Okay loves, I know I’m not fandom mom or anything, BUT:
Just because some fandom folks cannot look past the bad storytelling and the bad writing and the unbalanced storylines that have kicked off season four of 911 Lone Star and are actively criticizing these valid facts, does not mean you should be wandering into their inbox and yelling at them.
Some of us are choosing to roll with it through yet another Tim Minear personal headcanon storyline and some people are actively calling it bullshit. If you don’t like either take (the silly plowing through or the valid arguments) mute/block/unfollow whatever. But don’t go into people’s inboxes telling them to get out of the fandom. Criticism and critical consumption of content is necessary in all fandoms.

Dude if you can't even say the word proship without censoring it in some way, (prosh*p, pr*ship, whatever) get the fuck off my blog with your anti bullshit

I cannot believe we have to have this conversation in the Year Of Our Lord 2023, but here we are. So I’ll say it once, and I’ll say it loud:
READING, WRITING, AND/OR CONSUMING “PROBLEMATIC CONTENT” DOES NOT MEAN YOU CONDONE IT.
Something’s tagged with tags you don’t like? Easy way out of that, and it’s called DON’T LIKE, DON’T READ.
Something isn’t tagged properly? Ask them kindly to tag it, then back out of the fic/ post. Also easy.
Angry that those fics exist? Let me give you one guess as to whom censorship actually ends up hurting - if you guessed queer people, minorities, and women, CONGRATS, YOU’RE CORRECT! Because you might not like that content, you might be triggered by it (which is, again, what tags are for), but OTHERS may not like the content YOU create, and guess who gets to decide which type of content gets censored? News flash, it’s not us. And if you don’t believe me, take some time to search fandom history... or any history, for that matter.
Hope this helps.

I'm not gonna put the actual tag in because I feel like it's full of enough drama but..
What the actual fuck is going on in the ellie x reader tag??? Why are people so fucking mean? Zoophile? Because of a CAT GIRL?? Am I just too old?? Because cat girls is a fairly common trope, HEATS are a fairly common trope and I'm just so fucking blown rn that there's a hate page because someone wrote smut you didn't like? What the fuck?
I've been seeing a lot of kink shaming going on in the TLOU community but this takes the fucking cake. @elskittie I hope you're okay, you're doing great, that other person is on some weird behavior. Keep your head up, okay?
To everyone participating in this hate? Block and move on. As someone said already "making a hate page for a fan writer is some real jobless behavior." It's giving, under 25, cis, white femme whose either an only or middle child and never had to take responsibility for their actions before and therefore just hurts people because they domt have an empathetic bone in their body.

“Sometimes it is the people no one imagines anything of, who do the things no one can imagine” - Alan Turning (”Some people will never see you for anything more than what they wish to. And these people often are blinded by their own limits of their minds. Leave them be if they refuse to see logic or outside of their closed off view of reality and the world around them. Remember, you cannot show someone what they do not wish to see.” - me)

Little bit of a rant but i gotta get it out of my head
As someone who is both trans and pan, i get a LOT of people telling me that before I "decide" to be these things, I should wait until I'm twenty five (i am already a legal adult) because the "decision" is too life changing to make before my brain is fully developed.
If this is the case, here are some other things people should wait until 25 for. They can be potentially life changing, after all:
- joining any religion
- dating and marriage
- having kids
- having sex
- having a job
- choosing a career
- smoking and/or drinking
-owning a license to drive any vehicle
- choosing a political party
- going to college
- moving out of any home
- owning any animal
-taking vital medication
Of course, no one should have to wait until twenty five for ANY of these things, nor should they be disallowed from any affirming activity such as taking testosterone or estrogen after the age of eighteen (in america). By all means, they are legal adults from that point on, and their business should be left the FUCK alone.

Hi. Fellow Gen Xer here. I just followed you because I found your post about J2's close friendship and it was my own thoughts put into words.
I'm so happy to find others who think, act & feel the same way. Us "old" 🙄 people gotta stick together.

if something someone posts isn’t your thing, there is no obligation to interact with it. what’s the point of putting other people down for something they enjoy?

Idk is there are more of them or what. But I used to never see terf content and now it's everywhere. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention or willfully blind, but now I'm on a blocking streak because I cannot stand this garbage.

Palestinian freedom fighters breaking out of Gaza and reclaiming their occupied territories. They’ve taken over israeli tanks and have chased out the settlers that were on that land. They’ve launched rockets everywhere and the iron dome has failed to intercept. This is about to mark a momentous event in history.
From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.

I like to think that despite canon's ambiguity on the subject that Phoenix became good friends with Iris after BttT and she sends him handmade scarves and gloves and stuff in the winter. One day Phoenix goes to visit Kristoph in prison while wearing one of those scarves and is like ":( Kris.... we were toxic with benefits for 7 years and you never made me anything. You're in prison this long and you didn't bother learning some arts and crafts??? Cmon you never even knitted me a scarf" and Kristoph makes some snide remark about it but then a few months later Phoenix gets an unlabeled box on the porch of WAA that has this really shittily made scarf in it and Phoenix refuses to let anyone touch it bc he is convinced it's poisoned somehow. And he's right.

im gonna start a fight; and, at the same time, i need you to take this in the most good-faith way possible, but:
videos that involve body-checking and intentionally (and uncritically) show a mealplan of an unhealthy number of calories are just a revamped version of pro-ana food diaries.
and yeah, i know there's arguments. i address some of them under the cut. but at the end of the day, we're just coming back to romanticizing mental illness; we've just found a better platform for it.
this is already something we've done. we knew it was wrong and tried to stop it. and tbh. it just wasn't enough.
there are people who argue "well, what if you have an eating disorder, you can't help it if you don't eat!" except that as someone with an ED; we are not infants. we know what we're doing. part of having an ED is that you are like, maybe too self-aware. even if we can't help our own food choices, we don't need to fucking romanticize the disorder - something we've been warning you about since 2013. there are hours of setup, filming, and editing that go into these videos. they do not happen to fall into place randomly. there is a reason they are pieced together to be beautiful, bright, inspiring.
there's this woman who pretty much only posts daily plans under a normal amount of calories, and everyone defends her saying but it's better than nothing! and i'm like. except she opens those with images of her showing off her body and provides no context in the video or caption that suggests that she believes what she's doing is unhealthy. she has hundreds of thousands of followers on a platform designed for young kids and teens. i refuse to believe that by accident her content just happens to be cheery advice on "healthy" versions of starving.
for any other symptom of mental illness, we would be incredibly enraged by this kind of placid acceptance of a "tips and tricks" fast-start guide. imagine if people posted pink & pretty videos saying "best places to cut yourself" as if it was a fucking storytime. we, as a society, are so fucking fatphobic that we would rather accept blatantly harmful displays of self harm than admit that we are obsessed with a hyper-thin body type.
i am not suggesting someone never talks about their disorder. i talk about mine. actually, it's a plot point in my book.
here's the difference: i recognize it's a fucking mental illness. i am very careful to never mention a specific weight, eating pattern, or calorie plan. i always make sure to position it as something that ruined my fucking life. i do not put cheery music in the background and hearts and sparkles over my worst moments. i do not film it in bright light. i do not start each passage with an image of a thin body followed by "here's how to look like her."
eating disorders should not be framed as aspirational. and the problem is that society worships the "after" image, so long as you don't get too sick. there is a reason so many people who quit being "influencers" will later admit - i wasn't eating well that whole time; an obsession with food was completely destroying my life.
we let any uncredited, uncertified person write the most backwards, fucked up shit about how to get the body you desire! because the underlying, secret belief is: well, at least they're thin! and the real thing that fucking gets me each time - they make fucking money off of it. their irresponsibility and societal harm literally pays off for them.
"why do you care so much." "don't like it don't look." "so what if people experiment with new ways of thinking of food?"
thank you for asking. we're about to get extremely personal. it's because when i was 18 i discovered "thinspiration"/"thinspo." and it absolutely influenced, shaped, and codified my pre-existing eating disorder. i went from having some troubling habits and traits to being incredibly unwell within what felt like a matter of days. there were actual pages designed to train me on how to have an ED correctly. it was all so suddenly easy. i was sick; and the nature of the illness meant - i wanted to be sicker.
it takes an average of 7 years for a person to fully recover. i know this personally - even now, 10 years from the worst of it, i still fucking struggle. i am so much happier now and i eat what i want and i literally don't think about food at all (19 year old me would shudder) and yet - i still fucking know the calories of plain toast with butter.
an eating disorder is one of the deadliest types of mental illness. over 1 in 4 people with an ED will attempt suicide.
and i'm sorry. i just do not see the exchange rate of "high rate of engagement" versus "the value of a human life."
