Hello! I hope you like this one! I went AU for this ask and wrote up a quick Pacific Rim drabble with Pilot!Reader and Hangman! Here is Kiss #41 Because the World is Saved. All of the Jaeger names are thanks to @thedroneranger and @mayhemmanaged brainstorming and help!

A Kiss After Saving the World

It hasn't been very long at all since monsters began terrorizing the world. But they're not anything like what all of the old science fiction novels said they'd be like. For one, they didn't come to us from space. They emerged from a colossal portal at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean called the breach. The monsters, called Kaiju, attacked coastal cities while causing unprecedented damage. No conventional weapons or technologies could touch them. In the decade since the first Kaiju attacks, things have changed drastically.

Never has the world been more united. The only line of defense between the coastal cities of the world and the Kaiju were colossal piloted robots called the Jaeger. Each robot was operated by two pilots, attached via neural link, each responsible for a side of the robot. By linking the pilots, you could ensure seamless communication between them and the two could work as one to drive the Kaiju back. It worked - for a while. Then bigger and more dangerous Kaiju started to ascend from the Breach and more and more Jaegers started to fall in their wake. That's when the world began building the sea walls to protect humanity while decommissioning the Jaegers. The walls didn’t really work, but there’s nothing the Pan Pacific Defense Corps could do. There's only one Jaeger facility operating in the world now, the Hong Kong Shatterdome.

There are only four Jaegers in the colossal hangar and enough crew and operations personnel to ensure they’ll be piloted properly. There is also only one chance to shut down the breach for good. It’ll take a targeted nuclear warhead to the center of the breach. You’re the newest pilot in the Shatterdome and the only pilot compatible with Lieutenant Commander Jake Seresin, callsign Hangman, formerly of the United States Navy, currently of the Pan Pacific Defence Corps. He’s an interesting man, Commander Seresin, taciturn and cocky by turn even as he maintains that you will never be good enough to pilot this mission.

You’ve had three Kaiju battles since you took up the vacant pilot seat on the Gypsy Starfall and Jake still believes you’re not going to be good enough. You’re starting to believe it yourself. Every time you drift with him, you see his prior drift partner, Lieutenant Commander Javy Machado, the man who was once known as Coyote. Hangman and Coyote piloted the Gypsy Starfall for over four years, fighting back dozens of Category Three and Four Kaiju successfully, but Jake refuses to let you in. Your drifts with him bridge the gap between shallow and deep by a thread every time, one stray thought away from dissolving into chaos. Through sheer force of will, Jake’s managed to keep you from plummeting into that chaos.

You’re in the final briefing before the nuclear run at the Breach when the sirens blare.

“It’s a Category Five Kaiju, codename Slattern. All Pilots to their Jaegers. This is an all hands on deck situation.” Colonel Kazansky sounds as serious as you’ve ever heard him.

Within minutes you’re suited up and in Gypsy Starfall’s cockpit. Across the way you can see Payback and Fanboy loading up into Banshee Dagger and Phoenix and Bob sinking into Stryker Mayhem. You know that Rooster and Maverick are in Eagle Tirade to your right as well.

“Peony, do you read me?” Jake’s voice always makes you feel like you belong in a Jaeger when you hear him in the drift.

“Hangman, loud and clear.” Even your brainwaves sound nervous.

The four Jaegers move in unison, progressing in a straight line towards the breach. There’s a wicked storm brewing over the expanse and right as the Gypsy Starfall crosses the final defenses of the Hong Kong Sea Wall, you see the colossal head of Slattern peek out of the rift. It’s the biggest Kaiju you’ve ever seen and it’s not alone. It’s being guarded by two Category Threes, Otachi and Leatherback. It’s Otachi that you and Jake had beat back most recently and the Kaiju obviously holds a grudge because it’s rushing you as soon as it sees you. Thank god for your newly updated energy blade and the cover from Eagle Tirade’s guns. It’s through sheer luck that you spear Otachi through the heart. But Otachi’s death, and Leatherback’s death soon afterward drive Slattern into a driving rage. The colossal creature rushes towards the wall and soon all you can hear are Jake’s thoughts as the two of you fight with all your breath to beat the brute back.

You can’t let him decimate the Hong Kong Shatterdome and Hong Kong City. Jake’s entire family is there. He (You) can’t afford to bury any more people he (you) love. It’s with a roar of pure desperation that you both activate the one mayday weapon onboard Gypsy Starfall other than the nuclear warhead housed in her chest, a sonic cannon. The battering soundwaves drive Slattern back inch by excruciating inch until the brute’s teetering on the edge of the rift.

“We have to push him in, Jake!” You’re screaming down the drift link between you.

“Yeah, sweetheart, I know. But how?” He sounds exhausted, far more like an old man than a 30 year old.

“We’re the only thing heavy enough, Jake! One push and he takes us and the warhead with him. I’ll eject you and take on Star’s full neural load. Once we’re through the rift, I’ll blow the warhead.” You can feel the arguments against your plan even before they fly through the drift to you.

“I don’t have anybody in Hong Kong waiting for me.” A tear drips down your cheek at the thought of leaving your friends, leaving Jake, behind.

“You have me waiting for you, sweetheart. So we’ll do this instead. We’ll both push Slattern into the rift. Then we’ll both eject, okay?” But you don’t even have the chance to respond as you see another colossal Cat 5 Kaiju begin to approach through the Breach. You and Jake gun the engines on Gypsy Starfall and shove Slattern and his friends back to the hell they came from. That’s the last thing you remember.

You wake up to the sound of waves lapping against your ejection pod. The Pacific Ocean is roiling around you as waves higher than your head bat the pod around like it’s a toy. Jake! Where is he? It’s far too long before the waves subside and you finally see his pod floating a ways away.

“Jake?” Your voice is a hoarse scream as you grab a bit of driftwood and begin to row towards his pod. When you open the pod he’s just come to.

“Jake!” You’re crying again.

“Peony! You’re alive!” He kisses you then, soft and sweet. You can’t help how you sob in his arms when you pull away.

“We did it, sweetheart. We saved the world.” That’s where you stay until the helicopters come find you, tethered to the one man who you know better than you know yourself. Your soulmate and if you dare say it, the love of your life. Nothing can bring the two of you down. Not even a Kaiju.

Quan Chi:: human trafficker, works in business with Shang. Single dad (did he sell off his wife🤔), father of Ashrah and Sareena, he didn't raise them, he sent them to foster care.

Raiden:: a Sun Do University student. Helps out at Syzoth's pet shop.

Rain:: JC's neighbour. Lilly's half-brother (they have parents in a polyamory relationship, one mom, two fathers). He works at the bigger hospital in the city.

Reiko:: Hockey player. Was adopted by Shao before he was ten years old. And is traveling when having a match in other countries.

Reptile:: pet shop owner, has a big selection of reptiles.

Sareena:: Ashrah's little sister. Quan Chi's daughter. A freelance fashion designer for Nitara.

Scorpion:: second bouncer at Madam Bo's. He's the only brother who knows of Diya's workplace and is backing her up when necessarily. Does self defence classes with Bi-han on the weekends though.

Shao:: used to be a weight-lifter. Now is a welder at Baraka's shop.

Shang Tsung:: pharmacist. Drug dealer

Shujinko:: Madam Bo's ex-lover. Works as a doctor.

Sindel:: a principal of Sun Do University.

Smoke:: works at Kenshi's tattoo shop. Anime geek and gamer. Yearly goes to comic cons for sure!

Stryker:: works at Kano's gun shop.

Sub-zero:: ice-cream shop owner. Also does self defence classes 3 times a week when his schedule allows it.

Tanya:: works as an engineer for Baraka. Met her girlfriend there UwU

We are the crew of The Argonaut. A magnificent space vessel from your distant future. Our crew consists of Admiral Archmage (guitars, vocals) Commander Blade Stryker (guitar, vocals) Captain Zeke Nebula (bass) Lt. Quaid Stone (vocals), and our trusty Cyborg C.R.O.M.(drums). We battle for the very existence of the cosmos itself!

We assembled in the not too distant future to assist the Council Of The Infinite in its quest to maintain order and balance throughout the cosmos. USA BASEBALL ONE-SHOT RPF 2: Mike's Boys (chapter 1)

(AN: Dedicated to manager Mike Bianco and his boys of the 2022 USA Baseball CNT who won the hearts of the nation in their journey in last July's Haarlem Baseball Week in the Netherlands. They together with those who took part in the team trials are featured in this one shot. It is also in honor of the 1st anniversary of Team USA's Olympics silver campaign in Japan, the 31st Ukrainian Independence Day and Mark DeRosa's appointment as USA Baseball skipper for the World Baseball Classic as well as the recent staff announcements for Team USA. It will be a preview of the many other faces featured in this series from within the MLB and the other USA and Canadian leagues. Also, I'm using townships as American English equivalent for the hromadas or municipal goverments under Ukrainian districts since they were in existence since 2020.)

Given that the 78th Infantry Brigade Combat Team has excelled themselves in helping the Ukrainian counteroffensive that has relieved the ongoing near siege of the city from the north since February 24 by Russia after having helped relieve Chernihiv early in the month, COL Mike Bianco, now a part of the brigade as staff officer on secondment from his military regiment of students from Ole Miss who are part of its brigade and soon considered to be promoted a brigadier general, is already resting after the brigade was moved back from the frontlines after a few weeks of fighting with the 12th Infantry Battalion (Separate) of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, as well as the UGF's 93rd and 72nd Mechanized Infantry Brigades and the National Guard's 12th and 5th Operational Brigades in their AOR. As one of the advisors to the brigade commander, his efforts have helped the brigade contribute in the ongoing battles to liberate towns and rural communities north and northeast of that city, wherein American Humvees, Strykers, M2 and M3 Bradleys and M113s as well as Abrams and M60 Patton tanks fired on Russians armed with BMPs, BTRs, GAZ Tigers and variants of the T-72 and T-80. Use of the M142 HIMARS and M270s by the rocket artillery battalion and M777s and M109s by the field artillery have shocked the Russians so much, the brigade's Ukrainian advisor who reports to the commander of the Territorial Defense Forces, who also serves as interpreter for the commander, BG Hopkins, has said of their effectiveness and that the Ukrainians have been facinated by the use of these systems hoping that the UGF will soon purchase these systems for use soon.

The brigade's component units abroad have set camp and are building a new FOB the other day near Merefa township in Kharkiv District, preparing for a move to the Donbass to help UGF formations and the National Guard fight the invader in weeks after final operations in Kharkiv's north. The colonel is today walking on the encamped formations of the brigade and the works on the permanent FOB as the old temporary one had been yesterday handed over to the Ukrainians and is already approaching where the 1st Battalion, led by LTC Fenster, has stationed with the rest of the brigade after such days of combat ops with their Ukrainian counterparts. The battalion CO saluted him as he recognized the colonel, as well as A Company commander CPT Frazier and his XO CPT Tulowitzki. He was greeting them both that morning, asking them, "Where are my boys?"

The captain responded, "Right there near their camp, near the 1st Platoon."

At a sudden, the 6th platoon commander, 1LT Payton, recognized the commander of what was supposed to be the 2022 collegiate and ROTC mobilization unit of the 78th Brigade. But now given the war in Ukraine, it became part of A Company of the 1st Battalion as its 6th platoon out of 8 overall in the company.

"ASSEMBLE!" cries the lieutenant. The platoon steps into formation. It presents arms as COL Bianco arrives to where they are.

Greeting the colonel, it orders arms, and the lieutenant informs him that the platoon is all present and accounted for. Despite these days of tough battles, none of the Americans died, only little injuries among the young men. Thanks to that new Starlink system, finally these boys can continue studying for their collegiate degrees using their laptops and talk and write emails to their families while fighting in the frontlines in the Ukrainian northeast, their platoon commander has stated to the colonel.

"At ease, gentlemen," the colonel says.

He begins to talk to them regarding the hardships that took them to where they are now. Within the frontlines of a war between two nations, in the Ukrainian stepps and wide plain and hills away from their families, fighting against Russians and their allies in occuiped Donetsk and Luhansk which for years have organized armed forces to support the pro-Russian governments of their regions, they have been doing that since late March when the whole brigade was called into battle in Irpin town, and then in Chernihiv. Elements of the 1st Battalion were committed into these battles with the rest of the brigade, with the fuel and ammo being shipped from Poland to help them directly as well as several elements of the young International Legion of Territorial Defense. Following the Irpin liberation, the brigade was among the first to assist newly-liberated Bucha and was witness to the retreval of the first bodies of Ukrainian civilian dead of the Russian military massacres of opponents of Russia's invasion, a huge war crime that defined the evil ways of many service personnel of the Russian Ground Forces, either as officers, warrant officers, and professional and conscripted NCOs and enlisted personnel and blew open the truth of their atrocities before the world. Then they left to join the Ukrainian forces relieving the Siege of Chernihiv. Now they have been committed in pushing back Russians from Kharkiv Oblast and the districts comprising Kharkiv City and those north and northeast of it with 2 UGF and 2 National Guard brigades, as well as 2 territorial brigades. Amazingly, even at the cost of Ukrainian lives, no American has been killed so far in the ranks of the 1st Battalion in Kharkiv while there were fatalities there and in Chernihiv in the ranks of the armored cavalry squadron and the other battalions. Despite the young age of the lads and the fact that they have been fighting for almost 4 months they survived AND they still carried on their college studies remotely, with their universities slowly noticing that these brave collegiate boys are now fighting not just for Ukraine, nor for the American people, but for global democracy.

The 78th Brigade, the 1st American reserve brigade to be deployed fighting against Russia in this war, had been the first to help the determined Ukranians in the weeks after the invasion, and soon other brigades would land into Eastern Europe to assist the fighting boys and girls from Cary in their struggle in support of their Ukrainian brothers and sisters, not just from the 46th Command but from other mobilized formations of the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard.

The days of battles in Ukraine cemented Colonel Bianco's boys into a tough, determined bunch of men with the rest of their company. None was more determined to lead them into the battlefield than 1LT Payton the platoon commander, getting orders from both company and battalion leaders, who are right there where they are encamped after being withdrawn from the Kharkiv front.

He told the colonel, "Sir, after almost three weeks in Kharkiv, these boys that you have trained in Cary and in Durham, and together with the regulars of the Army, including the Green Berets, have become young battle hardened men who fought with tenacity, bravery and firm determination for the nation. Every damn day, these boys and I their platoon commander have helped Able Company and the whole of the 1st Battalion fulfill their objectives in the defense of Ukraine on behalf of the American people and their armed forces as well as our NATO partners. Those damn Russians think that by fighting Ukraine they may be getting ready for the real charge of their forces against NATO, the European Union, and above all else, my country whose flag I swore to serve faithfully in the army. Now we've shown them that they are fighting against a people determined to keep their freedom and democracy alive - with all our support! Thanks for training us to be a battle hardened platoon fighting for our freedom no matter what, sir."

The colonel had thanked him in response to these remarks, knowing that all the hard work and training had finally paid off, now that they and the rest of A Company has had distinguished themselves in the Kharkiv front of the war with the rest of their battalion. He was indeed glad that his boys are still alive and in one piece, carrying all the weapons and gear they had from home into battle against Russia. All of them are equipped properly even with ear plugs for those in the artillery battalions and better personal equipment for all in the brigade.

"We still remember those days," 1LT Bradfield, the platoon second in command, said, "that we've almost died if not for the actions of the rest of the brigade and our Ukrainian brothers. Those Russians, sir, they were determined to kill us just because our government is helping Ukraine, but we proved them wrong." Such were those days that the platoon and almost all of A Company was almost in certain death when it and the whole of the 1st battalion were fighting companies of Russian infantrymen and tankers from battalion combat groups whereever they fought. In Kharkiv, this meant that days after being regrouped there they faced a reduced force from the legendary 4th Guards Tank and 2nd Guards Motor Rifle Divisions of the Russian Ground Forces's 1st Guards Tank Army, the seniormost armored and mechanized divisions, respectively of the Western Military District and the most prestigeous of the country's divisions with lineage dating to the Second World War. These two elite divisions, together with the then newly reactivated 47th Guards Tank Division, were the most feared of the 1st GTA when they advanced into Kharkiv with the rest of the formation, but the Ukrainians stopped them in their tracks for the first three months of the war and are being pushed out of Kharkiv Oblast, the city, despite heavy Russian artillery and missile strikes, being saved from direct military action at a cost of thousands of lives lost among the Ukrainians and the few among the Americans of the 78th Brigade that arrived there joined by the 3rd NY of the 901st Division's 1st IBCT led by COL Boone and some other elements of the other major mobilization brigades - the 84th and 37th Brigade Combat Teams of the 169th and 892nd commands. The 3rd NY, together with the 62nd New York Metropolitan Light Infantry, led by COL Barnes on behalf of the regimental colonel, now BG Showalter, were the first two 169th Corps regiments deployed to Ukraine during the war and both had amazing records of personel sent to wars of the past and the present first to US Army regular formations and then the 78th Brigade. Now that after years of deploying their personnel as part of US Army regular units, the 46th, 169th and 892nd commands were the first active reservists to fight in Ukraine, mainly to support the fellow Americans in the International Legion of Territorial Defense - and to fight alongside the men and women of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Now that the war had been already in its third month, there was no doubt that the Ukrainians have been noticing the brave Americans from Cary fighting for them. The platoon's second in command indeed stated that what they and the 1st Battalion did ensured the Russian offensive in Kharkiv to be a total disaster for them and a great win for Ukrainians, and have saved the brigade from certain defeat. But now, they are facing both the 200th and 80th Motor Rifle Brigades from the Russian 14th Army Corps from the Northern Fleet Coastal Defense, as well as elements of the 6th Army's 138th Brigade as the other infantry brigade, the 25th, had been recalled back to Russia for refitting. The two Northern Fleet infantry brigades had been activated in the past decade as the country's premier units in the Arctic but now had been fighting in northeastern Ukraine together with two regiments of infantry each from the 1st and 2nd Army Corps under the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Militias, respectively, and the 68th Marine Brigade of the Northern Fleet. The two Army Corps, which form part of the Russian forces of the Southern Military District, report to the governments of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics and their respective defense ministries, while being under overall Russian command from Moscow and under the operational control of the Minstry of Defense led by General of the Army Shoigu.

"So you still remember those days you and the WHOLE 6th Platoon saved Able Company?" asked Captain Frazier.

"Yes, sir", replied 1LT Bradfield. "We saved the company and all of our battalion. The memories of having these men saving Able are still fresh, having to hit those T-80s and T-72s with Javellins and grenades, as well as those BMPs and armored carriers. And all those Russians."

"Indeed, Colonel Bianco, these boys saved all of us in the company from death. They risked all to save the brigade and our Ukrainian partners from being slaughtered by these Ruskies", Captain Frazier said. And he still remembers that one day that they faced Russians from the 14th Corps to the north of Kharkiv with the whole of the company. Just as they talked, Major General Scioscia arrived with the rest of the 1st platoon, including many of the "Tokyo Boys" from last year's national contingent that deployed in Japan. He was joined that day by BG Mark deRosa and MG Tony Reagins, part of the command staff (the recently promoted brigadier general part of the brigade staff being groomed to be the executive officer). The major general was part of then COL Scioscia’s command as commandant of the 61st Los Angeles in the late 2000s and was assigned as part of the Anaheim city garrison. He asked the company commander, "Are you serious they saved the brigade, and my boys too as well?" "Yes", Captain Frazier said. "They saved you and the 1st platoon, many times. Most of all they saved my life and that of my fellow officers. Despite their young age, they showed their prowess in battle, and showed how powerful our forces are." 1LT Payton said, "Damn right we are, and we always still have these memories of fighting against these Russians." 1LT Austin said to him "That's a sure fact, and indeed we are grateful to you guys."

SOMEWHERE NORTHEAST OF KHARKIV CITY

SUNDAY, APRIL 17, 2022

1015H EEST

That day elements of the 78th Brigade were assigned to help the 113rd Territorial Defense Infantry Brigade of the TDF, with attached International Legion elements, to liberate the village of Cherkas'ki Tyshky in Tsyrkuny Township, Kharkiv District, after the township center had been liberated days ago with their help. The infantry and the armored battalions as well as the field artillery battalion equipped with the M777 towed gun as well as a MANPADS battery from one of the air defense battalions were all stationed there and the brigade had just set up its new barracks and FOB south of Derhachi town northwest of the city for easy access to the frontlines to the north and to the city itself as well as to avoid Russian artillery shelling. The rest of the brigade is in Korotych to the west awaiting for their move to the new location.

A and B Companies of the 1st Battalion have been the vanguard of the US contribution there for weeks after being relocated from Chernihiv following the successful lifting of the siege there early in the month in which the brigade took part. Now the General Staff of the Armed Forces has noticed that there ARE indeed Americans fighting for Ukraine outside of the International Legion, for the bravery of the 78th has awakened Americans to the truth that this war would soon evolve into a global one or another Cold War, either way would change the world just as the first Cold War was. C Company, the women's contingent, is now being prepped to move as the last of the 1st Battalion to relocate to Derhachi as the remainder of the brigade would be moved there once an expanded camp is finished thanks to the work of the combat enginers within the unit. Thus the ones on the field now are, together with the battalion HQ company, are A, B, D, E and F Companies, the heavy weapons company and the battalion cannon company affilated with the brigade field artillery battalions.

Joining them in that part of the city's metro area were the 1st Battalion of the 83rd Philadelphia under LTC Thompson and the 1st battalion of the 71st Atlanta led by LTC Seitzer it's commanding officer, which are the reserve formations in this operation and are stationed a few miles away from Tsyrkuny proper. A Company of the 83rd under 1LT Hoskins is with elements of the 1st Battalion. That morning the 1st and 2nd Battalions together with the armor, field and air defense artillery elements, as well as service support elements of the brigade have been on the move together with elements of the 113rd Territorial Defense Brigade of the Territorial Defense to fulfill their objectives north of Kharkiv and to regain parts of its expanded metropolitan area. That morning, in the midst of the hot late spring weather, they are leaving the newly liberated shire town and hromada seat of Tsyrkuny which has been their home for days after assisting in the liberation of that town and are heading westwards on Cooperative Street after leaving the main street of the town towards their objectives of liberating much of the northern half of the township, including Cherkas'ki Tyshky village. Intel states that it is the 200th Brigade, nearest to the city itself, and a battalion of DPR militias are holding on to the northern part of that township after Tsyrkuny had been liberated and the Russian infantrymen, tankers and gunners pushed back north. One or two of the battalions of the 200th are already there in the northwest of the shire town, having retreated following the battle days ago together with the field artillery and tank elements. Most are moving away north, fearful of the advancing Ukrainians chasing them away and setting up new positions. The Bradleys together with 2 companies of M60 Super Pattons and a troop of M3 Bradleys provide the armored escort for the 113rd's battalion battle group and the M777 field guns have been placed south of the township's shire town to provide indirect fire support, with some of the air defense systems on Humvee chassis assigned to the advancing battalion formation.

At the lead M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles, 2 of them, plus one M113, are the company command and the Ukrainian interpreter of the company always joining them in the first M2, which has the company commander CPT Frazier and his deputies, with the second carrying among others the company lead medic and his XO Captain Troy Tulowitzki. The modernized M113A3 has 1SGT Gose, company first sergeant, on board. Following them are the Bradley IFVs and M1064A3 Mortar Carriers of the platoons. Joining them are Humvee and M113 combat armored ambulances and some others including ammo and signals vehicles assigned to the company behind the infantry as well as 2 MT-LBs assigned to the company HQ and painted in US Army camo, mounted with the M60 machine gun as well as one M4 Bradley FIST for forward artillery observers at the rear of the column. The MT-LBs hold members of the HQ platoon and part of the signals section. One more M4 Bradley FIST is manned by the 113rd's artillery observers and carries the Ukrainian national arms. Following them are elements of A Company of the 1st battalions of the 83rd and 71st led respectively by 1st Lieutenants Hoskins and Duvall on their Bradleys with the rest of the battalions' companies in the main highway with some of the 113rd's personnel together with battalion staff.

Having crossed the road bridge spanning the Kharkiv River, they arrived at 0910H at the western edges Tyshky, setting up their field HQ for the operation at an open field north of the intersection of Skillnyi and Kalnova Streets with another road leading to a local hotel. The 1st battalion began to mass its forces in coordination with the elements of the 113th Brigade thru the battalion's main Ukrainian Ground Forces liason officer who asks as the interpreter for the battalion and in charge of his fellow Ukrainian personnel assigned to the companies and the battalion HQ doing the same role. The section chief coordinates with the 113th's command for any action the brigade would be doing so that the 78th would be properly informed of what they are to do. Today the brigade is doing battalion level ops with two of the battalions working to fulfill their objectives, and the 78th BCT's 1st and 2nd Battalions has been assigned once more to help them. The main elements of the battalion are assembled there while west of their location are elements of the HQ company with the cannon company stationed east, with guns unlimbered from the M35 carrier trucks and the Avenger air defense systems also located to give much needed air defense power against any Russian Air Force fighter jets, transports and helicopters.

LTC Fenster, battalion commander, is stationed at the intersection with Captains Frazier and Arrietta of A and B Companies together with his battalion staff and their Ukrainian liasons working with the 113th. The D and E company commanders, Captains Ober and Zimmerman, are also there. Joining them are his executive officer, MAJ Sogard, and the company executive officers, CPT Tulowitzki, 1LT Fowler, 1LT Swaggery and 1LT Naquin and and the first sergeants from the companies of the 1st Battalion sans C Company, as well as from F Company, its commander 1LT Cupp and XO 1LT Mitchell, all being OCS alumni despite their young age. The heavy weapons company commander and XO are there as well while the commander and staff of the cannon company is with the towed M101 field guns and communicates with them via radio and mobile phones. They are being briefed on the final readiness of their units and any Russian positions they would encounter together with the Ukrainian counterparts, as well as on what the American strategy would be for that operation in this suburban town. Together with them are Captains Duvall and Hoskins from their respective regiments as well as their company XOs, 1LTs Nola and Riley. However they recieved word that the 1st Battalion 3rd NY has also arrived in Tsyrkuny and will deploy their forces on the main road while A and B Companies are already on the move to the west to join them led by Captain Aaron Judge of the former. The battalion command, led by LTC Rojas, has been stationed at the township seat as well to monitor the situation at the frontlines. The battalion had been fighting the Russians in Kharkiv's north east for days now as well.

The plan called for the 1st Battalion 78th BCT to help the 113rd engage its targets in the village of Cherkas'ki Tyshky and its northern neighbouring village of Rus'ki Tyshky with the 3 companies from the 71st Atlanta, 83rd Philadelphia and 3rd NY while the 2nd battalion would operate on the main road of the township with the remainder of the 3 respective battalions while the brigade field and air defense artillery is stationed in the township seat save for the mobile Avenger SAM systens mounted in Humvees. Their mission is to remove any Russians from the two villages in the township from the 200th Brigade in conjunction with their Ukrainian counterparts.

Then the LTC recieved a call from brigade command stationed in the township seat. They are monitoring the battle thru a Bradley Command Vehicle and the comms lines are still active. The command delegation is mounted on two BCVs, one M577 Command Post Carrier on M113 chassis for the battalion sergeant major, two MT-LBs and a M1130, as well as signals trucks and vehicles. BG DeRosa had just dismounted and had called up MG Scioscia from the FOB in Derhachi regarding the readiness of the combat element. With him is MG Reagins, the representative of the 46th Command who serves as its operational commander in Ukraine, as brigade commander BG Hopkins, with his deputy COL Campbell the brigade XO, are still on the FOB and are moving there to help better supervise the operation at hand. BG DeRosa is the command's operational XO for Ukrainian operations.

"General DeRo, we understand," the battalion commander noted, "and we are already coordinating with the 113rd. Intel states there are Russians from 2 infantry battalions of the 200th Motor Rifle Brigade stationed north of our positions, and the Ukrainians are heading there now. We are providing force multipliers for this and are fighting with them." This was in response to a question by the brigadier general that they understood the directives given the previous day in a command briefing in Kharkiv with the Ukrainian liasons and representatives of the 113rd Brigade regarding the operation they would jointly do that day after having helped liberate Tsyrkuny. Just after their arrival, they linked up with the 72nd Mechanized Brigade of the UGF and helped them perform company-level ops with some large battalion level battles. And since April 12, they have been assigned to fight with the 113rd Territorial Defense Brigade, which they have been tasked for their ongoing operations, given that they are at the Kharkiv area. They have been in Tsyrkuny since yesterday, given that they and the 113rd were together in the battles for the township seat. Now they are fighting to recapture the rest of the township to the north.

"Where is 1st Battalion going?"

"Up north, to fight Russians where we are now at Cherkas'ki Tyshky", LTC Fenster answered. "The 113rd is already there with some of its companies with the rest on the main road. We've been asked to assist them in capturing the rest of the village. Ukrainian intel states that a few companies of the 2nd battalion, 200th Motor Rifle Brigade, are in the village, the rest to the north and on the main road where the 2nd Battalion and the rest of the 113rd are deployed now. We've been tasked to eliminate those elements or make them get out of the village, sir. We're waiting for two companies of the 1st Battalion 3rd NY who are already coming to our positions now to reinforce the battalion. Captain Judge of A Company leads that detachment."

"I understand," the brigadier general noted. "And two additional companies from 74th Division here as well?"

He answered yes, adding that their company commanders are there as well. Their position would be the basis of a future FOB for the Territorial Defense Forces in the future, but they are exploring other towns for the raising of new militia battalions under that force. And regarding who gave the order for the 3rd NY to be in Kharkiv, he responded that the order came from the desk of a fellow officer who trained with the 78th, COL Aaron Boone, their regimental commander.

"Be safe gentlemen, and good luck. The people of Kharkiv and all of Ukraine are hoping for a successful operation."

Just as the talk ended, Captain Judge arrived on his M2 Bradley with the elements of the 2 companies of 1st Battalion 3rd NY. He dismounts, and is joined by representatives of the company command, including his new company XO 1LT Kiner-Falefa appointed last March upon his transfer to the regiment, and the company first sergeant MSGT Rortvedt. 1LT Trevino is also with the 1st Battalion 78th BCT as part of those who were trained there before. Captain Frazier recognized his former fellow soldier, who was there in the Bronx with him as one of his lieutenants in the spring and summer of 2017 before moving to Queens with a transfer to the 62nd NY. The lieutenant Trevino was a part of the 61st Texas regiment which the captain was stationed for part of 2020. The captain is with elements of the company HQ and two platoons, with 1st platoon led by platoon commander 1LT Hicks, his XO 1LT Torres, a Venezuelan native who joined the regiment in the 2000s, and SSGT Rortvedt the platoon sergeant.

"Captain Judge sir!"

"Captain Frazier, sir. Belated congrats on your appointment. I was proud to be leading the men of the 3rd NY with you almost 4 years ago."

"First Lieutenant Trevino, sir. Glad you're back in the swing of things but in Eastern Europe," the first lieutenant said.

The captain answered, "I still remember being in Arlington. But the memories will stay for as long as I live, lieutenant."

The captains, after having saluted, were welcomed by the commanders of the companies of the 71st Atlanta and 83rd Philadelphia where they are as well as their XOs and first sergeants. Captain Judge was later welcomed by LTC Fenster, the 1st Battalion commanding officer, his XO, MAJ Sogard, the battalion sergeant major SGM Ronai and battalion staff. SFC Stanton of the 5th platoon of Able Company saluted his company commander in New York in the Bronx barracks, having joined the 78th's 1st Battalion this spring on transfer, because he was part of the brigade's mobilization platoon assigned twice as part of the 3rd Platoon. The captain was saluted as well by 1LT McCutchen, who was one of his officers in New York in the summer of 2018. Greeting one of his former officers in the battalion, reassigned first to Milwaukee before being recalled back to Cary, he remembered being with that battalion that year and said "Captain Judge, it's nice to see you again, but this time, welcome to Ukraine."

The captain from California was briefed by the 1st Battalion, 78th BCT commanding officer regarding the mission of their unit today, hoping that they would help in the operation that they would do together. He stated that "the 1st Battalion command sent me here with two companies of that very battalion to reinforce the 113rd Territorial Defense Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces" and that they will help it fulfill its stated objectives that day. He agreed to join the companies of the 71st Atlanta and 83rd Philadelphia for this.

While he was briefed, the rest of A and B Companies of 1st Battalion 3rd NY took up time to rest in their staging area with elements of the 1st Battalion 78th BCT, save for the 1st platoon of 43 personel who are already chatting with their counterparts in that battalion. They came from many countries, with Americans in the majority and those internationals wearing US Army uniform with their national flag patches. Among them is a Toms River native - CPL Marinaccio, who joined 1st Battalion's A Company this year after being with the battalion based in Scranton. He recognizes Captain Frazier, who is like him a resident of the town, but no longer in the uniform of the 63rd NY but of the 78th Brigade, with his national flag patch. 5 years ago, he joined the regiment after a collegiate service stinct in Delaware.

"Captain Frazier!"

Running towards the man and his company XO CPT Tulowitzki he saluted and introduced himself. "Corporal Ron Marinaccio, sir. Just like you, from Toms River in New Jersey. Fought with my regiment in Bucha and later on got moved to Kharkiv."

"Glad you came here to fight for the Ukraine. And you were among the first Americans. For me and the 78th, we were in Irpin for our first combat missions."

"A great pleasure, Captain Frazier. Fighting in the spirit of heroes of the past, I feel ready to carry on that fighting traditions of the peoples of our home state."

The captain enjoyed also talking with a long time 1LT, Kyle Higashioka, who is with the 78th's 1st Battalion this time around as part of Frazier's A Company. A graduate of UC Berkeley he too is from California like Captain Judge - but is a Japanese American. However he began as an NCO (joining the regiment, then under BG Torre, in 2007 as a Corporal) and in 2016 was commissioned thanks to his studies in the OCS, joining the 1st Battalion as a 2LT in 2017. His usual battle companion, 1LT Gerrit Cole who was also trained in Cary, is with the 1st Battalion of the 78th instead as part of B Company. However, he began with the regiment in Pittsburgh with 1LT McCutchen and another part of the 3rd NY but now recalled to the 78th Brigade, SSGT Taillion, despite having Canadian heritage in one of his parents. They talked on the experience of serving in the same regiment as now BG Girardi, now reassigned as PAO chief of the 71st Chicago. He was their former commanding officer. The lieutenant and SSGT Taillon both recognized the captain who they met during his days with the 169th Cincinnati Infantry as a platoon and later company commander.

As the conversation continued, COL Bianco arrived in a Humvee to help direct the operation. "Ten-hut" was heard as the colonel disembarked from the vehicle to meet the men and to continue monitoring the situation on the ground. The 6th platoon's commander, 1LT Payton, ran to the colonel together with his staff and SSGT Montgomery, together with LTC Fenster, LTCOL Andruw Jones whose son Drew is with the battalion, and the battalion staff present as well as SGM Ronai. All saluted the colonel, as well as the company commanders plus those of the 3 regiments who have been there that day to help that battalion. Then 1LT Payton recognized the presence of his platoon before their training officer.

"First Lieutenant Payton, sir. Elements of the 6th Platoon, Able Company of 1st Battalion, 78th IBCT, all present and accounted for. A pleasure for you to be here today."

"Lieutenant Payton", replied Colonel Bianco,"The road had been tough, but you and your boys have indeed made me proud. All that hard training has paid off, and I'm glad all of you are still here fighting for Ukraine and our freedom. Good luck today, gentlemen."

"My pleasure, colonel", the platoon commander replied.

1LT Bradfield the platoon XO and 2LT Wilson the platoon adjutant also saluted the colonel, telling him that they too are ready to fulfill their duty, having applied their training lessons and regimen in the first weeks since they and the rest of the 1st Battalion arrived in the country.

The colonel had arrived to help direct the operational work the 1st Battalion had been assigned for today, and having been briefed by LTC Fenster, MAJ Sogard and parts of battalion staff as well as its lead Ukrainian liason on reports that elements of the 1st Battalion, 1st Motor Rifle (Infantry) Regiment, Donbass People's Militia, and 2 battalions of the 200th Motor Rifle Brigade of the Northern Fleet Coastal Forces are stationed north of their area, and the 1st and 2nd Battalions have been informed by the commandant of the 113rd TDF Brigade covering Kharkiv Oblast to assist in their moving north, in gratitude for their assistance in the capture of Tsyrkuny a few days ago. The Ukrainian liason stated in the intel and situationer reports that the 200th's presence is only reinforced by a few field artillery batteries and MBTs under brigade HQ from the artillery regiment and the tank battalion, respectively, the tanks being the T-80BVMs and the artillery made up of 2S7 Msta-S self-propelled howitzers from the brigade's two artillery battalions. Their mission is to help the 113rd in its operation to remove Russians from the twin villages north of Tsyrkuny so that the whole of that township is cleared of Russians and their allies.

Upon recieving the reports, COL Bianco told everyone, "It's gonna be a long day ahead for us here. But as long as we do our best, we will drive the Russians away from the northern edges of Kharkiv, together. Mark my words, boys, this will be one of the biggest operations of this war, and General DeRosa is expecting all of us to play our part to help finish this operation. Don't spare any expense. We have a goal to do, to help Ukraine defeat Russia at all costs no matter what."

LTC Fenster replied that the battalion, together with the attached elements from other units of the brigade and the 169th Corps, is ready to fulfill their tasks for today, and will follow the right strategies needed to win the day. Then, he resumed the briefing conference informing the colonel that given the intel that in Cherkas'ki Tyshky elements of the Russian 200th Infantry Brigade and the 1st DPR Motor Rifles are stationed with more up north, given the consultations among the commanders and XOs of his subordinated units in the battalion he has agreed to implement the battle plan for the day. The colonel concurred and informed his superior officers via radio of their readiness.

Betrayal... (Drabble)

WARNING!! WARNING!! SPOILERS FOR VOL 7 CH 11 PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU WANT TO BE SPOILED.

The battle against the Artorian military was at its climax, the Unified Solitas Union consisted of the Brumelian Military (Atelier Paladins), The Atlesian Military, and The Mantlean Resistance Force. All of whom were making progress in pushing the Artorians out as they were on the verge of defeat.

“We have them on the run! We’ll do some mopping up, Manta unit you’re with me!” Eros shouted at the Atlesian unit with all of them saying in unison “Yes Sir!!” with the Lieutenant getting on an Atelier hoverbike and driving off to find more Artorian soldiers hiding from the unified military forces. Whilst the others got in their vehicles and followed Eros. Inside the the armored vehicle the leader of Manta unit was receiving a call from none other than Ironwood.

“General Ironwood? Whats wrong.” The leader of Manta unit said waiting for a reply.

“We have detained the traitors to Atlas, and I’m declaring Martial Law on all of Atlas, execute the members of Team BLCK and anyone who is affiliated with them. Pull out of Mantle and return to Atlas immediately..” Ironwood said in a disgruntled voice.

“Yes Sir.” the squad-leader said getting on top of the Technical vehicle aiming down the sight and locking onto Eros’ Hoverbike firing which caused the Atelier soldier look behind himself as the missile struck underneath launching the pilot into the air and slamming into the ground.

“What... the bloody...” Eros said before going still conscious as he remained limp to give the impression he is dead with one of the trucks stopping and lightly kicking Eros’ body.

“Lieutenant Eros has been eliminated... all Atlesian forces be advised execute all members of Team BLCK and everyone that is affiliated with them. Show them No Mercy.” An Atlesian soldier said walking away and getting back inside the Techinical driving it off as Eros got up groaning taking off his helmet and spitting out some blood.

“All... Atelier and Resistance Forces be advised, P-Protect all members of Team BLCK I repeat! PROTECT MY FRIENDS!!!” Eros said putting his helmet back on and limping away.

In another area of Mantle, Blade and Outsider was leading the charge against an Artorian hold out shooting and slashing his way through his enemies. If only that was so easy...

“Come on!!! We’re almost done here!!!” Blade said punching an Artorian soldier unconscious whilst Outsider grabbed onto one enemy soldier and biting on their neck crushing their throat . Until...

“KCHCK CLICK KCHK.”

The sounds of the Atlesian weapons pointing at him and Outsider which included the Resistance forces as well who were looking as confused as ever with Blade just in shock at what he was witnessing.

“W-What...” He said in a horrified manner with the Atlesian soldiers opening fire on the Stryker and his forces, whilst Mantleans shot back with one of them approaching Blade quickly saying. “GET TO EROS NOW!!! THE ATLESIANS ORDERED TO KILL Y-” He was saying until he was shot in face.

“Fuck!” Blade said shooting his new and improved Inferno and Voltage in their shotgun forms trying to get away as fast he could until one bullet from the Atlesians found their mark striking Blade with such precision as he grunted holding onto his wound. Whilst he started to run getting away from the battle with Outsider looking worried as well joining his master as the two ran for their lives.

With Louvel... if it was different for him and his stealth team watching the Artorians run only for the wolf faunus to hear a garbled communication come in through his helmet kneeling down staying low watching his prey(Artorian Soldiers) march through the city rushing for their LZ.

“This is Shinba... is something wrong?” He said unaware of the horrors that was happening around Mantle and his team.

“LOU- THE -LESIANS! EXE- CUTION ORDER. ON YOU!!!! GET TO - EVAC POINT DELTA” Jack shouted on the other side getting cut off from the explosions happening on his side and from the sounds of it... Jack was being attacked by the Atlesians.

Louvel’s anger finally reached a breaking point when heard the sounds of weaponry behind from his Atlesian Stealth Unit. “Sorry there but animals like you need to be pu- GYACK!!!” He was about to say until from a distance he was shot and from Louvel’s helmet.. if he zoomed in.. it was Corona.. looking like she had went through a fight of her life.

“DAMN YOU ALL!!!”

Louvel shouted unsheathing his Katana swinging at each Atlesian soldier that tried to assassinate him cutting each one down as if they were butter to him growling with the Wolf faunus releasing a scream to the sky hopefully having a friendship with one of them would lead to something bigger maybe faunus rights in Atlas... instead he was met with Betrayal and hatred until one of the Atlesian assassins shot the screaming Louvel missing his shot as it only struck him in the stomach.

Back in Menagerie in the Shinbaori Temples, Dalai dropped his staff as he felt weak, his spirit rocked to his very core with his hand moving to his stomach with his wolf ears drooping down.”My... Son...” he said feeling his son’s spirit being wounded.

In the sky Ace was flying with the other Atlesians shooting down any pterasaur like Grimm attempting to get into Mantle. Until he heard Kazura screaming something over the comms. “Kaz! Whats going on?!” Ace shouted back.

“Ace! It’s the Atlesians! They’re trying to kill us! We need fire support in Area G5, DANGER CLOSE!!!!!!” Kazura shouted as Ace closed his eyes grimacing angrily with his teeth gritted opening . “HEY ATLESIAN FORCE. FAREWELL YOU PIECES OF SHIT YOUR ON YOUR OWN!!!!” Ace growled moving his Jet away from the Atlesian Air Force. “WAIT ACE WE NEED YOUR HELP-AGGGGHHHH!!!!” Someone in their bullhead shouted until being ripped to shreds while Ace flew his Jet above Area G5.

“GET TO COVER!!!” Ace shouted over the Comms launching two missiles at the Atlesian forces pinning Kazura,as the Knight used his body as a shield for them protecting his soldiers both Atelier and Mantlean from the incoming Explosion with his Semblance activating keeping backsides protected as he saw four, no six figures come up to the Knight with the dust from the explosion clearing.

Blade, Louvel, Eros, Outsider,Corona, and Jack

“What happened... why would they be attacking us?” Kazura asked in shame looking at his friends as they all looked like they’ve been through some serious hell.

“Ironwood..he called for an execution order on us.. Not to mention if I’m correct..he’s also calling all Atlesian forces back to Atlas to leave Mantle to burn...” Louvel said with a bit of poison and hatred within his voice.

Kazura on the other hand tightened up his fist as it trembled lightly. “We’re Going to Brumel...” He said in a dark tone ready to bring war right to the Atlas..

If only Ironwood read the Brumelian-Atlesian Accord.. that it stated: “An Act of Violence towards the Prince or The King is a violation and an instant declaration of War.” Atlas... you have made another Enemy..

March 27th - Wolfsbane

Rahne Sinclair was born in the North Highlands of Ullapool, Scotland. She was the product of a secret affair between the local minister and a prostitute. Rahne's mother died in childbirth and her father raised her as though she were an orphan, not revealing to her nor the community that she was actually his biological daughter. As a product of his feelings of guilt, Rahne’s father raised her under a staunch religious moral code and this would have a profound effect on Rahne and her outlook on the world.

Rahne is a Mutant, possessing the X-Gene that can bestow special powers. In Rahne's case, she gained the ability of lycanthropy, the ability to shape shift into either a wolf or a wolf/human hybrid. In her werewolf form, Rahne possesses greatly enhanced strength, speed and endurance. This Mutant ability manifested in Rahne’s middle adolescence and, at first, she experienced difficulty controlling her transformative powers. This led to her being mistaken as a monster and chased by a mob of villagers led by her father. Fortunately, Rahne was saved by Dr. Moira MacTaggert who brought the young woman to America where she was enrolled in Charles Xavier’s school for Gifted Youngsters.

Taking on the alias of ‘Wolfsbane,’ Rahne went on to become one of Xavier’s New Mutants, training to potentially matriculate into the next generation of The Uncanny X-Men. She initially struggled in adjusting to her new home but quickly became close friends with her fellow students, especially Daniel Monster (Mirage) and Sam Guthrie (Cannonball).

Wolfsbane would go on to have numerous adventures as a member of The New Mutants. A later mission resulted in her being trapped in her werewolf form unable to transform back into her original physical appearance. Soon thereafter, Wolfsbane joined a new iteration of X-Factor and, with the aide of her friends, was finally able to regain the ability to return to her human-looking form. During her time with X-Factor, Rahne became close friends with her teammates, Strong Guy and Madrox, and experienced difficulties with her unrequited crush on the team’s leader, Havok.

Rahne eventually left X-Factor and relocated to Muir Island where she assisted Dr. MacTaggert in searching for a cure for the Mutant killing disease known as The Legacy Virus. She later became an instructor at the Xavier School where she was involved in an elicit affair with her charismatic student, Elixir.

Meanwhile, Rahne's father had become a devout follower and lieutenant in Reverend Stryker’s militant anti-Mutant faction known as The Purifiers. This ultimately led to a bloody confrontation where Rahne was forced to kill her own father. Convalescing from the traumatic ordeal, Rahne encountered Hrimhari, the Wolf-Prince of Asgard. The two fell in love and ended up having a child together. Their half Mutant/half Asgardian son, whom she named Tier, possessed many of the same powers as his parents. Rahne was wounded in action during her pregnancy and Hrimhari ended up bargaining away his own life to the death goddess, Hela, in exchange for saving Rahne a their unborn son.

The infant Tier ended up in the care of Jack Russell, the hero known as Werewolf by Night, as Rahne continued to recover from the tremendous physical and emotional traumas she had endured. A future version of Tier would end up embroiled in large scale battle with a group of extra dimensional beings known as The Hell Lords. Tier ended up perishing in this battle, further compounding Rahne’s feelings of despair.

A despondent Rahne rededicated herself to being an X-Men, becoming a part of Cyclops’ New Tian strike-strike team. She was murdered not long thereafter by a group of bigots who attacked her upon learning that she was a Mutant.

Rahne was later resurrected on the Isle of Krakoa and has continued working with her old friend, Dani Moonstar, in an effort to better cope with her pain and past hardships.

A version of Woodbine appeared in the Fox Film's movie, The New Mutants, portrayed by actress Maisie Williams. The heroine first appeared in Marvel Graphic Novel #4 (1982).

Very close but not quite the same. Ideally my Superman's life story would follow a rough time line of:

Pre-Superman:

Doomed planet, desperate scientists, kindly couple.

Clark goes on adventures with the Legion of Superheroes as a kid in the future, which he doesn't remember because Saturn Girl wipes his mind before sending him back every time.

Clark and Lex are briefly friends in Smallville before there's a quarrel between the two that causes Lex to cut ties and leave Smallville.

Clark and Lana are childhood friends who date in high school, Clark wants to play sports but Pa forbids it. Clark dates pre-Livewire Leslie and Lori in college.

Ma dies of breast cancer during Clark's sophomore year of college and Pa dies of a heart attack right before Clark graduates. Clark buries them in Smallville and hands over the Kent farm to a family in need to take over. Clark only returns to Smallville periodically to pay his respects at his parents graves.

Clark walks the Earth for a while, helping people in secret and seeing what humanity is like while he wrestles with how to use his powers and what he wants from life.

Year 1:

Clark secures a job as a journalist working for the Daily Star, and shares an apartment in Metropolis with Jimmy Olsen who is a freelance photojournalist.

Lois Lane is his rival working for the Daily Planet, but the two enjoy bantering with each other.

Clark debuts as Superman in Metropolis wearing his t-shirt and jeans look and with the Golden Age powerset. He targets the corrupt elite in addition to criminals, earning the attention of the military. Ultra-Humanite is Clark's first "supervillain" and head of Intergang which covertly controls Metropolis behind the scenes.

Dr. Lex Luthor, working as a civilian attaché to General Sam Lane, helps capture and torture Superman with Humanite's help until Superman escapes. Lex reveals to Clark that he's from a planet called "Krypton", and Clark takes his rocket with him which the military had recovered. Using the rocket, Clark creates the Fortress of Solitude in the Arctic which gives him his first proper "suit".

Superman exposes and takes down Ultra-Humanite and his lieutenants, throwing the organization into chaos. Metropolis is freed from Intergang's grip, but Intergang has also lost control of the criminal underworld which allows new criminal organizations to grow in strength, leading to gang wars.

Stryker's Island is reopened to house Humanite, the first supervillain to be imprisoned there.

Public opinion on Superman is divided, with some viewing him as a hero while others are worried about his reckless and aggressive approach to crime-fighting. For now Superman's alien origins are still a secret.

Year 2:

The Daily Star is unable to stay solvent unfortunately, and is shut down. Clark gets offered a job at the Planet thanks to Perry being impressed with his articles and Lois vouching for him. Jimmy also joins the Daily Planet staff.

Maggie Sawyer arrives in Metropolis and joins the Special Crimes Unit with Dan Turpin as her partner

Lex creates Metallo and Kryptonite Man as Anti-Superman weapons for the military as part of Project 7734.

Superman acquires the ability to fly

Superman and Mr. Mxyzptlk match wits for the first time.

Toyman and Prankster make their debuts.

Clark rescues Krypto from the Phantom Zone, meets Xa-Du for the first time

Lana arrives in Metropolis having travelled the world, working as an engineer. Clark and her enter into a relationship again and he moves out of the shared apartment with Jimmy into one with Lana.

Lucy Lane flunks out of college and decides to join the military against the advice of Lois.

Superman's status as an alien is leaked to the world by Lex, public opinion on Superman turns even more negative as a result

Superman exposes Project 7734 with Lois' help, Sam gets court-martialed for the multiple breaches of law and ethics he's committed trying to capture Superman. Lex gets fired and decides to be his own boss from now.

Amanda Waller saves Sam from imprisonment by offering him a job with a new organization she's building charged with a mandate to protect the world from aliens, superhumans, magic, and more: ARGUS. Sam accepts the offer and disappears from public life. Metallo follows Sam Lane into becoming one of ARGUS' first agents. Kryptonite Man goes rogue and becomes a wanted criminal.

STAR Labs is formed

Superman and Batman meet for the first time. Superman gives Batman a Kryptonite ring as a failsafe should he ever become a threat to humanity.

Year 3:

Lexcorp is founded and rapidly grows in both size and power. Lex begins campaigning for a series of projects aimed at restoring Metropolis' status as the "City of Tomorrow". City officials approve his project proposals and Metropolis rapidly transforms into a technological wonderland.

Livewire, Atomic Skull, Volcana, and Terra-Man make their debuts

Lex hires Bloodsport to kill Superman

Parasite is created after an accident at STAR Labs

Lex creates Bizarro after a failed attempt at cloning Superman. Decides to attempt to create a hybrid Kryptonian/human clone with his next attempt using his own DNA

Lobo and Superman meet for the first time and immediately hate each other

Brainiac arrives at Earth and attempts to capture both Superman and Metropolis. Superman defeats Brainiac, winning the city over to his side. Superman's status as a beloved hero worldwide begins here.

Henderson retires as commissioner of MPD and picks Maggie as his successor, a highly unorthodox choice. Out of respect for his long history, and recognizing that the MPD needs someone who can guide them through this new era, Sawyer is installed as Commissioner. Lex pulls strings to ensure Atomic Skull gets Maggie's old position as head of SCU.

Lana and Clark break up again, for good this time

Years 4-5:

Superman fails to save Hank Henshaw and his family from their transformations, Henshaw disappears promising revenge

The Eradicator and Superman confront each other for the first time

Clark and Lois date for the first time. Lois ends the relationship when she detects Clark is keeping secrets from her, tells him to come back when he's done lying

Zod and Ursa escape from the Phantom Zone for the first time and clash with Superman.

Superman meets Mongul and Maxima for the first time, he and Maxima have a brief romance

Justice League forms for the first time to fend off an invasion from Apokolips, Superman is one of the founding members

Sam brings Lucy into the ARGUS fold

Master Jailer begins building prisons and lairs for the megacorps and supervillains

Years 5-10:

Superman encounters Galactic Golem for the first time

Superman is ensnared by the Black Mercy and narrowly defeats Mongul

Superman and Wonder Woman date for a while, relationship is ended amicably and the two remain friends

Jon becomes Superman Secundus

Clark forms the Authority, gets kicked off the Justice League, travels to Warworld

Clark would be in his 50s currently, with his aged look a result of his exposure to the Breach despite his Kryptonian physiology and Lois looking young because of the advancement in technology and health care that the DCU has compared to our own. Note that this is just a core timeline and doesn't include everything I want, but I like the idea that Tynion had proposed in his Substack that Batman is currently in his 50s, merely outwardly young because of the Lazarus Pit. Likewise this is Superman in the twilight era of his superhero career, not the end of his time on Earth as Clark Kent, but you can see the end approaching.

Eventually Lois will die, Clark will basically hand over the defense of Earth entirely to Jon and Kenan and focus all his attention on protecting and growing the United Planets. Roaming the galaxy with the Authority, Clark will have the sporadic relationship here and there with other women post-Lois, some of which will lead to the descendants we saw in House of El. Kara grows Luna into a separate political entity from Earth which joins the United Planets to the objections of Earth. Conner joins Justice Incarnate and protects the Multiverse with Cassie. Irons and Lucy will have a son together, and Irons will retire Steel. Tanya joins the Justice League at some point.

Millions of years in the future we get DC One Million with Clark ascending to become the Golden God of Superman Prime One Million. His descendants outnumber the stars in the galaxy, and he's finally reunited with Lois. Everything works out in the end.

154. Sonic Super Special #14

Law of the Land

Writer: Evan Skolnick and Jim Spivey Pencils: Suzanne Paddock and Harvo! Colors: Josh and Aimee Ray

This is more of a silly story, which, while the timeline isn't specified, I estimate to take place sometime before Eggman's return at the beginning of the era. This is due to the fact that it begins with Sonic and Sally strolling peacefully through the forest while discussing how nothing has been going on lately, a statement which is hugely at odds with what has been going on lately. Suddenly, a zone portal opens up in front of them, and two echidnas in riot gear burst through, slap Sally knocking her out, and grab Sonic while telling him he's under arrest for "extreme mental anguish and permanent emotional scarring," which if you ask me just sounds like an average day on Tumblr. They drag him through the portal into the city of Litigopolis, and take him to the castle, where the J.U.D.G.E. - the Judgmental Unrelenting Digitized Governmental Enforcer, which of course looks exactly like original Robotnik - is to sentence him for his apparent crimes. He's greeted by Johnny Snively, the prosecutor, but luckily for him his lawyer is Sally McAcorn, there to act as his defense. It takes them ten hours in court, but McAcorn eventually manages to get him out on bail, and explains how the law became so strict in the city.

Eventually, the amount of lawsuits and crimes became so high that the king hired Robotnik Enterprises to build the J.U.D.G.E., a supercomputer which was supposed to help manage the city's legal system. It of course quickly took over, sentenced the king to life in prison for "ruler malpractice," created a bunch of new, unreasonably strict laws to keep the populace fearful and complacent, and hired a bunch of echidnas as his security force. McAcorn tells Sonic that no one has tried to shut off the J.U.D.G.E. because of their fear of said security force, which is of course Sonic's cue to race away hoping to pull off just such a scheme. However, as expected, the moment he enters the J.U.D.G.E.'s HQ…

He runs for his life, deciding to abandon his attempt for now and racing back to safety at McAcorn's residence. She's irritated at his rash decision, thinking he's only made the case for his innocence worse, even though they now have video proof from amateur videographers on the streets that the original crime he was arrested for wasn't even committed by him.

Of course it would have been Evil Sonic, zone-hopper extraordinaire. McAcorn cautions Sonic against committing any more crimes, thinking it best to lay low as committing even one more crime might cause the J.U.D.G.E. to have a massive meltdown. And thus, Sonic gets his second crazy idea of the day.

The plan works, and the J.U.D.G.E. blows up, sending Snively flying out of the building. When Lieutenant Knuckles of the police force tries to show up to arrest Sonic once more, McAcorn simply whacks him with her suitcase. Sonic worries about how he'll get home, since the technology used to create the zone portals was destroyed in the explosion, but you know who always ends up showing up when zone-hopping takes place - Zonic, of course! He cheekily sends Sonic back off to his home zone before he can get a grateful kiss from McAcorn, which is probably a good thing even though Sonic's mad about it, because… well, c'mon buddy, that may be a Sally, but that's not your Sally!

Best of Times Worst of Times

Writer: Ken Penders Pencils: Steven Butler Colors: Josh and Aimee Ray

So Knuckles' whole story has kind of been put on hold lately, due both to the cancellation of his own series, and the Sonic Adventure adaption that had been taking up all the screentime until recently. But Penders has finally found a solution to this: from now on, until the end of the fourth era (with only a few exceptions here and there between issues), Knuckles and his race get the backup story all to themselves. Karl handles most of the main stories of each issue, which all deal with Sonic and Knothole and, you know, the main thing most people are probably coming to the comic to see, while Penders gets to handle everything past each halfway mark. I would say this is mostly a good thing, as there's quite a few loose ends that need to be wrapped up from KtE, and y'all already know I quite liked that series. However, now that all of Knuckles and the other echidnas' ventures have been reduced to backup stories within the main comic, the quality of said stories begins to suffer drastically. This story is of the same quality of the original KtE, probably because it gets to be a normal story length thanks to the double length of Super Specials, but it also marks the beginning point of a pretty infamous arc within the comic, simply dubbed the Green Knuckles Saga by many fans. Wondering what the hell the Green Knuckles Saga might be? Well, we only have a few issues left before we find out - so for now, let's press on!

This story hilariously opens with an honest-to-god *record scratch* "Yep, that's me. You're probably wondering how I got into this situation" moment. A confused Knuckles finds himself running for his life from a massive, expanding orange blast of energy, which chases him all the way to the edge of his island. Having no other choice, he leaps for his life over the edge, into the ocean far below.

Well, that's probably not good. But how, indeed, did Knuckles *record scratch* get into this situation? It all began at his mother's wedding that morning. She and Wynmacher have finally gotten married, and while Knuckles is still a little torn about how to feel, ultimately he's happy for his mom, recognizing that Wynmacher really is a genuinely good guy.

Romance is in the air on this day, and Vector, predictably, has a bit of a sour attitude about it, flippantly dismissing the mood while Julie-Su happily hangs onto Knuckles' arm. They find Constable Remington in the crowd with his pretty companion Komi-Ko, but they don't get long to chat before he gets a call from the precinct, calling him back to deal with a brewing situation. While he leaves, telling Knuckles he'll call if he needs backup, we head over to Haven, where we find a very, very unexpected guest visiting.

Man, just when you thought Kenders had introduced enough grandfathers, we get one more! This guy is the father of Hawking, who if you'll remember is still lying in the medbay on life support in a coma. If you're wondering why we haven't heard of him before, it's because he apparently transcended his physical form a while ago so he could spend the rest of his "life" in quiet meditation in another zone, you know, as one does. However, just a little while ago he felt a disturbance in the Force, and realizing that Dimitri was amassing his forces for yet another attempt to take over the island and echidna civilization as a whole, Mathias just plopped himself back into the physical realm somehow so he could lead his many, many descendants into battle against the Dark Legion. I really just can't get over how this guy, never once mentioned or even hinted at before, has suddenly appeared out of goddamn nowhere to introduce the next plot hook. While this is going on, Knuckles, Julie-Su, and the rest of the Chaotix (still minus Charmy - he's really been missing for a long time now, hasn't he?) all saddle up on some streaking pashas and gallop out of the city to let off some steam. Really, now that the whole Chaos situation has been resolved, life seems positively idyllic on the Floating Island, doesn't it? After dropping Komi-Ko back off at her apartment, Remington hails a cab which just so happens to contain our old friend Harry, who is not at all happy to see him.

He tells Remington that apparently, General von Stryker has decided to organize a massive protest - meaning, since we're talking about the dingoes here, more like a riot - as apparently, conditions for the dingoes in the city still haven't improved, even despite Remington taking a personal interest. Remington is worried that with the High Council due to make a decision on the matter soon, things will quickly spiral out of control if the protest goes forward, and Harry apparently agrees, as he doesn't even demand payment for the cab ride, just telling Remington to forget he ever saw him there as Remington meets up with his men nearby. Meanwhile, we learn that Knuckles apparently didn't take everyone along on the pasha ride purely for leisure - he's in fact led them straight to the Grand Conservatory, the very place he first met Archimedes and fought Enerjak.

Well well, nice to see Julie-Su actually acknowledge the meeting she had with her adoptive father a while ago! Though it's certainly suspicious that he apparently just "disappeared" shortly thereafter… Now get ready for some rapid skipping around between characters! Knuckles isn't the only one who's come to the Grand Conservatory - Mathias has led the entire Brotherhood there, as it's apparently where the Dark Legion has holed up for now. Spectre rushes especially aggressively into the battle, with the others noting that this seems personal for him, and the entire Brotherhood teams up to begin the assault on the Legion's new makeshift base, causing them to begin an evacuation. Far away from here, Wynmacher and Lara-Le land in their personal aircraft on a landing pad at the "Albion Chalet," which despite its name is just a luxury destination on the Floating Island itself, for their honeymoon. At the same time, von Stryker leads his soldiers into their riot, firing their guns wildly into the air with the safeties off, shouting about how the echidnas aren't treating them nicely enough. Gee, I wonder why, General? Remington and his men arrive at the scene, and Remington orders everyone to hold fire, still hoping that he can convince the general to see reason. On Knuckles' side of the Conservatory, Legion members begin pouring into the room, and before Knuckles can react a group of soldiers grab Julie-Su and drag her off into one of their flying saucer vehicles, which flies away leaving the others unable to help her as they're attacked by more soldiers. And finally, back at Haven…

Man, I genuinely feel bad for Hawking - he was literally kept on life support this entire time, with obviously no hope of recovery, and he had to wait until everyone was out of the place to even be allowed to properly die. Remember, it's been nearly a year by now of him just lying on this table, with Locke even expending his own energies to keep Hawking alive at one point when he started to flatline. Julie-Su is taken to a large battleship flying just off the edge of the Floating Island, where Lien-Da gloats about capturing her and mockingly reminds her of how she's her half-sister, clearly still not over their father having remarried in the past. Geez, what a petty bitch, right?

Oh man, we finally get to see Simon again, as well as seeing Floren-Ca for the first time! Back on the bridge, Dimitri defends having had Julie-Su abducted to Moritori Rex, who has by now gotten rid of his visor to reveal perfectly normal-looking organic eyes (something which seems a little at odds with his previous backstory), saying that Julie-Su is still a part of his family whether Moritori likes it or not. Huh, didn't take you for the sentimental type, Dimitri. He then orders Moritori to fire the Quantum Beam, and it bursts out of the ship's cannons in an explosion of light, consuming every part of the Floating Island, interrupting every scene, happy and unhappy, over the entire island.

Goddamn. Honestly, this kind of reminds me of the scene from Sonic '06 where Solaris begins consuming all of time and space. Dimitri expresses regret that he had to pull the trigger with Knuckles still on the island, but ultimately recognizes that Knuckles only ever stood to get in their way, and claims that they can finally reclaim what is rightfully theirs. The ship flies off toward the island, which has begin to fade from existence as if into another dimension. No one is aware of Knuckles' survival, a lone figure floating unconscious on debris left in the waters far below…

Jon Stryker is an heir to a medical equipment company. Forbes reports his net worth at $4.3 billion.

Stryker's grandfather founded Stryker Corp., which is a medical supply company that sold $14.9 billion in equipment in 2019, according to Forbes. One of the heirs to the family fortune, Stryker is a philanthropist, donating large sums of his money to charities and scholarships. So far, he has given away $585 million.

Stryker also founded the Arcus Foundation, which fights for LGBTQ rights and ape conservation.

Norwegian businessman Stein Erik Hagen is worth $2.7 billion, according to Forbes.

Hagen founded the supermarket chain Rimi with his father in the 1970s and is a major shareholder of the consumer goods conglomerate Orkla. He was Norway's seventh wealthiest person in 2020, according to Norwegian business magazine Kapital.

Hagen, who is bisexual, publicly came out on one of Norway's biggest chat shows, Skavaln, in 2015, saying he only came to understand his sexuality "well into adulthood," The Local reported.

Jennifer Pritzker, a hotel heiress, is the only openly transgender billionaire in the world.

A former lieutenant in the Army, Pritzker inherited part of the Hyatt hotel fortune, giving her a net worth of $2 billion, according to Forbes.

She came out as transgender in 2013 without much fanfare, but she made headlines in 2017 when President Trump announced a ban on transgender people serving in the military. Before this, Pritzker supported Trump and donated large sums to his campaign, but the ban prompted her to support Biden in his bid for the presidency.

Fashion designer Domenico Dolce is worth $1.6 billion.

After meeting in a club, Dolce and Stefano Gabbana started a fashion brand together in 1985. The company's signature animal print made waves at fashion events and even caught the attention of Madonna, solidifying Dolce & Gabbana's place in fashion history.

His business partner Stefano Gabbana is also worth $1.6 billion.

In 2020, Apple CEO Tim Cook officially became a billionaire.

He is now worth $1.3 billion, according to Forbes. Despite his billionaire status, he lives in a relatively modest home in Palo Alto.

He came out as gay in 2014.

Fashion designer Michael Kors used to be worth $1 billion, but today, his fortune is estimated to be $600 million.

Kors began his fashion design company in his mother's basement in the '80s and turned it into an empire. In 2011, he took the company public when it was valued at $3.5 billion. In 2004, he became a superstar when he became a judge on "Project Runway." Ten years later, Kors became a billionaire.

Today, his fortune is a bit smaller, but he calls downtown New York City home with his husband, Lance Le Pere.

Elton John has been in the music industry for decades, earning a fortune that's reportedly near $500 million.

John began his music career in England and became known for his flamboyant and outrageous costumes. Quickly, he became a cultural phenomenon, launching his decade-spanning career. He still tours today and has sold over 300 million records, according to The Times.

Ellen DeGeneres' net worth is estimated at $370 million, according to Forbes.

She's married to Portia de Rossi and they live in Los Angeles.

That One Time Shit Went From Bad To Worse

Summary: The past downright sucks when it catches up. Pairing: Silverpool (Wade Wilson x Pietro Maximoff) Warnings: Explicit language, mentions of torture, mentions of abuse, narrowminded shithead army fuck, injuries, this might turn into a RP thing which does not ever have to be matched in length. Word Count: 1648

Wade was heading home – he’d spent the evening at Sister Margaret’s School for Wayward Children. It had (eventually) been a fun night, though it took him some time to get back into his game, mainly because he missed Pietro. He’d shot some pool, thrown knives (instead of darts) and won, arm wrestled some bikers, shared some of his latest adventures and mishaps – and more importantly, caught up with Weasel. As he said bye to the guys at the door everyone seemed to be in good spirits, telling him not to forget them, come back soon, bring the Silvery guy. It made him smile; how easy it was to jump back into his old lifestyle.

Wade cut through a back alley. It was faster, besides, he wasn’t afraid that anyone would jump him. I’m friggin Deadpool after all. I can hold my own. It was dark, he could hardly see the contours of the trash bins and flattened cardboard boxes that told tales of hobos and junkies. They’d be off the street at night, though. Dark shadows moved between them. Rats or cats most likely. The street lights were like small glowing dots far up ahead – it gave him the whole “light at the end of your tunnel” feeling – though he was pretty sure there was no light at the end of his. Hell, I won’t even get to do the tunnel. I can’t die. He huffed to himself.

Somewhere someone hummed an all too familiar tune. At first he thought it came from one of the apartments above him. It floated in and out of the noises of the city, but grew more solid as he walked forward. It’s tones were in minor, sad but oddly comforting. How they moved up and down felt like being rocked back and forth, safe in someone’s embrace. Maybe because that’s what he tied to them. The melody drew him to a place he thought he’d left behind ages ago. Wade froze and listened. The hum broke into song with actual words – and it became painfully evident that it wasn’t performed by the one he expected to hear it from. Even he noticed that it was accented; not native Ukrainian. The tiny hope he had that Pietro had sought him out was ripped away from him.

“That does not belong to you,” Wade spoke to the street lights up ahead, as he glanced around. He couldn’t actually see anyone… Could he? “No? I don’t think it’s yours either.” the voice was raspy, as if they’ve had too much whiskey, which wasn’t too far from the truth. He instantly recognised the owner of it. “You’re still alive, eh? I thought you drowned yourself in a barrel of Jack.” Wade muttered, still trying to figure out where he was hidden. “Why don’t you come out and play. Did you bring your tasers this time? I love that electric tingle.” Wade went for his gun and realised far too late that he wasn’t carrying. Shit. Well, the throwing knives would have to do. Wade reached under his jacket – finding that most of them had been left in the target back at the bar. Fuck. That’s unfortunate. Fists it is, then. Ladies and gents. I give you Lieutenant Trevor Blake. A tall guy. Buzz cut. Grey eyes – to match his soul. Broad shoulders and slim waist; used to lift a lot. Intimidating. The kind of man you’re silent around. That instils fear and/or respect in people. Old Trev was a friend of my father’s. They served together. Were practically bros. When I enlisted - he was the guy to make sure I got kicked down. Not that I didn’t deserve it, but that fucker seemed to enjoy taking the crap out of me as much as my father had. Maybe he held me responsible for his death… Hell do I care. Shortly after I left the military to start my mercenary business, he got kicked out too. Unruly conduct with the soldiers, they said. Drunk at the job, too. Dealing with shit from the pasts. Screams of victims, gunshot echoes. He got what he deserved. If he wasn’t such a miserable fuck a veteran, I would have taken him out myself. For free. I thought he died. How wrong was I? After I signed up for Weapons-X he turned up like the fucking pest he is. Stryker must have pulled him clean out of AA, given him the green suit and patched the stars back on him. They probably share the same fascist mind set. I don’t want to talk to him long enough to find out. Our very last encounter had him trying to get me to pass out and giving me verbal hell at the same time – and I was mouthing off. It turned ugly. Let’s say he hit a nerve, I broke free from my restraints. Beat him raw and bloody. Got knocked out of course. Punished. I never saw him again. My guess is his pride took a hit for the worse… Or maybe I actually got him hospitalised. At least I made sure no one else would suffer him.

Trevor chuckled darkly as he appeared from the darkness, nothing more than a silhouette in front of him. A fucking ghost from his past. He hummed some of the tune to taunt him more before he spoke; “It was a cute song you homos shared back there.” Wade’s jaw clenched. “Yeah? Are you jealous Trev? Too bad I never was into the old abusive shits huh?” “And I never was into the scarred freaks. How you holdin’ up, boy?” The last word was condescending. It took all of Wade’s effort not to cringe, not to remember all those times he’d said it like that – with the physical upper hand. “Far better than you, lieutenant mc-drunk face.” Wade pulled out one of his knives. The streetlights betrayed him – and it glittered in the darkness. “I see your insults haven’t gotten any better.” Trevor pressed. “Tell me – what are you doing with that mutant, huh? If your father knew…” “How was it you worded it? Homo? Yeah. I’m totally gay for that guy.” Which wasn’t a lie. His chest swelled with love whenever he talked of Pietro, and he knew it stung the old man. “And my father is dead.” He added coldly, and flipped the knife before he sent it flying. Trevor was experienced, and despite his age he hadn’t slowed – so he was able to deflect it. Wade felt the knife belt. He had one more. Be careful now. “Thank god. To think of how he’d feel, knowing what you’ve become.” Trevor spat. “I don’t give a rats ass about either one of you. But hey, since you care so much about him – how about you join him?” Wade tried not to let the anger he felt colour his voice. “You’re gonna take me out, boy?” he laughed. Wade’s blood boiled. He drew a deep breath, to keep focus.

Several things happened at once, once he let go of that knife. He felt a jabbing pain to his neck. He heard Trevor grunt. Someone kicked him behind the knee and clawed at his shoulders. The next thing he knew, he was facing the smog of the city, groaning. His head was spinning. He tried to feel his neck, but someone stepped on his hand. He saw two, no… four? Eight? Figures standing over him. Hallucinating. They’ve drugged me. “That’s clever of you, but fucking weak. You know I’d take you out, old man.” Wade slurred, trying not to let whatever they have injected him with pull him under. “What do you want?” He actually feared that they’d lock him back up, torture him again - - - and keep him from Pietro. Wade attempted to trash, but it felt like he was under water. He just couldn’t move properly.

Trevor moved into view. He pulled the knife out from his side, groaning as he did so. “Amateur throw, boy. Missed my vitals.” Trevor turned the knife and jammed it into Wade’s heart with massive force, drawing an awful scream from his lips. “That’s what you want to aim for. Try to get some practise in, eh?” Trevor patted halfway slapped his cheek with bloody fingers, Wade desperately tried to turn his head away – but couldn’t. Trevor searched Wade’s pockets – found what he was looking for and sniffed as he straightened up, looming over him.

“That injection we gave you? It slows your healing for a while. Won’t stop it – but it’ll make you feel like hell for a little longer.” Trevor leered, before he whispered the last four words. “Ajax sends his regards,” Wade’s eyes widened. Fuck no – not those two together. He wanted to call Ajax out, say that he was a fucking chicken for not coming after him himself – but he never got the chance to. He saw the underside of Trevor’s boot, who stepped on his face, knocking him clean out.

Trevor tossed Wade’s cellphone over to one of his guys – getting him to unlock it. He went through his messages, not surprised to find Pietro on top of his texts. He took a photo of Wade, knocked out, with the broken jaw and nose – bleeding from the face, syringe standing out of his neck and oh – the knife in his heart, wrote “If you want him, come get him.” hit send and threw the phone on top of Wade.

“Let’s move out. The mutant freak might be here in no time.” Trevor instructed his guys – and they disappeared back into the shadows. They’d have time to leave because Trevor hadn’t revealed their location. And Wade? He was left bleeding, injured, drugged and alone – except forthe rats and cats that still lurked in the shadows. Trevor smirked as he saw the little figures moving up to the body.
