#like durge disintegrates into orin

you cannot convince me that orin didn't take on her sibling's form and try to pass herself off as them immediately after their disappearance in order to try and learn more from gortash. if she could just be convincing enough maybe she could find out what they were really scheming...
and then orin experiences true disgust and horror for the first time in her life when gortash inevitably tries to proposition "durge"

Isn't it a bit odd that Gortash is the only one who had no idea where tf Durge disappeared off to? Between him having to be there during the raid to crown the brain with Durge and Ketheric, and Orin showing up right after all like "I'm the Chosen of Bhaal now :)" I find it hard to believe that he not only didn't realise something must've happened to Durge down there, but that he also did not investigate their disappearance at all? It literally takes like 10 minutes to go through the whole thing and Orin did not hide their "body" at all. And yeah "we promised to not meddle in each other's affairs" blah blah, but he spent A Lot of time in the colony after the raid playing with his pickled brain jars so is it really meddling if Durge was literally a 3 minute walk away, being opened and closed like a reusable Ikea ziplock bag over and over again?
So my headcanon is that he had no idea when exactly the attack happened because Orin took Durge's form right after the deed was done and kept the disguise on for as long as she could. By the time Gortash (running on 2h of sleep a day and sheer force of will, making sure everything Goes According To Plan) finally figured out what was going on, it's been too long to pinpoint the exact moment "Durge" began to act off and know where to look for their body at the very least. Plus it's not like he could put the entire scheme on pause just to go chasing ghosts, Durge would not want him to.
And I think it fucked him up a bit, that he took too long to notice and lost his chance at maybe preventing the entire thing from unraveling. I think that "we promised to not meddle in each other's affairs" is either a lie or him trying convince himself he couldn't have done anything anyways.
Now imagine a Durge that is not an idiot, that dug through every nook and cranny of Moonrise and the colony in search of answers and knows a lot more than Gortash assumes they do since they're supposed to be a full on amnesiac. A Durge that talked to the elderbrain, that read the prayer of forgiveness and recognised their own handwriting, and that learned from Balthazar's notes right next to it that this Enver Gortash they so admired spent considerable time there while they were being tortured endlessly just on the other side of the fleshy corridor.
Imagine that instead of "Orin betrayed me, and you did nothing to help me then." they would say something more along the lines of "You call me your nearest and dearest, your favourite, but I know you were right there when Baltahzar's necromancer played with me like a doll for weeks and did nothing to help me." and just watch this man disintegrate from the psychic damage in real time.

in the least confrontational way possible…what’s up with you shipping durge and orin? is it just another aspect of u liking fucked up dark dynamics in media? personally its not for me at all, but i’m curious why you like them together and how her dynamic is with ur durge
[CONTENT WARNING for mentions of inter generational incest and grooming below, nothing explicit.] Hm. You know, it's a little unfortunate that we have reduced every depiction of characters having a relationship that is at all romantic or sexual in nature (not even, really, I've only ever drawn them hugging LOL) as "shipping". I don't "like" them together in the way I like DU drow and Astarion together, for example, and they never really were together. I made up a story that I find interesting, because I find Orin interesting and wanted to explore her themes more, and liked the idea that hers and Durge's relationship wasn't always "bad".
I really enjoy writing for DU drow, I put a lot of effort into making his story feel fleshed out and suited for the in-game universe. It's a little disheartening that some people may harp on this without considering that there is a wider context beyond it just tickling me, somehow. These are two characters who've never even had sex, in which one of them (Orin) isn't even interested in romance or "mating", and the other one has no concept of healthy relationships, familial or otherwise and just desperately grasps at the one thing he feels a kinship to: to the eventual disintegration of the one relationship he had that approached anything to mutual understanding and relatability.
Theirs isn't a love story, it's a story about isolation and grooming that led to total dependency. If you've been told your whole life that everyone and everything is fated to die at your hand, that your kind is meant to be contained within a genetical crockpot, that debauchery is normalcy and everyone else is the enemy, it is no huge stretch that you would dump all expectations of companionship onto your one, supposed equal - friend, sister, mate, should-be-lover. And then, if you're a bad person on top of that, you won't take no for an answer.
Add to that that your grandfather (Sarevok) is apparently in total agreement and a practicant of the idea of inbreeding for weird purity purposes and you have yourself an environment where an obsession like such can be born - one that Orin wants nothing to do with, because unlike DU drow, she doesn't become distracted by matters of the heart - and hence we have conflict, and we have reason for resentment to brew over time. At some point in the past, they had a "good" (within the bhaalist concept) relationship, and there was nothing sexual or romantic about it. DU drow crushed that. And then he got a worm in his brain for it.
Is that shipping? 🤷 idk
If you go onto my blog's archive and look up the "orin the red" tag you can find more asks where I discuss them and their relationship.

bg3 multiplayer is very good
Just some of my favorite moments so far from the bg3 multiplayer game @icapturedthecastle and I have been playing:
Sarah constantly asking "what are you stealing???" when my Durge and Astarion are running around somewhere she can't see us and the activity feed says we succeeded on a sleight of hand check
Me making Sarah do every interaction with Gale because I cannot be trusted not to romance him
"Gale's kinda petty when he's drunk" "You shouldn't even be talking to Gale, you know better than that" "I WAS LEFT UNSUPERVISED"
Sarah making us reload like three times because Shadowheart kept rejecting her at the tiefling party - "how do I accidentally romance her EVERY TIME but when I'm trying to do it on purpose she turns me down???"
Giving every character either the magic violin or the Performer feat so they can be in a band with my Bard Durge - except for Sarah's character who she prefers to have bang on a drum with us like an "enthusiastic toddler"
We were having fun with Boo the hamster and throwing him around our Elfsong hotel room, but then Sarah threw a health potion at him to heal him and every single companion went hostile because they thought we were attacking him
Yelling at Gale for being too handsome with the bun mod we both went out of our way to download
"I'm sorry Gale. I just... can't be around you when you look like this, I'll catch you on the next playthrough" "Every time you walk past him it's just that one song by Rascal Flatts playing"
I'm in the temple talking to Orin as Durge for the first time and Sarah just goes "oh by the way this is a duel. Sorry, I should have told you that. Before the duel was starting."
My cat turning off my computer by stepping on the power button right after the Orin duel before I'd been able to quicksave
During the second attempt at the duel, managed to do 75 damage to her with one Disintegrate scroll and felt super badass, then Sarah accidentally attacked one of the priests and turned everyone aggro at all of us
(Third attempt at the duel went fine and took like three turns)
In the underwater prison we both forgot to have our characters go up the ladder which led to this hilarious screenshot
Tumblr media
Racing after every long rest to see if I can put my Lesser Restoration amulet on and heal my Bloodless condition faster than she can get Paladin!Karlach over to my character to do it
Heckling Gortash after casting Otto's Irresistible Dance on him
Sarah hoarding explosive barrels in huge OSHA-violating stacks
Tumblr media
"Um, this Steel Watcher is definitely about to blow up right next to all your barrels" "NOOOO, MY BARRELS"
The barrel hoarding majorly paying off in the House of Hope
Me blearily using a fire spell on some enemies in the House of Hope and Sarah going "fire damage? really? we're in hell"
(after Sarah learned I just didn't even try to solve the Act 3 murders in my first playthrough) "So now we go talk to this lady and she pays us a bunch of money. That's why we help people." "That's why we... do quests? Got it"
Breaking into Dammon's house to find his smutty literature

Wait so what happens with ketheric’s dismembered body parts?? Do they just sit there while he regenerates a new one or do they disintegrate like Orin when she died
Using deadpool regeneration as a frame of reference, and based on the short cutscene of Ketheric in moonrise tower with the goblins, I think his dismembered limbs just...stay there.
But unlike deadpool, his generation is immediate and doesn't require his own energy since it's powered by the divinity of Selune through Dame Aylin.
I thought about making them immediately reattach you know? Just heal around the wound before it can be completely cut off. So you can theoretically make him heal around a knife or any object inside him, in a constant cycle of tear and repair.
If it's like an ear or a toe, any "bitteable" body part, then it would snap right off. Another regrows but since it is divinity magic based and not biology based regrowth, it would probably look somehow cooler than deadpool regrowth scenes.
The true question is what happens if you cut his head clean off with a guillotine? Would the head regenerate or the body? What if you split the head clear in half? Which half would regenerate?
And what if the body is the one to regrow the head instead? Would his memories be wiped, or would a perfect replica of his brains and all of its neurons get rebuilt?
I'm starting to think it's less of regrowth and more of a time stasis thing like Selune's power keeps his body in a still slot of time and nothing in the future can permanently effect it since it will always revert to its original state. That's why nothing regrows but gets rewinded instead.
In that case his spare body parts would just poof and disappear. There goes my plans of making Orin use his dismember penis as a strap on for Durge :(
The conclusion is that I shouldn't be allowed near Ketheric or Cazador because they'd need to invent new laws and crimes to describe the experiments I plan on conducting.
Are you telling me that really nothing can kills him? Really? What if I throw him in a volcano? What if I give him a million forms of cancers? What if I induce flesh eating bacteria into his morning tea? What if I send him into space? What if I throw him in a blackhole?
If he can survive the vacuum of the abyss then Ketheric really is wasting his calling. Forget Baldur's Gate my dude Nasa needs you urgently there are a million empty planets to rule over instead.
