i just really love when characters are forced to wonder what their obvious deviance from what is considered standard humanity means in relation to their self-evident sentience, i.e. am i a person if i am no longer/never was a human, can "man" as in "mankind" transcend humanity if the being in question shows enough "higher thought", when is something a person
and while i would NEVER claim geralt as a monster, because he patently is not, i think the way he questions his humanity 100% falls into this type of thinking, and i love it, and i think about it, and i love chewing on it, and i love philosopher geralt trying to unwrap the puzzlebox of his own feelings and his own importance and his own autonomy and where he fits in the world
which is why i love slapping horns on him

chapter 32 finally here,,, im so late getting this ask in but this chap HAS been rolling around in my head,, getting chewed on ,,
we got SO much backstory in this one to work with and its SO cute too- like, not only does it work as such a good narrative contrast to the current relationship going on, what with eiichi and minako actually being able to have 1) respectful disagreements over taste 2) REAL playful banter that doesn't end up in some sort of argument or with horrifyingly thick tension 3) most importantly both people want to be there and see more of each other- its also just a very very sweet scene overall
AND it goes on to even show him properly standing up for her, supporting her career, sweet gift exchanges,,, n naoya is just cringing at the end of it. you FOOL. you should be taking NOTES rn
(also y/n met naoya first at the goodwill event,,, that has to have been mentioned before but i blanked on it till now. god. i hope we see that at some point i can only imagine)
y/n i think you SHOULD have just started crying in the store there after the story. just start sobbing. freak him out a little bit. he deserves it
naoya trying to ask genuine questions for once (at least i think he is!! just not,, really coming thru in the tone of voice but hes giving it a go) and just getting. almost entirely ignored. hes TRYING your honor- and what did he BUY?? what is in his pocket i know it cant be a whole record that would not FIT
this whole chapter and the last couple are SO funny bc y/n is (understandably) assuming he's being purposely malicious in ignoring/misunderstanding her and girlie,,, he's just that stupid actually. like he IS an asshole but also? very stupid. he is not getting the signals you are sending and when he does its like a funhouse mirror version his ass does NOT get it!!
"you like sweets?" "how do you know,,," "i figured after you ate a lot of cake at our wedding" "*oh my god,,, he's been watching me so closely,,, hes been stalking me*" GIRL,,, THIS IS THE MOST NORMAL BEHAVIOR HES DISPLAYED. the paranoia (again, understandably) is kicking our ASS rn okay this all makes sense actually rereading the next section like yes. it IS a nice fairly normal gesture of being attentive to what someone likes UNTIL its the last guy on earth you want being aware of you at all EXACTLY
the next few scenes REALLY make the contrast between their and y/n's parents relationship so dramatic bc like i was saying- the banter is just SO different because they do not actually trust each other here. that and its got a very different theme to it- the hiding it under the kimono comment would not have gone well with ANY woman i imagine. "meant it as nothing more than a joke, obviously" NOT OBVIOUSLY MY MAN
and of course,,, the final bit,,, handing the sweets over to naoaki instead,,,, i can not even IMAGINE how chp 33 is gonna start. hes just gonna straight up fall to his knees right there in anguish. pass out maybe. y/n and naoaki having a lighthearted little chat while naoya sobs and dies five feet away. i can't wait. incredible chapter once again
Hello!!
Aww, don't worry! If anything I should be apologizing for being a bit late to reply 😅 stuff happened, but I'm finally here hehe! And overall, I'm super happy this chapter was to your liking, since I love writing backstories... although I'm self conscious from time to time about it because it might be considered boring or irrelevant—and I get it, sometimes we just wanna know what's going on with the main plotline, but at the same time… I’ve been wanting to give certain characters more context. Especially Eiichi and Minako, who hold a special place in my heart. though I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again!! they’re PERFECT, OK?? They’re nothing but loving, caring, understanding and everything in between... and it's my favorite trope of all time!!! I eat that shit up every single time idc it never gets old for me!!!
Tumblr media
Ahem.... anyways lol.
The scene that heavily resonated with me of all that occurred in this chapter has to be how Eiichi and Minako were beyond excited to have children... because comparing it to Y/N and Naoya... it's very sad.
If Y/N were to get pregnant somehow, his reaction would certainly be negative. However, there’s a catch with this specific topic which I’ll develop a bit more in the future hehe. But yeah, she's definitely not living her parent's story, not even close.
And same. I’m really disappointed in Naoya’s reaction too, but what did we expect… it’s not like he’s going to suddenly understand the value of this information 😭😭😭😭 Our emotionless little trash bag could never... Ugh, I would be ashamed to even cringe if someone shared me something so intimate… he could’ve at least been a bit more discreet about it 😭 didn’t he get some kind of training in how to behave in these types of situations??? Like from the elders or something??? Since he’s the heir, you know… ??? Guess not.
As for the goodwill event, I’ve only sprinkled mentions here and there :> I think the first one was when Y/N told she saw Naoaki’s technique (same as Naoya’s) in said event, which was coincidentally Naoya’s first event lol. I only remember this cause I recently re-read the chapter where it happens 😂 I’m starting to forget some things… oof. Anyways, Worry not, this moment will be in the story 😊
Omg imagine if she started crying?? I think Naoya would somehow manage to make the situation even worse 😂. Kind of those awkward pats in the back, tell her “if I buy you something will you stop crying?” like she was a child or something lmao—and y/n would definitely be like “Are you serious????”
Overall, Naoya needs to try harder. Waaaay harder. But more than that… he needs to be accountable for the things he’s done—Y/N is not reacting positively to him because he’s just out there acting as if nothing happened! Or if he somehow acknowledged that it did, he still feels like he's blaming her for it, like it's her fault for overreacting to his abuse, and then blaming his brother over it!
Ughhhhhhhhhhhh Naoya needs to wake up, seriously!! I really don’t know what he needs to see or hear to finally understand he’s the problem 😭😭😭😭 And Ranta isn’t of much help either… but maybe he’s doing all that because he knows how he is hahah that he won’t react outside of essentially being compliant to him 😅 being Naoya’s “friend” must be a nightmare.
And with the whole Naoya being attentive to her is reminds me of this meme lol
Tumblr media
Just something I noticed while drafting, I tend to use the same phrases when writing their dialogue—it’s kind of sick, isn’t it? I’m tormenting Y/N all ways possible LMAO. (this is actually something I’m very self-conscious about… please forgive me 😭 Also damn I wish I had a FC for Naoaki... I mean I do but I want to reveal that on the character profile hehe)
But yeah, being reminded of that is like... you're already freezing, and someone decides to throw you another bucket of ice. You're like damn???? was that necessary?? She certainly didn't need to be told that he's keeping a closer watch. (Ah... if only the circumstances had been different, I would've been like... oh, how sweet of him) YIKES.
Now that we’re talking about the differences between their relationship towards Eiichi and Minako, it made me wonder how she would take that comment if it had been them instead.
I think Minako would be either like "what are you babbling about?" at first. HOWEVER, if she’s feeling kind of frisky and we know she be like that with him lol, I think she’d say something instead like “There’s something else I’d like under my kimono” and Eiichi would just, yeah. short circuit. 9 months later, Hinata came to be. HAHAHAHAHAH
It’s all in the context really, some couples are more comfortable with certain topics, others are not and the only way to establish that is through communication—unfortunately, even though Naoya and Y/N may be married, they’re not a couple by any means 😭😂. So yeah, that was waaaay out of pocket. I would’ve slapped him if I didn't have to fear for my life immediately afterwards 😭😅😂
As for the next chapter... if he passes out by seeing Naoaki and Y/N… good. It’s what he deserves 😊 Although something else is going to happen that I think will certainly rattle him—oh, whoops. Spoilers. 🤪🤪 (I’m really excited for you to read that chapter jkahgjkajgkaj)
Anyways, thank you so much for coming back for another update!! I know I always tell you this, but I don't think I can ever, ever write down how truly grateful I am to have your support... 🥺❤️ I'm always looking forward to your comments, hehe, they're very motivating, inspiring, sometimes fun to read... overall, I greatly enjoy them—they've certainly made writing this fic more fun ❤️❤️❤️
I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week, take care, and hope to see you soon!!!

A/N: Based of a post were I suggested that the team competes in various events during the downtime created by the lockdown. A full story was requested by someone. If you would like to claim it, let me know in the comments.
As you might expect, this is filled with ridiculousness.
***
“That’s it, you’re disqualified, G!” Sam declared as he yanked a throwing knife out of the wall, the handle still shaking from being recently hurled.
“Why am I disqualified?”
“You almost hit me in the head!”
“Well, maybe you shouldn’t have been standing so close to the target.” As they continued to bicker, Eric, Nell, Kensi, and Deeks sat down on the bleachers set up in the gym.
“I wonder how long this argument is going to take.” Nell said, sounding mildly disinterested. Over the course of the day, they had competed against each other in various events, including completing a hundred pushups, a 100 meter sprint, non-dominant hand shooting, and miniature basketball.
The day long competition was the result of them all having far too much idle time while most of the state was in some form of lockdown.
Sam, Kensi and Deeks had been neck and neck for the pushups. Nell had given up after 10 in favor of watching Deeks and Sam finish. In the end, Sam had beat Kensi by three. Kensi and Deeks had tied in the sprint, which had resulted in a mini argument over whether or not they could have two winners and Sam had easily won in the shooting event. Callen had won the mini-basketball round.
“Well, I’d say it depends on how quickly Sam figures out that Callen is messing with him,” Deeks said, settling in for a good half hour of debate.
“How do you guys wear this stuff all the time?” Eric asked, doing a weird half lunge thing as he frowned down at his under armor shorts. “I always feel like it’s squeezing me to death.”
“Well, it does have its perks,” Deeks commented, wiggling his eyebrows at Kensi as he glanced pointedly at her strappy black sports bra.
“Mm, yes it does,” Nell agreed, eyeing his chest appreciatively. Deeks looked down at his skin tight tank top and shrugged.
“Anyway,” Kensi said, rolling her eyes. “We should probably intervene or we’ll never get to the next event.”
“You just want to get your trophy,” Deeks teased her.
“Hey I won the knife throwing competition fair and square. No one else even came close.”
***
“C’mon Deeks!” Kensi shouted, clapping her hands as Deeks and Callen went up against each other on the climbing walls. “You can do this! Climb faster!” She’d already lost against Callen earlier and had taken sides. Nell had also joined Deeks’ side, but Eric seemed torn.
“G, don’t do this to me again!” Sam shouted over Kensi’s encouragement. Deeks thought he heard Callen mutter something sarcastic about not being a show monkey.
Deeks was about 2/3 of the way up with Callen several feet under him. He grabbed the next two handholds, propelling himself another two feet. To the sound of Nell and Kensi’s combined shouts, he climbed the last few feet and touched the top.
“Yes baby!” Kensi cheered as he dropped onto the mat below. Callen let himself fall too and said,
“Well, thank god that’s over.”
“Unbelievable,” Sam said, sounding deeply disappointed. “How could you let him win again?” Callen stood up, breathing heavily with his hands on his hips.
“Once again, he’s got longer arms and have you seen his muscles these days? His arms are like freaking trees,” Callen pointed out. “Besides, I beat you.”
“I have more weight to lift.” Before Callen could respond to that, Nell cut in.
“I believe it’s time for the three-legged race.”
“Ooh, I won the three-legged race every year at my summer camp,” Eric said excitedly. He extended his arm to Nell. “Shall we, M’Lady?”
***
“How are you this uncoordinated?” Kensi shouted at Deeks as they tumbled to the ground for the third time in a minute. Sam and Callen were only doing marginally better; if he’d been less focused on not falling, Deeks would have found the sight of them fumbling around hilarious.
“I don’t know, maybe because one of my legs is tied to yours?” he suggested sarcastically, groaning as he Kensi tried to stand up and ended up yanking at his bound leg.
“As the only married couple, we should be better at this.” Kensi sounded ready to kill him and he tried to sync his movements with hers.
Ahead of them, Nell and Eric were somehow managing to move at an impressive speed despite their vastly different heights.
Kensi growled as they fell yet again.
“This is a cruel, cruel sport,” Deeks sighed. In the time it took them to get back up, Eric and Nell crossed the finish line and immediately hugged, jumping up and down in excitement.
Deeks released the Velcro brace wrapped around his left leg, rubbing at the sore spot the rough material had left as they slowly walked across the field.
“Congratulations,” Kensi told Eric and Nell, managing a smile despite her disappointment.
“Thanks, but it was all Eric,” Nell said, giving him a proud look. “He’s a great leader.”
“Oh, I’m only as good as my partner,” Eric insisted, one arm wrapped around her waist.
“You two are disgusting,” Sam commented, trying to brush grass stains off his clothes.
***
“Nell, how often do you play mini golf?” Callen asked, sounding suspicious as Nell tapped her bright blue golf ball through a windmill and straight into a hole marked with a white 16.
“I may or may not have lived near a course when I was a kid,” Nell answered with a grin. She sank another ball with a single tap. “We played every weekend for a couple summers.”
“I should’ve known when you insisted we include it in the competition,” Kensi commented. She was a few strokes behind Nell and one in front of Deeks.
“Hey, I play to my strengths.” Nell shrugged, not seeming in any hurry to get to the next hole.
“At least the rest of us are doing better than Eric and Sam,” Deeks said, nodding to where Sam and Callen were struggling to get past a river that kept swallowing the ball and spitting it back out on the other side.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen Sam this angry,” Callen said, his voice filled with poorly concealed humor. As they watched, Sam shouted something and threw his club across the course where it landed in the middle of a small sandpit. “I better go calm him down before we get kicked out.”
“Maybe we should cancel this event. I mean, this is just supposed to be for fun,” Kensi said, watching Sam stalk away as Callen tried to talk to him. Eric was still futilely whacking at his ball.
“Not a chance,” Nell said fiercely, pausing to line her club up to the ball. She swung, the blue tennis skirt she’d chosen to wear swishing with her movement, and smiled in satisfaction as she got another hole in one. “I won this trophy and no one is taking it away from me.”
“Nothing like a game of mini golf to foster familial goodwill,” Deeks commented wryly.
***
Beep beep beep.
“Alright, pencils down,” Nell announced to the sound of frantic scratching. Deeks leaned back, having finished his 10th Scattegories list several seconds early.
Kensi swore under her breath and tossed her pencil down, glaring malevolently at him.
“Ok, starting with Eric, gifts/presents, terms of endearment, kinds of dances, things that are black, vehicles, tropical locations, college majors, dairy, products, things in a souvenir shop, and world records,” Nell said. “And they all must start with the letter L.”
By now her voice was hoarse and she sounded like a teacher who had spent all day corralling misbehaving students. It wasn’t far off.
“Alright, I have Lady Lark, locket, love, nothing, nothing, Land Rover, Latin, nothing, leg warmers, lip balm, and nothing,” Eric rattled off, looking a little stressed. He’d taken his jacket off half an hour ago, apparently overheated by the pressures of the game.
Nell sighed, crossing a couple things off her list.
“Ok, Callen?” He’d been toe to toe with Deeks for the last five rounds and seemed pretty confident. Clearing his throat dramatically, he started reading off his list.
“Lewis and Clark, lima beans, lima beans, lima beans-“
“Wait a second, you just said ‘lima beans’ three times in a row,” Sam interrupted.
“Lima beans would make a great present in my opinion,” Callen said, leaning back in his chair and twirling his pencil carelessly.
“Well, I don’t. Besides, you can’t use the same thing more than once.” Callen sighed and tossed his paper on the table.
“Then you’re probably not going to like the rest of this list.”
“You seriously wrote down lima beans 11 times?” Kensi asked and he shrugged again.
“At this point, I just want the game to be over,” he said, earning a disgusted sound from Sam.
Kensi, Nell, and Sam all read off their lists, scratching of a word here and there. Deeks had insisted that he go last for each round, to give them a better appreciation of his brilliance. No one had argued, but that might have been more for the sake of expediency than that they actually cared. When it was his turn, he noisily cleared his throat.
“Lincoln, as in Abraham, lingerie,” he paused to glance at Kensi who rolled her eyes. “Ladybird, lap dance, lemurs, Lamborghini, Laos, law, low fat yogurt, a license, and liquor,” Deeks said, dropping his board on the table with a smug expression. “Boom.”
“Damn,” Eric muttered. “Why didn’t I think of lap dancing?”
“Because you have an ounce of self-respect,” Kensi said a little meanly, which Deeks put down to her losing another round.
“Ok, so Deeks is officially the winner,” Nell announced, to no ones surprise.
He took a bow, dodging Kensi’s elbow.
***
“G, that’s not a word,” Sam sighed, gesturing for Callen to move the letter tiles he’d just laid down. The board was covered with a grid of words. Deeks had most recently added “erotic”, built off of Kensi’s “elbow”. Sam hadn’t liked Deeks’ word either, but didn’t have grounds to protest it.
“Yes, it is,” Callen insisted. “And now I’m out of tiles too and since that’s 7 with a triple word score, I win.”
“Um, I don’t think so,” Kensi argued, crossing her arms as she glared at him. She’d played extremely competitively, contesting almost as many words as Sam. “You used an already existing word, so you can’t use the ‘s’.”
“And it’s not a real word.”
“It’s in the Harry Potter books.” Callen lifted his hands like that was definite proof, leaning back with a grin. “So I’d say it’s a real word.”
“Actually “lumos” is adapted from the Latin word “lumen”, Deeks explained, “so it’s really a made up word and even if it wasn’t, foreign words aren’t allowed or I would have killed this game.”
“I’m not taking it off.”
“Let’s never do this again,” Nell said to Eric from where they were sitting off to the sides as Sam pulled out a giant dictionary.
“But we’re still getting trophies, right?” he asked worriedly. Nell snorted.
“Of course. I am the champion of mini golf after all.”
***
A/N: Just for fun little side note, I really dislike mini golf. One of the first times I played (I was a teenager), got so mad that I had a similar reaction to Sam’s. Ever since my family has been very cautious around me while playing the game.
And Callen with the lima beans is also based on a real-life anecdote.

CLEAR THE AIR
I was going to write on another topic but that particular issue can wait.
6th June,2013- I was chosen by AMEX(American Express) through SERCO BPO.
21ST June,2013- I Resigned or if it sounds pleasing I Ran Away. Yes as nobody knows clearly as to under what circumstances I did it.
Let me admit that honestly I was not happy or pleased during my shortest time in the job and anyways I was planning to quit. But during the days I was forced to be in AMEX I went through a lot of Mental trauma and also some physical trauma. All the Credit goes to the person who selected me-MR Nitin Agrawal whom I had to report to.
After I had left the job there were a lot of unwelcomed Criticisms and questions I had to face and maybe that particular question still people have “Why I Left such a well Known Brand or company??” So after a long silence of many years let me “CLEAR THE AIR”..I will explained what atrocities or unfair behavior I had to face.
1.Unfair Selection:
I was not willing to be selected as a Business Development Executive or lets say Salesman but I rather wished for a Desk Job but Mr Nitin Agrawal chose me as a Salesman. Many Will think it is a sign of Goodwill or good gesture but let me reveal a truth here. He(Nitin) did not really want me in his process as a salesman, he wanted me as a punching Bag so that he can ridicule me and insult me. The way he Interviewed me was very threatening and Demoralizing.
2. Challenging My Status(AUKAT):
Just on the first official day of working and I remember that I had come from Thane for company work only. I reached back to the office around 6 PM. The Great Mr Nitin makes me sit near him and questions me “Teri Aukaat kitne clients laane ki hai?”I need not translate this. Yes the word “Aukat” was used on me and that to in a Displeasing manner which set me back. Anyone around the globe knows this fact that a New Employee will take some time to get clients as it is not an easy job but Mr Nitin was in no mood for such practices. Anyways I fumbled and said “8″ to which he arrogantly approved and challenged me. The tone and attitude of his was not at all Motivating.
3.Rocket SIngh Theory:
Ever Since “Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year” movie starring Ranbir Kapoor, has released it has given rise to much autocratic type of working rather than Motivational system. Ok, coming to what I want to share is that On my orientation day which is when we are made familiar of our work and nature of Job, Mr Nitin secretly threatened me that in this process “Rocket Singh”style works which basically meant that all corrupt work will happen and if you are caught then it is fair for Mr Nitin to hold you up.
4. Sunday Not A FUN DAY :
Now at many places Saturday and Sunday are Off Days where someone can enjoy but in AMEX Process there is no such theory by Mr Nitin. Just because he does not like to sit at home at sundays so Mr Nitin feels none of his workers or employees deserve atleast even a Sunday Break. I was honestly not happy and this is where I decided I cannot continue with such a Boss and would have given my resignation but again time was not right hence I had to wait for a right time to resign. Yes This is something Unfair at any cost.
5. Usual Threats:
Since I made the promise to fulfill the target and I was not being able to even after continuous tries, I had to be Insulted. This was rule of Mr Nitin who was continuously threatening me for not completing my targets on given time. Well this is a threat every employee gets in such a screwed up working environment.
6.Climax and A Strange system:
It was 21st june,2013 and the day I finally made up my Mind to quit this Non Sense Job of a Salesman. I finally got a client whose office was in Masjid Bunder and he applied for AMEX’s New Scheme “Payback” Card and when I reached office, Mr Nitin who usually was threatening me, crossed his limits on that day. He tore my hardworking Application so there is no proof and he caught me by my collar which is physical trauma and it is illegal.
Second Part as mentioned Strange System was that AMEX decided on this way of attendance was that from Delhi a person in charge will call the employee thrice everyday to know the progress of the Deal and if the deal with client is closed fairly then the higher authorities will consider that employee has been present in office and if Employee fails to close a deal or even if he misses the call of person in Charge, he will loose out on the particular day in way of attendance. I feel this system was also thought by Mr Nitin Agrawal and Maybe he made this system to morally degrade me specially.
So these are the unfortunate events that transpired in those many days and these are all the atrocities I was forced to go through. Before someone points out that its common or “Everyone Goes through” it does not make a wrong working system correct. I am not against the process but I am definitely against people like Mr Nitin Agrawal who misuse such procedures and take over undue advantage of an employee’s weakness. Such People like Mr Nitin Agrawal must be Punished for morally degrading his own employees for no reasons. If today or in current times Mr Nitin Agrawal ever happens to meet me, then I shall show my so called Status(Aukat).
Finally whatever happened after that no self respecting person will like to stay in such a complex and unhappy work environment. No Matter how much everyone believes in Money, Power and Authority but none of these can take place of SELF RESPECT.
                                    THE END..
