We’re going to vote on that (via community poll) closer to that event, so Leliana has as fair a shot as anyone for the Sunburst Throne (and can also opt-out if her roleplayer prefers - it’s kind of exciting not knowing who it will be). Possible OC Affiliation: There are lots of former associates, friends, and rivals that could pop up including those she knew during her time in the Chantry and those she rubbed shoulders with in Orlais during her stint as "Nightingale of the Imperial Court". The thing is... I don't think I even want to see Dragon Age 4. Especially not now that they have sacked the main writers or that they have left on their own accord, which isn't a good sign either.

It will probably look good. But I don't believe it will have any soul left.

I want to be wrong. But I don't think I will be.

They never managed to do as good as Origins (it had its faults but it remains the best of the franchise : the storylines, the characters, the worldbuilding, the immersion, the dialogue choices, the RP...).

Baldur's Gate 3 did though. And they aren't fron EA.

I love DA2, the characters, the main storylines, but it was unfinished.

DA:I was already soulless, I liked some of the companions (Dorian mainly. Even Varric was less interesting there) but got attached to none. They felt like colleagues, not a close knitted team.

The Inquisitor themselves were blank where Hawke and the Warden had a background that mattered, one you could build your RP on.

The main quest itself didn't feel like much. Tears in the Veil and demons (the Warden beated them close, Hawke dealt with demons on daily basis). It sounds huge, but it didn't felt like it, only a minor inconviences, tasks to complete to get points for.. for what anyway ? There was no apprehension during the quests (except the Fade, the only one where your choice had consequences) and when the final fight came it ended so easily and quickly.

Too many things were reckoned in DA:I and some I cannot forgive (Redcliff's topography, the dalish not caring for their mages, their whole pantheon being 1) not gods 2) bad slavers, while the Maker is still good and divine ofc, the whole "templars are bad actually" narrative after all we've seen in DAO and especially DA2, Leliana character development from DAO, etc. Actually, pretty much every choices from DAO, major and minor, didn't matter here at all, which is a huge flaw for a RPG saga).

The one quest I really enjoyed was the Jaws of Hakkon DLC. A DLC.

Sure the maps were pretty but too big and empty, as I said, soulless.

And the combat looked pretty too but it was messy, we couldn't even use all the abilities we unlocked because it was badly tailored for consoles, not PC. And there was no healer or blood mage class. DA2 fights had the non-stop spawning and yet they were more satisfying imo.

Seeing EA's track record and the mess development of DA4 was, I just expected it to give the final blow to Thedas and butcher once and for all this franchise that I loved thanks to DAO and DA2.

Just do it properly or don't do it.

“I’m sorry if I… *complicated* things with your traveling companions.” He isn’t sorry. He would brand himself on Rodaine if he could.

“Leliana… that’s the lady with the red hair, yes?” He is a little alarmed that she may have raided his trunk. “All of your… companions seem quite formidable. I’m afraid if we come across anything I won’t be nearly as helpful.” And he’s only a little bitter about it. Rodaine likes competence, values it. Has always held disdain for those who whine and complain their way through life and its problems. And here he was with a whole crowd of people that all seemed very competent and put together and intimidating and, honestly, rather attractive. And Gideon was still where he’d always been. How could he compare? He could hardly light a fire.

When they get to his bed, he hesitates for a moment. He doesn’t want to let go of Rodaine. It feels like letting go of a life raft. But he flexes his hand and does it and the chasm is back and yawning ever wider. The blue in Gideons robes clashing next to the blue of the warden armor that fit Rodaine like he was always meant to wear it.

Rodaine is holding him and he’s holding him back.

WELL! That's a tough question when there are so many nice beautiful people out there. Joel Kinnamen is one, Kate Winslet, The lady drummer from Skillet, Henry Cavill, Claire Foy... i'll likely think about ten more after I post this. It's just - a list of pretty people.

Chicken alfredo, but there's a way that I make it that involves Top Ramen noodles and it is the fucking BOMB dot com. There's also frybread with beef stew, frybread and menudo, and cowtongue soup with hominy.

14. How long have you been roleplaying?

ON tumblr??? I started in 2016 writing Cersei Lannister. In general? I used to rp ages ago on other platforms as Lucrecia Cresecent from FF7 Dirge of Cerberus. (for a few weeks) and after Cersei via Tumblr I rp'd Dolores Abernathy of Westworld, Leliana of Dragon Age, and ultimately made a Multimuse where I also wrote Wanahton of Westworld among other muses.

little story brainworm. not inherently explicit buuuut well. typical dragon age heavy stuff + at this point in the canon timeline, cullen would be just past 18, and el would be just under 18, and that is the kind of thing i'd get called out for. anyway.

so i'm writing an rp with a friend where her tabris is meeting my lavellan, it has been really awesome, and their differing perspectives on cullen and leliana are neat to discuss. between talking about kinloch and everything, i had the thought "damn, what would el have been like if they ended up in a circle?"

so, au where el is not chosen for first, and. i'm not going to say their clan abandoned them because that seems like some wack rectonning that piles more shit on the dalish, but somehow, el is found by templars and taken to the ferelden circle.

they're a couple years younger than cullen so i'm thinking like 16yo el, and 19yo cullen meeting. cullen is still deeply entrenched in the ways of the order and the chantry, while el is already a firebrand and old enough that they cannot stand for being imprisoned like this. they even have their vallaslin already (quite recent, yes, around 16th name day probably, but they have it). so el is the most troublesome new apprentice the tower has seen since that anders boy. who might be currently in isolation. i don't know.

el would be violent. el would be spitting profanity. el would set the place on fire. el's probably going to end up severely punished and drugged with magebane lol and i'm thinking about cullen being assigned to watching them, and the longer they spend in each other's presence, the more cullen starts to understand that el already knows exactly how to control their magic, that they aren't a threat unless threatened, that being kept here is torture for them, that this isn't fair or necessary and the punishments they're given are harsh, all because they won't back down and shy away from the templars like the other apprentices have learned to. el will never stop scowling and hissing and bearing their teeth.

so maybe cullen lets them escape. maybe cullen has his crisis of faith right then and there before kirkwall is even on the horizon and they run together. to add more reason for this to be on my nsfw blog, the sex they'd have at this point in the timeline would be nasty (affectionate). dunno. not sure i'll end up writing this even though its a very fun setup.

So after Soldier's Peak and some gossip in Denerim we're going to Redcliffe!

Redcliffe village is very...

Teagan is not making a great impression after Greagoir. Yeah he's in the Chantry to protect the people there, but also he's in the Chantry, you know. The Chantry that must be defended from the outside. That Chantry.

But okay, Daphnis is not going to argue the point, whatever.

Helping around Redcliffe is also very... the mayor comes off as a misogynistic ass and all around unpleasant. The dude whose daughter might be dead makes the first "you didn't sound like an elf" remark, but you know, he thinks his daughter might be dead and he's drunk off his ass, so at least he's got an excuse. The other one or two people who comment about Daphnis being an elf don't have that excuse.

Is it surprising that given the xenophobic atmosphere of the village the dwarf trader has locked himself up and doesn't want to participate? Who could have seen it coming. Daphnis is shocked. ...but there are still villagers to be defended, so she convinces him to help defend the village. She'll put in a good word for him with the Bann. Or something.

She wishes she could do something for that Berwick dude in the tavern (the most mind-boggling placement for a tavern, too), because yeaaaaaah Redcliffe! The guy is so scared! And he didn't do anything wrong!! (Also, was he hitting on Zevran there, or on her, or on both, was he hitting on both of them, was that what was happening)

Ser Perth is refreshingly polite and pleasant for Redcliffe.

Zevran takes the opportunity of his first banter with Leliana to ask her about companionship when she was in the cloister. Priorities. (Look, Zevran thinks everyone in this team is very attractive, and he has not only two hands but also a lot of imagination about how to use things that aren't his hands.) Leliana... isn't flirting. Yet. Daphnis is walking in front of them and listening and also her cheeks are warm. giggle giggle, I think.

We don't get the stupid helmet for saving everyone despite restarting the combat once, because one of the stupid militiamen died like an idiot, and I spent the entire second part of the fight annoyed as fuck and being even more annoyed that I was still making an effort to keep everyone else alive for RP reason. The dude didn't even have a name! Teagan was all "we suffered enormous losses" and no dude, we didn't, we lost ONE guy whose name no-one can tell me, I hate all of you.

Then we meet up Teagan at the mill, and he's about to show us a secret passage to enter the castle when his SIL Isolde shows up. She's distraught and the story she tells seems super patchy, but what catches Daphnis' attention is: back up why didn't she use the secret passage.

Teagan, does your brother's wife not know about the existence of the secret passage? did you guys not tell her about it?

It's also possible she knows and chose not to take the passage on purpose, because she doesn't want to attract the attention of whoever allowed her to leave the castle to it. In case it's needed later. That's possible too, in which case it's good thinking from her.

In Daphnis' opinion, it's okay if Teagan is going into an obvious trap and risking his life, because he spent the night safely inside a chantry while others were risking their life. His turn now! /Greagoir-shaped bias

Cullen Rutherford Templar. Present in all timelines. He's more than just his glow up in DA:I. We'd love to see a player start from the beginning of his story and really flesh him out, perhaps even including his time in Greenfell prior to his transfer to Kirkwall and later perhaps his actual recruitment into the Inquisition?

Leliana Rogue. Present in all timelines. We'd love to have her from the beginning as well, and it would be interesting to also see her time in-between DA:O and DA:I fleshed out more; especially her role as "Left Hand" of the Divine working alongside the Divine's "Right Hand", Cassandra Pentaghast.

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I for one love how romance works in DA:O vs DA2 and DA:I. Sure, it can get weird when companions assume you hit on them when you're just being nice... but like, isn't this how irl is sometimes???? ppl misreading your signals, ppl developing one-sided crushes, funny drama, etc... I dunno. Reading Rodaine's posts about Leli and Morrigan just makes me genuienly chuckle cuz it's lowkey hilarious in a good way

I actually agree! Origins has always been my favorite in terms of rp options and relationships.

I am deeply amused by Rodaine's whole situation with Leliana and Morrigan, especially because I generally play him as confident almost to the point of arrogant (ex: he dunked on Jory super hard when they were in the wilds and he was being all whiny) but then when faced with an interpersonal issue between people he genuinely likes (especially if it is a romantic issue given his general lack of experience in that arena) he has no idea how to navigate it. It's little things like Leliana yelling at him out of nowhere that make fun on-the-spot characterization moments that I didn't even consider, and not only is it hilarious, but it's fascinating to see how the character reacts to it.

You know how you can tell DAO is old? Oghren

It’s not that he is a drinker, which is handled rather poorly but that he is a giant fucking perv. And It’s literally so bad that I refuse to speak with him at camp any more because every time I try to speak with him it ends with him saying something gross to my character.

As a lesbian, who is also rp as a lesbian character , trying to speak with Oghren about how his wife had a woman as her lover and how she left him but brought her into the Deep Roads (ignoring how that all ended and how it sucks that it reminds as one of the few DA canon f/f ships) only to be met with gross sexual comments fucking sucks.

And you can tell DAO is old because that trope, of the pure and utter lech who doesn’t stop, isn’t a thing anymore. I can’t even imagine him being in DAI as anything other than a side character who is a joke. And despite how I don’t love how much they watered parts of Thedas down in DAI, the fact that I don’t have to deal with such gross comments about my character or my relationship (at least one you romance Leliana as a woman idk if it happens all the time) is great.
