Hi, so I was rewatching Code Geass (I hope you know it? I assume you do, you seem to know everything) and it occured to me that Geass powers are very similar to PoE powers, so... what if instead of Apples there were Code Bearers (hopefully in some kind of stasis for a good portion of history)?
Because I would really like Eve to run around Renaissanse Italy (although she probably wouldn't mention just who she is before the Vault) and because Altair is absolutely the type to fully develop a Geass.
...yes, also because it would be funny if Desmond became immortal instead of dying.
I wanted to say that I don’t know everything, sometimes I check the wiki or tvtropes to help me get a grasp of the ask but, funnily enough, I do know Code Geass. Code Geass is one of the animes I watched when it first aired in Japan then rewatched the English dub to see how different it is (the English dub is so good, getting Johnny Yong Bosch as Lelouch was such a top-tier choice). I should note that I only watched the two seasons and I could sorta remember the dating sim game, I didn’t watch the movies or Akito the Exiled. Oh, and I can barely remember Nightmare of Nunnally manga even though I did read a few chapters of it XD
In other words, we’re focusing on what was revealed in R2 about Code Bearers for this one XD
Now, let’s change it a bit. The Code Bearers are the Isus’ greatest achievement. They were meant to be the shepherds of the Isus’ slaves.
But Minerva screwed that up, giving them a sense of ‘self’.
To be companions.
But it was because of their sense of self that they grew to like the company of humans more than their masters.
And they revolted, using the very power granted to them by the Isus to ‘bless’ specific humans that led the charge.
The Isu-human war was not even between the Isus and the humans but between the Isus and the Code Bearers, hiding in the shadows and using the humans as their puppets, granting power to those that would later be known as Geass users.
Minerva had been spared from a death sentence by the very Code Bearer she had given a sense of ‘self’ to.
Her daughter…
Eve.
The Isus were killed. Those who were left alive were exiled or imprisoned, left to die a slow death.
Then…
The humans revolted.
Against the Geass users and their Code Bearers.
Minerva does not know why.
Perhaps one of users or the bearers had used their power selfishly.
Perhaps it is simply the nature of being with enough intelligence such as Isus, humans, and Code Bearers to turn against what they believe to be controlling them.
Minerva had been too busy…
Creating the last Code Bearer.
Her son.
The one that shall gift the most powerful Geass of all.
The Geass to control the very fabric of time.
.
The Code Bearers have dwindled in sizes and they have grown to distrust one another, believing that one of them or one of the Geass users they have gifted with the power of the Geass had betrayed them which led to the ‘witch hunts’.
This is why the Code Bearers try their best to remain in seclusion and to not change the trajectory of humanity.
Until…
Eve found Minerva’s final resting place.
An underground laboratory, half-destroyed thanks to an earthquake.
And that’s when she learned of her ‘little brother’, Minerva’s final Code Bearer.
Desmond.
And Eve sets out to find him.
.
Unknown to him…
Desmond isn’t exactly the typical Code Bearer.
Because Minerva figured the best way to create a Code Bearer that will not fall victim to the corrupting influence of their immortality and power is to change a human into a Code Bearer.
A human that had willingly sacrificed his life to save the world before.
So Minerva tweaked the timeline and captured Desmond Miles’ consciousness a second before his death and transferred it to the Code Bearer body she had prepared.
Desmond has no idea what Code Bearers are. He does know what a Geass is, the Assassins and Templars have been searching for Geass users for centuries.
He also know…
That the man who gave Altaïr his Geass was a man that looked too similar to him to be a coincidence.
A man…
… who looked exactly like Desmond.
(That’s right, this is going to be a closed loop where the Code Bearer who gave Altaïr his Geass is actually Desmond himself, having been given a Code Bearer body. Considering it’s Altaïr, it’s highly possible that he would even upgrade from being a Geass user to being a Code Bearer but there has only been one human to have ever done that… Eve’s Geass user… Adam… who disappeared a few weeks before the witch hunts begins)

Byronic Hero Bracket Round Of 128 Batch A #12
Bruce Banner from Marvel vs. Suzaku from Code Geass
Tumblr media
Reasons under the cut (spoilers for both)
(All sources from TV Tropes)
Bruce Banner:
Bruce Banner (both the Edward Norton and Mark Ruffalo portrayals) has shades of this. He is a brilliant, non-confrontational scientist who is terrified of his own destructive potential, considering himself a monster because of the Hulk, though in reality, the Hulk is more of necessary darkness that Banner must one day accept as part of who he is.
Previously Beaten: Hachiman Hikigaya
Suzaku
Suzaku could also count. Brooding, uncompromising, self-destructive Death Seeker who seeks atonement for killing his father and causing Japan to be enslaved by Britannia. He tries sacrificing himself under the guise of chivalry to both Britannia and supposedly Japan as an excuse to fulfill his death wish but mostly serves to derail Lelouch's plans before they would otherwise bear maximum results. In season 2, he becomes even worse, descending into Knight Templar territory and conquering EU nations for Schneizel. He eventually joins Lelouch, but not before they're both broken beyond repair.
Previously Beaten: Arrow

Crest Emblem: Fire Crest
everyone keeps throwing around this word and each time it feels like it’s in a totally different context with a totally different meaning
like is the Crest inside me all along or what??? wait that’s Digimon nvm
the Crest system is a caste system because if you try to use An Ugly Weapon without a Crest...stone? Crest blood? Crest crest? Grimm goo will shoot out of it and turn you into a Grimm??? okay
Rhea’s Lawful side sure is coming on strong huh
Edelgard being--or at least thinking herself as--Chaotic Good is...interesting tbh, and not exactly what i expected
i suppose Lelouch was ALSO Chaotic but Lelouch was such a Byronic Chessmaster about everything whereas Edelgard is clearly...like there’s more going on here than waxing and waning between callous indifference and Templar overprotection when it comes to her peers/subjects
which i suppose you could attribute to Edelgard being Lelouch But Gender, and actually done halfway responsibly unlike some TV Sansa Starks i could mention
Edelgard is aware of the power of friendship, is what i’m saying--and not just in a “i can take advantage of other people believing it when i don’t” way
having the direct heir--not a disowned upstart like Lelouch--be such a visionary iconoclast is...
well. in one way i guess this is exactly what i expected, because what i expected and what felt confirmed as soon as i saw her silly alter ego getup was “not actually that much like Winter Schnee"
like they are both variants of the Chosen One trope with Gender but Winter already has a counterpart in Code Geass Lelouch ain’t it
Winter needs to believe that the world is greater than herself, Edelgard needs to believe she can be greater than the world--it’s the difference between a martyr complex and a god complex, which is not to say they don’t overlap, but like. one takes precedence over the other.
case in point: Edelgard is determined to make the deaths of her siblings and her own suffering mean something, and she has to be the one who decides what it means
tho i will say the scene where she talked to me and we danced some more around the fact that she was obviously planning some Ruining Tragedy gave me such fucking vertigo--like, here’s some white hair lady talking to her blue haired friend about how they live in a society, and that’s bad??? which May/Winter AU did i stumble into???
tho it’s. probably good that neither May nor Winter are Edelgard-types bc RWBY’s ethos is such that the closest thing to an Edelgard-type is. well.

First off, I want to make an formal apology to Ai. I am so sorry for calling you annoying when Yu-Gi-Oh! Vrains first started. I regret ever saying that so much right now. Secondly, Jesus Christ, how many times did you freaking get hit by that god damn puberty semi?! 0-0 That voice drop though. Like I figured it was going to happen but it is still shocking when you remember that his true form is a tiny gremlin that once in a while turns into a tentacle monster.
I also like to say this. During this whole episode, I was trying to figure out who Ai was reminding me of and it was driving me up a wall until it finally occurred to me that oh my god, they turned him into freaking Lelouch from Code Geass (the irony in that statement). For those that don’t know, Lelouch is my all time favorite anime character and somehow, in just one episode, Human!Ai just became my new favorite Vrains character. Please tell me this is going to be the whole tone of season 3 because if so this is going to be amazing.
Ai seriously was just the MVP of this episode. Seriously I love what they are doing with his character. He’s serious now and is almost like a season 1 Yusaku where he is being driven by revenge almost but at the same time he still has that wit and exaggeration about him that makes him the Ai we know and love from seasons 1 and 2.  For example, his whole archetype emphasize this. His Field Spell and Main Deck Monsters show his more playful side while his Extra Deck Monsters are the things that are going to kill you when you least expect it (kinda like Sora’s archetype from ARC-V). Even before his duel against Queen, you got to see more of his quirky side from his go big or go home attitude in the casino (which btw I feel like we missed out on a chance to see Ai and Roboppy go nuts in a casino (also was I the only one hearing Poker Face by Lady Gaga being played in the background or is that just me?) and when he actually made the battlefield a freaking stage. I feel like Human!Ai is what Zarc was like before he went mad because of how theatrical he is. And it is just fun, especially the dialogue between Ai and Roboppy.
I also like what they are doing with Roboppy as well this season. She/He (I don’t even know anymore after that one piece of dialogue (it is the whole Reira situation all over again) has their own free-will now officially as a side effect of Ai’s backup. They are like a curious child trying to figure out the world with Ai as the parent or as the big brother figure and it is just adorable. The banter and the shenanigans these two got into this episode really does feel like two siblings playing off each other. Like Ai took their younger sibling to the freaking casino while Roboppy keeps Ai’s ego in check now in Yusaku’s place (the best example was seen when Ai was just going over the top with his Link Summon chants and Roboppy had to get him to stop). It is heartwarming that even after all that Ai has lost, he still has someone like Roboppy to be there for him as a fellow A.I. with free-will and has someone there to really keep him from really going off the deep end.
That being said, Human!Ai is still terrifying. Even with him keeping a good amount of his personality, I like how they can still make him threatening. He still has his Ignis powers in human form, meaning he can hack just about anything, but he is also a good duelist (no surprise there since he was based on Yusaku and has been there with him all this time to learn even more from him.) Not only does he have Link Summon but also Synchro and Xyz and I like how they are doing his Extra Deck with his Extra Deck Monsters being based on one of the Ignis/Attribute and a different form of Summoning. Dark Templar @Ignister is Ai/Dark (Link), Wind Pegasus @Ignister is Windy/Wind (Synchro), and Light Dragon @Ignister being Lightning/Light (Xyz). We are just missing Flame (Fire), Aqua (Water), and Earth (Earth) which should collate with Ritual, Fusion and even Pendulum from the looks of things (unless we are going with a Tribute route but honestly Pendulum makes more sense). They are also making Ai threatening by how they are deciding to do duels this season from the looks of things. Link Vrains seems to have been shut down after the battle against Bohman so Ai is literally mind f*cking people and dueling them inside their heads. Guess we know how Playmaker and Ai are dueling in space now. We know Queen lost but we haven’t seen her actual condition from the lose. We know she isn’t in good shape but who knows if the lose actually fries your brain or just puts you into a coma like usual. That could just be for Queen though since we know Ai was trying to get revenge for Earth so lets say if Playmaker loses to Ai when they eventually duel, I don’t think Ai will intentionally try and give him brain damage.
So some other things to note in this episode. Queen is a cheating bitch (I do like the nice throw back with her using the Allure Queen archetype (also freaking Drowning Mirror Force was great) but I seriously am so tried of people using Skills during Master Duels. Akira has been promoted to Executive Director of SOL and is probably the big boss of SOL now that Queen is out of commission (btw did they just completely forget about the other Chess Pieces or something?). Oh and because of that little cheating that Lightning did to keep him from not technically losing to Revolver during their duel by using some of Jin’s consciousness data and turning it into a Life Point, Jin now has forgotten some of if not all of the Hanoi Project (oh that’s convenient) and is getting even better because of it. I don’t know how to feel about this but hey if that means Jin can finally do something as his own person, I’m all for it. All we need now is to know what’s up with Windy’s Origin and maybe then we can finally get some action with our final three Lost Children (since we know Miyu is currently in recovery).
And some last things to note about Ai is that it is interesting how in his own words he chose to take a human form as a way to “throw away his past self” yet he still calls himself “Ai”, same with Roboppy keeping their name. My guess is that they still want to feel connected to Yusaku in a way (oh their reunion is going to be amazing). Ai is also using an old fashion duel disk as well, one with a blade just like Yusaku and Takeru’s. Guess old habits truly die hard. Ai and Roboppy are indeed using SOL androids for their human forms in the real world but seemed to have also changed their forms (well in Ai’s case) to their human ones in the network as well. We still don’t know exactly what he’s planning but he indeed is going to try and use SOL to complete his goal (I swear, if he says anything about files, I’m going to freak). Oh and Ai took back his pet (Linkuriboh) from Yusaku and made it not as friendly.
But yeah, over all, an amazing freaking episode. Season 3 really is just starting out with bang and I very much hope it can continue like this. As for the preview, I guess Akira is taking Ai’s warning very seriously and is getting the whole gang together to become his bodyguards, even freaking Kusanagi is there. It looks like they are still on the ship but everyone is in their Link Vrains’ forms. Looks like Akira might have set something up to keep everyone’s identities a secret (I’m interested to see how that works in combination with Ai’s mind tricks). The only ones that look to be missing are Revolver and Spectre (which is kinda understandable since they’re still technically cyber-terrorists) but we know they going to be apart of this, Revolver mostly though since his point has kinda been proven once he hears about this from his mole. It looks like Yusaku is conflicted about the whole thing, as he should be, and it looks like he might need some time to decide on what he needs to do or some time to try and talk Ai out of whatever it is he’s trying to do. We see Yusaku sitting at Stardust Road, the place where he and Ai said goodbye to each other at the end of season 1, so we might get a flashback to that moment as Yusaku monologues to himself. I’m kinda expecting Ryoken to show up as well, since you know this is his place after all, and I’m curious to know what kind of dialogue we could get from those two about this whole situation if that does happen. Maybe discuss some grief counseling for your child? Clearly he needs some. Then again, it is not like you two have done much better.

The Byronic Hero Bracket: Qualifying Round Batch B #8
Arrow from Wolf Song: The Movie vs. Suzaku from Code Geass
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reasons under the cut (spoilers for both)
(All sources from TV Tropes)
Arrow:
Arrow in Wolf Song: The Movie counts as one. He is dark (both emotionally and in fur colour), introverted and plagued by his own childhood trauma, being a very literal lone wolf. He does soften up somewhat midway through and he does actually care for others, namely his younger sister Yasmine and later on his love interest Kara. However this film does also include a partial deconstruction of this trope as he ultimately battles the one who had been the source of his own grief and dies horribly in the process
Suzaku:

Behold, My Waste of Decent Writing -- Connected to the WIP with Marianne, Charles, & Lelouch
Prologue: An Emperor Ascends
At this very moment, every single instance in Ashley’s life meant nothing to him, save for this grandiose accomplishment of ending a tyrant’s reign. He was going to do it under everyone’s noses, and neither guards nor members of a dastardly Templar Order would be enough to stop him. True, no one knew where the new Emperor’s allegiances laid, but it was clear as day. Britannia’s unprecedented territorial growth and successful conquest couldn’t be owed to intelligence, charisma, and skill in warfare alone.
Charles zi Britannia had the backing of a dangerously omnipotent secret society behind him -- one forged and built millennia ago. An Order whose ideals crushed freedom and liberty. An Order made for control and to serve the strong.
The Assassin Council at Française were doubtful of this, on account of not having enough evidence, but that was bullshit. Only men so steeped in denial would ever disregard the Britannian emperor’s obvious involvement.
He’d show them...
He would drive this hidden blade up the Emperor’s naked throat and take the evidence of allegiance on his person.
Finding a way into this gaudy party was easy (nothing a high-quality counterfeit invitation couldn’t fix). The more challenging part was waiting for the Emperor’s entrance and getting close enough to him to strike the killing blow. It was a given that he’d be well-guarded. Schooling his expression into careful neutrality, Ashley Ashra exhaled through his nose and plastered an easy-going smile onto his face. Strutting into the crowd of courtiers, he flashed each lady a smile and shook gentlemen’s hands, all the while keeping a vigilant eye on who came and in and who had to step out.
He put too much work into violating the Assassin Council’s advice to squander this opportunity for revenge and justice.
Because in spite of how hard he tried to forget, Ashley had never been capable of completely banishing the image of his Mentor bleeding out on the icy ground -- blood streaming from the corner of his lips as he succumbed to his injuries. And he and Prince Mathieu could do nothing but stand idly by and wait for his passing to come. He’d lost his chance at taking Charles & his brother, Victor’s, lives in the frigid landscape of the far North, but he could do it here and now. His mentor gave his life to locating that cache of unbridled power. At the very least, Ashley believed he owed Bradow von Breisgau this.
Charles’ allegiance (well, supposed allegiance, if you believed the Assassin Council) was just the perfect justification. Personally, Ashley didn’t see this as revenge for a friend and a respected Mentor. It was doing the world a favor by ridding it of people like Charles. And perhaps, if he was even luckier, maybe he could tease the location of that accursed artifact before the Emperor took his last breath.
“Presenting, his Imperial Majesty and his Royal Highness!”
The smug smirk plastered across his face continued to grow. At the far end of the grandiose room, the double doors swung wide open, welcoming the Emperor of Britannia clothed in royal purple and blue. His brother, Victor zi Britannia, strolled along beside him in similar colors. Surrounded by their entourage of knights, the brothers stopped close to the center of the room where every guest in attendance dropped to their knees in reverence.
Well, that wasn’t so hard now, was it?
Lady Luck was ever at his side; oh so generously presenting him with the sight of his quarry -- all ripe for the taking.
=OoOoO=
[in chapter 1, Mathieu calls out Ashley for irrationally ending Emperor Charles’ life as Ashley disputes Mathieu’s decision to marry his daughter off to the new britannia emperor
“Just because you ended the life of one man, what makes you think you’ve accomplished something? If you are so set on having your revenge, parading it around as justice, you should have wiped out his entire family.”
“Thank me at least.”
“for what?”
“If I didn’t do away with Charles, you wouldn’t have been able to whore your daughter out to the very people we’ve worked so hard to fight and suppress.”]
-------------------------
Some Weird Context:
The 'daughter' referred to in the barely written text is C.C... Duchess C.C. (Ceiana Caersewiella -- her made-up name) of the Principality of Française. Her father, intends to marry her off to the new Emperor of Britannia.
Guess who? This guy XD
Tumblr media
This AU was supposed to feature a whole host of Akito characters (as seen here, Ashley Ashura) and the main cast as well. Of course Re;surrection characters are also there xD But look what became of it. TT_TT
