re just buying food and taking the subway to this grass patch 50 blocks away. we didn’t walk much, we literally only stayed at a little grassy slope overlooking the baseball pitch. anyway we went to a dance class after (the class was an hour long but i felt like n had asked me about when and what time we should book the classes for more than an hour by text so i just got really sick of it) i rushed home and got dinner with my uncle who’s in town for my cousin’s graduation. i was surprised that he chose the same japanese restaurant again, after dissing it half a year ago we ate here. the omakase was crazy and it cost 230 per person. (for the most expensive set) it was also kinda dumb because you aren’t allowed to order a different omakase set from anyone else - everyone on the table has to order the same - because of “timing”. i wonder if this is how it is in japanese omakase etiquette, but in any case it really earned them a hefty amount because my uncle decided to get 230 for all of us. qiyang didn’t like and said qiqi had bad taste, hahaha. the food wasn’t bad, i mean it’s japanese fusion, but the prices were way too steep for the taste. anyway enough about the food, during the dinner i think we talked about many things though. i kinda wanted to talk to my uncle individually because i think he is the only one who knows about ah gong, but he was sick, and i could tell he was exhausted. my aunt got a little impatient because i didn’t arrange plans to take their furniture and they were going to throw all of them away and it was actually the first time i’ve seen her get so worked up - but at the same time trying to control her emotions - because she was talking to me. i could tell she was annoyed though but i tried not to take it personally, and arranged it tomorrow.
arranging the moving stuff was kinda last minute, i was walking to the library for work one day and i saw a truck that said MakeSpace. i assumed it was a kind of moving company and so i looked them up. they seemed to be pretty okay in terms of their services and so i decided to try them out. confirmation and setting up an appointment went pretty smoothly, except for the part where the guy i think his name was joseph, asked me to give my credit card details over the phone. idk why i did that! i stopped though, and asked him why, to which he replied he wanted to key in with the coupon code. this service has so much gimmicks within the first 2-3 minutes on the phone he was already telling me about how the first pick up is free, and that he will deduct 100$ off the first month...when people give you discounts too easily it just feels like a ploy and a thing they give to everyone, it’s not anything special and it’s probably calculated inside whatever we have to pay. anyway, i was just thinking it would be cheaper (assuming the maximum that i would have to pay is ~$500, as i confirmed with them on the phone yesterday), it’d still be cheaper than starting an apartment lease now and going through the trouble of finding two subletters.
well. idk, it’s also easy to have things all moved in, i have to find a place to store my perishables!
moving is so much work, and storing things. this reminds me of my paper on airbnb and about the digital nomad lifestyle. it is interesting though, that this is what it has become. but the homogenized aesthetic is something i really cannot stand, in airbnb, in coffeeshops around the world..i am sure you know what i’m talking about. a new york times writer did something about this - he termed it “Airspace” - and apparently it originated from Brooklyn. I guess that’s where the art/avant-garde stuff started. well. keep a look out im gonna write a blogpost about that
moving on
nat came to sleepover on sunday night and a few days after because the school kicks you out of the dorms you pay so much for right after your final ends. i forgot if we did something fun but i probably just fell asleep.
on monday i think i went to f45 and did cardio at Dumbo with Gi. he seems like a pretty nice trainer, the first time i went it was him and another girl Bertha (i think my first f45 was last tuesday) and i felt like i had two personal trainers with me - Gi was cheering me on and Bertha was doing it with me. it felt like such a good workout, one of the best ive had in a while. then work, where i arranged the movers stuff. i also realized i bought the wrong date for my flight ticket as my friends and had to buy one more...............
tuesday was the same f45 in the morning, and the bobst after. didn’t really get much work done at bobst. oh i also viewed a 3BR flex at 160. hella expensive and small, and dates didn’t work out anyway. also the broker who brought us to view the apartment was a very nice tall french man and his name was jean-francois which i couldn’t pronounce and asked nat but still called him jean as in jeen instead of john. this is why i have to learn french. you’re embarrassing. i also went to the itp/ima spring show with shubham which was super cool. there were many cool ideas, and i just wonder if i could create something like that. i didn’t get to see all of the exhibits which i regret, but i remember a few notable projects. one was an installation made with keyboards that randomly clicks, but when you hold your phone up it’ll stop. it’s made using 3d gestures. there’s also one at a gallery for surveillance, this team had a thing they call facebox, and it’s literally a box, that when you open it has a webcam that would capture your face, find you on facebook, and print out an invoice/receipt on how much you have earned for this giant tech company.  what else...an AR project that when you scan a food,  it shows you where the food comes from. nat said that she would love it if menus have something they could scan and then have pictures appear in ~holographic~ format, or maybe in the nearer future something on your phone that shows you a picture of the picture of the food. but isn’t it a surprise tho? sometimes the fun’s in the surprise, you read the description, you know what are the foods you’ll eat, leaving room to imagine or be surprised by how the chef puts it together! anyway, went for dinner with nat and jenny - got vegan shwarma (definitely wasn’t worth $14) and went to get crepes with will after.
wednesday we were gonna go to the dmv but we weren’t prepared. nat also needed to get her passport and she was lazy. wow the number of times i mentioned her, it feels like she’s my boyfriend at this point. talked to famz, sister, and beatrix. am currently considering if i should even go to beijing or just go straight home. fuck. went to bobst for work but no one was there i was just really sleepy. viewed an apartment at 55 morton (it’s a nice quiet residential street that seems to be tucked away from the loud cars and bars and people) then i went to f45 again-varsity!!! cardio!!!, walked across brooklyn bridge (a little regret although i wanted to walk, but my bag was heavy and there were too many tourists to brisk walk)
also the reason for this is that after my soba/miso/salad/shrimp dinner last night i was just watching a bunch of netflix shows and it was probably the caffeine from puerto rican roasting company - the barista made me a chai cappuccino with almond milk (3 SHOTS!!!)
me and nat couldn’t sleep, i really think i slept for an hour. i watched so many different shows, yoko and john’s documentary, while we were young, anthony bourdain, i was seriously flipping through all the shows and alternating between amazonprme and youtube and netflix and i even tried watching peaceful cuisine and making the brightness lower and had the sleep mode on and wow i just couldn’t sleep
so yeah the birth of this word vomit
i am going to create more things

Business Sponsorships 0:15 Nearly 10 years ago, my family turned to Gigi for help with our fearful border collie, Lilly. Unlike other trainers who pretty much gave up on us, Gigi helped us teach Lilly the skills she needed for a happy life. We adopted a new border collie puppy, Clover, in September 2014. Just four days after her arrival home, Clover attended her first puppy class with Gigi. We’re thrilled to have Gigi as part of our puppy’s life. For us, it’s well worth the drive from Golden to take classes with Gigi each week. Jump up ^ McKinley, S.; R. J. This should be much less for younger puppies. Young puppies, under 12 weeks of age, have small bladders. However, crate trained puppies enjoy the safety and security they feel when in their crate as they will find it much like their den had they lived in the wild. In fact, many of our puppies in training have grown so accustomed to their crates that they will often go to their crates and sleep any time they are tired. Crate training is great for potty training as it’s your puppy’s natural instinct not to potty where he sleeps. For more information on crate training check out our page on crate training puppies. Instead, opt for a 10-minute block of supervised play in a bigger area before putting him back in the confined space. However, if your puppy does not eliminate outside, calmly place him back in his confinement area, wait 15 minutes and then try again outdoors. During stage 2 your puppy will begin to develop some self control – to learn to wait a few minutes before emptying himself when his bladder starts to feel full. I’m getting a pup soon, so I recently stocked up on books regarding training puppies. I read only part of this book. Before I got halfway reading it, I was very unhappy about the poor writing, which gets worse and worse as the book progresses. It is simply just one of the poorest written and edited books I’ve ever come across. Because the author and the editor for this book decided that poor writing can be overlooked, I wonder how many “non-facts” about training puppies slipped through simply because the author and editor did not care enough about the subject to be vigilant in its production.
