Sims 4 Legacy Tracker - Obsidian Notes
I woke up and decided I wanted to make the perfect tracker for a TS4 Legacy Challenge (or at least, perfect for me). Everything is set up and theoretically updated for For Rent and Crystal Creations. Please let me know if there's any errors!
Features:
Sim template with space for general information, traits, skills, aspirations, education/career and images.
Easy to use and customise (with a link to Obsidian's help centre for people new to Obsidian or Markdown).
Ability to link notes (such as Sims) together similarly to Notion.
Copy of the rules and a checklist for the Scoring categories.
Easy family trees using Obsidian's Canvas feature.
Examples beneath the cut of how it looks!
Download via Google Drive.
To use the Obsidian vault, extract the "Sims 4, Legacy Tracker" to somewhere easily located. You can rename it freely.
DO NOT remove the subfolders/files from that folder.
Open Obsidian and from the Vault screen, select "Open Folder as vault"
Open the "Sims 4, Legacy Tracker" folder.
Done!
Left: No customisation, exactly how the vault comes. Right: Using the Tokyo Night theme + Task Progress Bars community plugin + new font + tweaks to how the "family tree" canvas looks.

Legacy scoresheet update
Hi there!
I've added the stuff coming with the Infant update and the Growing together pack.
I'm sure I've missed a few things, so please let me know if you spot anything missing.
I'm going to start working on an upgreaded version of the sheet and / or one that will allow you to track your gameplay without the legacy requirements.
I'm not sure how long that will take though, so please be patient and let me know if there is anything you'd like to see in it.
Have fun simming!

Updated Legacy Challenge Tracker
I recently started a Legacy Challenge for the first time and was OVERWHELMED by the points system, so naturally I looked for a way to keep track of everything and came across various Excel spreadsheets. Rakshasims spreadsheet was near perfect, but they have recently stepped away from updating it and it was missing some packs (which meant traits and things weren't added), so I updated it with the new packs as well as some of the mods that I play with that affect the Legacy gameplay (more traits, aspirations, etc). I also added a Rags To Riches start checklist. I figured other people might like an updated version of the sheet, so I asked Rakshasims if they were happy with me sharing the updated version (and keeping the spreadsheet updated moving forwards) and they are, so here we are.
I've added the new spreadsheet to my Google Drive folder for people to download. Please remember to download the spreadsheet BEFORE editing it!
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1iGDlw4sFvuHwGdfMftsLNaVhiPRaeCAq?usp=drive_link
If you have any questions about the spreadsheet, or any suggestions for this or future trackers, etc, my inbox is open!

Jonquilyst’s One Life Challenge
Here it is; the basis of my new planned gameplay: the One Life Challenge, which is a challenge I created myself!
The basis of the challenge is to a play a single sim, from birth until death, and try to achieve goals and live a well-accomplished life
I wanted to invent a challenge that wasn’t as long as a legacy but still has family-like attributes to it, since your sim will be born into a family and as they get older they might have a family of their own someday (think of it as a mini-legacy where your sim is the “heir” for their entire life)
There might be something like this out there already, so if that’s the case I’ll call this my own version 💜
This post will serve as the pretext of my gameplay. Rules and details are listed below the cut so you’ll know what’s going on (and if you wanna try this challenge for yourself)
(Updated on 10/22/23 for Horse Ranch EP)
Challenge Goal
The goal of this challenge is to live a well-accomplished life. This will be measured by points. Reward traits, mastering skills, completing aspirations, completing collections, and maxing out careers all count toward points. You will be trying to get as many points as possible. The more, the better!
When your sim ages up to a young adult, you will select a core aspiration for them. This aspiration represents what they want to achieve most in life and will offer the most points when completed (all other aspirations award points but not as much as the core aspiration)
While this challenge lasts from birth until whenever your sim dies, it should ideally last until your sim dies of old age. A point penalty will be added if your sim does not die of old age (meanwhile if you die of old age you will get a large point bonus as a reward), so try not to let your sim die!
Rules
- You can only control your designated Sim. This will be harder during childhood when your Sim is not as independent, but try to control your designated sim as much as possible
- You may use cheats/mods to achieve the living conditions your sim is born into, but otherwise no cheats are allowed (cheats to fix something are an exception).
- Since you can’t control what conditions you’re born into, you must roll a dice/use a random number generator to determine what your sim and their family will be like. Your sim’s name and appearance, however, may be whatever you like.
- You may not restart after a bad event
- Every time your sim ages up, you must randomize their new trait. This will be the basis of your sim’s personality and will be used to decide your core aspiration when you age up into a young adult
 Scoresheet
-  Complete your core aspiration (+5)
-  Complete any other aspiration (child/teen aspirations or other aspirations after the core aspiration is completed) (+2)
-  Master a skill (+1)
- Die of Old Age (+5)
- Any other death (-5)
- Earn a positive core value reward trait (+1)
- Earn a negative core value reward trait (-1)
- Earn the “Happy Infant” reward trait (+1)
- Earn the “Happy Toddler” reward trait (+1)
- Earn the “Top Notch Infant” reward trait (+2)
- Earn the “Top Notch Toddler” reward trait (+2)
- Earn the “Unhappy infant” reward trait (-1)
- Reach Level 10 in your career (+5)
- Earn a raise (applies to freelance careers and regular careers after reaching lvl 10) (+1)
- Complete a collection (+2)

 Parent(s) Age (1-15):
1-10: Parent(s) are YA

13-15: Parent(s) are Adults
World (1-18) **Reroll if you do not have the world
1: Willow Creek
2: Oasis Springs
3: Newcrest
4: Windenburg
5: San Myshuno
6: Brindleton Bay
7: Del Sol Valley
8: Sulani
9: Strangerville
10: Britechester
11: Evergreen Harbor
12: Mt. Komorebi

15: Moonwood Mill
16: Copperdale
17: San Sequoia
18: Chestnut Ridge
 Family Wealth (1-15):
1-5: Your family is considered lower-class. Total Household funds less than 50,000 simoleons (Randomize using number generator, the lower limit shall be 0 simoleons)
6-10: Your family is considered middle-class. Total household funds between 50,000 and 100,000 simoleons (Randomize using number generator)
11-15: Your family is considered higher-class/wealthy. Total household funds greater than 100,000 simoleons (Randomize using number generator, the upper limit shall be 500,000 simoleons)
 Adoption Status (1-10):
1-8: You are the biological child of your parent(s)
9-10: You are the adoptive child of your parent(s)
Twins/Triplets Status (1-20): **Note, if you are adopted, any twin/triplet siblings will also be adopted (i.e you will be biologically related to them)
1-17: You are a singleton
18-19: You are a twin
20: You are a triplet
Older siblings (1-15): **Note: your family may still choose to have more children after your sim. This roll is independent from whether you are born in a set of twins or triplets. For the sake of simplicity, you may decide the age of the siblings and whether or not any of them are half-siblings, adopted, etc.
1-5: No older siblings. You are your parent(s)’ first child.
6-10: 1 older sibling. You are your parent(s)’ second child.
11-15: 2 older siblings. You are your parent(s)’ third child.
Pets (1-32): **Cats, dogs, and horses; this doesn’t include the livestock that comes with Cottage Living or the goats and sheep that come with Horse Ranch. For simplicity and so everything makes sense (because I don’t think a horse could live in an apartment in San Myshuno), you may choose what kind of pets your family has
1-16: No pets
17-26: 1 pet
27-32: 2 pets

TL:DR I’m working on a shiny new trait generation system
New and hopefully innovative... maybe it’s not, but I can’t seem to find anything like it yet? (please let me know if there is!)
When I was messing around with my legacy scoresheet and adding a bunch of fields to track my sims’ traits, aspirations, careers... I realized I wanted to be able to do more with it. I realized I wanted to be able to use that data- ALL of that data- to decide what traits and aspirations new sims in the family would have.
I’ve been using the Random Trait Generator on Pinstar’s Legacy Challenge site ever since I’ve been playing legacy challenges, and I think it’s great that it takes into account parental traits- and I can’t find anything about how it actually generates the child traits, like what the probabilities are or anything, so I don’t know for sure how it works.
But I realized making my spreadsheet just how much info I have on these sims, and how much data could be taken into account that would make the storytelling so much more immersive and interesting.
I figured out quickly that this was something that would only be solvable with programming. Luckily, my dad is a software engineer, and I’ve been interested in learning about programming for a while (just never had a good enough reason or project to get into it until now). So I brought my silly Sims idea to my dad, hoping he could point me in any sort of direction. Turns out he definitely could- he understood what I was trying to do, and came up with the tools I’d need to learn and use to get started.
So, this is what I’m working on now! I’m writing it in javascript (using node.js), using sequelize to build an object model (for sims and their relationships to other sims, and relationships to traits/aspirations/skills/etc). I followed a tutorial for Node.js Rest APIs to learn how to set up an app that would work with a mysql database (I’m using MariaDB), but now I’m focusing on the object model (the API stopped working once I added a bunch of models, the tutorial only had one model with no relationships to other models, lol. but that’s not important for now).
Ideally, I want my end result to be something where I can input data about parent sims to generate the child’s trait on toddler-child age-up; update parent traits and then generate teen trait and aspiration on child-teen age-up; and update parent traits and then generate YA trait on teen-YA age-up. When that sim (Sim A) has a child, it would have to use Sim A’s data, their partner’s data, and to a lesser degree Sim A’s parents’ data (which would have to be updated if it had changed since Sim A became a young adult) to generate that child’s traits.
Eventually, I think it’d be cool to have it as a web application where you could enter and save your sims’ data, since it’d become A LOT to manually enter very very quickly (unless I can figure out a way to get that info from some kind of source files in the game...)
Other than maaaaybe far in the future making it a desktop application where it would pull files from the game (if they exist, if it’s even possible) I don’t think this would even fall into the mod category. More like, a Sims accompaniment??
If this sounds cool please tell me if it doesn’t please don’t tell me because I am a sensitive person Once I learn how github actually works and I have more to show for it I’ll probably put stuff there publicly (it’s already there privately but that’s so I can collab with my dad haha)
And please if you have suggestions or ideas or have heard of similar ideas let me know. I don’t want anyone to think I’m full of myself or that I think I have the most creative ideas or something.
Oh, and as I kind of mentioned, I am VERY new to programming, as in, started a couple weeks ago, so like, I might explain stuff badly or make dumb mistakes and I am not at all claiming to know what I’m doing!

lucy donovan is our legacy challenge founder, but perhaps it is more accurate to just call her the founder. dumped into an unpopulated world, lucy and a few select others have a very important job: they need to figure out if this planet is inhabitable. are there edible life forms? can one grow their own food? is it possible to raise a family here?
most importantly: could this be Simanity’s new home? her family line has ten generations to figure it out- past that, it will be too late. join lucy as she documents her journey as the founder- and as Simanity’s only hope.

Legacy Challenge
Since it’s taking me forever to get everything set up for the story I decided to start a Legacy Challenge. It’ll give me content to post plus it’s a good break from all the cc searching and organizing. Instead of explaining the challenge I’ll post the links down below if you’re interest in the rules. I will be using Hilliee’s scoresheet and generator. I’ve already started and my first child is already a teenager! So I can set up a pretty big queue! My heir criteria are equality (either gender), strict traditional (must be born genetically from parents and be able to trace back bloodline to the founder) and Xenophobic (must be a mermaid like the founder). Ya’ll know how I love follower participation so the last rule I made is democracy, which means that at the end of the generation you guys vote who you want to take over as heir!

There’s been some revamping around here.
I started a legacy challenge in my spare time - mainly me whittling away the days with the lovely Freyja on a long lifespan.
Official legacy challenge rules here. I also use Hilliee’s scoresheet because it’s terrifyingly detailed. Neither are updated for university but hey, we all have lives.
We’re starting with an extreme start (GT & Seasons) on the first day of Winter on the 64x64 lot in Windenberg with §0.
I’m not obsessed with getting all the points, but I think we’ll putter around and see how we go.

Welcome to the start of the Urie family Legacy challenge!
It’s going to be hard, but Vera is determined to make it happen. And Baxter... well, he’s there for company.
You can read everything about the Legacy challenge here. There are many rules, but to explain it quickly, you start with only one Sim, a big empty lot and almost no money, and your challenge is to make your way to the top until your family reaches the 10th generation.
I’m using Nerdy Bunny’s printable scoresheet to keep track of everything, and I love it. You can find it here, if you want to follow my steps!
And of course, follow this Tumblr if you want to be updated about Vera’s life struggle. See you soon!

This is the final Olympics for figure-skating legends Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. And while they leave behind a legacy of multiple podium finishes, they would rather best be remembered ‘for being good people’
There is no simple summing up of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir.
They have long been more than their medals, their scores, their signature lifts. Over two decades they became Canada’s longestlasting ice dance couple — and the most decorated.
And then they complicated matters by basically remaking themselves for this comeback; injecting ice dance with an evermore obvious athleticism that acts as a powerful complement to the discipline’s artsyfartsy side. And they took what they learned about showmanship while on tour during their post-Sochi hiatus and blended that into their programs.
“I would say they’re probably one of the most innovative teams that has been in dance in a long time, you know,” said Skate Canada high performance director Mike Slipchuk. “They weren’t doing the same lifts every year. They were working on a unique move. That’s them pushing the dance envelope and pushing themselves.
“They’ve done so many different styles of programs,” he continued. “Everything from the classical free dance to Pink Floyd. To Gene Kelly. To Carmen. That is what’s special about them. They can go out and try different genres and really bring them to life and not a lot of athletes can do that in any discipline.
“If you look at their stamp on skating, the results speak for themselves. But everyone will have a favourite program of theirs and a lot of different ones. That’s a testament to what they’ve done.”
The results sheets speak of gold at the Vancouver Olympics, silver in Sochi, three world titles, a Grand Prix final win, eight national titles. The results are loud and clear. Virtue and Moir are much less boisterous, particularly on the topic of their sporting legacy. They aren’t overly focused on it either, even this close to what should be their final Olympics.
“I don’t know about our mark on figure skating. Maybe I will when I’m an old and wise man,” said Moir, who is plenty savvy at age 30.
“It’s so hard to size up your own career. That’s already a bigger compliment than I would give ourselves,” he said, when it was suggested they changed their discipline for the better.
“But we always say we’d like to be remembered for being good people more than anything. Hopefully, people think we’re pretty good ice dancers, but more importantly, good people. We were pretty lucky to be Canadians coming up in a good sport system and having the opportunities that we had. We believe in what sport has to offer.
“And maybe that we encouraged a couple of young athletes to take up any sport, to do something that was maybe a little unusual, to follow their passion. That would be the two biggest things it would be nice to be remembered for.”
That’s pretty typical modesty from these two, and it’s genuine. They back it up at every competition. Despite their lengthy tenure at the top, there is no swagger, unless the program calls for it on the ice.
And they didn’t come back from retirement two years ago to cement their legacy.
Of course they want to win in Pyeongchang, but not because they finished second in Sochi to their American friends and former training partners Meryl Davis and Charlie White. They missed the sport, the competition, the personal challenge.
So they moved their training base from Michigan to Montreal, assembled a support team headed by former Canadian ice dancers Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon, and challenged one another to be better.
“We were so happy to get back to that structure of a training schedule and thrilled to be pursuing these goals we are investing in, the common goals that we share,” said Virtue, who is 28. “I think it’s more about the personal feeling we get when we’re able to perform a program the way we’ve envisioned it or all that training pays off and we’re able to execute something on competitive ice. I mean, that’s what feeds us.”
They have worked with Cirque du Soleil acrobats, seeking to put a signature twist on mounts and lifts. Virtue and Moir fans will surely remember “The Goose” from Vancouver. She balanced herself on one foot, on his right thigh. This year they have incorporated a flip. Virtue turns and flips forward into his arms, ending up with her legs around his neck.
“Coming up with innovative tricks has become more and more difficult given the restrictions of the rules, but it’s a challenge we embrace,” said Virtue.
They won Skate Canada and the NHK Trophy with that bag of tricks, then finished second to Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron of France at the Grand Prix Final. It was their first loss of the comeback. They know, again, that they have to be just a little better in Pyeongchang. That’s why they came back. They have tweaked things all year, and will surely do so again for the Olympics.
