"i've waited for so long just to say that to you." With Matthew Knies pls

Matthew spaces out, and stares into the stands for a minute. There isn't any way he's seeing this right. His girlfriend who lives in Minnesota and is taking exams right now is here, in Tampa for game six of the leafs vs. the lightning series.

It's impossible, right??

Toronto scores, the buzzer sounds and the leafs have won. And Matthew even had an assist on the game winning goal. The series winning goal. The leafs were off to the second round. Matthew is really excited but he wishes nothing more than for his girlfriend to have been here and seen it. He knows she's probably watching at home on TV but it's not the same.

He's walking down the tunnel, one of the lasts off the ice, when his mind flashbacks to that moment when he thought he saw y/n in the stands. He really wishes it had been you but it wasn't. It couldn't be.

He rounds the corner and his mouth falls open. Their standing, in the flesh is y/n. A thousand thoughts swirl in Matthew's brain at this moment but right now all he wants to do is hug you.

You run over to him and jump into his open arms. Matthew wraps his strong arms around you. At that moment you both feel a sort of safe feeling. A feeling you only get from being around each other.

Matthew pulls back and sets you down. He looks down into your eyes and at that moment you know exactly how you feel about him.

"Matty, I love you. "

He pauses for a moment, a look of shock on his face then says, "I love you too. I've waited for so long to say that to you."

You both grin at each other looking like idiots until Mitch comes waltzing down the tunnel breaking the trance.

"Alright Kniesy, how about you get out of your equipment before you accidentally leave the arena still wearing it. You'll see your girl soon."

I think it's safe to say Matthew changed quicker than he ever had before.

so random thought, can someone edit Game 7 of the Toronto Maple Leafs vs Boston Bruins match with the song The Prophecy by Taylor Swift? I’m thinking of like the line specifically:

Thought I caught lightning in a bottle

Oh, but it's gone again

And it was written

I got cursed like Eve got bitten

Oh, was it punishment?

With the lightning line being a clip from when Toronto beat Tampa Bay last year, and then the line after that be the one from the recent Game 7 of Toronto losing to Boston again

And then when it gets to the chorus it’s showing like post game 7 interviews and pr duties of them being depressed and stuff cause it’s like

Can the curse finally fucking break of Toronto not making Past Round 1 or 2, ESPECIALLY AGAINST BOSTON- and like change the prophecy and have Toronto win the Stanley cup again?

(I was studying when this idea came up while listening to The Prophecy)

this is my first year into hockey and i’m still confused at how the playoffs work like arena wise 😭 example rn lighting vs panthers round one how is it decided whose ice they’re facing off in for the first game?

Home-ice advantage is determined by the standard standings tiebreakers: standings points -> regulation wins -> regulation + overtime wins -> total wins. So the team that has the higher seed starts with home-ice.

A seven-game series (as the playoffs are -- 4 series of 7) is patterned 2-2-1-1-1: so, for example, if the Leafs are playing the Lightning, they have home ice advantage. They would play the first two games in Toronto, then the second two games in Amalie Arena in Tampa, then (if necessary) game five in Toronto, game six in Tampa, and game seven in Toronto.
